The funny thing is, that I recognize some of the pictures from some movies. Especially that chic-flick, what was it? Chasing Liberty? I think that's what it was. The one where Mandy Moore stars in it.
And also that Lizzie McGuire movie. It's crazy I'm remebering these, but some pictures never get out of my mind.

Oooohhhhhhhh that one!
It's called "Ago, Filo e Nodo" translated to "Needle, thread and knot" (The knot in my brother's picture is behind the two cars on the left...) It's in Piazza Cadorna, and it's fairly recent, (2000.) It's symbolic because Milan is the city of fashion. It was created by Claes Oldenburg his wife Coosje van Bruggen. 
(This is from a flicker account... You can see the knot better in this picture... It's a second sculpture further down in the piazza.)

One of my favourite "places" in Italy is the line where Europe and Africa collide. (in a geological sense)
By one step you can travel very far...
on the left hand, high metamorph rocks from continent Europe, on the right hand, ultramafic rocks from Africa (Adria)
