Alright, so I'm going to start Italian lessons.

Top Ten Reasons to Learn Italian

Italian is a language full of history. It goes back thousands and thousands of years but oddly it was not the language used in Italy until the 1800s. So why should you learn Italian?

1. Well, to RP a few words in Italian of course.

2. To order from an Italian restaurant (And no, not the Olive Garden.)

3. Read "La Divina Commedia" as Dante wrote it, cause really, that's an awesome book.

4. Watching an Italian movie without having to have the subtitles on.

5. For the girls, asking for directions (we all know you boys don't.)

6. If you have Italian relatives you can talk to them.

7. Shopping in Milan!

8. Understand Opera.

9. Study art in Florence.

10. Improve your understanding of the Italian culture.

I choose Italian as an option (LV3, in French schools) for high school, I've been learning for 2 years and I'll start my third year in September when I'll be in 11th grade. So I tried to write a short presentation here I hope there are not a lot of mistakes

Mi chiamo Loujaïn, ho 15 anni e sono Tunisina. Ho studiato l'Italiano per due anni a scuola ma non lo parlo molto bene. Vivo a Sidi Bou Said in Tunisia. Sono una studentessa alla Scuola Internazionale di Cartagine, ma l'anno prossimo saro a il liceo Gustave Flaubert. Parlo Arabo, Francese, Inglese e un poco di Cinese e di Spagnolo.
Voglio apprendere uno Parlare l'italiano perche Penso che è una lingua belissima. Voglio studiare scienze politiche perché voglio lavorare in diplomazia.

I've made corrections to your introduction in red. Though you are wrong about one thing. Your Italian is very good for a beginner!

I don't know any Italian (outside of food) but I do know Spanish and I think I understood most of what you wrote WildFeather ... I was going over the *ahem* L'alfabeto, and I noticed a lot of the pronunciations are like in Spanish ... not all but a lot. I want to learn Italian too, Droo.

They are VERY similar. Just go through some of the classes and if you have any questions post them here!

That's so cool! Portuguese is my first language and I could understand everything WildFeather wrote! I'm so proud of myself! lol kidding xD
I think italian is such a cute language! I study music and everything that's music-related is in italian, so yeah =P I love it, haha! I wanted to take italian classes this year, but my family convinced me I had to finish spanish first u.u
Oh well, someday I'm gonna actually learn italian, even if I have to learn it only when I go visit the country or something lol

I thought Italian and Spanish were as similar as Turkish and Azerbaijan but no. I'm disappointed to admit I would have understood a little of WildFeather's introduction had it not been here. I understand Portuguese much more easily, although people told me Italian was easier to understand for a Spanish-speaker.

They are both latin based, so similar in derivation. I must say I understand Spanish more than I do Portuguese.
