I thoroughly ADORE Italy! Went there for a two-week vacation in summer '09 and I could not get enough! The places I visited specifically were Venice, Pisa, Florence, Naples/Pompeii, Milan, and Rome. It was absolutely beautiful. Threw a coin over my shoulder into the Trevi Fountain, and supposedly that means you're going to return to Rome someday. I certainly hope so. Currently attempting to learn Italian on my own and lobbying hard to go back for a longer vacation sometime in the future.

Well... the museums are nice, but the best part of Italy is the architecture and statues.

Hi, everyone! I'm going to Italy with a friend at the beginning of June, to celebrate the end of exams We already have everything booked, and we're going to Venice and Rome. Any suggestions of what is definitely worth seeing in the two cities? All I can think of when I hear Venice is 'gondolas' and 'San Marco Place'...

Venice you should go tour the Doge's Palace, the Basilica in San Marco, go to one of the coffee bars in the late afternoon/early evening and watch the concerts... Also check for tours to "Murano, Burano and Torcello" They are usually 3 hour boat tours. You will love it.
In Rome there is too much for me to write here. Obviously the Colosseum, Spanish steps, Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain... I could just go on and on and on.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions, and the quick reply. I'm actually going to start planning now Is there any food you'd reccommend a tourist to try? Maybe besides pasta and pizza?

^ There's probably some good audio-books, where you have a cd to learn the pronunciation and you know how to spell stuff. Just check a good bookstore or maybe amazon.
