Hi I'm Ari, and I've always thought there was a bit more to Oliver Wood then we ever get to see in the books so I've decided to make these drabbles for him to explore the character a bit more

13. Quidditch

Hogwarts

There was something that had always drawn Oliver Wood to Quidditch, maybe it was the freedom he felt flying, or maybe it was just the fact that he was naturally talented in it. People thought he was insane for it. In fact, he was fairly certain that was all that anyone knew him for; ‘The Crazy Quidditch Obsessed Gryffindor Quidditch Captain’.

While he loved Quidditch, he didn’t think it was that bad…

Not that the others would understand, so he simply went back to scrawling plays down on his scroll, ignoring the knowing glances thrown his way with mocking comments.

19. Wand
Pre-Hogwarts

This was it, he was finally 11 years old and he was finally going to Hogwarts. He looked to his left seeing his best friend, Callen, standing beside him, the blonde basically jumping up and down in his excitement. They were about to get their wands, something the two had been looking forward to for years.

Ollivander looked at the boys who were there with their fathers with a slight hint of a smile, handing Oliver the first want. Immediately something in the shop caught fire, leaving Ollivander to snatch it back off him.

They were there for a while.

84. Angry

Pre-Hogwarts

Oliver had never had much reason to be angry, aside from when he was practicing Quidditch with his father and accidentally didn’t manage to stop the quaffle from going through one of the three hoops. This was different.

Callen Montgomery. The son of one of his father’s colleagues and right now while eating chocolate frogs and looking through a book 6 year old just wanted Callen to be gone. Then he took a chocolate frog.

Without thinking Oliver flung himself at the blonde, punching him in the stomach.

5 minutes later, they were talking about Quidditch and eating chocolate frogs.

6. Divination

Hogwarts

Oliver groaned as he hit the ground of the floor of the boys dormitory.

“Oi Wood, get yourself up we’ve got class in 10 minutes” Callen’s voice alone made the brown haired boy groan. “Get moving, I’ve brought you some stuff from breakfast just throw on your uniform and get moving, we have to get to class”

“What class?”

“Divination”

“Unless that crazy old bat can tell me who is going to win our Quidditch match on the weekend I don’t care.”

The blonde only shook his head at his friends response. This was going to be a long morning.

8. Potions

Hogwarts

Potions wasn’t ever Oliver’s favourite classes, but here he was in his 7th year doing it for his NEWTs. Oddly enough, he saw Flint sitting with a Gryffindor.

“Get lost”

“You’re quite feisty this year… I like it” Flint responded, and he watched the girl look at the Slytherin in disgust.

“Flint, you heard the lady, get lost” he said wandering up to them, causing Flint to roll his eyes.

“I didn’t know you had the ability to care about anything not Quidditch.”

“I didn’t know you managed to qualify for any NEWT classes, but I don’t point it out.”

49. Yule Ball
Post-Hogwarts

Oliver had come home absolutely exhausted after training, he couldn’t even explain how bad he felt. He was only in the reserve team, but this was the hardest he had ever pushed himself. Thankfully though, his girlfriend was at their flat waiting up for him with a cup of hot tea and a smile on her face.

“You look horrible” she giggled, pulling him to the table. “Did you hear? Hogwarts is having a Yule Ball… shame that they didn’t do that while we were there…”

He only hummed, a small smile on his face as he listened to her.

36. Muggle

Hogwarts

It was Christmas, the first Christmas that he was spending with his girlfriend. After spending the morning with his family, and then they were going to join hers. Exactly at the right time they Flood in order to travel to her home, causing a few surprised shrieks to erupt in the living room of his girlfriends house.

“Seriously?” she asked him, laughing slightly as she pulled Oliver into a tight hug. “I’m pretty sure I asked you to come through the front door like normal people.”

“Not normal people, muggles” he teased, grinning.

“My parents are muggles” she stated dryly.

77. Cheerful

Hogwarts

There was something about her that attracted Oliver. Normally he would fall for girls that shared a love of Quidditch and were perhaps just as athletic as him. This time however, it was a girl that he would normally have never noticed. Flint seemed to be insistent on harassing, or as he put it flirting, with her and he’d stepped in - surprising even himself with that action. But once he had got to know her it was her cheerful outlook that really caught him. She could cheer up literally anyone simply by walking into a room.

And he loved it.

34. Parseltongue

Hogwarts

Parseltongues were rare, that was something that had been known to Oliver since he knew what they were, though he used to think about having the ability to speak in the language of an animal might be quite cool.

But now where his seeker, the boy who lived, had proved himself to be a parseltongue he was nervous. He didn’t believe that Harry would have done anything bad, but he didn’t know how he could prove otherwise.

Oliver hoped he was right, and he also hoped that he would be proven right soon so things could go back to normal.

20. Hogsmeade
Hogwarts

Third years. That meant that Callen and Oliver were FINALLY allowed to go to Hogsmeade this year. It was something that they’d talked about exploring over the holidays, and meant that aside from practicing for Quidditch and wandering aimlessly around Hogwarts they’d have something to do.

Oliver grinned at his blonde friend as soon as they’d reached the small town, looking around curiously.

“Do you want to get a butter beer first or walk around first?” Oliver asked, looking at his friend questioningly.

“Explore, if we sit in the warmth we’ll never come out again”

So they went exploring first.

64. Nap

Pre-Hogwarts

The woman stood at the doorframe, watching him sleep with a small smile on her face. She didn’t know how long she’d been standing there watching him, but she jumped slightly when arms wrapped around her waist, someone kissing her on the cheek.

“He’s already 3” she whispered unbelievingly, looking at the boy in the bed. “Our little Oliver is already 3” she continued, smiling at the boy who still seemed so small. He had always been quite small for his age.

“You knew he was going to grow up” her husband teased, pulling her even closer.

“Not this fast…”

83. Fearful

Pre-Hogwarts

He wasn’t scared. Oliver was on his first broom, real broom, one that actually was able to fly high up into the sky and he was loving every moment.

The adrenaline was rushing through him as he took things that for a first time were fairly risky. But he felt free.

His mother however was absolutely terrified.

“Why did you allow this to happen! He’s going to kill himself! Are you even listening to me?!” she shrieked, directing all her fear into anger at her husband in a response.

“He’ll be fine love, he would’ve eventually learnt, matter of time…”

50. Boggart

Hogwarts

During his fifth year of school they were revising how to deal with boggarts. With their DADA teacher, they were never going to actually be able to practice given that if a student slammed the door on their way in their teacher was practically cowering under a table.

He heard the comments made, the jokes about how his fear was losing quidditch, or not finding a team. Callen didn’t seem to notice as he read through his book.

They didn’t know though. His fear had nothing to do with quidditch though, not really. He feared failure.

Though they’d never know.

86. Daring

Hogwarts

He was a Gryffindor. They were meant to be brave, meant to be daring. And most of the time, Oliver thought of himself as such.

However, there were two situations in which he didn’t feel as daring as he generally saw himself.

One - before a Quidditch game; he had confidence in himself, in his team, in their training and the strategies involved. But his nerves still got to him.

Two - around her. His mind blanked and palms went sweaty. Somehow he was still able to make her laugh, to keep conversation despite how he felt.

Yes… she absolutely terrified Oliver.

11. History of Magic

Hogwarts

It was the one NEWT level class he had without her. The one class that he had without Callen too actually. Normally he had one or the other, and they could keep him focussed. But he doubted even they would keep focus during History of Magic.

It was a good subject, made horrible by the professor, a ghost.

Oliver usually sleep in this class. Slept, or ended up doodling Quidditch strategies and plays.

And yet, this was also his best subject. Only because he actually, genuinely enjoyed reading it by himself. It was something no one ever seemed to notice.

88. Sweet Tooth

Hogwarts

Oliver didn’t see himself as having that much of a sweet tooth, not as much as he had been as a child. He enjoyed the occasional chocolate frog, or something from Honeydukes. However, his friend Callen had an insatiable appetite for sweets.

The boy seemed to constantly have a bag full of a variety of different lollies somewhere on his person. In classes, much to the distaste of some of his teachers he was constantly snacking, leaving Oliver to wonder how his friend wasn’t fat by now.

“Want one?” Callen asked, pulling out a bag of muggle lollies.

“Why not”

71. Untie

Post-Hogwarts

Oliver had been involved in an event now, now that he’d finally become a part of the actual team rather than a reserve. It had been something interesting, dressed up in a tuxedo, with his girlfriend also dressed up nicely and smiling as she clung to his arm, the only sign that she was uncomfortable.

They were finally back in their flat though, and she sighed as she allowed herself to fall back onto their bed. He gave her a smile before moving to get dressed, slowly untying his tie.

It was the first time since Hogwarts he’d worn one.

92. Chocolate

Hogwarts

The beginning of his last year had definitely started in Hogwarts style; something completely unexpected happening. A dementor wandered through the corridors, and although he hadn’t been hit by it hard, it had definitely affected him.

“Oliver” Callen’s frantic voice called to him. “Do you have chocolate?”

“Yeah… why?”

“One of Lara’s friends is really sick now, a Professor said chocolate would help…” he said, his friend immediately following him to the compartment he came from. The girl was sickly pale, looking as though she were about to throw up.

“Here, have this” he said kindly, offering her the chocolate.
