Beezus took out her list of books to buy and began perusing through the long line of shelves inside Flourish & Blotts.

“Let’s see. I need the Standard Book of Spells: Grade Three.” she muttered, craning her neck around in search for the said book. Where was it, hmm? She went on and stopped in front of a tall book shelf. Apparently, the books could be found there. The search was over. The problem was, she couldn’t reach it! Standing on tiptoe, she extended her arms but not one of the books was within her grasp.

“If I could just…” Merlin help her. She needed that book! As she was trying her hardest, a hand traveled from behind her and grabbed the book so easily. Someone was helping her! Yaayy! Beezus settled down and whirled around to thank whoever it was.

T’was a guy.

“I can’t believe how short you are, love.” The boy told her, smirking as he tossed the book her way. “Aren’t you even going to say thank you?”

Errrr...WHUUT? Someone was really that smug and arrogant?

Maybe she should’ve just used the Accio spell to get the book instead of having his help.

Dylan had spent the better part of his free period lurking the Seventh floor statues. Well, not lurking…sabotaging, more so. The little niches in the stone figures made for interesting hiding spots…for his chewing gum. After cramming several pieces into place, the Slytherin laid low. His prey would be coming into view any moment…

…And there she was.

Trying not to stare too much at the brunette, Dylan waited until she was directly in front the set of statues he’d been…modifying. It took a few minutes but when she was finally in place, the Captain lifted his wand, muttering “Waddiwasi.” In an instant, his gum pieces darted out of the tiny niches and shot right at the Ravenclaw’s back.

SCORE!

Of course, he hadn’t been as quiet as he’d originally thought with his spell…and Beezus had heard him. Something made obvious in the way she’d whirled around and glared in his direction. Instead of the showdown Dylan had expected, however…she simply glared at him for a long moment before walking away.

Bust.

The truth of the matter was that Beezus just wasn’t talking to him. He understood her cold shoulder that much… He just wished he could figure out why.

She was sprinting. No, they were.

As her boots left crunchy footsteps on the rocky ground, she turned her head to the side to determine the person clasping her wrist and pulling her into the depths of the forest. It was Dylan. But why were they running? And, from what?

Completely befuddled, Beezus opened her mouth to interrogate him when out of nowhere; his strong arms pushed her away from him. She jerked and staggered to the ground.

“What the…!” Yet before she could complete her question, or even get herself back up, a voice echoed, “AVADA KEDAVRA!” And a flash of green light came flying towards the Slytherin Captain, hitting him straight on the chest.

Beezus froze for what seemed like a millisecond before wildly scampering to his side. “No…” Cold tears trickled down her rosy cheeks as she lifted his head. “No….please…Dy…no…Dylan…” She let out an involuntary gasp. “Dylan! Dylan! DYLAN!”


She was screaming….without any sound.

Beezus inhaled sharply. She sat up quickly with a shaken, panicked expression.

“Bee?”

Rashly, she turned towards the voice, her brown eyes boring on him intensely before she sighed.

He was alive.

It was only a bad dream, after all.
