Hi everyone! I am Erika, the author of this fan fic which you are about to read. This is my first fan fic and it takes place in Harry Ron and Hermione’s 6th year. None of the events of HBP are included in this story and it should be read as if the sixth book hasn’t been written.

I am writing this romantic fanfic for several different Ships. I won’t tell you who all ends up together ultimately, but not all of the couples in the beginning will end up together in the end, so if you don’t like it then bear with me…it might change.

Chapter one-Letters

Harry sat in his room at the Dursleys’ reading one of his many quidditch books and coming up with new plays for the next year at Hogwarts. He couldn’t wait till he was back at his true home, for no other place had ever felt so much like a home to him. He had almost felt at home when he was at number 12 Grimmauld Place, but after Sirius’ , Harry didn’t want to ever go back there. There were too many memories. Harry had only just come to grips with Sirius’ and he didn’t want to dwell on it any more than he already had.

Harry looked up as he heard a tapping sound on his window. A small owl sat on the ledge outside and waited patiently for Harry to open the window. Harry put down his book and let the owl in giving it a treat and letting it rest on Hedwig’s cage. The letter was from Hermione.

Happy Birthday Harry! You are sixteen today! I can’t wait to see you at the Burrow. We are all having a splendid time here and can’t wait for you to get here. Ron and I have something special to tell you, but we have to do it in person. Hope to see you soon!

Harry smiled to himself and wondered what Ron and Hermione had to tell him. Just then another owl flew in the window and dropped a thick letter into his lap. It was from Ron and the rest of the Weasleys. He opened it and read the first slip of paper.

Dear Harry,
Happy Birthday! We would like to invite you to spend the rest of your summer here at the burrow with us. Please write your answer back to us as soon as possible and Arthur will come pick you up whenever it is convenient for you. We hope to see you soon.

Harry took out another letter from the envelope and started to read.

Harry,
Happy Birthday! Mum already sent you a letter asking if you wanted to come stay at the Burrow for the rest of the summer. I told her that you would, but she said that I didn’t know that for sure. She still doesn’t know how bad your aunt and uncle are (or your awful pig-of-a-cousin for that matter). See you soon mate.
Ron

Harry smiled to himself. He couldn’t wait to get back to the Burrow. He finished reading the rest of the Birthday letters from the rest of the Weasley clan and then got up to write a letter to Mrs. Weasley saying that he would love to stay at the Burrow and that Mr. Weasley could pick him up at 10 o’clock the next day. Then he gave the letter to Hedwig and started to pack his things. After about an hour Harry was all done packing and had no idea what to do. He decided to go downstairs and tell Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia that he would be leaving the next day. He didn’t need to ask them because they still did not know that Sirius was and Harry didn’t intend to tell them. Harry liked watching them squirm uncomfortably whenever his name was mentioned.

Harry went back up to his room about an hour later to find Hedwig back and looking very annoyed by the little owl which was flying about the room. Harry smiled at pig, Ron’s rather annoying owl, and took off the letter and package that was tied to his leg. It was from Ginny. Harry realized that Ginny had not sent a letter in the packet of letters from the Weasleys. Harry opened the letter and read.

Harry,
Happy Birthday! Mum wrote me and said that the rest of the family had sent you letters so I thought I should send you one as well. I won’t be at the Burrow when you get there so here are some chocolate frogs and licorice snaps. Tell Ron that they are for you and not him. See you at Hogwarts.
Ginny

Harry finished the letter and wondered why Ginny was not at the Burrow. Oh well. It wasn’t like it really mattered. Harry had never been very close with Ginny. Until last year she had always just been “Ron’s Little Sister”. Harry had only started to get to know her last year at Hogwarts because she was in the DA. As he got ready for bed, Harry continued to wonder and as he slowly slipped into his dreams he kept seeing Ginny’s face and thinking of her.

Wow...my first reader all ready!!! That was fast! I'm so glad you like it so far. It gets better...this chapter was really slow for me...

I am a R/Hr shipper in case you can't tell...but I am trying to have an opened mind for this story...I have a few friends who are Draco/Hermione shippers...so I am gonna put in a few chapters for them...so yeah...I hope you like the Fic so far!

Chapter two-The Burrow

Harry woke up the next day and couldn’t wait till 10 o’clock. He hadn’t seen Ron or Hermione all summer and although they wrote him often, it still wasn’t the same. He hurried quickly around his room tidying up and packing a few last minute things. Then he sat down and waited.

At five till 10 Harry heard a pop downstairs followed by a gasp from Aunt Petunia and a shout from Uncle Vernon. Harry rushed downstairs to see Mr. Weasley standing in the middle of the living room and uncle Vernon looking even redder than usual.

“Oh, Hello Harry,” Mr. Weasley said as he saw Harry at the foot of the stairs. “I’m sorry I’m a little early, but I didn’t think you would mind and I have to get back to the ministry as soon as possible.”

“Oh, no that’s fine. I don’t mind at all. Just let me get my trunk,” Harry replied as he ran back up the stairs. He returned seconds later with his trunk and Hedwig.

“Well, it was nice to see you again,” Mr. Weasley said to the Dursleys. And with that he and Harry disappeared.

A few moments later Harry saw the burrow materializing before him and then he was on the ground. He hated apparating; it always made him feel sick. Suddenly, before he could do anything else, he was engulfed in a suffocating hug.
“Ugh…'ermione, it’s nice to see you too. Could I get a breath now?” Harry grunted. Hermione laughed as she let go of Harry and revealed a beaming Ron.

“Hello mate, it’s good to see you again. Did you miss us?”

“You have no idea,” Harry replied. “So what’s been happening? What have I missed out on?”

“Not much really,” Ron replied, “Hermione got here five days ago and Fred and George were here yesterday to drop off your birthday presents. They said hi, but they can’t get much time off from the Weasley Wizarding Wheezes. They should be by sometime tonight though.”

“Oh, great! What about Ginny?” Harry asked not really interested in the twins at the moment. “I got a letter from her and she said that she wasn’t here. Where is she?”

“Oh, right. Er…she is at her friend Lucy’s house for the rest of the summer. Well, that’s what she told mom. Really, Ginny is only staying there at night. She spends most of her time during the day with Allen, you know, that fifth year from Hufflepuff. She’s been going out with him ever since she broke up with…er…whoever her last boyfriend was; I’ve lost track of them all by now. But just make sure you don’t mention it to mum. Ginny made me swear not to tell or she would hex me; and you know how good she is with hexes.”

“Oh, I see,” Harry said a bit disappointed. “Well, can we go inside now so I can put my trunk away?”

Ron was a little taken back with Harry’s sudden interest in his sister, but he decided not to comment. The trio turned and walked up to Ron’s room to put Harry’s things away.

‘Why am I acting so weird,’ Harry thought to himself as he climbed the stairs to Ron’s room. ‘I’ve never cared what Ginny did with her boyfriends before. Why should it be any different now?’ It was all too confusing. Maybe it was just because he was still dizzy from apparating. That had to be it. He was just a little out of sorts.

Harry spent the rest of the day talking with Ron and Hermione about their summers and opening the presents that everyone had gotten for him for his birthday. Hermione gave him a book about quidditch, Ron gave him some chocolate frogs and a poster of his favorite quidditch team, the Chuddley Cannons, and Fred and George both gave him a huge stash of merchandise from the newly opened Weasley Wizarding Wheezes. He had also received a new sweater from Mrs. Weasley and Mr. Weasley even gave him a baby pacifier which he had bought especially for Harry. Harry smiled and thanked Mr. Weasley, not wanting to tell him that the pacifier was for a baby. Finally, after hours of talking and laughing, they decided that it was time for bed and they all headed up to sleep.

I can only assume that's true [/slight sarcasm]

Chapter 3-Surprise at Hogwarts

Harry woke the next morning to the smell of bacon and eggs. He hurried downstairs to find Ron and Hermione helping set the table and Mrs. Weasley making breakfast.

“Good morning, Harry,” Mrs. Weasley said, “Breakfast is on the table. Help
yourself.”

“Thanks, Mrs. Weasley,” Harry said as he sat down and started to eat.

“So Hermione, I forgot. What was it that you and Ron needed to tell me?”

“Oh, right. Ron, do you want to tell him?” Hermione asked staring down at her plate and smiling slightly to herself.

“Oh! It’s bloody brilliant!" Ron exclaimed. "The Quidditch world cup is gonna be held at Hogwarts this year!”

“You’re joking!”

“No, and the best part is that all the students get to have front row seats.”

“But why is it gonna be held at Hogwarts?”

“Well,” Hermione piped in, “that’s the best part. Viktor is going to transfer to Hogwarts this year so they decided that the cup would be at Hogwarts.”

At the sound of Krum’s name Ron instantly lost his excitement.
“Now that part I didn’t know. He grummbled. So I guess you two have still been writing each other then.” He asked with a look of disgust.

Harry smiled knowingly at what was coming. Ron had been hiding his crush on Hermione since their second year. He had been planning to ask Hermione to the Yule Ball in their fourth year, but Krum had gotten to her first. Ever since then, Ron had stopped his constant praise of Krum and had thrown away all of his posters and merchandise.

“Well of course I’m still writing him, Ron. How else did you think I found out about this? No one is supposed to know until Professor Dumbledore announces it at the feast in a couple of days.” Hermione stated in one of her matter of fact tones.
“Honestly Ron. I don’t see what you have against him. You used to idolize him.”

“I did not!” Ron protested turning a deep shade of red that would put uncle Vernon’s to shame. Hermione gave Ron one of her winning looks and he was trapped.

“Wait,” Harry interjected with a look of confusion. “I thought Viktor graduated last year? What’s he coming to Hogwarts for?” He looked at Hermione waiting for an answer.
Ron looked up hopefully and joined in Harry’s questioning look at Hermione. Harry smiled inwardly because he knew exactly what Ron was thinking. 'I bet he’s coming to Hogwarts because he didn’t pass his NEWT exams and has to retake his seventh year. He’s probably so embarrassed that he doesn’t want to go back to Durmstrang.' Harry smiled to himself and looked to Hermione for the real answer to his question.

Hermione gave a quick smile and replied without delay.
"No, this is his last year. He took a year off of school last year because of the intensity of his quidditch training and now he is coming to Hogwarts to finish school.” Harry saw Ron dull a little at Hermione’s answer.

Just then there was a crash at the window as Harold, the Weasley’s old barn owl, hit the window pane in an attempt to deliver the morning mail.

“Well, it’s your Hogwarts letters,” Mrs. Weasley stated as she handed the letters to Ron, Hermione, and Harry. Why don’t we all go to Diagon Alley today and pick up your things. Then we can go and visit Fred and George at the Shop. So hurry up and finish your breakfast and we’ll get on our way.”

Diagon Alley

Harry smiled as he looked around Diagon Alley and remembered the first time he had been there. It seemed like so long ago now. Suddenly Harry heard some one yell his name. He turned to see Cho smiling and waving for him to join her. Harry waited for his heart to jump up to his throat or for the butterflies in his stomach that he was so used to feeling whenever he saw her, but they didn’t come.
“Er…I’ll be right back.” he said quickly to Ron and Hermione as he headed over to Cho.

“Hello Harry. I was wondering if I could talk to you.” Cho felt a slight warmth in her face as she spoke to the boy who she had gone out with last year.

“Er…yeah. Sure. What’s up?” Harry asked uncomfortably. He still wasn’t quite over that stage of awkwardness after they had broken up last year.

“Well,” Cho continued, “I know that last year I had a hard time adjusting and getting over Cedric and that it was really frustrating for you, but I was wondering if we could give us another shot. I mean, I still like you and I think that it’s been long enough now that you and I can try this again. So what do you think?”

Harry was stunned. He didn’t know what he thought. The last thing he had expected to happen today was for Cho to ask him out. Before he knew what he was doing he agreed.
“Er…yeah. I guess we could try it again.”

“Great! I’ve gotta go right now, but I’ll see you on the Express in a couple of days. Bye.” She kissed him on the cheek and ran off to join her friends. Harry was stunned.

Wait, what had he just said? Had he just agreed to go out with her again? What was he thinking? The last time he had gone out with her he had been more confused than any other time in his life.

‘I’ve got to talk to Hermione,’ he thought to himself. ‘Where is she anyways?’ And with that he left to look for his two best friends.

Harry found Ron and Hermione as they were coming out of Flourish and Blotts.
“Hey Harry! We bought your books and things for you. You can just pay me back.” Hermione told Harry as he walked up. “What’s wrong Harry? You look like you’ve just seen a ghost.” Harry gave a nervous chuckle and told Ron and Hermione what had just happened with Cho. When he was all done Hemione gave a little laugh.

“Well why did you say yes if you don’t want to go out with her again?”

“What do you mean I don’t want to out with her again? Where did you get that idea?”

“Oh. Never mind then. Just forget I said it. Let’s finish up our shopping and then we can go visit Fred and George at their new shop.”

As the trio walked off to finish their shopping, Hermione’s words kept playing over and over in his mind.
'Well why did you say yes if you don’t want to go out with her again?'
It just didn’t make sense. Hadn’t he been crazy about her last year? Why wasn’t he excited? Maybe he was just hungry. Yeah, that was it; He was hungry.

Chapter 4-Surprise at Hogwarts

Ron woke up earlier than usual this morning (of course any time before 10 AM is early for Ron) to the smell of bacon and eggs. He rolled out of bed and pulled on a shirt as he walked down the stairs for some breakfast. He stopped as he reached the bottom of the stairs and saw Hermione helping his mother. She was so beautiful. Ron stood and enjoyed watching her busying herself and laughing at the conversation that she was holding with Mrs. Weasley. He loved it when she laughed. Just the sight made a warmth grow in him that only Hermione could cause. He caught his breath as she looked up at the stairs and spotted him.
“Oh, good morning,” she said smiling. His heart melted when she smiled like that.
“Why don’t you make yourself useful and help me set the table.” Ron shrugged and walked over to her. As he took some plates from her, their hands brushed and he caught his breath. Hermione on the other hand, kept right on setting the table as if nothing had happened. Ron followed suit and started setting the table and stealing glances at her whenever he could.

Just as they were finishing Harry came downstairs.
“Good morning, Harry,” Mrs. Weasley said, “Breakfast is on the table. Help yourself.”

“Oh! It’s bloody brilliant! The Quidditch world cup is gonna be held at Hogwarts this year!”

“You’re joking!” Harry exclaimed.

“No and the best part is that all the students get to have front row seats.”

Ron sighed and continued eating; which was the only thing that he could think to do to keep his mind off of the beautiful brunette sitting across from him at the table.

Diagon Alley

Ron looked around as they all appeared in Diagon Alley. Because none of them were old enough to apparate on their own, they all had to hold on to Mrs. Weasley while they apparated there. Ron could still feel Hermione holding on to his arm even after they had arrived in the ally. He smiled and thought about how good it felt to have her on his arm. She seemed to belong there. He dulled a little when she let go and felt the warmth that she had caused disappear. Suddenly he heard someone call Harry’s name and all three of them turned to see Cho. Ron stole a glance at Harry and noticed that he looked a little confused.
‘I would be confused too,’ he thought to himself, ‘That girl doesn’t know what she wants.’ Harry looked at Ron and Hermione and gave them a look of bewilderment.

“Er…I’ll be right back,” he said quickly and then he headed over to talk to Cho.

Ron watched them for a moment and then turned to Hermione.
“Why don’t we start shopping and he can catch up with us,” he said as he glanced back at Harry again. "It looks like he might be a little while."

“Well, I guess we could get his books for him,” Hermione replied turning.

They headed in the direction of Flourish and Blotts and Hermione immediately began talking about what she thought Cho might want. Ron listened and took in every little detail about her. Her beautiful hair that was once frizzy and messy was now in perfect bouncy curls and she had started wearing makeup over the summer. She had looked beautiful without the makeup, but now she was even more beautiful. Hermione had also started wearing tighter, more fitting clothes this summer instead of the usual baggy robes that she had worn in previous years. The new clothes definitely flattered her beautiful hourglass shaped figure. Ron took in a deep breath and took in her faint scent of vanilla. She was perfect; and he was head over heels in love.

They stepped into Flourish and Blotts and suddenly Hermione became a new person. She was like a child at Christmas. She looked around at all the new books and browsed the shelves with a delighted smile that made Ron melt inside. He wanted her to smile at him that way. He imagined just walking up to her and taking her in his arms. Her delicate frame tucked in his strong arms. It seemed so right.

Hermione was heading back toward him now with an armful of books. She grabbed his arm and dragged him over to the counter. Ron followed without protest just happy to be touching her. They finished up and paid for the books they would need for their sixth year and then walked out of the store. Just then Harry walked up to them with a look of utter confusion on his face.

“Hey Harry! We bought your books and things for you. You can just pay me back.” Hermione told him. “What’s wrong Harry? You look like you’ve just seen a ghost.”

Harry gave a nervous chuckle and told them what had just happened with Cho. When he was all done Hemione gave a little laugh.

OMG Thanx for postin it .. i aint read it yet so im goin 2 now illl say wat i think wen i have .. but i know i like it ne-ways lol .. OMG im off from skool 2 i got sent home 2day coz i didnt feel well lol .. so im goin 2 read it now ok .. brb ..

Thanks a lot ...but I don't want to post twice in one day...I don't have that many chapters written yet and that means that it will take even longer for me to post later on...sorry...but I love that you like my story...and I am glad that you liked the R/Hr part...I love writing from Ron's perspective....I definately have to write more of them...just wait till I write from Hermione's perspective...you're gonna hate me then...lol...but that won't be for a while...so yeah...I'll just have to keep you wondering...

I am from the U.S...I live in California and I LOVE it here...but it has been really cold lately...so yeah...I don't really know what else you want to know about me...I'm just your average girl...

Chapter 5-Hogwarts Express

Ron woke up to Harry shaking him.
“Come on mate, we’re gonna be late for the train.”

Ron rolled over and groaned. He hated mornings and he still hadn’t packed yet. He had meant to last night, but Ron was the best procrastinator in the world and it seemed a shame to break his pattern. He groaned and sat up in his bed.

"Why does the Express have to leave so early anyways? Would it hurt them to leave an hour later?” He grumbled to Harry. Harry wasn’t listening though. He was thinking about a cute red head who he hadn’t seen all summer and who he was looking forward to talking with on the train.

Ten minutes later Ron scrambled down the stairs with his trunk floating behind him.
“Ronald hurry up!” Hermione yelled, “We are going to be late and the train won’t wait.” Ron just shrugged and kept moving. He still wasn’t quite awake yet and he definitely looked like it.

“Why do you always wait to pack until right before we have to leave? Would it kill you to pack the night before?” she asked in a frustrated tone.

“We aren’t going to be late Hermione! Bloody hell, what’s got your panties all in a knot?” Ron asked in a sudden burst of irritation He grunted in frustration as he climbed into the ministry car that would take them King’s Crossing. He knew, of course, why Hermione was in a hurry. She wanted to see Viktor; and that realization was not helping his mood at all.
