| Hey!
Aww, thanks for liking my name...I feel special!
I agree...it kind of seems like if a fic doesn't have good grammar, or a bunch of things are spelled wrong, or they didn't use quotes right, it's hard to get into it.
ONTO COMMENTING ON THE POST!
I loved it! Oh my lanta, George is adorable, I love him to death!! Great post, and PAMS!

| Shan: I love how you can think of Arthur as adorable. While I admit he is, I find it hard to see him like that. Maybe it's just me. Aw, I'm sorry about your screwy phone/internet thing. Everything's good now though, right? Yay. Oh, and *huggles*.
Jessica: No, hun, I won't sue you. Never. Then I'd lose one of my readers! JK. Glad you liked the muggle objects thing. ....
And, impatient much? Kidding. Sorry, just started track so I've been dead tired all of this week. You can thank this post to the snow.
Taylor: Haha, yeah, George is a sweetie. Like I said, I can never keep lay/lie straight, so don't feel alone. And judging by other responses, it's a pretty common occurence.
springbaby: George is ALWAYS cute. LOl. Thanks for reading!
Roshni: ...uh, I think you meant George? =D
Josey: Take the easy way out, eh? It's the smart thing to do.
Adrienne: Um, you thanked me for liking your name. I'm not quite sure how to respond to that...but yeah, you're definitely special! All of my readers are! Yay. Haha, I loved this expression btw: "oh my lanta." You're adorable. Random Fact #7: Salman Rushdie, a novelist who has won many awards, was condemned to death by an Iranian spiritual leader for writing The Satanic Verses, which depicted Mohammed in an unfavorable light and reworked one of the supposed events in Iranian history. He is an author who delights in magical realism. If you read any of his books, his charm with words will be obvious. He can coerce the words to bend themselves to his will, weaving an intricate story laced with puns, satire, yet still a deep underlying message. His book, Midnight's Children, also won the Booker of Bookers, which is an INCREDIBLE honor.
We're reading Haroun and the Sea of Stories in school, and I'm really enjoying it, so I thought I'd just put that little spiel up there.
Here's the actual post:
The walk from the Richard Mont Stadium to The Burrow was tranquil, and although they exchanged a few words, there was a visible space between them that hadn’t been present in the taxi.
Walking across the slightly shabby lawn towards a building that looked as if it were about to fall apart any minute, Camila felt a vague sense of comfort wash over her.
George scratched the back of his head, his neck slightly red. “It’s not- ”
She never gave him a chance to finish. “It’s wonderful,” Camila stated, her eyes conveying her honesty.
The young man opposite her smiled and nodded, agreeing whole-heartedly.
George had just pushed the door open when a huge crashing sound came from inside.
“Mum?” He called into the following silence.
“Just a second, dear,” she called out from the kitchen.
George followed her voice, Camila trailing behind him. As soon as they could see the sight in the kitchen, George doubled over in laughter.
His mom was sitting on a wooden chair, covered in flour. A small jar of the flour lay shattered on the floor, and what looked small colorful chocolates were sprinkled on top, forming a cake of their mother.
“GEORGE!” Mrs. Weasley scolded.
“Mum, if you looked at yourself…wow, I couldn’t have planned it better myself!”
“What’s all this?” interrupted a new voice. It was Fred. He too started laughing when he saw the mess.
“Stop it, you two!” Mrs. Weasley protested. “Or I’ll send you down to the garden for de-gnoming it even though it’s Ron’s turn at it.”
“No,” the twins groaned in unison. Camila couldn’t help but smile at the scene. She was just about to offer to help Mrs. Weasley clean up when the lady waved her wand a few times and most of the mess had disappeared.
“Fred, dear, tell Katie to pick up some strawberries on the way here – we’re out, and you know how Hermione gets with her cravings,” Mrs. Weasley instructed, seemingly recovered completely.
Fred nodded and went off.
Mrs. Weasley was so busy bustling around she didn’t even notice the presence of a stranger. George shook his head bemusedly and cleared his throat loudly.
“Yes, dear?”
“Mum, you remember Gin mentioning something about a new friend? Well, do you wanna meet her?”
Camila stepped out a bit more from behind George and extended her hand. “It’s nice to meet you, Mrs. Weasley.”
Mrs. Weasley took a fleeting glance at her, but nonetheless gave her a warm smile as she murmured, “You too, darling. What’s your name?”
“Camila,” she answered.
“George, how did you find Gin’s friend? Gin isn’t back yet from the St. Mungo’s.” Mrs. Weasley had already turned her back on them and was now waving her wand towards a slightly stained pot. When it had begun to clean itself, she turned her attention towards the cutlery.
“Well, Mum, Camila is Fred’s and my newest employee!” George informed. He pulled out a chair from the table and indicated for her to sit, then went to the cupboard and grabbed a couple of glasses.
George asked her what she wanted, not forgetting to include Firewhiskey even though it was only noon. Smiling, Camila told him she would just have some cold water. She discreetly (or so she thought) sniffed it before drinking, to make sure he hadn’t added anything to it.
Apparently, she wasn’t very discreet because George cried, “Hey! It’s not like I poisoned it or anything.”
“Just checking,” she replied, grinning. George rolled his eyes in response. “Anyway, who’s Katie and who’s Herm- Herminie?”
“Hermione. She’s Ron’s wife, and she’s very pregnant. That means that she gets up in the middle of the night wanting to eat strawberries. And she won’t let any of us sleep until she gets it. Women!” He shook his head.
“Hey, it’s not our fault – blame the hormones! I’d like to see you carrying around a huge weight all day, feeling like you're double your size, and with irrational cravings for things that just happen to be out of season,” Camila contradicted enthusiastically.
“You tell him, dear” came Mrs. Weasley’s input from the living room, where she was now straightening out some pillows.
“Whatever” was George’s eloquent response. “Anyway, Katie is Fred fiancée. She’s pretty cool. Katie’s playing for the Harland Harpies nowadays – she’s one helluva chaser.”
The two spent a good chunk of time like this, with George doing the majority of the talking and explaining all the members of his family, plus the friends. Although Camila was sure she would get them all confused just when she needed to remember them, she didn’t mind listening to George talk. He punctuated every description with his own humorous comments, making sure she wasn’t bored at any point.

| *squee* Wonderful post! I love Camila's reaction to his family...she'll love the Weasleys, I'm sure! Quote:
“Mum?” He called into the following silence.
“Yeah, hun, just a second,” she called out from the kitchen.
| Not to be picky, but I honestly don't see Mrs Weasley calling anyone "Hun." It's always been "Dear" and I don't see that changing. However, it was an amazing post and I can't wait to read more! You always leave me with that feeling...*grins* Hope you post soon! *huggles* Shan XoXo |

| Hey! Sorry, I know it's been a while, but I've been heck-a busy. I've decided that I'm going to stop doing personal responses. I know, I love them as much as you guys do and I value every single review, so DON'T STOP please, but it slows me down quite a bit. Of course, if you have questions, I'll be happy to answer them.
Shan: You're right, for Mrs. Weasley, it's always been "dear" so I changed it to that. Thanks! Random Fact#8: Most of us Harry Potter fans are aware of fanfiction.net, right? Well, it has a counterpart called fictionpress.com, which publishes original stories. Some of them are really quite intriguing. So go ahead, enjoy!
And here's the post:
Lunch was a rather noisy affair. Mr. Weasley was absent, as were a few of the older kids, including Bill, Charlie, Harry (who was now actually a member of their family. He’d married Ginny exactly a year after defeating Voldemort, proposing to her on the very same grounds where they had gained their hard-earned victory, although not without losses. However, that’s another story for another day).
Camila had loved the family in action. She talked little, mostly to Ginny and George, but kept herself engaged simply by people-watching. In fact, it was one of her favorite activities.
Mrs. Weasley had prepared a rather lavish dinner. Many of her favorite dishes were present, including pot roast and mashed potatoes.
“Mrs. Weasley, this is really good. I haven’t eaten such a good meal in years,” Camila told her when she offered her butterbeer, which she politely declined.
“Oh, it’s just a little something I put together,” Mrs. Weasley tried to deny, but it was easy to see she was flattered by the compliment.
George leaned in towards Camila, “Don’t be so nice to her. Then she’ll want you over here all the time.”
“Is that such a bad thing?” Camila teased, although she was slightly hurt; she hid it well.
“No, of course- it’s just…you’d probably run away screaming after a couple of hours with all of us….I mean, it’s not that – I, well, I like having you – you, I like here – “ He stuttered, the tips of his ears turning slightly red as he talked. Camila found it beyond amusing that she had managed to get George stammering.
“Relax,” she laughed. “I was kidding.”
Nonetheless, Camila couldn’t help but feel light and extremely relaxed for the rest of the afternoon.
Easily striking up conversation once more, George queried, “So when was the last time you ate a meal as good as Mum’s?”
Camila looked down at her hands for a second, then back up at George. His blue eyes seemed to draw her in. She knew she wouldn’t be able to lie to him even if she was ever inclined to. “Honestly, I’ve never eating something cooked with as much care as your Mum cooks. But when my parents were alive, we had a couple of excellent chefs. Their meals were mouth-watering. Sometimes, late at night, I would sneak into the kitchen and grab a couple of scones or egg rolls from Martin. He was an apprentice to the chef – and a really good friend of mine too…” Camila’s voice trailed off.
Her memories were good. Narrating the story to George didn’t bring with it the painful twinge she had been expecting. Simply put, she felt happy to be able to talk openly with someone after so long. She continued, “When my parents died, I couldn’t support him or any of the other servants anymore, so I had to let them all go. Hopefully Martin found someone who appreciates his talents – goodness, he was a great cook. Not to mention…” She bit her lip here, lost in memories. George’s eyes flickered to them for a second, but then he looked back into her eyes. “My friend,” she finished in a hushed whisper. Her voice as light as feather; for a second, George was contemplated the possibility that it was the wind speaking and not her.
Carefully, he brought a hand to her clutched ones and placed it on top. His hand was much larger, slightly rougher, but warm against her cold fingers. They sat like that for a few moments, until the air seemed to clear itself. Sharing loads did make them lighter. Finally, George broke the silence.
“The only Martin I knew was this kid I met in muggle London and he kept going on and on about some weird elf relative called an alien. He said he’d met one of them and so I told him, ‘good for you’ but he thought I didn’t believe him and kept talking…” George described. His talk kept her entertained for the rest of the afternoon, even as other people started drifting off.
She knew soon she would have to leave to pick up Selly and then they would have to get back to work. And she knew the evening would bring with it her reality, which she had wonderfully managed to escape today, into this haven of jokes, good humor, fun, friends, and George. But for the time being, Camila stopped thinking and just chatted, allowing herself the liberty to be herself once more. |
