^^Hehe! You never asked Maddey! Next time I do a Marauder Fic, I promise I'll tell ye!
When the four friends finally reached the doors to Hogwarts, they were cold and damp to the bone. "Sirius, mate, you wouldn't happen to know a drying/warming up spell; would you?" Asked James, shivering.
"No mate, if I did, I would've done it by now!"
Remus sighed deeply and shook his head. "Honestly, don't you two read?" Remus, James and Sirius noticed, was not-at-all damp, and definatley not shivering.
"I'm not much one for books, Remus." Grinned Sirius through gritted teeth.
"Same." Agreed James. "Could you just, uhm... Show us how to do that spell by doing it on us?" He added hopefully.
Remus shook his head again. "Fine - but just this once, you understand? I'm not going to make this a habit." He flicked his wand and almost instantly, James, Sirius and Peter were warmed up and dry.
"Hey! You didn't say anything!" Gawped Peter.
"Well observed Peter. I have used that spell so many times, it was just plain boring saying it aloud; so I learnt how to use it non-verbally."
"Ooh, you do say long words!"
"Stop gawping Peter! You house must be pretty darn cold for you to need to learn that spell, Remus." Sirius added.
"I walk alot..." Remus' eyes flicked slightly to the quater moon and back. "Plus, it came in very useful today, did it not?"
"Well, yeah." Admitted James.
Suddenly, Professor McGonagoll opened the Hogwarts' doors and the first years all scrambled quickly inside.
"Wait here." She instructed, leaving them in the hallway.
"Hmph. Don't they ever do things quickly here? I mean, first they leave us to freeze outside, then they leave us in the hallway -- and guess who my mum says visits us first-years in the hallway, eh?"
An evil cackle greeted Sirius' remark.
"Oooooh, lil' first years, hehehe!" Peeves flew down towards the four friends, a dungbomb in his hand. "Cackle." He cackled. Remus sighed again.
"What is it, lil' first year? Fed up with naughty Peeves already, ey?"
"Quite." Replied Remus, pulling out his wand and shouting, "Wadiwasi!" Peeves' dungbomb flew out of his hand, and smack-bang into his face. He immediantly flew off, cursing.
"Woh. Now Remus, we can understand the warming spell, but that? I mean, how did you learn such a cool spell???" James asked in awe.
Remus just smirked. Just then Professor McGonagoll came back.
"Right, line up and follow me. You are to be sorted into your houses, and then you shall sit at your house table. Follow me."

When the four friends got into the Great Hall, they had butterflies in the chests, and jellies in their stomachs. They all lined up nervously in a row. Sirius was first out of the four friends.
"Black, Sirius." Called Professor McGonagoll.
Sirius ran up to the front and sat on the stool. He put the Sorting hat carefully on his head and waited.
Ooooh, another Black, ey? Well well, where to put you...? Ah, you have the ferociousness of the Blacks in you--
"I DO NOT!" Growled Sirius.
--No need to shout. Hmm, but you do have a touch of bravery...
"GRYFFINDOR!!!"
A whoop of cheers greeted a beaming Sirius as he jumped off the stool, putting the Sorting hat back on it, before running off to join the Gryffindor House.
Then it was Lily's turn. She got up, put the hat on, and five seconds later the Sorting hat shouted out:
"GRYFFINDOR!!!"
And once Lily had sat down a fair distance from Sirius, the next person was called up.
"Lupin, Remus!"
Remus walked nervously onto the stool, all eyes watching him. He picked up the Sorting hat, sat on the stool; and lowered it onto his head.......
Oos-(Out of story) Of course, we all know what house he was, but then again; who knows what the Sorting hat actually said to him? | |

I'm so sorry I haven't posted! Here we go:
Hmmm... Intreging. I never would've guessed.
Remus shivered as the sorting hat sifted through his thoughts...
Then again, Dumbledore did warn me... Ah, but you have a good heart, just as he said you would. Maybe my first impression was misjudged...
"GRYFFINDOR!!!"
Remus lifted the hat gratefully off his head, and ran to the Gryffindor table to sit next to Sirius; who patted him on the back.
Soon, McGonagoll called out, "Pettigrew, Peter!"
Peter scurried up to the hat. After a seriously unnerving minute for Peter, the hat called out:
"GRYFFINDOR!"
Peter practically tripped over in his haste to join Sirius and Remus.
"Potter, James!"
James hurried up. Barely had the hat touched his head did the hat scream:
"GRYFFINDOR!"
James grinned proudly as he joined his cheering friends.
Then...
"Snape, Severus!"
Lily's head snapped up. The four friends were too busy whispering to notice.
"SLYTHERIN!"
Lily looked sadly up at the boy. She removed her hand from the seat she'd been saving and broke eye contact.
Severus looked away as he sat down at the Slytherin table.
Lily vaguely considered sitting with James and Co., but dismissed it as she spotted Sirius pulling disgusting faces with James.
Just then, Dumbledore stood up to speak... | |
