{Lily}

Lily had woken up early on the first day of classes. She walked down to the common rooms when she was fully dressed, only to see her best friend making out with James Potter.

“Oh my g-” she stopped mid speech; she was interrupted by another sound of protest.

“JAMES!” Sirius yelled loudly.

“What?” James asked a hint of a smile on his face.

“What are you two doing?” He asked, and Lily missed the second half of what he said, but she could swear she had heard her name.

“Oh that, yeah its not going to happen…I gave up mate…and Marry and I have liked each other for a while now.” Lily gasped, and could feel her heart turn over sideways, backways, frontways, and everyways.

{James}

James Potter and Marry McDonald were going over their plan the night before in the common room; he and she knew when Lily came down to go to breakfast on a regular basis. They planned to make it public that day, their dating, that is. And Marry was having a hard time telling her best friend that the guy who had been chasing after her for years changed paths and went for her best friend.

That morning he got up took a shower and made his shirt look a little bit more un-tucked than normal. To make it look like he had been making out with Marry for longer than they actually would be making out for. He looked in the mirror and smiled. Perfect, now all I need to do is make Lily drool for me and chase after me…that would be fun but I’m with Marry now…need to remember that. He smiled cockily and left the dorm, purposefully slamming his trunk so Sirius would slowly start waking up.

“Hello Love.” He said to Marry and smiled. “Ready?” He asked and she nodded. Of course she was ready, any girl in school would give up their left leg-or more, to make out with him, James Potter.

“Ready as I’ll ever be.” Marry said and gave him a ‘do we have to look’. “But what if this doesn’t” he heard the door close upstairs.

“No time. It will work. Trust us, our plan.” He smiled. And leaned in kissing her, in his mind Lily’s face popped into his head, the image of him kissing her made kissing Marry all the more enjoyable.

{Sirius}
When Sirius saw James and Marry kissing he felt like his heart was ripped out and stomped on. Probably how James felt when he told him that Lily and Snape were best friends—his worst enemy dating the girl he loved, but this was worse, this was more personal. His best friend was dating the girl of his dreams…sure, maybe he was never completely open about the fact that he liked her so much, but that’s just the way he was. He never would tell someone how he felt about them.

“Oh my g” he heard Lily’s voice as but a whisper, that’s when he acted, he said what he knew would kill James, not out of spite but for a reason a real reason because he didn’t want her to be hurt too, she was a good person—maybe he should do the same thing date her to **** him off and to get him jealous. It could work.

“JAMES!” Sirius snapped making sure to cover any words Lily might have been trying to say. He wanted, oddly to protect her, even though he had never really been that much of a friend to her before.

“WHAT?” James snapped back looking like he was confused, trying to pull the puppy dog face on me? Wrong move I’m the dog.

“What are you doing?” He asked sounding as he could tell slightly desperate. “What about Lily? Just last week you told me ‘she is going to be mine by the end of the year’ well mate, doesn’t look like that now.” Sirius huffed.

“Oh that, yeah its not going to happen…I gave up mate…and Marry and I have liked each other for a while now.” Sirius swore he heard Lily gasp. Dam it. That Idiot was going to ruin his chances with the hottest girl in the class over her best friend, the girl his best mate liked?

{Lily}

Lily left the common room like a ghost, silently not even commenting on what she had seen. She heard the sound of someone sitting down next to her and sighed.

“What classes do you have?” Sirius Black’s voice came from her left, sounding oddly dejected.

“Oh today I’ve got Double Potions with Slytherin and Gryffindor, and double charms.” Lily sighed, “Two doubles…and then later after lunch I’ve got Transfiguration and Defense against the dark arts…almost all my newt level classes in one day. Oh joy.”

“Really?” Sirius said with a laugh… “That’s ironic. Same exact schedule…” He chuckled. “So what do you think about the whole James and Marry thing?”

“Oh that, it was nothing…but I still can’t believe Marry went for him. I mean after all he was trying to get me to date him since fifth-” Sirius cut her off.

“Fourth…he was devising plans on how to get you to fall for him in fourth year.” Lily shook her head.

“Figures;” She said with a laugh. “Well he’s been after me for ages, and the minute he gets ‘over’ me he goes for my best mate…to me it’s a bit fishy, very fishy.”

“Yeah same here. I mean it’s fishy to me too.” Lily saw Sirius smiling at her and smiled back, just then she saw a confused looking James standing in the doorway with an even more confused looking Snape behind him.

“Oh joy. We’ve got company…a certain ex-friend of mine.” He whispered under her breath, loud enough for only Sirius to hear.

“Marry?”

“WHAT? No. Marry and I will still be friends; even though she fell for the devil.” She said with a laugh. “I meant…Hi Severus how are you?” Lily asked raising her eyebrow as Snape walked over. She heard Sirius coughing on the bit of toast he had just eaten.

“I’m fine Lily.” Severus said and gave her a creepily soft smile, it didn’t make him look any bit the more appealing—in fact it took away from his already unattractive appearance. “How are you Lily? Do you have Potions today?” He asked and smiled his normal smile that made him look like a vampire bat.

Lily smiled back, fake-beaming. “Oh I’m good.” She said and nodded, innocently pocking Sirius to get his attention, in a way that Snape would not notice. “Go ahead and mock him.” Lily whispered under her breath to Sirius, she saw his face light up with mischievous plans.

“Lily I wanted to ask you something.” Snape smiled. “W-will you go out with me?” Snape looked hopeful.

“I-I’m sorry Snape. I already have a boyfriend.” She lied. Why did I say that!

“Oh.” Snape said looking dejected. “I see. Bye then.” He looked hurt.

“You have a boyfriend?” Sirius asked and raised an eyebrow.

“No!” Lily admitted and blushed brightly. “I didn’t want to date him.” Lily admitted again and blushed even harder.

“Ah our little Miss Evans is breaking hearts of old friends…we can change that.” He said and gave her a quick smile.

“How?” Lily asked desperately.

“Me. We’ll pretend to date.” Sirius whispered.

“Your on. Maybe it’ll get Laura to break up with James and go for you.” Lily whispered.

“And James to go back after you like a Jealous—Hey James your out of holy lip lock?” Sirius said with a laugh….He smiled, and then bit his lip. “Don’t hate me but while you were in snogging Marry Land, Lily and I kind of started dating.” Lily nodded and went along with what he said. She thought she saw pain flash across James’s face, then a slight bit of jealousy.

“Congratulations.” He said with a laugh. “What’s the catch?”

“Oh…I kind of lied and told Snape I had a boyfriend.” Lily admitted with a laugh… “And Sirius and I kind of had something going on last year…during the quidditch season…we would flirt and stuff…so it ended up just working out.”

{Marry}

“James, stop pacing. We knew this wasn’t going to be easy when we got into it…” Marry spoke softly, “I know seeing her with him hurt you, it hurts I know…I should know, I was practically in love with him all last year. He might be trying to get back at you for me, but you know it could also be that they honestly slipped up told Snape she was dating him to get him off her back—which I know she has done before…all her other boyfriends were friends who faked it so she didn’t have to date Snape.”

“Really? Doesn’t he get suspicious?” James asked and scratched his head.

“No, usually she would say he was a guy from home.” Marry said and laughed. “She almost said Ja-I have to shut it now.” Marry began to blush profusely.

“She almost said James?” James asked raising an eyebrow, all Marry managed to say was a squeak. “Me? She almost said me…that’s why you said this was good, because of that. Marry I love”

{Sirius}

Sirius laughed when he looked at the potion he had to make today, luckily he was partnering up with Lily. “Don’t looks know love but a certain professor is eyeing you…” Sirius said and laughed when he saw the pained expression plaguing Lily’s face.

“Oh please not now.” Lily whispered to him, her voice cold and harsh something he wasn’t used to hearing. “Ruddy, I don’t like him ogling me like I’m some kind of desert its worse enough that I’ve got Snape after me!” Lily hissed under her breath.

Sirius chuckled, briefly catching the tail end of a dark look from…

{James}

James sat at his table in double potions, he didn’t know how he had made it into potions…but it was probably because he invented a potion and gave it to Professor Slughorn, one that makes you smell more appealing…it made the your perspiration smell like jasmine. The more he would sweat, the more Professor Slughorn would smell good.

He heard Sirius laugh and braced his jaw. He looked over his shoulder seeing the starry eyed look of laughter in his best mates eyes. Its over; I’m not going to sit idly by and let him toy with her feelings…he doesn’t even like her…not as much as I have…he’s not worth it Lily…go for someone else…just not Snape of Sirius…god no, not Sirius…James realized he was staring and looked away briskly. His jaw still locked.

“I can’t take it anymore…seeing him with her it hurts” he whispered to Marry. He heard Marry sigh and saw in a brief second the grief on her face.

“Well James, you love her. I know this.” Marry nodded and patted him on the back. “C’mon I know whats best for my buddy…you need to—” the conversation was cut short by a scream.

“Oh Frank what was that for?” Professor Slughorn yelled, he ran his hand through his hair. “No one move, there’s just a poisonous potion spilled allover the floors.”

“Oh that’s not good.” James said and gasped. “Lily!” He screamed as he saw her fall to the floor.

A MINI update.

{Lily}

Oh god. Lily thought as she felt herself falling down, the smell of Frank’s potion caused her to black out. She heard James calling her name, felt someone catch her just as her eyes closed, all she knew about the person who saved her was that they had black hair…messy black hair at that.

She woke up groggy in the hospital wing. Her mind all a blur, opening her eyes in a flutter of eyelashes she saw three shaky figures at the end of the bed. And all of the shaky figures had black hair.

“Sirius, James, Mary you all came to see me. How long have I been out?” Lily asked rubbing the back of her head, for some reason it was sore.

“A few hours, classes are over hun.” Mary said and sighed. “If it makes you feel any better we got notes for you.” Mary bit her lip.

“Ugh. I missed the first day of NEWT level classes.” Lily said and sighed. “Do you know why my head hurts?” Lily asked feeling the pain dulling slightly.

“Ugh well when we went to help you, you hit your head on the table…you passed out and then proceeded to smack your head on the table…Sirius and I helped you out made sure you didn’t crack your head open on the dungeon floors.” James said and nodded.

“Yeah, we helped.” Sirius raised an eyebrow and angled it at James.
