Wow, I really should stop with the FF's, I can hardly keep up with my other's.... well anyway....
Full Title: Nargles: An Enigma
Shipping: Wow, another Neville/Luna
Genre: Romance/Mystery
Warnings: Sever Rolf Scamander bashing.... and Neville/Hannah break up, deal with it.
Summary: Neville has just broken up with Hannah and Luna is engaged. Neville is a Herbology teacher, head of Gryffindor, and helps Ron and Harry with Auror missions. Luna is a magizoologist. Neville, Harry and Ron uncover a mysterious document concerning her fiancee... will they be able to figure out the puzzle in time to save Luna? Will old sparks fly?
Neville Longbottom looked at himself in the mirror and tried to flatten his dark brown hair which was suffering most dismally from bed-head. He blinked his brown eyes twice trying to wipe the sleep from his eyes. He also made a promise to NEVER go to a party with Seamus, Ron, Harry and Dean... But hey, he was the only non-married of the bunch, he deserved some fun. Especially because he worked at Hogwarts and the prettiest women anywhere near his age were tied between Moaning Myrtle and Sybil, the former being 15 years younger (albiet dead) and the latter 15 older. Neville sighed and pulled on a green button down shirt that his Grandmother (aged 113) had given him for his last birthday. In spite of her horrid choice of clothes for herself, the shirt was nice, the color was a attractive mint color and the shirt itself was comfortable and cool in the surprisingly hot summers of Hogsmeade. He sighed again as the door opened. Harry barged in.
"You remember Luna don't you?" he asked.
The afore mentioned woman accepted a daisy from Rolf and giggled. Her long dirty blonde hair was pulled into a loose bun and her silver eyes looked into Rolf's blue ones. He was an attractive man of 34, tall, black haired with a stubble on his chin and he appear to be very much insane (to everyone but Luna who wholly agreed to everything he said). They were going overseas for the wedding, which was in three weeks, because Rolf said that he was a Buddhist and wanted to be married in Asia. Luna thought that was a brilliant idea and that they could look for the rare Four Toed Pink Elephant native to Japan.
"Of course I remember Luna!" Neville said, he had just read an article in the daily prophet about how she was engaged to some man of her profession.
"Well we think so may be in some trouble... come we need an herbologist's opinion..."
"She hasn't been strangled by Devil's Snare has she?" said Neville worried, there had been a number of murders that had one thing in common, the same unknown fingerprints and the victims having been strangled by the plant. He himself had helped ensure that it was devil's snare, nearly 50 auror's had been put on the case and the criminal was still at large. Truth be told he locked his doors at night.
"No, I need you at 39 Murkywood Road, Burgandy got that? At 2:00."
"Right." Neville said.
Time passes slowly when you're waiting so Neville sat down to read Pride and Prejudice a Muggle book he enjoyed because, deep down, he was a bit of a romantic. Two o' clock came quickly. He apparated to the address Harry had given him. The old church was swarming with aurors.
"Fish, I want a full background check of that guy, where he was born, the likely hood that this is just a mix up of the names, old job applications anything you can get your hands on!" Ron barked and the young auror rushed off.
"Ah, Neville! What do you know the plant parvulus fatum Child's Fate?" Harry asked.
"Lots, I had to study the family periculosus for my NEWT's."
"Good, well do you know if it could harm a 7 year old?"
"Of course it's one of the top danger's of magical children!"
"And it drag's children to the bottom of the water, correct?"
"Yes...."
"Here, read this." Harry said taking out an old newspaper article and handing it to Neville.
"Rolf dear, I need to talk to Hermione, she said she needed my opinion on the Kreen Backed Warfles that have been raiding Kent!" Luna said.
"Ok Luna have fun I have some plans as well but be back by dinner, I'm making pizza!" Rolf called from his study. There were two rules Rolf had for Luna 1.) that he would always make dinner (Luna was a horrible cook) and 2.) she should never go into his study. Luna, who was a naturally trusting person, never did.

ok I am going to post the next, but really short post because I am bored
BOY DROWNED IN LOCAL LAKE!
A young wizard by the name of Rolf Scamander...
Neville dropped the paper.
"But- but isn't that the man that Luna's engaged to?"
"That's the point." Harry said, "We're worried he may not be who we think he his, that he may be one of the NeoDeathEaters."
"Well then go arrest him!" Neville said horrified at the thought.
"We can't do that! We need solid proof!" Harry exclaimed. "And that's where yo come in, we need you to go to their house as an old friend and give us a good physical description of the guy."
"Why me?" Neville asked.
"Because Ron and I haven't seen her for 5 years, she went off to Finland- was it?- and came back with Rolf annoucning thier engagement a week after."
"It's not like I visted her in Finland! I haven't seen her either!" Neville said, annoyed.
"Well I was never in love with her." Harry said looking him in the eye.
"I was once but that was years ago too."
"Neville this is a matter of life or death, this guy could be the Devil's Killer." Harry said urgency in his voice. Neville was shocked, as much as he had heard about the henious crimes the NeoDeathEater's had commited he never connected the two, why would any one like the death eater's remain so mysterious and unknown?
"Fine, I'll do it."
"Good man, now I'll stop by later- you still live on Ganby Lane right?- I need to get home or Ginny'll kill me."
"RONALD BILIUS WEASLEY!" A womans voice screamed. Ron looked up from what he was doing.
"Oh bugger I was supposed to be home at 2:00! Coming Hermione!" He called and Harry and Neville laughed.

My gosh, another chapter!
Neville sat on his porch staring out at the dark town, listening to the crickets chirp. This vist was going to be akward, he hadn't seen Luna in years, not since the battle, not since that kiss... Neville set his mind pointedly on the hangnail on his left thumb and waited.
CRACK!
Harry appeared in the yard. He held a small boy with messy black hair and green eyes, a mini Harry minus the scar.
"Hello Albus." Neville said, grinning.
"'Lo Neville." said the shy boy. Harry set him down and Al, as he was called waved at Neville as thought he was a stranger. That was the way Albus Severus Potter was, he could know someone all 5 years of his life and still act uncomfortabl around them. At least for the first five minutes. Then he would get nearly as rowdy as his older brother James. But not quite.
"This little Snorkack wanted to come so bad he nearly had a tantrum." Harry said, ruffling Al's hair. The boy blushed and vainly attempted to flatten his hair.
"So to business?" Neville asked. "Hey Al, while your daddy and I discuss some important matter's how about you go play with Conan at Seamus and Lavender's?" Neville asked. Harry nodded his approval. The Leaky Caldron was alive with happy shouts and joyful music. There may be drinking there but it was safe. Seamus and Lavender were sensible people and they had been in the Second War. Being parent's themselves and Al and Conan such great friends Harry could be sure he wouldn't be hurt by a NeoDeathEater at his friend's place. Even a five year old could cross the dirt path that separated the loud buliding and the quiet one.
"Ok! I wanna show him my new Chocolate Frog card. It's got mommy on it!" Al said skipping away toward's the pub.
" Her address is 48 Renningson Square in Kent, got that?" Harry said half an hour later as the two men sat on the porch watching the fireflys and sipping gillywaters.
"Yeah, but I don't want to intrude...."
"Buy her a.... sunflower and congradulate her! The woman's getting married in three weeks, that's an excuse for Voldemort to vist her!"
"Ok, ok! I'll go at 1:00 tomarrow.... and Harry, why the sunflower?"
"Nevermind that, anyway if the man has anything unusual about him tell me."
"Got it."
"Good, now I have to pick up the Snorkack and put him to bed before Ginny gets off the late shift otherwise tomarrow's Prophet will headline 'Man brutally murder by Wife: Failed to Put son to bed on time.' " Harry said, Neville chucked and waved.
Neville lay in bed, the window was open and he heard fireworks as he thought about his.... odd day. But then he decided that think time was awake time and right now it was past 10:00, sleep time. And so ended Neville Longbottom's day.
Explanation: Don't ask me why Harry's pet name for Albus is Snorkack, I thought it was cute. In case you haven't guessed Conan is Lavender and Seamus's son and they own the Leaky Caldron. I've always thought Seamus should own a pub.... Hope you enjoyed. Oh and just for public interest this may have DH spoiler and as close to canon as i am comfortable (some of the things JK said in interviews made me very unhappy) | |

"Neville how brilliant to see you, Merlin it's been years!" Luna exclaimed ushering him into the... uniquely decorated apartment.
"Yes... erm... hello?" Neville, had never been one for communicating and was easily embrassed. Around Luna however embrassment was a stupid thing because even if you walked in to her house with out any clothes and started singing something by Brittany Spears she would dismiss it as there being Wrakspurts in the air.
" Oh, Neville I have a thousand things to tell you and you must meet Rolf! I'm sure you two will get on spiffingly!" she said as she put the flowers in a vase. "Oh and thank you for the sunflowers how did you know they were my favorite? Never mind, how are you as I said I haven't seen you in ages!"
"... Yeah..." Neville said, devoid of what to say.
"So I heard you're a teacher! I always told you Herbology would get you somewhere! Neville I have the grandest news, I found a real live Nargle in Finland! He's the cutest thing. I named him Bugs after my great uncle Bugsley. I thought it was the most wonderful name for an insect!"
"Luna? Would you like Peanut Butter sandwiches or would you perfer Watercress?" a man said walking into the parlor.
"Oh Rolf! This is Neville, he's a very dear friend of mine..." Luna said cheerfully. Rolf gave Neville a stare that made him greatly uncomfortable. Rolf Scamander's eyes were a dark reddish brown, his black hair fell to his sholders and he looked at Neville calculating. Then, as if deciding he could beat Neville in a physical fight he relaxed.
"Oh, hello, yes Luna talks of you often." Rolf had a foreign accent, northern Europe Neville would have guessed but he wasn't good at guessing games. Finland, duh! he thought.
"Neville how about you stay for lunch?" Rolf said bending over. Neville caught sight of the small mark on his left sholder. A mini Dark Mark. A NeoDeathEater. Neville felt sick.
"... What? Oh no, can't very sorry I have to...er... go see my great uncle..." D'oh! He prayed to Merlin that they hadn't read the funeral annoucment. From the non- suspecting faces, they hadn't. He sprang up, wished them a good day and walked as fast as he could. | |
