Fourth | best Harry Potter movie- yet! 8.5/10
for me there are several reasons why the Goblet of Fire became more successful than the previous 3…
( 1 ) its bigger… the cast, settings & the effects….
PoA concentrates on the trio and though there are new actors the film still revolves around Harry & the dangers about Harry. Dementors & Buckbeak came to life but still the story seems small coz most of the scenes include Harry with other 1 character alone… it could be Hermione or Lupin. They made the settings darker & gloomy such as, Shrieking Shack, the Forbidden Forest, even the hallways & rooms at Hogwarts, Hogsmeade didn’t help either for its cold & frosty..
But with GoF, so many new characters are alongside Harry, there’s Voldemort, Cho, Cedric, Fleur, Viktor, Moody & Rita Skeeter .New characters with minor exposures are included as well such as the Patil sisters, Madam Maxime, Karkaroff, the Crouches & Amos Diggory. They made other character’s role bigger such as Mcgonagall, Snape, Dumbledore, the Weasley twins & Neville. They didn’t forget also to include scenes with Ginny, Seamus & Dean, Hagrid & Maxime…extras whether students from Hogwarts or the other 2 schools or ministry officials helped the movie to be big, believe me.
Settings were expanded from Hogwarts, the Owlery, the rocky cliff (1st task), the Black Lake, the maze, the spooky graveyard & the icy Great Hall…
Visual & Sound Effects were really, really amazing from the spectacular Quidditch World Cup, the Goblet of Fire itself, Horntail chase, eerie Underwater scenes, up to revival of Voldemort & Priori Incantatem..
( 2 ) the acting… of young actors improved & much convincing!
Dan’s acting is really something for a 16 yr. old, being the main character of the movie there’s so much pressure & expectations at your portrayal & I believe Dan delivered a Harry Potter as what is a Harry Potter identified in the book 4.
Rupert delivered Ron very well, but im afraid that the character is becoming the laughing stock of the movie…its really nice to see him act a serious & jealous Ron during the Yule ball when he said to Harry “I suppose you’re practicing for your next interview, I expect..”.
For me, Emma didn’t overact, she delivered Hermione as her age should act, afraid & shocked during DADA class is pretty normal imagine a reckless ex-police is demonstrating to you how to torture & kill a person using a gun or knife and your only 14,wouldn’t you act like her? Annoyed & confused about Ron’s behavior during the ball when it’s his problem would really ruin evrything, and her concerns for Harry before and after the 2nd task is something what bestfriends do! So for me it’s a two thumbs up for Emma’s acting!
As for the others they did a great job, Ralph as Voldemort is really scary… again the extras did also helped, shouting as they weren’t allowed to compete, hissing & annoying Harry as he became a champion… I really hoped they screamed when they saw the dead body of Cedric, it would make the movie audiences realize how dangerous this competition is or how sad it is to lose someone especially to Hogwarts students when it’s the one they’re supporting … though Amos & Cho did their part, its not like a complete loss…
( 3 ) the story… of course!
It’s different than the previous 3, coz it involves a glorious competition of 3 rival schools which you will likely to anticipate-Potter fan or not, the coming out of symptoms of adolescence, the return of Voldemort, & the start of annual deaths of people who became close to Harry… |

| i loved it! it was AMAZING!!
i loved the visual effects and also cedric. he was HOT!! my friends were crying by the end of the maze scene. it was so sad! my favourite character was... fred and george weasley . i loved how they had more parts in this film and the interaction with hermione granger was cool!! bonnie (ginny) was also good in this one.i'm glad she had more parts too. the PLOT was great and i'm glad they had a bit of sense of humour in it. funniest quote was ron's line in the gryffindor common room when harry and ron made up and hermione said "boys" at the end. emma watson was great as usual. she's a wonderful actress! so overall, the movie was excellent and enjoyed it very much. can't wait for the dvd! *jumps up and down*
i give it a 10/10!!! |

| I thoroughly enjoyed GOF and give it a 9.5, as it wasn't exactly perfect, but then again, I wasn't expecting that.
I won't go on about how much they cut from it or how rushed it was, but focus on the good points, as it ought to be done. Personally I didn't think much of Mike Newell in the beginning, but after watching it twice, I trust he has done a more-than-worthy job. What I fancy about GOF is that I can't really think of a word to describe it -- the atmosphere switches from light and cheerful to eerie and at times opaque, or spangled with the seeds of romance. The upbeat tempo not only rushes the developing action, but also rushes one's emotions, so swiftly I could hardly acknowledge whether I was laughing, frowning, or sniffing. As a not very emotionally open type of person, I give credit for that to the movie, for managing to stir me all throughout those 150 and so minutes. The soundtrack. What I notice now, when considering it, is that I didn't really sense the music during the movie, but it was somehow within me, all along. Much like Phoenix song. *coughmushycough* Definitely loved it. Unlike the first three movies, which sadly disappointed me as far as visual effects were concerned (not even mentioning the werewolf in POA *scowl*), GOF surpassed my every expectation. Upon viewing it several times, I haven't really been left with something that looked fake or out of place. And mind you, I was more than cautious, what with the previous impressions I had of the mermaid and yeah, especially the 2nd task. Thumbs up in this compartment, too. Action-related, there could have been some improvement, clearly. But nothing comes without restrictions, and if we are to be realistic, there's no way they could have fitted everything in such a small interval. I, for one, wouldn't have liked parts of it as it is being cut, so enough of that. At times, the scenes precipitate a little, and at others, everything seems to stagnate. Humour was played up very poignantly in this film, a bit in the detriment of suspence and drama, but I'm not complaining. I should laugh more often, anyway. Also, romance was fairly put forward, yet somehow I was expecting more, seeing as though GOF is still the book with the most love-related bits, to my mind. Some irregularities as to the dramatic climax, I believe... though it is foreshadowed even as early as the maze, and that helped me prepare my state for what was to come. Good graveyard scene, if a little too brief, but I had no time to ponder upon that -- Newell does it again, managing to swing my mood so decidedly, unto the next scene. Fantastic one, if only judged by my outflow of sentiment; the image of the crowd cheering, the music thomping, in contrast to the sobbs of Harry over Cedric's immovable body build up an emotional string that left me not up to the very end of the movie. Acting-wise, I haven't really any complaints, though Dumbledore's energy overflows from time to time. Having been slightly deflated by Daniel and Emma's performances in POA, I found them much renewed, somehow more eager to act, more fresh. Rupert had a lot more screentime, and this definitely allowed him to show what a great job he can do. All due respect to the portrayers of Moody and Voldemort - such scene-stealers!! And Ralph Fiennes achieves a great role just by his astonishing use of dialogue. Matthew Lewis as Neville also proved a pleasant surprise, as did the twins, though on a different note. They were given more background to grow their characters, and hail, they did. The three champions... Cedric was almost an exact replica of what I imagined when reading the books, if a bit more charismatic and cheeky. Also quite the hottie, especially those rosy cheeks he has all the time *lol* Katie Leung is adorable enough not to make one think of how controversial her character really is, and she acts better than some claimed professionals do. Likewise for Stan, who makes much of a sweetheart and gentleman out of Krum, and gives presence to his character, even though lines are not a strength in this case. As for Clemence, I wasn't that impressed by her, but then again, same with Fleur, so that must mean she did a good job! Well, yes, she was allright, I take it. Barty Crouch Jr and Snape also stroke a chord of my remembrance, and I digged Karkaroff's very Russian 'Albus' line. heh. For all these elements taken separately or not, and most of all, for the feeling it gave me after the 150 minutes sped by, GOF definitely deserves the mark I gave it. My personal best out of the HP movies.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Lyn Molinero Second | Erm..i think GOF was the best so far...i mean it was the least draggy film...and i thought it was real good, the dragon and everything...although i didn't expect the merpeople to look so...mean. Haha...i loved how Voldemort looked though...i mean it wasn't COMPLETELY EVIL and how i expected it to be...but i think it was pretty great over all...i'd say a 9.3 lol...i'm sure the 5th one will be better...and oh...daniel can act way much better now...and the only thing i wan't satisfied bout was that DRACO was in very few scenes...VERY FEW..... |

| Movie is a 9.0 I really enjoyed watching this movie. I wish that they would have included more of the Quidittch World Cup. The best part of the movie was the first task when the Horntail was chasing Harry. I wish that they included the boggart and the sphinx for the maze.
Cheers,
Sage |

| Okay, I'll give this movie a 9.7/10.
Why the weird rating? I'll tell ya.
I've read the book at least more than a dozen times. They say that they 'cut out the bulky sub-plots' HELLO? Bulky subplots make this story good.
Where was Mrs. Weasley? Or the Dursleys? Or the Bulgarian Veelas or Dudley's four-foot-long tongue? I wa looking forward to those things...but NO....they HAD to cut it out. Jeez.
But I gotta admit...Dan in the bathtub scene was fiine...*wink* that kinda made up for it. Okay, bad Hannah. *slaps self* Get mind's self out of that memory. Ow.
Anyway, I think ONE of the best scenes were when Snape pulled up his sleeves and then pushed Harry and Ron's heads down. Hehe - that and the fact that he whacked them on the head with a book. HeeHee. My mom, who went to a British influenced boarding school, said that actually happens. So, good job Mike Newell.
That's my review. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Rogue | I WOULD RATE THE GOF A PERFECT 10. I WASN'T EXPECTING THAT SCENE WITH THE DRAGON TO BE THAT WAY (IT WASN'T LIKE THAT IN THE BOOK).
THE MOVIE HAD SOME AWESOME SPECIAL EFFECTS AND GOOD DIRECTING. |

| Sorry, but I hated it. *sigh* 5.5/10 Now, I know Mike had to take SOME of the things out of this movie, but HONESTLY!! GET REAL! What in the *beep* was the point of showing Neville dancing with himself??? They took out important things such as the House Elf Liberation Front, and added *beep* like that! What the hey??? I know they could have made it a good movie. Don't blame me if this is wrong or whatnot, but I heard that JKR reviewed what Mike was going to do, and then after she had approved something, he changed it. I dunno if that is correct info, but hey. It's worth a shot of mentioning it, right? LoL. I just plain hated that movie. And I thought PoA was bad.... The Quidditch world cup was pretty bad. They didn't show hardly ANYTHING! They weren't even in the top box! They were standing in some sort of a pole-made box or something! What the freaking heck?? And they have gone way to far in the ron/hermione thing. Now that it's all out, that's OK, BUT they don't have too go making it look like they've been dating forever! It never goes right out and makes it look totally and completely like ron and hermione like each other in the books!! There's subtle hints! The movies have totally been completely destroyed by Alfonso Cauron and Mike Newell. Altogether, it was an OK movie, but I honestly think that someone else (Chris Columbus) could have done better. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Emma | Wonderful movie! I have to give it a 7/10 simply because I had read the book first. I wish they would have divided the movie into two parts so that they could have expanded more on the tournment and the events that occurred there. I loved the ball that showed all the students, once and for all, that Hermione was no longer the ugly ducking but instead grown into a beautiful swan. I loved the portrayal of feelings between Hermione and Ron during this period where Ron's idol, Krum, showed Ron exactly what he is losing due to his insecurities with his feelings toward Hermione. Did anyone see the short music clip called El Tango de Hermione on U- Tube? It showed this perfectly! |

| I give it a 8.0 out of 10 because me being a HP fan would have liked to see more parts of the book, even if it ended up being a 5-hour long movie. That would be really cool. |
