Devon Murray's parents Michael and Fidelma Murray thought they'd never have children when he appeared, and hence became the apple of their eye. Devon is an only child. The family lives in a four-bedroom house in a small village near Dublin, where he can be near to his horses. He is an accomplished horse-rider and competes in show-jumping events all over Ireland. Besides which he enjoys rollerblading, skateboarding, computer games, quad biking and motorcross biking.
Devon was only 6 years of age when he was sent to the Billie Barry stage school, and in a period of two weeks he was given a Tesco television advertisement. Six months later, he was in his first ever movie - "This is My Father" (1998), acting alongside Aidan Quinn. Later he transferred to The National Performing Arts stage school which further strengthened and matured his acting abilities. He next appeared in "Angela's Ashes"(1999) and closely followed by a role in "Yesterday's Children"(2000) before finally landing up with the role of lovable Seamus Finnigan in the Harry Potter movies.

- He was supposed to play Young Amsterdam in Gangs of New York (2002) but had to pull out due to scheduling conflicts with the filming for the Harry Potter movies.
- Is friends with Daniel Logan, who played Boba Fett in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002)
- He attended the Wellington Armageddon Pulp Expo Convention in New Zealand (15th- 17th April 2005) as the special Harry Potter guest
- Devon's favourite part from the fourth movie of the Harry Potter series, Goblet of Fire, was the Triwizard Tournament where three of Europe's biggest schools of Witchcraft and Wizardry i.e. Hogwarts, Beauxbatons and Durmstrang compete for the eternal glory
- "When the other schools come to Hogwarts, that was great," Devon said. And the best part? "A lot of pretty girls."
- About his co-stars, Devon says that he didn't fall for any of his co-stars. "We've all grown up with each other so none of us are, like, I love you or whatever. We're like family now."
