Although Welsh by birth, Pam Ferris was born in Germany whilst her father was serving there for the Royal Air Force. Returning to Wales, the family then immigrated to New Zealand when she was 13. Here she spent time working with a theater group in Christchurch, before moving back to the UK at the age of 22 to join the more traditional style of theater with the Royal National Theater Company and the Royal Court Theater.
Pam has also acted in many successful television series, including The Darling Buds of May, Where the Heart is and Rosemary & Thyme. Some of her more popular film roles include the horrible Agatha Trunchbull in Matilda, a motherly activist in Children of Men, and of course Aunt Marge in the Prisoner of Azkaban.
