Name: Julie Frances Christie
Nickname: Jules
Born: 14th April 1941
Where: Chabua, Assam, India
Height: 1.57m
Julie Christie is one of the most well known British actresses of modern times. She was born in India where she spent her early childhood on her father’s tea plantation; her father a tea farmer and her mother a Welsh painter. Coming of age, Julie was sent to England for schooling before moving onto Paris to complete her studies. Here she encountered the famous bohemian life and considered becoming an artist before moving back to London to attend London's Central School of Speech Training.
Making her debut in theatre in 1957, Julie used it as an engine to travel around the world. She was not overly ford of the stage however and soon made her transition into films in 1962. She went on to make many well known and acclaimed movies and became very much in demand. Throughout this time she maintained that she chose movies and acted for the art itself, and not for the fame; so much so that twice she semi-retired twice. We were lucky enough to have her accept the part of Madam Rosmerta in the Harry Potter films.
