Hogwarts RPG Name:
Professor Zaria Dainsie
Default Biggerstaff, Sean - Oliver Wood

Sean Biggerstaff was born on March 15th 1983 in Glasgow, Scotland. He is the son of a fireman and a community education worker. Sean was very young when he decided that the career he would like to pursue is acting, at just age 7.

He joined a local drama group in Mayhill that he attended for close to 5 years. At the age of 10 he received his first theatre role. He played Son of MacDuff in Macbeth. Later he joined the Scottish Youth Theatre and performed with them for a good 6 years. While he was acting with the Scottish Youth Theatre; Alan Rickman cast him as Douglas Murphy in the film “The Winter Guest.” That would be Sean first big screen film debut.

Sean’s fame didn’t explode until 1999/2000 when he was cast as Oliver Wood in the Harry Potter films. For the most part Alan Rickman is responsible for Sean’s involvement in the Harry Potter movies. In 1999 Sean asked Mr. Rickman if he knew of anyone in London that would be interested in representing him. Mr. Rickman got in contact with his agent, Paul Lyon-Maris and the rest is history. He was taken on and a week later he auditioned for the part of Oliver Wood, and well you know what happened next.

Though his parts in the first two Harry Potter movies weren’t massive, he did a fine job and was able to capture the hearts of his fans, and did justice to the character that is Oliver Wood. His role in the third Harry Potter was unfortunately cut from the film.

After the Potter films Sean didn’t do too much for awhile. In 2004 he starred in the 18 minute short film, “Cashback.” It was nominated for an Academy Award on January 31, 2006 and due to its great success; the film is now being made into a full length feature film. It is expected to be released in late 2006. Sean also starred as Matt in the stage drama, “Girl With Red Hair” in the spring of 2005. Surely Sean Biggerstaff will have a successful and lengthy career, and more fine roles and award honours are definitely in his future.
