| Here or not Chapter Twenty-Five - The Beetle At Bay
They're all sick of nobody believing that You-Know-Who has returned, so Hermione comes up with a brilliant plan to get people to believe in Harry. Cho got Harry to ask her out to Hogsmeade on Valentines. She gets mad at him and starts crying when he tells her he's supposed to meet Hermione. The meeting with Hermione turns out to be an interview with Rita Skeeter for Luna Lovegood's dad's tabloid magazine. Harry is relieved to finally be able to tell his version.
Rita Skeeter's back! I love her little cameo here. It's very cool. It's also great to see how Harry reacts to his date with Cho. Very realistic (imo) and humorous.

| Here or not Cahpter Twenty-Six - Seen And Unforeseen
Potter speaks out at last: The truth about the He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named and the night I saw him return. The entire school reads it and many of the students finally believe Harry's story. Harry has another Voldemort-vision. Somebody named Avery gave him some wrong information and he's angry. Harry has his first Occlumency lesson with Snape. he doesn't do very well keeping Snape from seeing into his mind. Trelawney gets sacked, but Dumbledore allows her to remain at Hogwarts. Dumbledore Announces Firenze as the new Divination teacher.
I like that Firenze is at Hogwarts now. It will be cool to see what is done with him in the next book(s). It's also SUPER cool to finally have the students believing Harry. It was very frustrating to have him ridiculed and not trusted by many of his fellow classmates.

| Here or not Chapter Twenty-Seven - The Centaur And The Sneak
We get to see Firenze's first class and the contrast in teaching style between him and Trelawney. One of the students from Dumbledore's Army snitches to Umbridge about the group meetings and Harry gets caught and taken to Dumbledore's office where Fudge, Percy, Kingsley (from the order) and others are waiting to expell Harry straight away. Umbridge pulls out a parchment that Hermione made everybody sign to join the group, and the title of the list read "Dumbledore's Army" (as an inside joke). Seeing this, and to save Harry along with the rest of the students on the list, Dumbledore claimed that it wasn't Harry who was leading the group, but that they he (Dumbledore) instructed them to do it. Fudge tries to capture Dumbledore and take him to Azkaban, but Dumbledore freezes all of the wizards present, except for McGonagall and Harry, and disappears after some short instructions.
This is a very exciting chapter! Especially the last part from when the kids scatter from the DA room after Dobby's warning to the point where Dumbledore leaves Hogwarts. Awesome stuff!

| Here or not Chapter Twenty-Eight - Snape's Worst Memory
Dolores Jane Umbridge (High Inquisitor) replaces Dumbledore as Head of Hogwarts. she creates a rank of students called "The Inquistorial Squad" which she assigns "trusted" students to - and they're all in Slytherin. They have the right to deduct house points and soon Gryffindor's score goes down to zero while Slytherin's soars. With Dumbledore gone, Fred and George commit themselves to reeking absolute havoc on Umbridge. During an Occlumency class with Snape, Harry gets a chance to look into the pensieve and see one of Snape's secret memories. It turns out to be from when Snape was a 5th year, and it includes Harry's parents, Lupin, Sirius, and Wormtail. From this we get a better understanding of why Snape hates Harry so much. Snape discovers that Harry saw this memory, and refuses to teach him Occlumency any more.
I don't want to give away the memory because it's really a key element to the entire story - not just this book. It's brilliant and makes perfect sense! I felt really sorry for Snape after reading it, and I'm anxious to see what happens with Snape in future books. Rowling said that we should keep our eye on him. I also loved the Weasley twins in this chapter. They are such wonderful characters! Super humorous and make for a more entertaining and lighter read.

| Here or not Chapter Twenty-Nine - Careers Advice
5th year students get to speak with their heads-of-houses about career choices. McGonagall sits with Harry, supervised by Umbridge, and he confesses he wants to be an Auror. McGonagall supports this and to spite Umbridge (who says Harry will NEVER become an auror) says she will help him at least be qualified for the job if it's the last thing she does. Fred and George decide to leave school and start their joke shop full time.
This is another brilliant chapter. The twins are brilliant characters and so much fun to read about. They help Harry sneak into Umbridges office so he can contact Sirius through her fireplace, and their distraction causes Filch to get excited about the prospect of whipping them both (which is another very funny segment). Their exit is classic and will go down in history!

| Here or not Chapter Thirty - Grawp
Grawp is the name of a giant that Hagrid decided to bring back from the mountains. He is Hagrid's step-brother, meaning they have the same mother. Grawp is wild and is the reason Hagrid has all the scratches and bruises on his face. Afraid that he will soon get sacked, Hagrid takes Hermione and Harry to see Grawp while Ron plays a Quidditch match. He makes them promise to take care of Grawp and teach him English (as Hagrid has begun doing) in the event that Hagrid has to leave Hogwarts. They run into the Centaurs on their way out of the Forbidden Forest, and almost get in BIG trouble. Luckily, they get out safely. When they get back, they find out that Ron played a great match while they were gone, and Gryffindor won the game!
Sort of uneventful and boring, and I am really tired of Gryffindor always ALWAYS winning the Quidditch cup, but I guess everybody wants them to, so Jo doesn't want to disappoint.

| Here or not Chapter Thirty-One - OWLs
This is when the kids have to take their final exams. While taking the Astronomy exam, they are atop a high tower (of course) and hear noises down his Hagrid's Hut. They see that 6 wizards, led by Umbridge, are attempting to stun Hagrid with their wands. Professor McGonagall runs out of the castle, trying to get them to stop, and they turn and zap her, causing her great harm, but Hagrid gets away. During his final exam, Harry has a dream/vision about Voldemort again. This time he sees Voldie trying to force Sirius Black to get hold of something in the Department of Mysteries located in the Ministry of Magic, and threatening to kill him if he refuses.
Pretty exciting chapter considering it's all about their finals. he he.

| Here or not Chapter Thiry-Two - Out Of The Fire
Harry decides he must do something to try to save Sirius. He convinces Ron and Hermione to assist him in this mission, but on the condition that he first check to see if Sirius really is not at the hideout. Harry agrees and they make a distraction for Umbridge so she will leave her office while Harry uses her fireplace to contact Sirius. He ends up only speking with Kreacher, Sirius' house elf, who tells him (indirectly) that Sirius is not at home and that he will not be coming back from the Department of Mysteries. Right after this, Umbridge drags Harry out of her fireplace. She has caught the gang - consisting of Ginny, Luna, Ron, Harry and Hermione - in the act. As a final act of desperation, Hermione pretends that they were acting on Dumbledore's orders and that they are working on building a weapon for him. Professor Umbridge wants to see this weapon, and Hermione convinces her that they will lead her to it - alone.

| Here or not Chapter Thirty-Three - Fight And Flight
Umbridge forces Hermione and Harry to lead the way to this so-called weapon and they lead her into the Forbidden Forest to the Centaurs, who take her away in utter anger. Hermione and Harry narrowly escape the centaurs, and find that Ginny, Luna and Ron have escaped their capture as well. They all decide to go to the Ministry to try to rescue Sirius from certain death in the hands of Voldemort. They use Thestrals for transportation, and get there in a flash.
This is an interesting chapter. I love how Luna and Ginny help them with their mission. It's really very exciting having a young team of rebels working together for a good cause.

| Here or not Chapter Thirty-Four - The Department Of Mysteries
The arrive safely to the Ministry, and the entire place is empty. The somehow manage to get to the Department of Mysteries without much trouble too, but find when they arrive, that Sirius is not present. It was a trick from Voldemort to lure Harry there. This is why Dumbledore was insisting Harry learn Occlumency - to protect him from getting fake "visions" from Voldie as control. In the spot where Sirius was supposed to be (according to the dream), Ron noticed a dusty glass sphere with Harry's name on it. Curious of what this could be, Harry picked it up. As soon as he did this, he heard Lucius Malfoy's voice behind him, demanding that Harry give him the orb.

| Here or not Chapter Thirty-Five - Beyond The Veil
They were outnumbered two-to-one as a dozen Death Eaters emerged from the shadows. Lots of cool duelling occurs and the DA get to show their stuff against Death Eaters! Woo hoo! it's very exciting - and some of the Order show up to help them out in the last minute too.
This is the chapter where somebody dies. I will not give away who it is, but suffice it to say it is rather abrupt and sudden. Rather unexpected. Rowling didn't even make a big deal out of it really, it just sort of happened. Almost in the background. Great stuff I think because this is how war is. People die - and when you least expect it - it could be you or your best friend. Nice touch. Another cool thing about this all-action, tension-filled chapter, is how we get to see the changes in Neville Longbottom. He is finally gaining confidence and shows why he was chosen to be in Gryffindor - house of the brave.

| Here or not Chapter Thirty-Six - The Only One He Ever Feared
Obviously, the chapter title is reffering to Dumbledore and Voldemort. Yes, Dumbledore shows up just when it looks like they're all gonna die! he he. Not really, it's really just Harry that is chasing after the Death Eater that killed his friend, and when she, Bellatrix Lestrange, discovers that Harry lost the prophesy, she panics and fears for her life - knowing that Voldie will be extremly mad that she didn't get it for him. And when Voldie shows up to do in Harry Potter, who shows up to even out the odds on Harry's side? None other than the great Albus Dumbledore. After Voldemort gives up on murdering Harry and disappears, the Ministry is suddenly filled with Ministry workers. Fudge confesses that You-Know-Who has returned since he saw him with his own eyes. Admitting that he was wrong all along, Fudge has no choice but to re-admit Dumbledore as Headmaster of Hogwarts School.
Cool chapter with LOADS of Voldemort stuff. I'm sure lots of what we read here will be useful in future books.

| Here or not Chapter Thirty-Seven - The Lost Prophecy
This is the looong revelation speech that Dumbledore gives to Harry. It's really cool - if a bit long and repetative. We learn why Voldemort was attempting to kill Harry as a baby, and what that prophecy was all about. We also learn something interesting about Professor Trelawney that we never would have suspected.
I don't want to give anything away so I won't say more here. Suffice it to say that it's very interesting, but really too long. We learn LOADS of stuff - like why Harry has to stay with the Dursleys every summer, and why Dumbledore allows Trelawny to teach when she is so obviously no good at it.

| Here or not Chapter Thirty-Eight - The Second War Begins
This is the ending to it all. The school year ends. Harry's story is printed in the Daily Prophet so everybody believes that he really is a hero and not some mad attention-hungry liar. Harry goes back to the Dursleys escorted by some of his chums from the Order who threaten Uncle Vernon to treat Harry nice or he will have them to answer to.
Excellent happy ending. It was really a relief to finish the book. And I must say that it all kinda went downhill after the battle with Voldie and the Death Eaters. It wasn't paced very well I guess. I imagine they will have a heck of a time making this one into a movie.
