Harry Potter and the Prizoner of Azkaban
Harry Potter and the Prizoner of Azkaban is the third book in the Harry Potter series. It was first published in 1999.
Harry Potter, along with his best friends, Ron and Hermione, is about to start his third year at Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. Harry can't wait to get back to school after the summer holidays. (WHo wouldn't if they lived with the horrible Dursleys?) But when Harry gets to Hogwarts, the atmosphere is tense. There is an escaped mass murdered on the loose, and the sinister prison guards of Azkaban have been called in to guard the school. |

Chapter Two - Aunt Marge's Big Mistake
Uncle Vernon's sister Marge is coming to visit. Aunt Marge hates Harry and likes to criticize him. Uncle Vernon promises to sign a Hogwarts form if Harry behave while she is there. This goes fairly well untill the last night when Aunt Marge start mocking Harry's parents. Harry blows her up and run away in anger, thinking he will be expelled. | |

Chapter Tree - The Knight Bus
Harry runs to a street nearby and forms a plan in his mind. When he lights his wand, he sees a great, balck dog and falls in the gutter. Then he is alsmost run over by a violent purple bus. The Knight Bus (as it is called) picks up Harry. Harry lies about his name, because he don't want to be recognised. On the way to London, he learns that a man by the name of Sirius Black, a dangerous mass murder, is on the loose. When Harrt arrives in London, Cornelius Fudge is waiting for him and tells him to stay at the Leacky Cauldron. | |

Chapter Four - The Leacky Cauldron
Harry enjoys being in Diagon Alley, he goes every day to ogle at the newest type of broom: Firebolt (price on request). At the last day of the holiday Hermione and the Weasley arrive to buy books and take Harry and co to Hogwarts the next day.
Scabbers, Ron's rat is looking off coloured and Hermione wants to buy an animal. She ends up buying a cat that disliked to eat Scabbers, because she feels sorry for it.
Before he is going to bed, Harry hears Mr. and Mrs. Weasley have a fight about whether they should thell him (Harry) that Black is after Harry.
We also learn that Percy has become a Head Boy. | |

Chapter Five - The Dementor
Harry, Hermione and the Weasleys get to Kings Cross by Ministry cars. Before the train leaves, Mr. Weasley wants to tell Harry about Black, but Harry confesses that he overheard the fight the previous night.
On the train they meet the new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, who is sleeping in the compartment Harry, Ron and Hermione sits in. On the trainride we meet the prison guards of Azkaban, the Dementors. They make Harry faint because of his horrible experience when he was little.
We learn that the Dementors has been placed around the entrances to Hogwarts to secure the castle. | |

Chapter Six - Talons and Tea Leaves
Harry learns that Hagrid is the new Care of Magical Creature teacher and Hagrid wants to give good lessons. He starts off with Hippogriffs, and one of them, Buckbeack, injure Malfoy. Hagrid is sure he will be saced.
Harry also has his first Divination class and learns that the professor is a fraud who likes to predict deaths. In this class it is Harry and she allegedly see the Grim (a dog that haunts graveyards and is a sign of death) in Harry's cup.
Ron is very interested in Hermione's timetable: It is too full with classes and he wonders how she can make them all.

Chapter Seven - The Boggart in the Wardrobe
We follow Harry in potions where Snape is as mean as ever. We also get to see the first Defence Against the Arts class. There they are to fight a Boggart, a shape shifter that turns into what you are the most afraid of, but Harry doesn't have a go.
We also get to know Lupin, the new teacher and a very cool one at that. Very good chapter! | |

Chapter Eight - The Flight of the Fat Lady
It is the first Hogsmeade Weekend, but Harry can't go because Uncle Vernon didn't sign his form. Instead he walks around in the castle. Professor Lupin take Harry to his office and they have a nice chat about why Harry didn't get to fight the Boggart among other things.
Later when the Halowe'en feast is over and they are to return to their common rooms; they discover that someone (Black) has tried to break into the Gryffondor common room by slashing the Fat Lady's painting. The Fat Lady has fled. | |

Chapter Nine - Grim Defeat
Lupin is ill so they have Snape in Defence Against the Dark Arts and he is horrible; trying to teach them about Werewolfs, even though they are supposed to start somthing else.
Gryffindor is supposed to play Slytherin, but because of Malfoy's fainged injury, they have to play Hufflepuff instead. The weather is horrible, but the match goes ok untill the Dementors come into the Quidditch Pitch. Harry sees a great black dog at the top of the stands, the Dementors and he faints just as he reaches for the Snitch.
Harry's brookstick fly off course and hits the Whomping Willow, ergo it gets ruined. | |

Chapter Ten - The Maurader's Map
Harry has a small chat with Lupin after class, where Lupin agrees to help Harry with his Dementor problem after Christmas.
The last day before the holidays is a Hogsmead weekend. Fred and George Weasley give Harry a map over Hogwarts. Apart from showing all the corridors and such at Hogwarts it shows where everyone is.
Harry use this to get in to Hogsmeade and while they sit in the Three Broomsticks the teachers and Mr. Fudge arrive. They talk about Black and how he was best friends with James and that Black had betrayed his partents. | |

Chapter Eleven - The Firebolt
Harry is very angry and wants to confront Hagrid. However when they get there Hagrid is in tears; Buckbeak is going to the court for attacking Malfoy.
On Christmas Day Harry recieves a firebolt from an unknown person, Hermione thinks it may be sent by Sirius Black. They enjoy a nice luch, but Lupin is ill again. Hermione tells McGonagall about the Firebolt and McGonagall confiscate it. | |

Chapter Twelve - The Patronous
Harry and Ron are furious with Hermione. Hermione is very stressed and overworked. Apart from the huge mass of homework she helps Hagrid with information so he can win the trial.
Harry starts his lessons with Lupin and they go alright. But the memories gets clearer and clearer and it is hard for Harry to hear it. He doesn't succeed to create a true patronous, but he learns it to some extent.
Harry finally gets his Firebolt back and decides to talk to the strained Hermione again. However just as they try, Ron finds out that Crookshanks has finally eaten Scabbers. | |

Chapter Thirteen - Gryffindor Versus Ravenclaw
Harry and the team is very proud of the Firebolt and wants to show it off.
Gryffindor plays Ravenclaw and win.
In the dead of the night Harry and the other Gryffindor's are awoken by Ron scraming. Ron said he awoke with Black over him. No one really believes him untill Sir Cadogan (a portrait of a mad knight) confirms that he indeed let a man enter the Gryffindor common room. | |

Chapter Fourteen - Snape's Grudge
Hagrid invites Harry and Ron to visit him. The subject of discussion is Hermione; Hagrid thinks Harry and Ron is too hard on her and that she has been visiting him a lot, crying.
Harry sneaks into Hogsmeade again and this time he is not so lucky; When he and Ron is playing a trick on Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle, Harry's invisibility cloak slides of his head and Malfoy sees it. Malfoy run back and alerts Snape and Harry gets as fast as possible back to Hogwarts.
He meets Snape who is trying to provoke Harry to tell him that he has been there. When Snape sees the Marauder's Map, he summons Lupin, because he can't figure out what it is. Lupin says that it is a joke object from Zonko's. Afterwards he tells Harry and Ron that he knows what it is and confiscate it. | |

Chapter Fifteen - The Quidditch Final
Hagrid lost the appeal and Buckbeak is going to be excecuted. Ron is now helping Hermione look for information for the appeal.'
Hermione has had it with Divination and leaves in the middle of a class. She also hits Malfoy around the face when he insults Hagrid.
The atmosphere at Hogwarts is tense as the Quidditch Final between Gryffindor and Slytherin draws closer.
The match gets dirty. The match is very exciting and Gryffindor wins the Quidditch Cup. | |

Chapter Sixteen - Professor Trelawney's Prediction
Their finals are upon them and we hear how it goes. Before the last final they get to know that Hagrid lost the appeal and that Buckbeak will be executed that night.
Harry is the last to have the Divination final. He can't see anything in the orb, so he just makes somthing up. When Harry is to leave Professor Trelawney gets all weird and tells him that a servant of Lord Voldemort will escape and help his master to raise again.
Harry, Ron and Hermione goes down to Hagrid under the invisibility cloack to support him. Hagrid is beyond tears and is shaking all over. He breaks the milkjug and Hermione gets a new one. There she finds Scabbers, who is fighting franatically to get away.
They have to leave and since Scabbers will not stay put in Ron's pocket they have to stop before the Whomping Willow and they hear the axe hit wood. | |

Chapter Seventeen - Cat, Rat and Dog
Harry, Ron and Hermione is attacked by a large black dog that Harry recogises as the one that he has seen. The dog drags Ron into the Whomping Willow and Harry and Hermione follows by the help of Crookshanks.
They end up in the Shrieking Shack and it turns out that the dog is an animagus and is really Sirius Black. Harry wants to kill Black, but doesn't do it. Lupin arrives and they think they are saved, but Lupin seems to be friends with Black. The trio is horrified and Hermione tells them that Lupin is a werewolf.
Black and Lupin try to get Harry, Ron and Hermione to believe that Black is innocent and tells them that Scabbers is an animagus by the name of Peter Pettigrew. | |

Lupin and Sirius tell Harry, Ron and Hermione about how it used to be and that Sirius is innocent. At the end of the chapter Snape appears. | |

Snape seems insane and is going to turn them all in. However Harry, Ron and Hermione stops him. They see that Scabber indeed is Wormtail/Peter Pettigrew and Harry finally believes them. | |

They all leave the Shrieking Shack, but when they reach the grounds Lupin changes to a werewolf and Wormtail escapes. The Dementors try to give Harry and Sirius kisses. | |

Chapter Twenty-Two - Owl Post Again
The Minister of Magic doesn't believe Harry's story and Mr. Fudge is angry when he realizes that Sirius Black has once again escaped.
On the train home Harry recieves a letter from Sirius giving Harry permision to visit Hogsmeade. Also that Sirius was the one that gave Harry the Firebolt. Sirius tells Ron that he can keep the owl that delivered the letter. | |
