House of Gaunt (Inactive RPs)This is the forum where all of the unfortunate roleplays go when they become inactive in Borgins or The Manor. You may reactivate an RP if you PM one of our staff. No posting.
This rp is based on the book Oliver Twist, by Charles Dickens. It is set in the year 1840, so when role-playing, please respect that is 1840, no iPods no slang, (unless you're cockney) and for the girls- certainly no trousers! It is interwoven in to Hogwarts, another work of fiction by JK Rowling.
After being trialed, the Artful Dodger, Jack Dawkins, was sentenced to life in a penal colony in Australia. However, he manages to have a few strings pulled, and instead he is left in prison in London, where he must wait for his sentence.
Shortly afterwards, his old friend Oliver Twist is thrown in with him, it seems he and Charley Bates found themselves caught up with yet another gang of criminals, this time led by a man named Richie Stubbs, who in the muggle world in a not-so-well known thief, and in the wizarding world, a notorious mass murderer.
So, the wizard police come to the prison where they take Oliver, Dodger and Charley and send them to Hogwarts where they may stay. Obviously uneducated and non-wizard, the three of them are only there for food and lodging, and may spend their time assisting Grout, the caretaker.
Oliver finds himself immersed in the wizarding world, and it's books and lessons, and often sneaks in to classes. Charley finds himself trying to stick closely to the rules, and becomes great friends with the boys. Dodger finds himself still pick-pocketing and stealing, out of pure habit though now he has no real need to. He also tries to find out what he can about this 'Stubbs' business.

Oliver finds himself liking Imogen Adanet, who comes from a wealthy background. She likes him as well, but her twin brother Nathan is trying to separate them.
Charley realises that he is liked by Bess Barker, a frightening rowdy girl, eager to pry on his innocence. He, however, takes a liking to Lottie Cain, who is 'courting' his best friend Will Simons. He is also good friends with Redd Watson, though Redd is quite serious and scares Charley slightly.
Dodger has no interest in courting anyone, but Tilly Dervish, a fellow poor orphaned Londoner, is attracted to him. She is well capable of caring for herself, and quite admired by many boys, but she finds many of them too 'poncy' as she puts it. He is best friends with Tommy Cooke, who shared his upbringing.

Histroy:Natalie Henrietta Dervish was born to Amos and Hettie Dervish on the 3rd of July.Coming from a poor background,she didn`t have anything extra other than she needed.She often had to work for food,which is quite sad.On the 3rd of July,her parents died in a Brougham which fell into a river.This deeply saddened her,seeing that her birthday would also be remembered as the day her parents died.Not long after,she had recieved a Hogwarts acception letter,which surprised her.She had no idea whatsoever what to do with it.Someone had to come and help her(much like Hagrid with Harry Potter) with all of the shopping.Then it was time for her to go to Hogwarts.It was no surprise that she would be sorted into Hufflepuff,as many people had already figured that out before the Sorting ceremony.Over the years,she was "pulled" into "popularity",not exactly wanting to be in it.Despite all the boys that fancied her,she was attracted to the one and only Dodger,one of the caretaker's helpers.Why one of the caretaker's helper?,people asked because they all very well knew that Tilly practically had access to any boy at Hogwarts.Well,you'll just have to figure it out for yourself.....

Flo looks to be your average angel girl. Sweet, kind and intelligent, she tries very hard to please her parents and teachers. Her friends, however, know that she longs for something more than the restricted life of a wealthy man's daughter, and eventually a wealthy man's wife. Which is why the Room of Requirement is used in secret regularly by Flo, who trains herself in duelling and generally how to defend herself. This angel princess is no damsel in distress.
Flo's father Harrison estranged from his older half-brother Bill when he was a young man. He didn't know of Bill's shady dealings until Bill's death, when he was finally informed of it, being his closest relative now that their father and Bill's mother were dead. Harrison has kept this information from his children, not wishing them to be tempted into the world that ruined Bill.
Flo has always been downtrodden, always passed over in favour of her brothers. "Young ladies must be seen and not heard", apparently. Her parents are fiercely overprotective of her and her sisters, leading to her brothers feeling the same way. Alexander is often nearby, trying to help Flo with everything from lessons to friends. While Flo understands that he's only trying to be nice, she wishes he'd lay off.

Angelina Hackett, the youngest and only daughter of the four siblings, born to Jeanette and David Hackett on the 12th August at 4am, in her parents bedroom. Life was easy then. When she grew older it got worse, because of stupid, annoying, teasing, infuriating older sisters. Who Jennifer hated to bits. As the youngest, she was bossed round as well as being her parents’ favourite, even if they wouldn’t admit it, but she knew how to stand up to them so they backed off a bit. Jennifer grew up loving quiddich like the rest of her family. She played nearly everyday with her brothers as seeker for them, because as the smallest then, it was the position suiting her best and that was her position for the rest of her life. A stubborn mule at times, with a habit of watching junk TV and shouting at anyone who entered her room. Which happened a lot with two nosy, interfering older brothers. Jennifer never really grew out of it, that fiery personality staying for good. An avid quiditch fan, Jenn is a BIG Tornados Fan and won't hear anything against her team.
When she went to Hogwarts, she was, unsurprisingly sorted into Slytherin, in her opinion the most awesome house, and the one the whole family had been in. Jennifer had to survive until her third year with one brother still at Hogwarts, but she had nothing to do with him. In her second year, she was put on the quiddich team, unsurprisingly, as seeker. In fifth year, Jenn was made a Prefect, going on to Head Girl. Yes, of the WHOLE SCHOOL. And she was proud.
To make a long story short, Jennifer came back to teach potions, her best subject.

Hey. Call me Will. I'm just a normal boy. I have two other siblings, Jane and Mary, both younger than me, and both female. I used to spend all my time with my uncle, training to become a smith, like he was. Ever since I was young, I was told that I was already betrothed to my far cousin, who was the daughter of a count. So see, my life was pretty normal. But that was before I received my letter. My parents were scared for me, scared of what the people might say, they told me not to go, but my uncle convinced them that there was nothing to worry about.
So now here I am at Hogwarts, happier than I ever was with my muggle life. I've found lots of friends too, like my best friend, Lottie. I'm not particularly good with any of the classes here, but I get along. I love Quidditch, though. It's amazing how we can soar through the sky like that. I don't wanna think of what my parents would say when they see me there, however.
People say I'm friendly. Now that I think about it, maybe I really am. I love meeting new people, knowing about them. When someone is in trouble, I do my best to help. I'm hoping to be a prefect next year, too. Maybe that would make my parents feel even just a little bit better about me. What else? Things I hate? Homework, I guess. I hate spending my time just sitting around, thinking of what to write for all those long essay requirements.

History
Astra is quite a fun person, but a little unpredictable at times. With every Astronomy lesson comes a surprise. Once, when they were learning about constellations, Astra made a small, glowing connnect-the-dots on each of her student's telescopes before the class started.
All the other staff members enjoy her company, and think of her more as a friend that a colleague.
She knows how to make students feel better when they are stressed or confused - like a guidance counsellor of sorts. The students know this, and come to her in times of need. Astra can also tell when people are hiding things, but usually doesn't press them for information. If they didn't want to tell anybody, it was entirely up to them.

Pets: A tabby kitten named Bug-Eyes (see Photo Album). Bug is an Egyptian Mau, and small enough to sit on Nathan's head. Nathan takes Bug everywhere with him. If you look at the photo, you'll see why the kitten is called Bug-Eyes.
Nathan was a troublemaker from a young age. When he was a few months old, he was forever trying to escape his nurse, and was always the noisy baby. As he grow up, Nathan learnt the joys of climbing trees, jumping in mud puddles, and generally making life difficult for his nannies and tutors, who could often be heard mumbling under their breath about not being paid enough for looking after the devil's child. When they were seven years old, Imogen and Nathan's mother Louise died from a disease while pregnant. This had a profound impact on Nathan's life, and he still doesn't like to talk of his mother.
Nathan is mischievous and carefree - a lot like the Dodger, but with money. He is a flirt, and often teases girls because he likes them. He doesn't like to be kept waiting around, and that includes by teachers in boring lessons. While he may seem outspoken and a little rough at times, Nathan has a softer side, and is a comfort if you need it. Although he won't hesitate to give you a good slap if you need that too.
It was his mother's untimely death that made Nathan so protective of his sister. He had been with her during the most traumatic time in their lives, and never wanted her to hurt like that again.
So watch out, Oliver Twist. Don't go messing with the Adanets.

Hey. Call me Will. I'm just a normal boy. I have two other siblings, Jane and Mary, both younger than me, and both female. I used to spend all my time with my uncle, training to become a smith, like he was. Ever since I was young, I was told that I was already betrothed to my far cousin, who was the daughter of a count. So see, my life was pretty normal. But that was before I received my letter. My parents were scared for me, scared of what the people might say, they told me not to go, but my uncle convinced them that there was nothing to worry about.
So now here I am at Hogwarts, happier than I ever was with my muggle life. I've found lots of friends too, like my best friend, Lottie. I'm not particularly good with any of the classes here, but I get along. I love Quidditch, though. It's amazing how we can soar through the sky like that. I don't wanna think of what my parents would say when they see me there, however.
People say I'm friendly. Now that I think about it, maybe I really am. I love meeting new people, knowing about them. When someone is in trouble, I do my best to help. I'm hoping to be a prefect next year, too. Maybe that would make my parents feel even just a little bit better about me. What else? Things I hate? Homework, I guess. I hate spending my time just sitting around, thinking of what to write for all those long essay requirements.

History
Astra is quite a fun person, but a little unpredictable at times. With every Astronomy lesson comes a surprise. Once, when they were learning about constellations, Astra made a small, glowing connnect-the-dots on each of her student's telescopes before the class started.
All the other staff members enjoy her company, and think of her more as a friend that a colleague.
She knows how to make students feel better when they are stressed or confused - like a guidance counsellor of sorts. The students know this, and come to her in times of need. Astra can also tell when people are hiding things, but usually doesn't press them for information. If they didn't want to tell anybody, it was entirely up to them.
