Summary: It's Harry Potter's fifth year at Hogwarts, and the world has been overrun by the undead. Zombies have rampaged all across the United Kingdom, killing millions and infecting thousands more.

The muggle world is on the brink of collapse, and the wizarding world isn't fairing much better. All the wizards that remain alive and uninfected are barricaded in Hogwarts, which has become the wizarding world's school, government, and community.

For Harry Potter, the zombie apocalypse is just one more grievance in his already over stressed life. If Voldemort wasn't enough to worry about, he now has to take occlumency lessons with his hated potions professor, deal with the bickering of his two best friends, confront his feelings for the pretty Cho Chang, and avoid the attentions of the minister and his lackeys.

On top of everything else, Harry is dealing with the death of his Aunt, Uncle, and cousin, who were killed by the zombies, and the uncertainty that comes with having no real home. Although Sirius, Lupin, and the rest of the Order are now living in the castle, their close proximity to Harry, Snape, and the Ministry is causing a lot of problems.

As the inhabitants of Hogwarts struggle to co-exist, Harry feels the many stresses of his life wearing him down. How long will the zombie apocalypse last? And will they make it?

Note: I plan on incorporating aspects of the 5th, 6th, and 7th books into this story. It's going to be crazy!

You may take two characters, but be nice about it. For example, don't take Ron and Hermione, as they're clearly both main characters. All characters are canon, so bio's are not necessary.

As far as the story goes, you do not have to stick strictly to canon. You can branch out or change storylines, but within reason. So for example, if Ginny wants to get a little proactive and woo Harry a year early, well...all the power to her. But Harry's not about to become the next Voldemort, sorry.

I generally don't allow made-ups in my RPs. I feel like they tend to not really have a place within the story and therefore get left behind. Sorry

OOC: Okay, time to get started! I'll leave the open characters open so if anyone wants to join later they can.

All the 4th, 5th, and 6th year students are in an extended DADA class, which has become the focal point of classes. The class is being taught by Umbridge, who is up to her usual antics. After we have RP-ed in the class for a while, something is going to happen. I may clue in some of the "adults" in the RP so they can act appropriately.

Harry sat in Defense Against the Dark Arts in the second row from the front between his two best friends. Despite his efforts, he couldn't hold back the scowl that was forming on his face. This class couldn't be more of a waste of time! They were reading the same chapter they'd been reading for the last two classes, and Umbridge was making her usual remarks towards him.

"Mr. Potter?" Umbridge gave her little cough as she took tiny strides towards his desk. "Mr Potter?"

He gritted his teeth. "Yes, M'am?"

"You don't look like you're reading."

Harry bit his lip so hard he drew blood. "I've already read this chapter, M'am. Twice," he replied as calmly as he could manage.

She had reached his desk. She placed her perfectly manicured hands on the edge of it and looked down at him with a deceptively sweet smile. "Well, I believe I asked you to read it again."

Harry snapped. "And what's the point of that?" As if to make his point, he slammed the cover of his book shut.

"Detention!" Umbridge exclaimed in an uncharacteristaclly loud voice. "For questioning your professor."

Ginny was sitting rather close to Harry so she heand she heard just about everything of Ubridges exchange with Harry and she could feel her blood boiling. She was absolutely fed up with Umbridge and the fact that she kind of liked Harry really did not help things any. She poked her head out of her book and blurted out, "Thats not fair, we should have every right to question a professor, especially you.". She then quickly put her hand over her mouth. She was definitely in for it now but she was happy that she did the right thing.

Luna giggled, enjoying Harry's defiance, but serioused fairly quickly. "Umbridge." She said without raising her hand, as usual forgetting that this cruel woman was in fact a professor. "I don't think Harry deserves a detention for simply stating the obvious. I hope you realise if you mistreat others without need, the nargles will probably steal your shoes."

Cho stared at the desk awkwardly as Harry tried to stand up to Umbridge for the gazilionth time, her gaze briefly flickered to the youngest Weasley before it went straight back to her book, she sighed uncontentedly and carried on reading, her eyes occasionally moving upwards to Harry and Umbridge

Draco looked up from the book he'd been pretending to read for the past half hour and snickered at Potty getting detention. 'Enjoy writing lines, Potter.' He smirked as he fingered his inquisitorial badge.

Oh, he'd make Potter pay for what had happened to his sister, all because Potty had defeated the Dark Lord again. The images of Cassiopeia flashed through his mind, her laughing, then tortured under the Cruciatus, the terrible sight of her 9 year old face looking so agonized, the serpentine burns on her arms, seeing the Dark Lord laughing the entire time he yelled "CRUCIO!" at his baby sister.

Yes, Draco loved Cassie, very much. He'd give up his life for her if he needed to. He held back a shudder as the flashes of what'd happen to Cassie if he failed again.

Hermione sat in class, next to Ron. As Harry's best friend, she knew that she should speak up and do something. But...she wasn't sure how that would look on her record. Getting detention could ruin everything. And she couldn't jeopardize that, not this year. She watched in silence as other classmates stood up for him, knowing that they would suffer the same fate as he.

As the class spoke out against Umbridge, her face turned rapidly more pink. "Enough!" She shrieked. Turning to Ginny, she said, "You do NOT have the right to question your professors. You are here at school to do as your told to the best of your ability. Now, you can join Mr. Potter in detention."

She glanced at Luna at her strange comment, but chose to ignore her. It was usually easier that way.

Harry pratically snarled at Malfoy's comment. He knows. He knows what that cow Umbridge does in her detentions. And he's laughing about it. If Harry had any doubt about how evil Malfoy was, it disappeared in that moment.

With Malfoy's smirk flashing in his mind, Harry stood. "No, Professor. I won't go to detention."

Umbridge became perfectly still. "I think you will, Mr. Potter."

Harry gritted his teeth. "No, I refuse."

"Then you may leave this classroom and go to the headmaster's office."

"Fine!" Harry snapped, and made his way to the door. Just before he reached it, however, it swung open.

Oh Harry. Hermione thought as she saw him storm out of the class. I know you are stressed...but why do you have to stand up this year? She honestly was surprised at Harry's reaction, he normally wasn't this outspoken against teachers. Talking was one thing, but storming out of the room after refusing detention was a totally different thing. She elbowed Ron in the ribs. "Maybe you should go after him?" She said quietly. She wasn't exactly sure how to handle Harry sometimes, and others she knew it would be easier to talk to him.

This was not one of those times. Ron would be better suited to talk to him right now, not her. She would catch up with them after class.

"You're such a son of a banshee." Said Luna loudly, proud of her new insult, and also emphasising on the 'son' part of it. She frowned, as Harry left. "You're truly horrid." She said bluntly, and got up to follow Harry.

"I won't be going to detention either you toad faced cow", Ginny blurted out after Harry stood up to Umbridge. She then got up and and left the room after Luna and Harry. That women could send her to visit the headmaster or even the giant squid for all she cared. She was out of there before Umbridge would even have time to respond. She was sure she was gonna be in big trouble but that really did not phase her at the moment. She was just glad she found the courage to say what she said regardless the cost.
