June 2069,

Raven Athlon, the Irish Heartbreaker herself moved from Kilkenny, Ireland to London so she could attend the prestigious Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the fall but was stuck pretty much in London until July when she could go to Diagon Alley. Little did she know that there was someone else in the same position that she was in..

Asher Hawthorne, one of the most talented students at his old school also moved but he moved from New York City to London with his sister Kenadie who works in the Ministry of Magic. He was awaiting the day that he got to head to Hogwarts unfortunately that day wasn't coming anytime soon, he had no idea that he would meet someone that was definately going to intrigue him..

One day in Muggle London, Asher and Raven ran into into each other and things were never the same after that..

Raven decided to go back out to Muggle London, merlin things were different than what she was used to but she was just fascinated by the many electronic objects which kept muggles entertained. Quidditch was what kept her entertained and she wasn't sure exactly how sitting in front of something called a television was any fun.

As she walked along the sidewalk, she couldn't help but smirk to herself when she noticed all the guys stopping and staring at her; however she only was really interested in one guy and that was Asher. After she met him the first time, she knew that he was certainly different compared to the other guys she had been seen with.

Asher thought back to the first day he met Raven and smiled. He was walking around London, biding his time until he was supposed to meet her. God, she was incredible. He shook his head and smiled some more. Their conversation was so easy. He had only met her once, and she had caught his attention more than girls he had known for four years had ever been able to. His walk gained a little bounce just at the thought of her.

He walked into a Muggle clothes shop and looked around, finding some promising prospects for clothing. He loved clothes, unlike most guys who didn’t care how they dressed. The outfit he was wearing consisted of a tight black t-shirt and dark jeans. He wondered if Raven was partial to black. He remembered suddenly the first time he had seen her. He hadn’t really known how he had known she was more than a Muggle, more than the other girls walking around her. He supposed it was simply that there was something…well, magical about her.

He was becoming impatient. He was ready to see her. He walked out of the store without picking up a single piece of merchandise and began walking to their usual meeting place: the slab of sidewalk right outside the Leaky Cauldron.

As he walk, he played with his wand in his pocket and thought of Raven. He pulled out his iPod, an ingenious Muggle invention in his opinion. Music wherever you went? It was so perfect for Asher. He clicked a song that he’d been playing altogether too often lately and listened to the lyrics as he read the artist and song title scrolling across the screen, “The Used-Smother Me.”

He sighed and looked around the street he had made his way to rather quickly. He looked around, waiting for Raven. She should be here any time now. He wasn’t as early as he thought he was. He felt an unfamiliar anxiousness bubble in his stomach and grinned slightly at himself thinking, “Geez, Asher. She’s just a girl!”

Raven continued walking along the sidewalk, not really paying much attention to anyone else looking her; frankly they weren't really were worth her time anyway. No one here would know that she was actually a witch, the only one that would have known was Asher but it was really difficult to tell whether or not she was just simply a Muggle.

She was getting a bit anxious and nervous to see him again, that was totally unlike her to be like this over a guy. She was a heartbreaker for merlins sake! She usually made guys feel this way until she was around but this time around things were much different, confusing in a way, she'd never felt this way before.

What was it about Asher that made her like this? That was a question that didn't really have an answer to it..yet. Only time would tell until she knew for sure why he was just so much different than the other guys she had been with before.

Heading towards the Leaky Cauldron, she noticed Asher standing where they first met; a smile formed on her red lips. She straightened out her dark blue skirt and white top, making sure that it was perfect; taking out her mirror, she made sure that her hair looked good. After about 2 minutes, she put her mirror away then walked over and practically stood right in front of him.

Asher came out of a trance-like state and pulled his earphones out of his ears, smiling at Raven. They had a sort of no-contact relationship since they had only ever met once, and he already felt an immense amount of respect for this girl.

"Hey Rae," he said without thinking. Smiling was so easy with her. Conversation was easy. Everything just...flowed. Worked. "I've been waiting," he said, smirking at her. "You look nice, of course," he added, a definite understatement.

Raven smiled once Asher had called her Rae, normally she would have had to curse someone into next week for calling her that but there was no way that she was going to do that to him. "Sorry for keeping you waiting Ash, but I think I got lost." She said then smiled once again, seriously you could get lost easily here, she wasn't sure how the Muggles did it.

"Well thank you, I do try my best to look good all the time." She commented then smirked slightly.

Asher smirked more than ever. "Wow, lost?" he asked her, a laugh playing in his voice, "I figured such a 'talented witch' as yourself would have no problem finding her way around a silly little Muggle town." Okay, so he was teasing her. And he wasn't gonna bother lying... he was enjoying himself. He laughed.

He noted that she called him Ash, something that people had done all his life. And yet somehow, he realized, it sounded so different when she said it. So much...better.

Wow, she actually has to try to look good? he thought to himself, but said, "Well, I have only been lucky enough to see you twice, but you've looked just great both times." He winked at her.

"Well I'm not used to travelling around a Muggle town, I came from a whole wizarding city so this takes some time to get adjusted to." Raven said then rolled her eyes slightly and smirked slightly. She could tell that he was just teasing and so was she a little bit, that was the fun part of being able to read people.

"If you ever see me before my hair and makeup is done, well let's just say its not really pretty." She said then giggled and blushed as his comment; it seemed right now being around him, it felt like there were butterflies in her stomach. She was so nervous for some reason.

"I highly doubt that," Asher said, and he was being a hundred percent truthful; he couldn't imagine Raven looking "not really pretty." He rolled his eyes right back at her.

"Well," he said, his tone suddenly becoming playfully arrogant, "When you're from New York City, I guess you have a little more street smarts than every other person running around in the world." He smirked at her and laughed lightly to let her know he was just kidding.

"Well if you're ever at my house like before the afternoon, then you'll see me when my hair's a mess and I'm not wearing makeup." Raven said, then smirked a bit; well maybe she didn't look that bad without makeup but still. Asher's comment made her blush more, there were more butterflies in her stomach thanks to his words.

"Right, well we aren't all from a big city now are we? Kilkenny isn't that big compared to New York City and I like it that way." She said, then rolled her eyes and started walking into the Leaky Cauldron. "Now, would you care to escort me or shall I have to walk around myself?" She asked then smirked and put one hand on her waist.

Asher listened to Raven's claims that she looked not-so-pretty at her house before her make up was done and smirked. "Was that an invite to your house?" He raised his eyebrows and grinned playfully at her. He noticed her blushing and felt a rush of satisfaction in his stomach.

"You like the smaller town thing? So...you wouldn't go with me to New York someday?" he asked her, a tinge of sadness playing its way into his voice.

He noticed her gesturing that she wanted to go into the Leaky Cauldron. He checked to make sure his iPod was securely turned off so the battery wouldn't die and nodded. "I suppose a butterbeer sounds nice before we go and walk around the lovely Muggle world, doesn't it?"

"Maybe it is" Raven said with a wink and a slight smirk, she wasn't going to just be blunt and come right out and say it; no that would be much fun at all now would it?

"I never said that I wouldn't Ash, it would just be different for me that's all. Someday, I would go with you for sure." She said and smiled, well it was true that she did go for the smaller cities however she was open to new experiences.

"That it does, merlin its been ages since I've had a good butterbeer. We really don't drink much of the stuff in Ireland and frankly the butterbeer substitute that's in Kilkenny is actually pretty disgusting." She said then waited for Asher to head inside with her.

Asher felt a slight flush on his face when Raven winked at him. He smirked back, but he thought she had to have noticed the color rush to his cheeks. Why was he blushing?!

"I love New York, and it's always fun to take people who have never been," said Asher, feeling the familiarity of easy conversation. "So whenever you feel like traveling, just let me know." He smiled at her, glancing over at her and marveling at how great she looked.

"It's been a while since I've had any, too. Mainly because I haven't been in the Leaky Cauldron since I came to London. I didn't want to go alone." Asher reached over and opened the door, gesturing for her to go in first. "Ladies first, after all," he said with a slight bow and wink at her.

Raven took note at Asher blushing, well now that was definately interesting; she'd never seen a guy blush before and it was quite amusing to think that she could easily do that.

"Well, I think I'll look forward to going to New York with you." She said with a slight smirk; it was for sure going to be an interesting trip, it didn't really matter where they went as long as she was around him, she really didn't care.

"Ah that makes perfect sense." She said then blushed when he opened the door, when he did a slight bow then winked at her, she was taken aback a little, no guy had ever done this for her before. "Well, you're certainly quite the gentleman Ash" She commented and smiled before heading into the Leaky Cauldron.

"I'll hold you to that trip, you know?" he said, smirking over at Raven as they walked into the Leaky Cauldron together. He looked around and took in their surroundings. He headed toward the bar and asked the barman for two butterbeers. When the barman handed them their drinks, Asher led her to a table and pulled out her chair for her, allowing her to sit down first.

"I don't exactly try to be a gentleman or anything like that to look good or to look noble or anything," he said, being honest. "I do it really because of Kenedie. See. Kenedie is my older sister, right? I have watched her for years and years go through hell with guys. I have seen her cry. She has came in my room in the middle of the night and just asked if she could sleep in there because she didn't want to be alone. I honestly have wanted to kill guys for the things they have done to her before. I don't wanna be the guy that brothers want to kill. So when I am around girls, whether I'm pursuing them or not, I treat them with respect. It's what they deserve. It's what Kenedie deserved."

He stopped talking and took a drink of his butterbeer, surprised by his suddenly gush of honesty and intimacy. He had never talked about that stuff with a girl before. He shifted his feet under the table and thought to himself that Raven truly was different than anyone he could remember ever knowing, male or female.

"I figured that you would and I shall keep my word." Raven said then sat down in the chair that Asher had pulled out for her, she definately was enjoying this attention.

She patiently listened as he had began talking, she definately had a bit of sympathy for him doing that. "Well, I was a heartbreaker. Trust me, its not the easiest thing in the world to want to break a guy's heart in less than a week but I did it and it took an emotional toll on me. I spent nights at home, crying for a few hours because I had been the one who caused a lot of guys to be in pain and when I first met you, I just didn't want to hurt you like I would have in the past because you just were different from what I've seen before."

She took a sip of her butterbeer after she was finished talking, she really hadn't told people the whole story with her because it was not the best thing to talk about randomly in a conversation.

Asher listened to Raven talk about her past, about being a heartbreaker. He hadn't really expected that, if he was being honest with himself. He had figured that Raven had nothing dark in her past, nothing at all. He could see how easy it would be for her to break a guy's heart, though. She was stunning...and amazing.

"The fact that you spent time crying about it just shows that you're not heartless or anything like that, so don't think that," he said, his blue eyes boring into hers.

He listened to the rest of what she said and, as she took a sip of her butterbeer, he burst out, "How am I different from other guys?"

"Well I've been called heartless before, whoever said words don't hurt was definately wrong." Raven said, then took another sip of her butterbeer, tracing her fingers along the table.

"You're just really nice and funny, you know what to say that makes me blush and smile. You make me definately nervous which is something I've never felt before, I'm trying so hard here to be perfect in order to impress you." She said and smiled, some of the light from the lamps flashed into her hazel eyes and made them shimmer.

"They were wrong," Asher said simply. "I can tell you're not heartless. You have too much depth for that." He was being honest. If Raven was heartless, she wouldn't be so candid with him. She wouldn't be talking to him. She'd be using him. And he just knew she wasn't somehow.

Asher grinned at her. "You don't need to try to be perfect with me. Honestly, I think you're pretty amazing the way you are. And I don't see why I make you nervous. It's just little old me." He shrugged, gesturing that he was really nothing special. "But I DO think you're completely different than anyone I've ever met. That hit me within like ten minutes of meeting you the first time." He smirked at her.

"Well thank you Ash." Raven said and smiled, she knew he was being honest about it. She couldn't just use him to look good then throw him away like he was nothing, no that was the old Raven who did that.

"Well I can't help but be perfect around you." She said then sipped her butterbeer and blushing at his next comment. "I'm not exactly sure why either, but something about you has got me stumped. Aww well thanks, I've never heard anyone tell me that before." She said and smiled, continuing to trail her fingers over the table, she started to think that she was going to be more than just friends with him in time and that idea made her mentally smirk.

His eyes kept following her fingers trailing along the table, and he made a split second decision to go for it. He didn't know if she was thinking along the same lines as him, and he was scared to death of making a move only to be shut down, but she already meant enough that he really didn't care. He was willing to look stupid. The payoff was going to be greater than the risk if she didn't smack him or something.

He gently took her hand in his and said, "I can't imagine why you've never heard that before."

Ah how Raven wished she had the power to read minds, then she'd know exactly what Asher was thinking now. It was silent for a bit, but it wasn't an awkward silence which was definately different.

She looked down and noticed that he had taken her hand in his and smiled, it just felt right, like this had been the missing piece of the puzzle she was looking for all these years. "Well, not everyone sees what you do obviously." She commented and smirked.

"It's pretty easy to see," Asher said laughing slightly. He looked down at the table where their hands were interlocked and noticed something on Raven's wrist.

"What's that?" he asked, automatically touching her wrist lightly with his free hand.

Raven blushed a little bit, she had never blushed this much ever and it didn't feel bad or anything, she wasn't quite used to it yet however in time she'd hopefully be used to this feeling.

She stopped thinking once Asher asked about what was on her wrist. "Oh, its a tattoo. Well more specifically, its a tattoo of a heart with a lock over it. I've charmed the lock to open only when I meet the one guy that I'm truly meant to give my heart to." She said, automatically getting a few goosebumps from his touch.

Asher looked at her, his face showing how impressed he was. "That's quite a bit of clever magic," he said smiling at her. "So has it ever opened before?" When he had asked, his voice sounded very casual, almost too much so. He was trying so hard to sound unconcerned, but his curiosity was peaking. He wanted to know if he was too late, if he was taking a shot in the dark at this point.
