Humphry Trollop was a rotund, but rather bristly man. His uncanny talent for picking "roses" from the "weeds" of humankind was second only to his spectacular gift in smoke-ring blowing, which he cultivated with cuban cigars. His name was pleasant to roll from one's tongue, but rather misleading. Humphry was quite the opposite from the kind, twinkle-eyed Hufflepuff his name insinuated, though he did have a likable bit in his person, which is expected in a Charms teacher. We meet this man sitting just left of a tall man named Albus Dumbledore, both enjoying from behind a large staff table, the buzz and quiet rumble of another start of the Hogwarts school year. Both had their minds on fairly opposite ends, Professor Trollop's being both happily and pridefully centered on his prized House of purebloods, and their curious and eager anticipation, though barely detectable to the untrained and intimidated (as usual) eye. They seemed to be waiting for something, anticipating, now that he peered a bit closer, a very important person. Dumbledore however, was resting an uneasy thought in the front of his mind. Years before he had interviewed a young boy with a troubling, even menacing, mind and charm. He had been in an orphanage, alone, as he would certainly always be. A gleam in this young boys eye, a hunger, had not been duplicated, nor, even, mirrored until a certain week before this term. He was unable to finish his pondering as a low, curled voice entered his ear.

"Sir, you have been thinking most intently this week. Perhaps, it is the Potter boy?"

"No, Severus, Harry does not stir trouble in my mind."

"Then something troubles--"

"It is, I believe, of great importance, but, you will understand, I cannot discuss it openly."

"Of course."

The greasy-haired man turned back to face the incoming horde of excited, albeit damp, first years. The silver haired man had never looked away. Scanning quietly, and seeming to find what he had been expecting, the Headmaster turned ever so slightly to Severus.

"Sir?" Snape asked, sensing acutely Dumbledore's emotion.

The Headmaster began so quietly and with such deliberate weight, that Snape felt his heart begin to double in its rapid striking.

"Severus," he began, "You recall very accurately, I assume, Lord Voldemort's personality. You may be able to guess, then, but not fully understand how truly charming, fascinating, and powerful was the personality of Tom Riddle. I interviewed him some time ago as you have seen in the pensieve. What troubles me, Severus, is that I have had an almost exact encounter this week, with someone whom, I believe has the full potential of the Dark Lord."

"You cannot mean... sir, it is... so soon after he is gone?" Snape kept his voice even, but could not mask his dread.

"Professor, this person had never seen or been in contact with Lord Voldemort. His power, I am sure, would have been enticing to them, as it would have been to a young Tom, but they, I fear, will not be following an example. Will not need to."

Dumbledore turned again to the Hall, a mask of worry on his strong features and broken nose. He turned, again, ever so slightly, but to his other side this time to see what Humphry might be perceiving, sharp as he was. His thoughts were validated when the man narrowed his eyes, detecting true talent and charm, that would be soon, widespread. The Headmaster stared again forward, the greasy man finally processing his heavy words.

"Professor, you interviewed him this last week? The... boy, whom has the... That is what troubles you? You will stop it, of course. He cannot be in full swing yet, and you have caught it so early on... not hard at all... Will you be leaving, to... to sort this out?"

"There is no need, Severus. She is standing right in front of us."

Snape's head snapped up, to lock with a flashing pair of brilliant eyes that seemed to convey to him that they knew many, many secrets he did not.

Key Points:
Harry Potter, now in his fourth year, has grown up alongside Variska Vladimir. Having defeated Voldemort before ever reaching Hogwarts, there are, obviously, some drastic changes to the ordinary plot. No Voldemort, no Basilisk, etc. So far Harry has of course shown bravery and honesty, and this plot does not change him, only the surroundings. Hermione and Ron are same as ever, not involved of course, as we are in fourth year, but still brave and stuck to Harry. This RP will actually be based, as you may have guessed, around Slytherins. I understand that we are not to get vulgar or TOO dark, but this is a serious RP with a foot in the Dark Arts, not a romantic comedy. The glamour, evil, and dark circles of the Slytherin House are the staples of the plot, as is Variska. Now allow me to elaborate a bit on her. Variska is a Tom Riddle in many ways. The entire Slytherin House rallys around her, feeling glamorous and protected under her reign, young, and old. She has charmed Humphry Trollop, the Head of House, Snape, the Potions master, and virtually all but Dumbledore, who keeps close watch, but is still, as always, trusting. Teachers are all about the same, though, to add twist we will be including Sirius as professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts, and to add insult to injury (for lack of a better term), he is quite charmed (not taken, crushing on, or in love with, simply charmed and in good graces with) by Miss Variska. Now, onto the posse. Directly under Variska are (keeping with tradition) a few very good looking, intimidating, and pureblooded wizards and witches. Here I will allow some made-ups, and a few from the books. I think those are the most prominent points, if you have questions or suggestions, I would love to answer/hear them.

Edit: Please be sure before we start to read all made-up and main characters bios to get a feel for your fellow Purebloods & Parseltongues (after posting your own, of course). Here are a few variables you might want to consider (mainly for Slytherin) for your charries: parseltongue, family ties, friends, etc. Also bear in mind we will need to fill Professor slots as well. Thanks again, and please let other serious RPers know about this, I feel it could be a really brilliant RP with dedicated players and a bit of dark magic.

Edit: I've put everyone up, I think, and the only people we really need filled are Dumbledore, Snape, and Ron. I will, of course, be accepting more made-ups, because this is a rather large-scale RP. Another thing, I know that a few of us have decided to double up, it's fine with me if they REALLY want to, because it is a bigger responsibility and sometimes makes it harder to post worthwhile posts in BOTH. Anyways, I am in no way prohibiting it, but I would rather we found the remainder in other people =]. Personality: Pansy thinsk she is one of the fews slytherin princesses and she acts like it too. It seems that she acts ice cold just to impress the other people in her house but she doesnt. She is really as cold as ice. Some where deep inside there are kind thoughts but they have been locked away.

History: Pansy was born into a wealthy pureblooded family, and knows how to flaunt it. She has been spoilt by her parents and always get what she wants. She met Draco long before they began attended Hogwarts, she secretly quite likes him. Appearance: Shoulder length, very slightly wavy, black hair with a white streak in the front left. She is extremely pale, almost white, with bright green eyes that stick out from their sunken, dark surroundings. She is very tall and very thin. She looks almost under-fed. A thin scar runs diagonally down her back. Her clothes outside of class are generally black with a few exceptions, and never bright. Her black, knit, fingerless gloves never seem to leave her hands and her makeup always consists of at least eye-liner, but no blush, lipstick, or anything that makes her skin darker.
Special Powers: Can transform into a black & white German Sheppard (White collar, black body.) (I’ve completely forgotten what this is called…)
Personality: Jess is sarcastic and cold. Even once you get to know her she will not open up. Only two people have ever seen her true self, Draco, and in a moment of weakness, Prof. Black. Due to that, they know how screwed up her past is, and know why she doesn’t trust people. Prof. Black has tried to help her but she now makes it a point to avoid him when at all possible. She doesn’t trust Variska; just as she doesn’t trust everyone else, but feels something especially off about this girl.
Background: Jess has had one seriously screwed up life. Her parents divorced two years before she came to Hogwarts and that’s when she went cold to the world. Her father took to drinking and beating her as an outlet for his frustrations. She has had to fend for herself since then. She hasn’t told anyone besides Prof. Black, who demanded an answer when he saw the scar on her back. Even Draco doesn’t know.

Appearance: Tall, athletic, stikingly pretty. She has long, dark wavy hair with an almost purple tint to it, and eery green eyes.
Personality:Addelaide is in general easy to get along with, but only once you have gained her trust. She is quick to defend herself and is extremely competitive and stubborn. She refuses to lose. Once you have her trust, she is the most loyal friend you will have. She tends to show little emotion and is somewhat reserved, you never know what she is thinking or feeling. She also has quite a bit of an attitude and sarcastic nature, but it takes a lot to provoke her.
Background: She is one of Variska's closest and longest friends. She is extrememly loyal to her, as is to all her close Slytherin friends. However, she is secretly close with Harry as well which causes quite a bit of strain for her, because Slytherin's hate Harry. Her father passed away when she was farely young so she has been living with her mother and brothers since then. She is from Ireland. She is close with her family and has had a farely normal upbringing. The loss of her father is what made her reserved and lacking in emotion. If you do not feel, than you can not be hurt. "Emotion equals weakness" is how she thinks.
