Hathor; Egyptian Goddess of love, cheerfulness, music and beauty

There was once hope that Niky would find love in Hyde, which was lost only a year later. Talan had been the next fling, he was love at first sight, and they had fallen apart only a few years after. While finding a few other people in between, twenty-seven year old Niky had still not given up on her hope of love and a family, if even a little disappointed.

She worked with young children in a school on Diagon Alley. It admitted all children under eleven, and it was more like a daycare that was not alarmed with magic and taught a few basic wand spells and movements. She had always thought this kind of career would do good for her soul, and it did.

It was when six year old Raziya enrolled into her class that something had changed in Niky's favor. Her father, who barely looked that much older than her, had inspired her to believe in that spark of love again. But, he was a father! He had to be married, and perhaps Raziya wasn't his only child. What was she thinking daydreaming like that?

Set 10 years after Niky's graduation from Hogwarts, I wanted to see just how Ra and Niky had met and gone into the relationship they did. Although we don't need more players yet, we probably will later on, so check back every once in a while if you're interested

"DADDY!! WE"RE GOING TO BE LATE." Were the exact words that came from the six year olds mouth. Sitting in the living room, she sat, feet dangling from the couch, shoes on her feet and coat on. Little did she know that it was 5:40 in the morning and that the daycare didn't start for at least another couple hours. What could she care? She liked dragging Daddy out of bed before the crack of dawn.

Ra came back to earth at the sound his daughter's voice. Third time this week. He sighed and lifted himself out of bed. He slowly walked out into the living room and looked at the sight of his daughter on the couch. He was glad she was excited. Not so happy that he had been awaken before the sun. "I'm going to love the day you become a teenager and I'm going to be the one kicking you out of bed. You learn about the concept of sleeping in. It is rather amazing."

He picked his daughter up off the couch. "Come on. Let's get some breakfast first. I'm sure we'll still be there on time."

"I don't think so..." his daughter threw in innocently.

The pans sizzled in the kitchen with almost no supervision as across the hall Niky pinned up her hair in front of the mirror. It was a tight bun with a few loose curls to add that look that she wasn't at all strict. Someone had once told her she looked awfully mean with her hair in a tight and neat bun, making her laugh really. A black skirt fell to her knees and a sea blue top buttoned up to her neck, making her look casually classy.

Her mornings were always the same, running over her lesson plans for the day and thinking over if she was forgetting something or an important event of some kind. Her children's birthdays were important in her class, she'd always bring them a small present of some sort. She truly did love her job.

She was there early, about an hour early before class actually begun. Her door was open for students who had been dropped off too early or for parents who wanted a short meeting. She cleaned up yesterday messes and got ready for the new with an optimistic and bright outlook. Every day was a new day.

Three changes of clothing, a bowl of spilt cereal, a shower and digging of a child out of a tree later, Ra and his daughter set out of the house. He stifled a yawn, he was still tired from being awaken at the ungodly hour. He rubbed his eyes as he carried his daughter in his arms, who had ironically fallen asleep.

They had only moved to England a few days ago and Raziya was to start daycare today. Ra needed to find a job and couldn't afford to take his daughter everywhere with him. He put his daughter down when he felt her move and long behold she was awake again. "You're getting to heavy to carry kiddo." He said smiling and it broadened at the pout that appeared on her face. "Hey, it's true." He said shrugging.

An interesting conversation about a bug Raziya had found and pausing to look in a few stores later, they arrived at the school. Ra looked around, where in the world were they supposed to go?

"Are we lost?" Came the daughters tiny voice.

"Lost? Nooooo." He said looking down a hallway and deciding to go down it.

There. She had everything ready and set up for a new day. All she needed to do was take a few papers down to the main office and check if she had anything to give to her students to carry home. Fixing herself up, she took a few papers in her hands and left her so called classroom and begun a stroll down the hallway.

She heard a voice down the hall, of a young child, apparently, and as she looked up she found she was with her father. She nearly stopped and tripped. Dear Merlin he was good looking. Er--she hadn't just thought that.

"May I help you?" she smiled cheerfully. She didn't recognize the child or the father, but they looked somewhat lost. It was simply instinct to be polite and kind everywhere anyway, especially in her workplace.

Raliento was about ready to give and just take his child with him when he heard the cheerful voice of their to-be saviour. "Ah, actually yes you can. We're looking for a..."He dug the paper out of his pocket. "...A Miss Navalta." He held a tight hold on Raziya who was making desperate attempts to get free and begin exploring. "You wouldn't happen to know where I can find her do you?"

Adults talking. Same old same old. At least they weren't arguing. Raziya didn't like it when her parents had fought. It ended up somebody felt sad all night long.

Realizing that her attempt to escape was going no where, she simply stood still (for once) and smiled nicely at the lady.

Niky smiled down on the young girl softly and politely as her father dug around for a piece of paper. It was only when she heard her own name that she looked up at him again. She chuckled soflty. "Yes, I do actually," she replied as she set her papers into one hand so she could outstrech her other to him. "Niky Navalta, a pleasure to meet you," she introduced herself, holding back a laugh at the ironic encounter.

Bending down at the little girl's eye level again she smiled at her brightly. "Hello there, I'm Teacher Niky. Are you my new student?" she asked the young girl kindly.

"Oh thank you." He said breathing freely once again. "Where can I find..." He stopped as the woman had stuck out her hand. "Oh hey. You're Niky Navalta." He shook the woman's hand and watched her bend down to talk to Raziya.

Raziya immediately stepped behind her father, peering out from behind his legs. "Maybe." She said quickly to answer the lady's question.

"We just moved to the country." Ra explained. "She's not used to everything quite yet." Uh loser. Introduce yourself. "I'm Raliento...Raliento Nomaia. And this little one is Raziya." He said trying to prod Raziya away from the solidarity of his legs.

Niky smiled at him with a hint of a laugh as he aknowledged her. At this age, children either remained shy hidden behind their parents or spoke until someone begged them to shut up. Raziya was apparently shy. Although she remained at Raziya's eye level so she wouldn't be intimidated, she looked up at her father as he added they were new to Britain.

Raliento and Raziya Nomaia... somewhere exotic, surely. He had a certain tanned skin, dark hair and eyes. He was very appealing, really, and he had a sweet little girl. She just had to remember that. Not only did this man have a daughter, but his daughter would be in her class. She was being ridiculous thinking he was good looking. It was inappropiate as part of her job. She was there to teach his child, the one he had with his wife, and not flirt with a married man.

"Raziya Nomaia," she repeated thoughtfully. "Yep, you're my new student," she added with a friendly chuckle. "Where did you live before, sweetie?" she asked the girl kindly, hoping to get her out of hidding before she could speak to her father properly.

"Egypt." Raziya said quietly, slowly moving a little bit further from her father's legs. "They had big pyramids and and sphinxs...and dust. Lots of dust."

Ra smiled as his daughter was finally starting to warm up. He prodded her a bit more until she was in the teacher's view. "Hey Razi, why don't you run off into the class there and get everything ready? Make sure you're prepared for your first day." He smiled.

"OK." Raziya said excitedly. She took off into the class, ready to start her first day.

Niky smiled impressed as Raziya admitted she was from Egypt. Now that was definitely exotic. "Wow, that sounds amazing," she smiled at the child. She found it adorable that she had attempted to pronounce sphinx properly and almost made it. Niky herself had never traveled somewhere so far.

She smiled at the girl as she ethusiastically followed up her father's instructions and went into the class. Obidient.

Niky got back to her feet and brushed a few of her loose curls away from her eyes. She should really stop thinking he was handsome. "Anyway, welcome to London. I'm sure you've read up as to what we're about, and I'll keep an eye on her if she's new to the country as a whole," she promised. "All I really need to know is who will pick her up and at what time," she added with a kind smile.

He looked down most of time she had talked and had lifted his head to catch her smile. Hmmm...nice smile. He thought. He dwelled on the thought for a few seconds, unaware that she was waiting for an answer to her question.

"Uh..." He blinked mindlessly. "Oh! Time. Right. Uh...how's three o'clock? Give or take a few minutes. I'm the only one who can really pick her up. So I'd say you'd be seeing a lot more of me." He smiled as well.

Niky waited as he didn't seem to register her question, and was about to repeat it when he caught on. "That's fine. We got kids who stay later on too so there's no problem," she assured him. She always had at least one or two kids who stayed until six in the afternoon, which was when the school closed up.

"You'll always be the one picking her up? No other relatives or friends? It's just for safety reasons, we can't let these children leave with just anyone," she smiled. She had always grown accustomed to her children, she took care of them as if she were their mother for the day. Or at least a very caring aunt.

Ra nodded his head when she agreed to the pick-up time. "I assure you that I shall be the only one picking her up. Though, if you see a female about yea tall," he motioned with his hands, "brown eyes and blondish brownish hair, you've never met us before." He said adding in an innocent smile. Figuring he might as well explain, he pulled her farther away from the class. "My ex." He started off. "We just got separated and she's kind of the reason why we moved from Egypt. Woman doesn't pay child support, yet she tries to take Raziya every chance she can get." His twinkled worridly, "I'm sure we'll be fine here, but so far I trust you to take good care of her." He winked. "You're not a spy are you?" He asked stupidly. Though worry not, there was a reason for the question.

Niky smiled and nodded as he assured he'd be the only one picking her up. Well, he had mentioned he was new to the country, he probably had no relatives here. Well, it made things easier that he'd be the only one to pick her up then. As he began to describe a woman, which she guessed would be his wife, she blinked. Pretend like she didn't know them?

She followed as she was pulled farther away from her class, which she couldn't help peek into to make sure the young child was still in there. Habit, she supposed. "Oh," she blinked suprised for a moment. She had never been put in a situation like that before. That poor child. She'd keep a good eye on her, out of pure professionalism, since he could easily be the one lying as well. She didn't mean to doubt, but she couldn't be very naive or ignorant for the child's safety.

"I'm sorry," she said honestly. "But I'll take good care of her while she's here," she promised. She smirked a his question and giggled lightly. "I assure you I'm not. You can confide in me," she giggled.

Ra smiled and sighed relaxedly. "Thank you so much." He smirked at when she said that he could confide in her. He didn't mean to doubt, but she could easily be lying. Professional job or not. "I think that this can be saved for another day. I really must be on my way. Don't want to be late for my interview! Thanks again!" He said striding over to the door. "Bye Razi!" He said loudly before disappearing and the door shutting behind him.

Raziya ran out of the class. "Bye Daddy!..." She said loudly waving at her father's disappearing figure. She stood there for a second, not knowing what to do. She had never been without here father before. Tragedy in the making! What was she to do!? What was she to eat!? Who in the world would she talk to!? Oh wait...there's always this teacher person. Raziya peered up to look at the teacher's face.

Niky smiled pleasently at Ra. "It's no problem at all, and good luck," she added as he said he was going to an interview as well. She smiled as he said goobye to his daughter, who ran back out of her classroom to bid her father one last goodbye. A whole new country, and who knew how much the little girl had seen of her parent's fighting? The poor child, she looked so lost and shy as she simply peered up at her.

She smiled sweetly. "Come on sweetie, I'll show you around. Daddy dropped you off a little early, but you'll see as the day goes along more chilren will show up and you'll be able to play with more people," she promised as she took the girl's hand and invited her back into the classroom. First things first was to make the child comfortable, she had to meet the others and make some friends so she'd be happy here every day she came back. After all, by the looks of it, she'd stop by often.

"Do you like coloring? I was thinking of doing a bit of paiting today with the rest of the class," she encouraged.

Raziya followed behind Teacher Niky. She perked up at the sound of colouring. Colouring? She loved colouring. Especially when it involved walls. Though, Daddy didn't seem into the whole colouring the walls thing. She had constantly wondered why.

"I like to colour..." she acknowledged. Wait. Rest of the class? There were more people!? Heavens. Another tragdey. First she'd have to say hi to them and then she would actually have to remember their names!? Ahhh...what's a few messed up names here and there...I'm sure some kid named "Martha" won't mind getting called "Joey". And then there was the prospect of boys.

Ew. Ew. Ew. Ew.

Niky smiled as Raziya answered that she enjoyed coloring. "That's great," she smiled brightly down on her. "How about if I give you some paper and a few markers and you draw a picture for when daddy comes back?" she suggested, reaching one of the cabinets to do just that. "I'm sure he'd love it," she smiled.

She invited the girl to take a seat in those tiny desks and chairs she had gotten so used to and set a box of markers and a blank sheet of paper in front of her. To the corner there was a wide rug with bookshelves all around, and at the other corner there was a mini house to play dress up in. Of course, there was the blackboard to learn lessons and new spells, but that only needed to be some part of the morning.

"So how long have you been here in London, Raziya?" she asked the girl sweetly, somewhat looking to make the girl comfortable, somewhat curious for her own good.

Raziya mumbled a quiet "thank you" and she proceeded to open the box of markers and pulled out an orange marker. She tapped the desk with the marker, thinking of what she could possibly draw. She settled on drawing the Great Pyramids of Egypt. She pulled the top of the marker and set off on drawing the scene.

"Uhm..." She started thoughtfully, her eyes screwed up as she concentrated on making sure the pyramid looked like a triangle with more than one side. It came out as a rectangle and rhombus hybrid. Good enough.

"We've been here for maybe...a week? Yah...a week." She started to draw another pyramid. This one looked a little better. She dug in and pulled out a yellow and started to colour in her pretty pyramids. She smiled, her daddy would be proud. Another idea popped into her little head. She dove back into the marker box again and pulled out a black marker. She set to work on drawing a circle, then a line, and then another line going this way and another line going that way and then a couple more lines. She proceeded to draw the same thing again, except this time, a smaller version.

Within a couple minutes, she capped the marker and looked at her masterpiece. She smiled and blinked innocently and Teacher Niky.

Niky smiled as the girl began to draw. She too took a sheet of paper and the blue marker to draw something herself. She had always liked drawing. She always carried around a sketchpad during her Hogwarts years, which she had kept. They were like pictures to her.

"A week? So London is very new to you. Do you like it so far?" she asked the girl, drawing her profile in the blue marker. She looked over at the girl's drawing and fought back the urge to laugh. Her pyramids were adorable. Or... she thought they were pyramids. She had to learn how to pick out kid's drawings, some of them were rather messy most of the time.

She went back to her own drawing, until she noticed Raziya had finished hers. She smiled tenderly. "That's very pretty, Raziya. Is that you and daddy?" she asked, although she had a pretty good clue that it was.

"Hi Miss Niky!" called another young voice behind them. A girl of no more than seven had arrived, bright smile on her face.

"Hello Brianna. Come here, let me introduce you to our new friend," she invited the girl. She was sure Raziya would be surrounded by friends by the end of the day.

Raziya smiled at Teacher Niky and her compliment. "Yes...it's me and my daddy in Egypt. Those are the big pyramids there." She pointed to the rectangle/rhombus crossovers. She eyed the picture for a little while longer, it was slightly obvious that she missed her home and that she was feeling a little homesick.

"What did you draw?" She asked, but before Teacher Niky could ask, there was another kid in the room. Raziya turned to eye the girl, gave a small smile, but then turned back to the table. She pulled another piece of paper towards her and started to draw a new scene. Raziya hated meeting new people, she always went quiet.

Niky smiled at Raziya. It wasn't hard to see that the girl missed her home, maybe she missed her mother too, but she hadn't drawn her. "Those are very pretty pyramids, maybe later I can show you a trick to drawing them too," she winked.

"I drew you," she replied while Brianna left her things and came over. She showed her drawing to Raziya, indeed showing a blue imprint of Raziya drawing.

"Brianna this is our new classmate Raziya, and Raziya, this is Brianna. I'm sure you guys can become good friends in no time," she encouraged happily.
