24 Baldock Street
Edilson Mills is currently working for the Ministery Of Magic in the Department Of Mysteries. It's just been a month and things are getting rather interesting for him. He recently moved out of a shared flat with his best friend Trace Morgan without giving any reasons even though both of them had put in a lot of effort in it. This had eventually shaken their friendship a little but things are going to be smooth sooner or later.

Since the new division head has been appointed for The Locked Room, Edi's world has turned a bit topsy turvy, however, things were never so good for him until now and he is even enjoying late working hours. Work never felt so... alluring. Lets wait and see how the drama unfolds between him and his fiery Division Head.

Edi closed the door behind as he entered his apartment for the first time after it's renovation and gasp...

it
was
beautiful

Putting his hand on his lips, he shook his head in utter astonishment. This place was so crappy before and he didn't had the slightest of hope that it would turn out so..soo..romantic and elegant? "THANK YOU BRANDY! YOU'RE A LIFE SAVER!" he shouted in his spakin' new apartment. Brandy was his oldest sister and she was the one who helped him finding a place, renovating it and moving here. How was he ever going to repay?

Edi took a deep breath and flopped on the soft white couch, everything was perfect and simply beautiful but only if she was here, it would be 10 times better. He touched the fabric of the couch and cuddled with the cushions, it was still not sinking in that he was finally on his own COMPLETELY!

'The Kitchen' Edi thought and sprung to his feet, he.must.see.it
Beside the bedroom, Kitchen was the next important thing for him in a house. He made his way to the Kitchen, glancing around and seeing if something needs to be changed but everything was perfect, really. This proves that his sisters knew him very well and why wouldn't they? He loved them so much.

..Can't breath..
The kitchen was absolutely stunning just like he wanted. Edi rushed towards a tiny door and swung it open, Lo and Behold! The sight in front him was breath taking and he could see it right from his own balcony. Sighing, he went outside and sat on one of the balcony chairs, took off his shoes and placed his legs on the table, soaking the sun and just relaxing.

Gosh it was hot.

Eying up the long street ahead of her, Alyss almost fell over straight away. She had dressed herself like it was going to rain, black tight jeans, a long grey t-shirt, a cardigan and eventually her knee-length black raincoat. With the coat over her arm, she leaned against one of the house walls that covered her whole body in shade. She was... Sort of lost in a strange way. She had been told that Edil... Mr Mills, had moved house, and that, as his division head, she was to congratulate him on the move.

But she was crap with numbers, and couldn't find her way around a map. So standing there, counting the numbers, she sighed. God, she could be so blonde sometimes.

Eventually, her eyes fell onto the correct number. Pushing herself away from the wall that had very kindly supplied her with shade, Alyss made her way over to the door, and pushed the button of the bell. She really did and didn't want to do this all at the same time. Taking one of the headphones of her Ipod out of her ear, she closed her eyes and rehearsed what she was going to say. It was simply going to be a quick, "Congratulations, you can have some time off if you need it, is it to your liking" and all that small talk stuff that she wasn't very good at.

Opening her eyes again, she heard the door handle click as it turned open, and took a deep breath.

Humming lightly under his breath, Edi turned off the stove and walked over to the dining table, holding a platter of freshly cooked pancakes. "Umm..delicious." he thought as he sat down and sniffed them.

Just when he was about to sink his fork into the pancake, the bell rang. He was a bit shocked to be honest since he was not expecting anyone at the moment. Edi walked over to the door and peaked through the tiny eye hole, for a moment he thought it was a dream and it just couldn't be it. The last person on earth he would expect to visit him was standing just outside his door! Erm, what to do? He wasn't dressed properly and was still in his shorts. The bell rang again, "Just a second." He shouted and ran inside his room. He grabbed the old box containing his clothes and ripped it open. He slipped into the first pair of jeans he got hold of and pulled on a simple white shirt. Glancing at the mirror for a split second, Edi frowned..meh, he wasn't looking the best, his hair was still wet from shower and was looking a bit tired.

Shrugging, he ran out of the bedroom and opened the main door as fast as he could, 'Ouch' he muttered as the door almost crushed his toe. Keeping a straight face, Edi smiled, "Miss. Glass, sorry for the wait. Please..come in." He said and stepped aside, gesturing her to get in.

As he seemed to burst out of the door way, Alyss took an instinctive step back, just in case he was going too fast and continued his energetic spiral forward into her. Thankfully for her, he didn't. Taking a step forward again, she opened her mouth to say the words that she'd thought over all the way to the door... And nothing came.

Shutting her mouth, she dumbly walked past him into the gorgeous apartment, and stopped in the hallway. She'd told herself that she wasn't going to come in.. And now.. Taking a deep breath. She turned instantly to him, once again to say the words that she needed to, and instead, "This is amazing." Guh. She was never going to get around to actually saying what she meant to. But his apartment was beautiful. Turning from him again, she began to gaze around her at all of it around her. Her eyes fell on some boxes nearby, and instantly all the words came flooding out of her mouth at once, "Oh, sorry, maybe this isn't the best time, you're not really ready to receive visitors.. I'm sure I can come back some other.. Time." By the end of her garbled sentence, Alyss could feel herself getting quieter. Ugh. She actually hated this part of her. The part that seemed to clam up whenever she was around him.

"But this place really is lovely." She muttered, trying to act as if she hadn't just dumped a load of words over him. If she pretended it hadn't happened.. Maybe it hadn't. Wishful thinking.

As she walked in, he noticed how gorgeous she was looking, well that wasn't new for him since she looked stunning every day, every hour and every minute, no doubt there. Sighing Edi closed the door behind and walked right next to her. Eeeep, his legs felt like jelly. Closing his eyes for a few seconds, Edi tried to get out of the pleasant shock of having her in his apartment. What was he going to say? What was he going to do? Should he cook something? Duh! The Pancakes, hope she likes them.

He was still racking his head on what to say when she spoke, phew.. Thank God, "Thank you, I am honored to have you here." He tried to sound as clam as possible but inside he was feeling like a girl, all excited & thrilled. With arm folded across his chest, Edi watched her quietly as she looked around the apartment, his eyes traced hers, why was she looking at the boxes? They weren't that interesting plus they were empty since he finished unpacking last night except his clothing which were still in boxes. Alyss started to babble something about best time, visitors...come back LATER. Heck no! She wasn't going because of some silly boxes.. ahh why didn't he throw them last night, stupid lazy bum. "NO! The time is perfect, I have just made a few pancakes and it would be lovely if you can join me." He sort of shouted the 'no' part in exaggeration and gulped. He hastily wiped off the sweat from his forehead and smiled, "You're looking lovely..Alyss..I mean Miss. Glass" He muttered it to himself, hoping that she didn't catch it.

As he mentioned pancakes, Alyss almost leaped out of the door instantly. If anything it wasn't the mention of the food that scared her, it was the fact that he said he'd cooked them. Now, the smell that was coming to her nose was divine, but the last time that she'd seen pancakes they'd been looking like something that had just emerged off of Mars. Glancing quickly up at Edilson, she allowed him a quick smile. "I guess I could stay..." Her pride was begging her to convince him that she really had a dog to walk and there was a family crisis going on, but for once, she wanted to feel like a normal human being and sit down without having to keep an eye out for odd stuff. Also, she did like the way he looked at her... Ignoring the fact that he'd muttered something, she let the smile slip from her face for a moment and looked down at the floor, feeling... Happy to be there.

Standing for a few awkward moments, she lifted up the arm that she had her coat flung over, and said, "Is it possible for me to put this down somewhere..? I didn't think it was going to be quite so hot." Ugh. She really was fighting with everything inside of her. Her pride really was requiring her to tell him that she needed to go, but the rest of her wanted to have a normal conversation for a change...

This came as a bit of a shock that she decided to stay and try his pancakes, well who has ever said no to his delectable pancakes eh? Edi smiled slightly at her question, "The coat stand is in the bedroom, I can hang it there but if you'll like to do it yourself, the bedroom is right there." He said, leaning his thumbs to the left. Goodness gracious! It really was hot. Smiling at her once again, Edi walked over the nearest windows and pushed them open, "Much Better." he thought as a cool breeze came over his face and the sun lit up his green eyes.

With hands in pocket, Edi went back to where Alyss was, "Excuse me, I'll be right back." He said and dashed in the direction of the kitchen. Making sure that he was out of sight, Edi beamed and did a silly victory dance, woohoo! He was still not able to believe what was happening, looks like the house is really lucky for him. Pulling out two glasses and platter from the upper cabinet, Edi peered from the Kitchen, "Hey Alyss, what would you like firewhiskey, butterbeer or just an orange juice?" He called out and crooked a smile

Turning to the direction that his thumb was pointing in, Alyss almost pushed the coat into his hands and told him to do it himself. She felt a little.. Nervy of going into his room, which was incredibly silly. It wasn't as if there was any reason for that. Mentally scolding herself, she gave him a smile and wandered into his bedroom. She took a sharp intake of breath the moment she was in. The hallway had been gorgeous in itself, but the bedroom was just the same. Big, airy.. And.. Wow.. Her coat still on her arm, she went to the window and looked out. That was just totally unfair. He had an amazing apartment, and now she saw that he had a fantastic view. Smiling broadly, she turned from it, hung her coat up, and left the bedroom.

Walking from the room that she'd just vacated through what looked more like a show home than the living place of a single guy, she almost burst out laughing when Edilson looked around from the kitchen door. Before answering his question, she wandered into the room he was in and eventually replied to him, once, of course, she'd got over the fact that the kitchen was as beautiful as the rest of the house, "Oh.." God, she felt a little awkward about having him get all this stuff for her, she was so used to doing things independently it came as a little bit of a shock to her. "I'll just have the orange juice, thanks." She told him with a bright smile. The place was really having an odd effect on her. Especially as she looked at him...

No.. Bad thoughts...

No.. Bad thoughts...
Still in the kitchen waiting for her reply, he smiled faintly. Edi had immediately sensed the awkwardness she felt towards the idea for her going to his bedroom. Who wouldn't be a little uneasy? They barely knew each other and his first impression wasn't a hit either. How pathetic of him to get a couple on the verge of a break up but that wasn't his fault! The woman got friendly first plus she looked annoyed by her over emotional lover. But the real question was what would Alyss think of him if she had met him an year ago? He didn't want to think about it now and spoil it for himself since he tends to always go into depression mode by just thinking about it -le sigh-

Snapping out of his thoughts, Edi smiled at Alyss who was now standing inside the kitchen, when did she come in? Never mind, he was kind of a deep thinker.
"Orange juice for the both us then." He said and strode towards the fridge & grabbed a carton of chilled Orange Juice. Pouring the juice in the glasses, Edi glanced at her, she looked quite thrilled by his apartment but he was too a few hours ago, jumping around and singing at the top of his lungs which might have provoked the neighbors but thankfully it didn't, he wasn't that bad, was he? Placing the glasses and platter on a nice tray, he decided to pick the bottle of maple syrup in case she likes it. He smiled to himself yet again, things were so different, an year ago he wouldn't lift a finger and here he was doing almost everything on his own plus for others too. Merlin! He has finally grown up. "The dining table or the balcony?" He asked, abruptly breaking the silence as he stood there holding the tray.

Once again, she had that feeling that she was doing the wrong thing being alone with him in his apartment. It wasn't that she felt awkward anymore, it was just that it wasn't a her thing to do. Convincing herself that she was just doing the right thing as his boss, Alyss eventually looked up from his feet to his face, "Umm, dining room." She'd already removed her coat, and it was terribly hot outside so she didn't exactly want to have to take off another layer. That would just make her feel.. Vulnerable. In her own little way. Although, now she was standing in his kitchen, totally master of her own feelings and not having them amplified by the Locked Room, Alyss couldn't help but see the man opposite her as.. Dare she even think it? Attractive.

Noooooooo! Seriously bad thoughts. Biting down on her bottom lip as if she'd actually said her thoughts out loud, Alyss wandered from the kitchen to the dining area in silence, desperately attempting to suppress the very female thoughts that were roaming around her head... Well, she was female, but she didn't want to have these daft things in her mind. But the slightly bigger problem was that she had a huge urge to just sit and smile at the guy who she'd not known for that long. She didn't want to be cold against him, but because of that feeling, she could sense that she was going to become just a little bit harsh eventually. Which she so didn't want. "So, how come you live in such a nice place?" She asked as soon as they were sat down. It had come out a little accusatory, but hopefully he caught on that she wasn't trying to bite his head off..

Not now at least.

"Very well." He smiled, how silly of him to ask it in the first place when she had said it was hot a moment ago. He wasn't like this before, nervy and a bit silly in front of women he thought were gorgeous, never. Things were so different at Hogwarts, he used to date 4 different girls from each house at the same time and even though they knew how much of a jerk he was, they wouldn't dump him. Is he the same guy who partied every night like it was the end of the world? Drunk, crazy, chick magnet and an obnoxious guitarist of a local bar band. 'Snap out of it dude, you've changed for good and you're sober' Edi thought and carried the tray to the dining table, God he is thinking too much.

Placing it gently on the table, he dragged a chair out for Alyss. She was different in a good way, different than the other women he was generally around. All of them easily gave in to a little buttering, heck he was just toying with their feelings but the circumstance are different now, he wouldn't dream hurting Alyss or anyone's feelings any more after--- after what happened to.... Andrea. He picked up the platter and the glass from the tray and placed it front of Alyss annnnd he was struggling again, should I serve or not? If I did would she be mad? Since she was his boss in the first place, Edi settled on serving the pancakes himself. He grabbed the serving spoon and placed a beautiful stack of two pancakes on her platter, "You don't have eat it at all if it tastes like crap, I haven't cooked much in a while." Edi chuckled and sat on the chair, serving himself a stack of two pancakes, he was so eager to dig his fork in it. Poor pancake babies, had been waiting to be eaten for a while. He opened his mouth to say something but quickly shut it back when she spoke first. Edi smiled at her question hmm that sounded a little salty, typical Alyss, "I had to pay a lot for it but my sister made it worth the money, she did most of the work. By the way Alyss, honestly I wasn't expecting you at all but it was a pleasant surprise. Thanks." Edi smiled sheepishly, twirling the fork as he tried his best not to look at her.

Her mouth almost dropping open again as placed the pancakes on her plate. She'd never seen anything that looked like it had been cooked this well in.. What, six years? Actually, it had to be more than that. It was before she was at Hogwarts... Sooo... No. Way. Eleven years. That made her feel old. Lifting her head up from gazing at the food that was in front of her, she smiled lightly at him. "Are you kidding me? These look great." Probably one of the biggest compliments that she'd handed out in all of her life. She got a sudden unpleasant shock as she realised that. Looking across at the seemingly happy man opposite her, she could feel a frown coming on her face. Since she was small she'd been taught never to trust anyone because they could leave you and betray your feelings at any moment. Now she was wondering if she'd been deluded into believing that the world was an evil place to be.

As he replied however, Alyss could feel a dark red creeping up her neck and onto her face. He really meant it. "Uhum.. You're welcome. It's mainly.." About to run into the details of why she was actually there, Alyss stopped herself. She liked being around him in the same way that people liked sitting in warmth. He made her feel.. Good, not too stressed out or anything, occasionally he made her feel awkward about being around him, and he was the first person ever to make her blush. Which was an achievement in itself. "It's nice to be here." She admitted in a stronger voice, pulling herself to a straighter sitting position. Sinking her fork into one of the pancakes in front of her, and taking a bite, Alyss almost choked. "You..? Made these yourself?" Without waiting for his answer she continued, "They're amazing!" Looking back up, she grinned, and, for the first time around him, gave a little laugh.

He took a small bite out of the pancake and frowned, hmm it's too sweet not my best. Edilson Mills can never be satisfied by anything he cooks, he has to be critical towards his cooking since his lifetime dream is to open a restaurant which seemed a bit blur at the moment. He had spent a lot of his savings for this apartment and couldn't imagine himself owning a restaurant in the near future. At least, Alyss likes them which was the biggest accomplishment in regards to his cooking and made him feel a bit uplifted.

Edi smiled as she complimented, "I did make them, hard to believe isn't it? But I am quite flattered." He blurted, letting out a light chuckle. At the same time he noticed that she - laughed. He blinked for a few seconds, did she just laugh because he had never seen her do anything of that sort before. This was precious.

Alyss was the only one woman yet who he genuinely respected, yes respect which was a major issue for Mr. Mills when it comes to the opposite sex. Respect, which he lost for himself on that disastrous October night. For a slight second, he felt himself not worthy for her, not worthy to have such a beautiful and honest person around. Maybe he was being a bit judgmental and hard on himself but this was his punishment, the guilt he had to live forever with. Swallowing the lump which emerged in his throat, Edi smiled helplessly, "So Alyss, do you live around here? It's quite hard to find way around this place, the streets are confusing." He said, as he took a sip of the orange juice. And then it struck him, there wasn't a huge age difference between them so why did he never saw her at Hogwarts? Weird, since he was quite famous and people had to notice him despite how much they tried to ignore him and his bad attitude. "Alyss, you attended Hogwarts?" He narrowed his eyes and pressed his lips, trying to rack his brain. Seeing how stunning she is, how come he never noticed her? He must be blind or something.

Taking another savoring bite out of the food in front of her, Alyss couldn't help but wonder as to what he was thinking. Although he was generally so helpful to her, she couldn't help but feel that there was more to it than just helpfulness. But she'd never been in a situation where someone was happy to assist her. Which was the downside of coming from such a protective family, sure it meant that you didn't take situations as lightly as everyone else around you, but it did mean that "childhood" was a bit missed out in the grand scheme of things. As he asked her where she lived, Alyss couldn't help but smile faintly, "No, I live quite far away from here, it took me forever to find your house" As soon as the words were out of her mouth, she was almost begging to of not said them. From that sentence it sounded like she was rubbish with directions and couldn't find her way around streets. Also to her it sounded even more ridiculous, especially owing to the fact that she lived with a man who worked in Magical Transportation. She could of simply Apparated to a secluded area that was close by and walked the short distance to his front door.

But her light mood was suddenly diminished as he asked her about Hogwarts. She knew that she had seen him somewhere before.. "Yes.. We met briefly quite a few times.. I used to take letters from my sister, Sierra to you." She'd been quite different then though, still short as anything, "I had strange colour hair when I was younger" She added with a smile, "Once it was pink.. I don't know what I was thinking." Although she had a smile on her lips, inside she was using all her willpower not to be out of his door in an instant. Sierra, her older sister, had been totally in love with him, and would talk about him all the time that they were together, thankfully for herself and Jared, that wasn't much. "She was in the same house as you," Alyss said, feeling herself get slightly bitter, "Same year too, always used to talk about her weird, miserable younger brother and sister who were Slytherins." Okay, so she had left the subject of herself, but she didn't care. How can I trust him now? Were the pancakes just a stepping stone so that he could get to know her better like he did with all those other girls?

God, she'd been so stupid. Her face had gone stony again, just like it was when she first met him...

God, she'd been so stupid. Her face had gone stony again, just like it was when she first met him...
While waiting for her answer, Edi wondered if he did the right thing by dragging Hogwarts in between. What if she knew about his Hogwarts days? Of course things are different now but he couldn't make anyone forget what he used to be. "I am sorry that you had a hard time, you could've asked me for directions." He bit his tongue, that wasn't the best to thing to say seeing how Alyss is, she doesn't accept help so easily, talking from experience here.

And it finally happened what he was dreading, SHE KNEW HIM! Quick! Hide somewhere Edi, go drown yourself. Closing his eyes, he tried to wash over the feeling of guilt but it didn't work. He opened his mouth to say but snapped it shut. She was Sierra Glass's sister? That little pink haired girl, the one his gang used to tease about her petiteness and he would just stand there and snicker? Murder me! Sierra and Edi were quite a thing and she must know how he ditched her sister for that red head Ravenclaw, Sierra was quite devastated. Oh God! His world came crumbling down when she said something about those--those letters, not the letters please...they were so..lets hope she didn't read them. This was not good, this was...his DOOM. Edi quietly grabbed his orange juice and gulped it down in a swig, his breathing was getting faster and faster by ever second. How was he going to defend himself now? How can he make her believe that he is not the same person anymore.

The softness which was on here face before their stroll down the memory lane had vanished and the look on her face was speaking louder than words, She HATES him! God, she'll never trust him anymore, "Oh, I see. Look---Alyss, I am absolutely ---- sorry about --- what I did to your sister and --- I am really sorry about --- the teasing too. I--- was a jerk, I am genuinely sorry." He stammered throughout the sentence. Being on the verge of bursting in tears was really painful to be honest and he couldn't sob in front of her but he need to let it out, he felt so...filthy.

"No, it's fine. I mean, I got here eventually, didn't I?" More of a rhetorical question than anything else, Alyss placed her fork down lightly, not wanting to damage his nice plates. She still couldn't get over the shock that she had actually known this man before he became one. But who was she to judge that he'd grown up yet. From what she could remember, he'd been someone that all of her friends had liked and she'd detested, someone who had made her blood boil just from looking at him, someone who she'd taken her anger out about him on her brother, Jared, and someone who had made her sister cry. Which to make a Glass cry was a pretty amazing thing. Even in Sierra's case.

Watching as he seemed to get more and more stressed, Alyss removed her hands from the table and held them tightly together on her lap. If she'd been in a situation with him, say... Three years ago, his perfect face would of been bruised up beyond any recognition, but she'd softened out, luckily for him. "Yes, you were a jerk." She replied, not being able to look him in the eyes, the food he'd cooked for her now tasted sour in her mouth and she could feel her hands getting tighter against each other under the table. "And I hated you." Once, one of Jared friends had told her that she had a really good talent of punching in at people's weak spots, now, she wanted to hurt the man opposite as much as she could, which was incredibly petty, especially seeing as he never did anything directly to her, but because of having his name mentioned around her for over two months by Sierra, it wasn't something she was going to let go of lightly.

Glancing up, she held his eyes darkly, "I didn't ever love Si in the way that most girls love their sisters, but I still feel like I shouldn't talk to you anymore, just as a bit of sibling comradeship." She'd seen the way he'd looked at her, it wasn't as if she was stupid, but she couldn't let it go on, not unless he convinced her otherwise, "I'm so, so sorry, but I think I have to go." She continued, not dropping her eyes for a brief moment. But although she said that, she didn't stand up or leave the table. A large part of her was desperately wanting him to be different to how he was, because, for just a short time, she felt like he was a distraction for her, so that she didn't have to face the world on her own.

Once again, wishful thinking.

Once again, wishful thinking.
He could see the anger and hatred building up in her eyes and her famous dark look was back. He can't possibly stop her from hating him and he actually deserved it seeing what he did to her sister and numerous girls he had dated in the past 6 years or so. If he had the slightest of idea in Hogwarts about how things were going to end for him, he wouldn't dare hurt anyone's feeling.

His heart was galloping in his chest while he was absentmindedly pressing his thumb on the sharp end of the fork, they were going to sink in his flesh any minute, "I'll never be able to estimate how you might be feeling right now but please I am sorry ...... don't go, give me chance." He said, looking into her eyes for the first time since the whole confrontation. Sorry was something he wouldn't dare say in his wildest dreams at Hogwarts but looking at the new and changed Edilson, this five lettered word always stayed on the tip of his tongue. "Look..wait please, I've change..changed a lot since the last time we met before I joined the ministry. I am not that...thing anymore. Believe it or not, I've had my share of punishments and sufferings." He tried to hold back the tears. In the few months he had spent with Trace, Edi never got the chance to think about Andrea, she suffered his fate. He will never ever forgive himself.

"What can I do to make you trust me?" He said in a vulnerable tone. God he is so sensitive now and he used to be so thick skinned, no one could ever ruin his day. But why did he want her trust? He wasn't sure about this himself, they were not in the locked room so why was he feeling like this towards her, it was more than just...attraction....it can't be that..?

"A chance for what?" She snarled, feeling her back get up like it used to all those years ago. She hadn't properly got angry with anyone in so long it felt almost alien to her, but she also felt like it was wrong to be getting quite this angry with someone who her sister had played over. It wasn't like Sierra had been devastated, she'd wept solidly for about three days, then some Hufflepuff guy had caught her eye and she'd bounced off to him because he was the new "love of her life" God. The girl really made her sick some days. But at least she believed herself to be in love with these guys, with him.. Ugh. Everyone knew he didn't overly like the girls he was with, he just liked girls in general.

Was... Was she over-reacting?! Feeling her expression soften for a few moments, Alyss let go of her hands underneath the table and lifted one up and pried his fork away from his fingers. There was an impulse inside of her that didn't want him to be hurt. Which was incredibly weird seeing as she wanted to be the one to hurt him not too long ago. Placing his fork down beside the plates, she kept her hand there for a few moments, and closed her eyes. "Why do you need me to trust you?" She asked in a much calmer voice, her eyes still closed and her hand still over his side of the table. She still could hear the old voice inside of her, the voice that sounded much too much like her mother for her own liking, telling her to fire the man and get out of the flat sharpish, but how old was that voice now? Eons. Seriously, it was the voice that got her through Hogwarts, the voice that made her a Slytherin prefect, the voice that told her to lash out if something didn't go the way she wanted it to. It was a voice she hated.

Opening her dark brown eyes slowly, she watched his face. It seemed to of crumpled since she last properly spoke to him when they were at work together. Oh Merlin. Did I do that to him? She wondered. Her breathing stopped for a moment as a heavy lump formed in her throat. She could be so horrible and mean when she wanted to be.. "God, I'm sorry." She muttered to him without meaning to. But even though her pride was being crushed by the words, it was what she needed to say to him, really.

It sometimes felt as if he was taking Hogwarts a little too seriously. This was way too childish for him since he was a grown man now. He was no more that young, stupid, good-looking Slytherin boy who had hurt the feelings of plenty of girls at some point or another. Edi glanced up slowly as she separated the fork from his thumb. Not able to meet her eyes, he covered his face with his hands and sighed. Why did she do it? She should have just left the fork there...pain sometimes help him to think straight.

He sometimes never understood how the sweet and shy Edilson turned into an obnoxious mean jerk. Maybe it was the gang he used to hang out at school with. Ahh, those boys were rich and spoiled, they used his innocence for their own good fun and he was so naive and easily manipulated into doing anything for them. However, it wasn't for long. And in no time he was famous in school for his bad attitude and dirty ways. Sadly for him, this continued even after Hogwarts. And again he found himself trapped among the wrong and happening crowd. Late night parties, lots of booze, girls, eyeliner, guitar, concerts and ---, he was a mess.

But then she came, like a breath of fresh air, she changed him but he was and will never be able to understand when or how she revived the old sweet Edilson which was buried somewhere deep within him. God why did she have to go? Later came along Alyss and he smiled again. He could clearly see Andrea's reflection in her... stubborn, honest and strong. And all this time the things he had been doing around her ... for her were not because of the locked room..they were his true feelings, truest to the core of his heart...yes he liked Alyss a lot more than just a Division Head.

After a long and uncomfortable pause, he found his voice back, "I don't know Alyss..and don't be sorry. You were just being honest at least you're not a coward like me. You're bigger than me." Swallowing the 50th or so newly emerged lump in his throat, Edi looked at her. She looked so peaceful, warm, beautiful.... he can go on and on about her. Shrugging of the sudden rush of weird feelings towards her, Edi got up from the table and walked over to the window, "Oh Andrea....I'm gonna make you proud. I'll never show my face to her again after today." Edi mumbled, he had already hurt Alyss's feelings once and maybe if he stayed around her, he might hurt her again. It was better to just back off even though he knew he was helplessly in love with her. Love at first sight does exist.

Ugh. He was doing something to her heart that she'd never experienced before. It was like it had moved from it's original place in the left of her chest to somewhere in her throat. No-one had ever done that for/to her. Even the guy who had persisted on her for three whole weeks, almost stalking her. He hadn't even made her afraid of loosing him. But now.. It was something totally new. And she liked it whilst hating it at the same time. As he stood up, she made an instantaneous reach for him, to hold him in her grasp, but he was too far from her. Continuing to follow him with her eyes, she bit her bottom lip in agitation.

There was something about his teasing smile that had caught her, that made her almost lost without it. It was as though she was begging for him to smile. Why? Why was it so important that she needed him to be happy? Slipping her feet out of the heels that she'd put on that morning, Alyss slid herself off of the chair and moved silently behind him. She'd always been encouraged to be a harsh child, being the youngest she was taught to look on the world cruelly or it would swallow her up. Reaching out, she cupped his hand in both of her small ones and said softly, "I think.. I'm incredibly selfish, but I know I've just been awful to you, dragging both of us through things that would of been best unsaid, but please.. Just smile for me, say that you're alright, and then I can go." I could of left it all and just kept Sierra out of it... She didn't want to go at all, but she felt like it would be best for the both of them... Although she just wanted to go home and sit in a cold bath for a few hours.

And another thing that was tethering her to the apartment: The warmth of his hand inside hers. When they'd shaken hands the two times they introduced themselves, she'd marvelled at how large his were in comparative to hers, but now she could really see it. Drawing herself closer, she could feel the urge to wrap her body around his and... Cry? No.. Not cry, she'd never ever cry in front of someone else... No matter how much or how little they'd said or done to her. Swallowing quietly, she looked up from his hand to his face, her eyes softened, and her hair falling down into her face. Usually, she'd raise a hand to push it away, but she didn't want to let go... Not now.

This was quickly becoming the most confusing moment in Edi’s life. He was so perplexed that his brain would snap any minute. The complexity of this situation was beyond his understanding but one thing was for sure, she was as befuddled as him. Edi can easily imagine Alyss beating the crap out of him at any time of the day but she being sympathetic and then comforting him was just absurd even though it felt out of the world.

He almost jumped when she crept behind him and their hands touched for the first time other than the two times they shook hands. Edi gulped, a weird tingling sensation was running through out his body, his head was spinning round and he was speechless yet again. Turning around to see her face which was brightly lit by the sunlight, Edi clasped his fingers with her and locked them. Her hands were so tiny yet they could to wonders with a slight touch. He pulled her a little closer & looked her in the eye, "Shhsh, you're not selfish...Alyss you're the most amazing person I've ever met and I am honestly blessed to be around you. You have no idea how immensely I respect you..." His tones were soft and easing. His eyes fell on her rosy lips and he leaned a little towards her but soon got back to his sense. He would never take advantage of a weak situation like this, never. Instead, he separated their hands and gently tugged the strand of her beautiful brown hair behind her ear. His fingers lingered there for a moment but he forced them back and smiled frailly at her.

Clearing his throat, Edi slipped his hands in pockets and made his way to the table. "I think I've lost my appetite, what about you?" He said glancing over his shoulder as he cleared the table.

As his fingers interlocked with hers, Alyss' heart took off. It was totally unreal, she wanted to hurt herself so that she actually knew that she was still alive. Biting down on her bottom lip, she couldn't bear to take her eyes away from his just in case he vanished from in front of her. As he spoke however, she felt herself being drawn slowly out of her daze. He.. Respected her? Not to long back she would of laughed at the very suggestion of Edilson Mills respecting anyone of her gender, but now.. Now she wanted to believe his words, so did. When he released their hands, she almost put on another act of stubborn-ness and kept a hold on them, but reluctantly, she let them slip away. Why was she so concerned to stay close to him? It wasn't like she'd ever needed another human being before in her life, she even got through PMS without the help of a friend or family member, so why did she need him?

Not watching as he brushed past her and to the table, she leaned against the window frame and took a deep breath of the fresh air that was making its way into the room. Turning her head when he spoke again, eager to be facing him once more, she smiled slowly, "Yeah.. Same." Funny. Mmh. Or something like that. Taking another lungful of the cool air, she turned all the way back to him and came up alongside him. "Do you.. Need help clearing?" She asked, feeling the strength return to her voice.

Although she felt so different (in a good way) around him, she still despised the part of her that fell to pieces whenever she was in close proximity to him, maybe... "Why..." Shutting her mouth almost as soon as she'd opened it, Alyss realised just a tiny bit too late how naive it would sound to ask him why she felt like this around him. It'd probably just encourage him as well. "Sorry, nevermind." She added, dipping her head down. ARGH! Where was reason when she needed it?

Now that she didn't want to eat either, Edi hastily slipped the platters and glasses on the tray. He turned around with the tray in hand as she came next to him, "Aaaa....." He was again wrapped in the cascade of brown hair surrounding her gleaming face, sigh. "I don't like the idea of either of us cleaning these dirty dishes, what is magic for?" Putting the tray back on the table, Edi smiled as he took out his wand from the back pocket of his jeans and chanted 'Wingardium Leviosa' The tray was now floating in mid air, he directed it towards the kitchen, chucked the pancakes in the garbage can and finally released the tray in the sink.

Smiling at her again, he took a few steps towards the kitchen and cast the spell 'Scourgify' on the dishes. Once satisfied by his wand work, Edi returned and pocketed his wand, "All cleared." He said nodding his head and folded his arms across his chest, "Umm-- Do you still want to have lunch tomorrow at the leaky?" Furrowing his eyebrows, he scratched his forehead as he tried to give a smile but failed. He really wanted that lunch meeting to take place but seeing the circumstances now, it was quite clear that it might get canceled.

Ah, why hadn't she thought of that? In this situation, she was actually the superior wizard/witch, who cared about age she'd come from a pure-blooded... Ahh.. There she went again. Rambling on in her head about another one of her prejudices. But her smile fell just a tiny bit. He obviously didn't want her hanging around in his house after their little encounter, after all, who wanted to have someone about who might turn on you at any given moment? Watching as he smoothly seemed to clean up the dishes, she could feel herself calming and her senses were beginning to push through the haze that had formed itself in her mind.

Glancing across and out the window as Edilson finished up the cleaning, she glanced up quickly as he spoke again. Do you still want to meet? "Well.." Okay, so this was a bit mean, she was back to her "proper" self and could feel herself growing a tiny bit playful again, "I guess we could.. It all depends if you still want to see me..?" Slowly smiling, she tipped her head sideways and looked out the window again. Why was she doing this? She really had a dog to walk that would probably be crossing it's legs by now for want of relief.
