Default While the Chosen One Was Away - Sa16+
Matt Lanter/The Dark Side/Anakin Skywalker/ Underland/Hookah Smoking Caterpillar

So here's another fanfic I've been debating about for awhile. It will be my third. My other two are A Little Golden Rose and My Life Flipped. The title pretty much gives everything away for this story. (It takes place while Harry, Hermione, and Ron are hunting for the horcruxes ) As usual J.K.Rowling owns all things that have to do with the lovely world of HP. So, I think that's it. I hope you enjoy!

Ginny passed golden coins around the small group of kids. They all sat in a tight circle in the Room of Requirement, except for Luna Lovegood, Neville Longbottom, and Ginny Weasley, who were standing in front of the other Hogwarts students.
“This is how we’ll stay in contact.” She gestured to a coin being flipped over in a Hufflepuff’s hand. “We’ll have meetings every two weeks. They need to fluctuate on days, or we’ll easily be found out.” The sixth year Gryffindor flipped a mane of red hair behind her shoulders. “Neville, is there anything else?”
Neville Longbottom turned to the group of students.
“Yeah… If you know anyone who’s willing to join the DA, bring them. We could use all the help we could get.” he said. “Just no Slytherins.” he added hastily.
Some of the kids smiled in response, and Neville seemed to grow an inch in height. He stood up straighter, an air of command surrounding him.
“Luna?” said Ginny.
“I think we’ve covered everything.” she replied, dreamily gazing at the back wall.
There was a silence for a few minutes, the only sound of Luna humming quietly to herself.
“Then, that’s it.” Neville conceded, clapping his hands together.
Mutters and whispers broke out and some of the students began to stand up, stretching from the hour long session of sitting on plump, tasseled cushions. Some kids looked around at the room that would be their new secret meeting place; From the bookshelves filled with spell books to the tapestries that hung in three of the House colors. The double doors in the back of the room started to appear as a few Gryffindors approached it.
“Oh, but first: Don’t let any of the teacher’s know about this. Especially the Carrows. And be careful about leaving and entering. We don’t want to be too obvious.” Ginny said before anyone left. She glanced at a pair Ravenclaws who were talking excitedly near her, too oblivious to even hear what she said.

One of those Ravenclaws was a fifteen year old girl named Abel Myers. The fifth year was absently flipping the golden galleon in her hand while she was listening to her friend talk. Her pin-straight, silvery blonde hair fell past her shoulders, making her pale skin look even paler. She had startlingly dark blue eyes and a splash of freckles across her cheeks. She smiled and giggled, instantly covering her mouth with her hand.
“Wait, Jasmine, she seriously said that?”
Abel’s friend, Jasmine Harte, nodded her head vigorously, her black rimmed, rectangular glasses sliding precariously down her nose.
“Yeah, Charlotte told me specifically that Keira Mannings has a huge crush on your brother.”
Abel looked for Keira, a pretty redheaded girl who was one of the few who had immediately headed for the doors when the meeting was over. Then she looked back at her seventeen year old brother, Aaron. Aaron was talking animately with his hands to Rayner and Mason, his two best friends. Like Abel, he had silvery blonde hair and dark blue eyes. He was a few inches taller than the other two boys.
“Does he know?” asked Abel, still staring at him.
“Beats me. He’s your brother.” Jasmine twisted her already curly brown hair around her pointer finger. She gazed absently at a group of passing Hufflepuffs.
“Hey, isn’t that Carter?”
“What?” Abel spun around, looking in almost every direction except for where he actually was.
“By the door. He’s talking to Neville. I didn’t know he was joining the DA.”
Abel located the two Gryffindor boys. Neville and Carter were indeed standing by the door. They were talking, heads close together. Carter looked up, almost as if he had felt someone watching him. He glanced at the students walking by him, his green eyes finally falling on Abel and Jasmine.
Abel turned away, a flush of pink coming to her cheeks.
“Have you talked to him lately?” Jasmine pried.
“Not since that lab we had together in Herbology.” answered Abel.
“Go talk to him.” she suggested. She pushed a strand of brown hair behind her ear.
“He’s busy.” Abel muttered. She risked a look at the boy; he was back to talking with Neville, his head bent down as he listened.
“What do you think they’re talking about?”
“Quidditch.” the girl said simply.
Jasmine’s mouth turned into a frown. “I don’t think so.” she said slowly.
Ginny and Luna had joined in the conversation. They all moved away from the crowd and continued to talk in whispers in a corner.
“It could just be stuff about the DA-” Abel was cut off as her brother and his friends come closer.
Aaron wrapped his arm around his sister’s shoulder.
“I can’t wait to see what we come up with to mess with the Carrows.” said Aaron, a goofy grin plastered across his face.
“We aren’t here to mess with them. We’re here to give support to the other students. To give them hope.” said Mason in an all-knowing tone. He ran his hand through his cropped brown hair.
“Uh, not really. I’d rather mess with them.” Said Aaron. Abel elbowed him in the ribs, making him yelp and leap away from her.
Mason and Rayner broke out laughing. Aaron smirked and lunged at his little sister, who nimbly dodged away.
“Dude, you’re just making yourself look stupid.” Said Rayner.
“He does that all the time.” quipped Abel with a smile.
“No I don’t!” defended Aaron. He stood up straighter and adjusted his blue and black robes.
Mason chuckled before finally pulling him away from the girls. Rayner followed close behind.
Jasmine rolled her light blue eyes. “Your brother is so weird.” she said.
“I have to live with him.” said Abel.
Jasmine laughed and threw her arm over her friend’s shoulder. “Come on, we’re going to be the last ones out.”
The Room of Requirement had grown considerably quieter. Only a few kids remained; Including Neville, Ginny, Luna, Aaron, Mason, and Rayner. Carter had disappeared. The two friends walked into the corridor, the sudden coolness of the November air hitting them in the faces. Abel tightened her robes around her body and shivered. It was late. Out the windows, a crescent moon hung high in the sky. Stars glittered around it, each twinkling in the distance. The suits of armor turned to the sounds of their footsteps, but quickly returned to their positions after realizing it was just two students.
“They’ll always remain loyal to Hogwarts.” said Jasmine, following Abel’s gaze. One suit of armor held a long sword in it’s right hand and a big shield in the other. Hogwarts’s insignia was plastered in the middle.
“I hope so.” Abel whispered. She tore her eyes away it and instead stared at the floor.
“So I think I saw Carter watching you.” she said, nudging the girl in the arm.
Abel smiled; Even in these dark times, Jasmine was always trying to lighten the mood.

Well here's the first part. I hope it was okay.

Mmmm. No replies. Oh well, here's the next part anyway!

“Abel, wake up. Wake up!”
Jasmine leaned over her sleeping friend and prodded the girl in the shoulder.
“Come on, Abel. We’ve got Dark Arts today.”
Abel Myers rolled over onto her back and blinked up at the girl who was about five inches away from her face. Jasmine pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose before grabbing her hand and pulling her upright.
“We’re going to be late!” She pressed.
“What time is it? Abel muttered. She rubbed her eyes sleepily.
“It doesn’t matter! Get dressed we have to go!” Even as she was speaking she was pulling robes out of Abel’s trunk.
The other girls living the dormitory were already gone. Abel looked around the room. All of the beds were made, the blue blankets pulled nicely up to the white pillows. The curtains were pushed aside on the windows, and the view of the surrounding mountains was visible through the frosted glass.
“Here. Brush your hair.” snapped Jasmine, flinging a wooden hairbrush in her direction.
“What about breakfast?” Abel whined. She picked up the brush and studied the white-blonde pieces of the hair stuck in it.
“We’ve missed it.” she said. “I got up late too.”
“What?”
“Come on!”
Abel pulled on her Ravenclaw robes and quickly dragged the brush through her hair. Jasmine tossed her her wand and ran out the door.
“Hey, wait up!” She shouted.

Amycus Carrow counted heads in the Dark Arts classroom. The Gryffindors, Hufflepuffs, and Ravenclaws were huddled together in one corner, where they were silent save for the few seventh years who were trying to calm down the younger kids. The Slytherins stood against the opposite wall. They talked together in whispers and occasionally a smug giggle issued from one of them.
Amycus’s pudgy face contorted in confusion as he looked over the list of students.
There should be 30 students, he thought. Two are missing.
Aaron Myers looked around nervously. Finally, he tapped a fellow Ravenclaw on the shoulder.
“Have you seen my sister?” he asked in a whisper. His dark blue eyes sparkled with worry.
“No sorry.” The boy answered. He turned back to talk to another friend.
“Carter.” he said through his teeth.
The Gryffindor turned at his name.
“You’re friends with Abel, right? Have you seen her?”
“Not since yesterday.” He replied, shaking his shaggy brown hair. “Why?”
“She’s supposed to be here.”
“What?”
Aaron nodded vigorously. He looked around the room again, searching for a head of hair the same exact color as his.
“Over there.” Said Carter suddenly. He nodded his head in the direction of the door.
Abel and Jasmine were leaning against the door frame. Jasmine pointed to Amycus, then made a shooing motion with her hand.
“We need to distract him.” Aaron said, translating.
“Easy.” Carter raised his wand pointed it at a pile of books stacked on a desk in the far corner. “Wingardium Leviosa.” The books floated, and with a sudden jab of the boy’s wand, they flew onto the floor in different directions.
Amycus looked up at the noise. He glanced around at the students, but with a shrug he flicked his wand and books replaced themselves.
“Do it again.” whispered Aaron urgently.
Once again the spell books spewed in different directions. Aaron pulled out his own wand, and hiding behind a desk, he used a nonverbal spell to pick up one of the books and start hitting a Slytherin with it.
Laughter broke out from the students. The poor Slytherin was trying unsuccessfully to dodge the hardcover book from chasing him. Some of the Gryffindors saw the two boys with their wands out and they protectively moved in front of them, hiding the two completely from view.
Amycus’s beady eyes looked around the room
“Who’s doin’ that?!” He shouted at the kids.
No one answered, but more laughter arose.
“Stop it!” The man chased after a book. Carter flicked his wand and it flew just out of his reach.
In the distraction, Aaron gestured to his little sister. Abel looked at the Carrow, then nimbly ran past the bookshelves and desks to duck down next to him. Jasmine followed closely behind.
“Thanks guys.” They said in unison. Abel’s eyes strayed to Carter’s, but he quickly looked away at the Slytherins.
“I think that’s enough.” Said Aaron. The four suddenly jumped up, trying to look as innocently as possible. The wall of Gryffindors dispersed and the books fell to the ground.
“I think it was Peeves.” Said a bold Hufflepuff with a smile.
“Peeves.” Amycus sputtered. His face turned red as he threw the books into the corner, not caring how they ended up.
He returned to his desk and looked once again over the list of students. His eyebrows furrowed as he counted 30 students in the room.
“Take your seats!” he finally barked, throwing the piece of parchment over his shoulder.

There ya go!

Here's the next part!

Everyone in the class immediately took their seats. Abel and Jasmine sat together, right behind Carter and Aaron. Amycus paced back and forth across the front of the room, his body hunched and his tiny eyes scanning over the kids.
“Today is another good day for practicin’ the Cruciatus Curse.” He began.
Some of the students looked up; The Slytherins in anticipation, and the others in dismay.
“Filch’s caught a couple o’ trouble makers on the fourth floor last night. I want some o’ ya to practice the curse on them. The others will be paired.”
The Death Eater flicked his wand. A door in the back of the room opened, and multiple scared looking kids walked out. There were four in all, and the youngest was a second year Gryffindor.
Carters mouth fell open, his green eyes falling on his little brother. Aaron noticed this too. He nudged the boy in warning.
“Don’t,” he whispered.
“You. You’re with him.” Amycus pushed Connor towards a seventh year Slytherin.
Aaron shot a glance over his shoulder. His face had paled.
“What?” whispered Abel.
Aaron gestured at the young boy, then to Carter. Abel’s pale eyebrows rose in a silent question. The boy nodded, turning back to face the front.
“What’s wrong?” asked Jasmine.
“That’s Carter’s brother.” she muttered.
“What? How’d he end up here?”
“I don’t know.” she said back.
Amycus pushed the three remaining kids towards the Slytherins as well - two sixth year Hufflepuff boys and a fourth year Gryffindor girl.
Carter’s hand curled into a fist, his knuckles turning white.
“Carter?” Abel said gently. He didn’t respond. She was about to say something more, but Amycus walked over to the boys’s table.
A smug smile passed over his doughy face as he said, “Your partner’s behind ya.”
“What?” was Aaron’s instant reply.
“Ya heard me.” The Death Eater said over his shoulder.
Aaron turned to look at Jasmine, while Carter shot a quick glance at Abel.
“No. I’m not doing this.” said the seventh year.
“Neither am I.” said Jasmine. She pulled at her curly brown hair nervously.
“Carter.” said Aaron firmly. The Gryffindor was anxiously watching his little brother, but he turned to stare at the Ravenclaw instead.
“What?”
“You’re with my sister.” he growled, “You better not-”
“I won't.” Carter quickly defended. He eyes moved once again over to Connor and the Slytherin, who had now moved to stand in the corner.
“We need to find a way out of this.” Said Abel urgently.
“What do you suggest we do?” asked Jasmine, pushing her glasses up the bridge of her nose.
“I don’t know.”
Abel jumped as a tortured scream pierced the air. She looked around to find the Gryffindor girl kneeling on the ground. An older Slytherin girl stood above her, a passive expression on her face.
Another scream filled the air. It was interrupted by the skittering of a chair; Carter had jumped up, his wand tightly in his hand.
“No Carter!” shouted Aaron. He gripped the boy’s upper arms, trying to keep him under control.
“Do you want me to just sit here?” He yelled back. “He’s my brother!”
Little Connor was also on the ground. He shrieked in pain and pulled at his dark hair. “Carter, I’m sorry. You can’t do anything.”
The boy looked desperately between his friends. Abel stood up, a sympathetic look on her face.
“Come on, we can’t look like we’re not doing anything.” she glanced around at the bustling classroom. ‘Crucios’ and screams alike filled the air. She pulled Carter away towards an empty spot. Aaron and Jasmine moved away too.

Amycus walked around, weaving in between students and spells. He passed by the second year Gryffindor, who was now lying on the floor, completely at the older boy’s mercy. Content, he moved on to another pair.

Abel watched as the Carrow moved over to them. She first looked at Carter, then back to Amycus.
“Go on then.” He said rather grumpily.
Abel’s eyes widened at Carter, who had raised his wand. He shot a look of sympathy before muttering the unforgivable curse under his breath.

Ugh! This dark stuff is kinda hard to write. How was that??

Brilliant post! I know you found it hard to write, but you did it beautifully. You really created a dark atmosphere and it kept me hooked until the very end! Your characters are great and your writing is fantastic. Keep up the good work!

So I've been working on this part for like forever!

As soon as the class was over, Carter grabbed his little bother and pulled him out of the classroom without so much as a word to Abel. The Ravenclaw bent down and picked up her wand, which had fallen on the floor a few feet away. Then she dodged through the students to find Aaron helping Jasmine up.
“Are you okay?” Asked Aaron as soon as he saw his sister.
“I’m fine.” She said back. “Are you two okay?”
They both exchanged glances. “About as okay as you can be after being ‘crucio-ed’.” Said Jasmine with an uneasy smile. She adjusted her askew glasses.
“Did Carter…?” began Aaron.
Abel nodded slightly. “Amycus was hovering around us. He had to.”
“Oh.” an expression of anger and dismay passed over his face. “You two have a free period right?” he asked.
The girls nodded.
“Go rest.” he commanded. “I have to get to Transfiguration.” With that he grabbed his bags and followed his classmates out the door.
“Let’s get out of here.” muttered Abel, glancing at the Death Eater standing by his desk. “I don’t want to be the last one out.”

The two weaved in and out of the crowded hallways. They finally came to the Grand Staircase, where they had to wait while a set of stairs shifted to move down to their level. Some of the students passing them were whispering and laughing. Abel caught some of the words they said: Carrows, Filch, painting.
After a moment, Jasmine pulled at her friends sleeve.
“Before we go to the common room, I want to stop on the fourth floor. I want to know why those kids got in trouble.” she said. “And what everyone’s talking about.”
The staircase finally settled, and they quickly climbed up. They pushed past some kids, avoided some patrolling Death Eaters, and scurried down a couple of corridors before they finally got their answer.
A small group of kids were in a semi-circle against one of the hallway’s stone walls. They moved over to the group, standing on their tiptoes to be able to see above the students’s heads.
Filch stood with a bucket and brush in his hand. He was scowling at the wall; His face was twisted up in anger. Mrs. Norris sat at his feet, her tail thumping rhythmically on the ground. Some of the students giggled at the large picture painted on the wall.
The mural was of the Carrows -both Amycus and Alecto- and Filch. Their features were exaggerated. The Carrows looked pudgy and fat, while Filch looked stretched and tall. All of their eyes were just black dots and their mouths a thin line. The two Death Eaters were holding wands, something that just looked like a thin twig.
“Alright, that’s enough!” Shouted Filch angrily. He waved the brush around at the kids.
Abel and Jasmine exchanged a humorous look.
“I can’t believe they did that.” said Jasmine in a voice that was almost unapproving.
“I’m kind of happy they did.” put in Abel. “This school needs a good laugh.”
Jasmine was looking around. Her eyes fell on something that was over Abel’s shoulder. She nudged her and gestured with a nod of her head.
“What?”
“Carter.” Jasmine mouthed.
Abel spun around. Sure enough, Carter and Connor were standing in an alcove by one of the school’s statues. The younger boy’s face was tearstained. His older brother stood above him, his face contorted in anger.
“Come on.” Abel pulled her friend closer to hear what they were saying, but Jasmine tried to take a step back.
“No. It’s none of our business.” she said.
“Come on.”
They moved closer and were finally able to hear what the two boys were saying above the noise of the students.

“What were you thinking?” growled Carter.
“It’s not fair that you get to run around and do things in the DA and I can’t.” He whined.
“You can’t be in the DA.” He hissed back. “You’re only twelve; you’re too young and it’s too dangerous.”
“Well, you’re only fifteen. You’re not much older than me!” Connor challenged. “And is it’s so dangerous, then why are you in it?”
Don’t worry about me.” he said firmly.
Connor’s eyes fell onto the two girls watching him. When he didn’t respond Carter looked around too.
Jasmine quickly avoided her eyes and made herself busy with the hem of her sleeve. Abel, on the other hand, raised her hand in a wave.
Connor took the distraction to his advantage; He darted away while his brother wasn’t looking. With a quick curse and a sigh, Carter moved over to the girls.
“I like his picture.” Abel commented when he stood next to her.
“It was foolish.” he scoffed.
“But there’s no harm done.” she replied. “Of course he was crucio-ed by a big scary Slytherin,” -Carter raised his eyebrow in a silent question- “But he’s fine now. Come on, Carter, it’s funny.”
“But it was stupid. He shouldn’t have-”
“He’s just trying to live up to his big brother.” Abel said, nudging him with her shoulder.
Carter muttered some inaudible things.
“Okay!” interrupted Jasmine. “Abel and I really should go. We’ve got precious time in our free period and we really don’t want to waste it.” She grabbed her friend’s arm and began to pull her away.
“Hey, Carter, spare you’re brother. He didn’t mean anything by it.” Abel said over her shoulder. She sent him a smile before running down the corridor with Jasmine.
Carter shook his head and turned his attention back to the mural. He said some more things under his breath as they disappeared.

I'll leave it right there.

New post??

As the day continued on, none of Abel’s classes got any better. The only highlight of her whole day was when Professor Flitwick gave Ravenclaw 15 house points for passing him a box of feathers for the first years to practice on.
When the final class was over, a group of Death Eaters escorted them to the Great Hall for dinner. Abel and Jasmine were walking next to each other with their heads down and their eyes on the ground. Every so often one of the girl’s dared a look up, and as their eyes scanned over the crowd of students, their look was usually returned by either a pitiful glance from a teacher, or a stone cold glare from a Death Eater.
They finally reached the Great Hall, and the group immediately broke apart. Even though nobody said anything, Abel could tell that her fellow classmates were relieved to be there. The two girls walked over to the Ravenclaw table, where Abel found her brother with his friends. She plopped down next to him, while Jasmine sat across the table by Mason.
“How was your day?” Aaron asked, trying to start a conversation. He passed his little sister a roll, who bit into it gratefully.
“Fine.” Said Jasmine.
“It sucked.” Said Abel at the same time.
Aaron smiled and reached for a glass of pumpkin juice.
“How was yours?”
Aaron’s grin grew a little wider. “I think you already know.”
“It sucked.” Abel repeated.
“Yep.”
“So did you guys see the little painting on the fourth floor?” Jasmine smirked. She glanced at Mason, then at Rayner who was sitting on Aaron’s other side.
Aaron barked out a laugh and the others joined in. “Yeah. That little kid’s got some guts to do that.” He said.
Just as they were dishing out food onto their plates, a bunch of owls flew in through the windows overhead. Their heads swiveled back and forth as they looked for the owner. Most of them dropped letters or rolled up packages; the newest edition of either the Quibbler or the Prophet.
A tawny brown owl dove down and dropped a copy of the Quibbler in front of Aaron. He quickly picked up the colorful magazine and unrolled it. Abel looked over her brother’s shoulder, her jaw dropping at the pronounced title.
Break In at Gringotts.
Right underneath the bolded title was a picture of the famous wizarding bank. The glass roof was caved in, and there was rubble everywhere. Goblins and wizards alike were seen running around from the debris.
“Oh my gosh!” Abel looked up at Jasmine, who had seen the cover that another Ravenclaw was holding.
She pulled the magazine out of his hand, and the boy yelped out a ‘hey!’.
“Sorry.” She murmured, flipping open to the page with the article.
Aaron opened his own copy, but before he could even find the right page, Terry Boot jumped up from the Hufflepuff table.
“Harry Potter robbed Gingotts!” He shouted.
Those who didn’t have the copy of the Quibbler suddenly became quiet. Everyone’s eyes fell on the boy as he continued.
“And he rode a dragon out of there!” He folded back a page, where there was a picture of a great, scarred dragon. Only the students right around Terry were able to see the photo, so there was a sudden rustling of paper as other students began flipping through the Quibbler, Aaron included. Abel leaned over further, and she pushed a couple strands of white-blonde hair behind her ear.
In the picture, the dragon was flying, it’s wings beating up and down as it tried to stay aloft. Broken chains dangled off of its feet, and they were in the process of knocking over a chimney atop a building. Three teenagers were sitting on the creatures back, and they were holding on to it for dear life. Abel automatically recognized Harry’s untidy jet black hair and glasses, the bushy head of Hermione, and Ron’s unmistakable Weasley red hair and freckles.
“Harry Potter’s not on the run! He’s up to something, I know it.” Terry smiled greatly.
There was sudden cheering from every table except for the Slytherin, who were still silent, and Abel noticed that a few of them were looking around at the Death Eaters anxiously.
Boom!
A flash a blue light and a moment later, Terry had jumped down from the bench he was standing on. Alecto Carrow advanced, her wand aloft and pointing at him. She twisted her hand and threw her arm up; A jet of red light erupted out of the tip and flew at Terry, who ducked down just in time. Another Death Eater appeared behind him. He was masked, and Abel couldn’t tell who it was.
As the Hufflepuff straightened, he dodged a punch the Death Eater threw at him. Some of the students gasped. Abel noticed that a couple of the teachers had made sudden movements, but none of them were getting up to help.
The Death Eater punched at Terry again, and the boy wasn’t lucky enough a second time. He was hit on the temple and as he doubled over, clutching at his head, the Death Eater kicked out at him in the thigh.
“Crucio!”
The Great Hall was suddenly pierced by a scream, and the Hufflepuff fell to his hands and knees. Alecto stood over him, a trumpet grin on her face.
“If anyone else has anything to say about Harry Potter, they’ll be getting much worse.” She stated. Staring down at the boy, she repeated the curse, and Terry’s screams became louder.
Abel looked up at the teacher’s table, where se saw many different expressions on the Professors’ faces; Flitwick was looking in a different direction, and he winced everytime the student’s screams were renewed. McGonagall was staring down the Death Eaters with a look of pure loathing, and Slughorn looked upset. He was playing with a tassel on his robe. Snape’s face, on the other hand, was completely blank. He showed no emotion as he looked from Terry Boot to the other students sitting at the table. He made brief eye contact with Abel, who gave a small gasp of terror and looked away.
When Alecto Carrow finally let the boy go, the Great Hall was dead silent. Aaron looked between the Death Eater and Terry as he quietly returned to his seat. He wiped his sleeve against his temple, which was bleeding slightly, and resumed eating as if nothing had happened.
“If that’s it then…” Alecto put her wand back, and moved to stand next to her brother.
Aaron, Abel, and Jasmine exchanged uneasy glances. Slowly, very slowly, talk resumed and dinner continued on; But that night, The Headmaster never made a speech (not that he would anyway), the teachers didn’t make any announcements, and the ghosts didn’t float around, chatting idly. For the past three months, every night was similar to this one, but now there was one exception. Tonight, new thoughts were pricking at the back of peoples’ minds.
Why would Harry Potter break into Gringotts?
How could Gringotts even be broken into? It’s one of the safest places in the world.
What is Harry Potter up to?

How was that??

Maybe if I update...?

As the days went on, the drama never died down at Hogwarts. Students were always carrying clippings from the Quibbler, or whispering amongst themselves about what’s going on outside the school. The Carrows were getting harsher and harsher everyday: Taking points away from the houses and giving out random detentions or punishments.
Abel and Jasmine tried to lie low. They behaved, went to class, did their homework, and never broke curfew. It was one night, though, that some of the kids decided to break a few rules.

Ginny Weasley crept up the stairs to the boy’s dormitory. She held her wand aloft, the tip illuminated by a lumos charm. She flipped her fiery red hair behind her shoulders before she gently pushed open the door to the seventh year dormitory.
Glancing around, she saw the figures of Dean and Seamus, and the two empty beds that were once Harry’s and Ron’s. Moving passed them, she finally found Neville’s bed, which stood by the far side of the room. She wrenched back the curtains, and switching her wand to her other hand, she prodded the boy in the shoulder.
“Neville, wake up.” She hissed.
“Huh? Wuzzup? He asked sleepily, rolling over and looking up at her.
“Ginny?! What are you doing here?”
Ginny didn’t respond, but instead gestured for him to follow her. The boy jumped up and grabbed a robe with one hand, while jamming on a pair of shoes with the other.
The girl disappeared, but shortly returned with an equally tired looking fifth year boy, who Neville recognized as Carter Reynolds, from the DA. The three of them snuck back down the stairs to the common room, where they settled onto the slouchy couch that was in front of the now extinguished fire. Ginny looked around anxiously before speaking in a low whisper.
“Now.” She said. “We have to steal the sword right now.”
“What?” Yelped Carter. The two older Gryffindors ‘shhed’ at him as he continued in a lower voice. “Why right now? It’s the middle of the night?”

“Exactly.” Said Ginny. “What better time?”

“But the sword’s in the Headmaster’s office, and Snape’s probably in there too.” pointed out Carter. “Can’t we do it during the school day, when he’s not there?”

“We can’t wait any longer. Harry needs the sword. Why else would Dumbledore leave it in his will?”

“But-” He looked between Ginny and Neville. “Well, what do you think?” He asked at last, his eyes falling on the boy.
“If Ginny’s right, and Harry does need the sword, we can’t wait any longer.” he said. “Besides, I don’t want it to stay with that traitor any longer than it should.”
“Ok, but what if we run into a Death Eater? What if we run into Snape?”

“We won’t.” Said Ginny. “No one’s out this late.”
“What time is it anyway?”
“Almost two o’clock in the morning.” Said Neville
“Of course, if you’d rather sleep than help Harry Potter, than that’s okay too.” Said Ginny.
Carter seemed to pull together every ounce of Gryffinfor-ness in him, and he quickly snapped defiantly, “No, I’ll help you.”
A smug smile passed over Ginny’s face, but it quickly disappeared.
“Neville, are you in?”
“Of course.” He said almost grinning.
Ginny glanced between the two boys before saying, “Great. Now let’s get to work.”

Was that ok?

Hmmm. Well there's not that many replies... Anyways here's the next part!

Ginny was right. Absolutely every hallway was empty. There were no Death Eaters, no ghosts, no professors; The three Gryffindors were probably the only ones awake in the whole castle. The three tip-toed down the corridor that led to the headmaster’s office. Ginny took the lead, with Neville right behind her, and Carter taking the rear. He was constantly looking over his shoulder, checking to make sure the hallways were still clear. Occasionally a suit of armour shifted it’s position to face them, but for the most part they paid no attention to the students who were sneaking around the corridors after curfew.
When they finally reached the gargoyle that stood guard, Carter could feel it’s stone eyes passing over them.
“Yes?” It questioned.
“Is Professor Snape is his office?” Ginny asked casually.
“The Headmaster is... asleep.” It drawled in a slow and gritty voice.
“Yes but is he in his office?”
The gargoyle looked to be annoyed. It blinked two sleepy eyes.
“The headmaster is asleep.” It repeated.
“We need to get in there.” Said Neville, flicking his wand towards the room that laid behind the door it protected.
“Password?” The gargoyle asked.
“It’s an emergency.” Neville continued.
The gargoyle said nothing for a minute. Then it said yet again. “Password?”
The three kids exchanged looks.
“Just say something.” Said Carter.
Ginny and Neville glanced each other, and the next minute they’re all saying different words, anything that might have been in the running. They’re voices blurred together, and after a couple of minutes, the gargoyle leapt aside with a look of disapproval.
“We got it.” Said Neville, almost incredulously. “That was… easy.”
Single file, they walked into the office. Carter took a good look around, taking in the sleeping portraits on the walls, the large desk looming in front of him, and the picture of Dumbledore directly behind it. A glint of red caught his eye, and he spotted Godric Gryffindor’s sword gleaming in a glass case.
Ginny noticed this too, and elbowed Neville in the arm.
The boy eyed the case cautiously then said. “Great. Now how do we get it?”
“We just take it.” Said Ginny matter-of-factly.
Carter grabbed her upper arm before she took a step forward. “Don’t you think there will be protections around it?” he asked.
“I don’t think so.” She replied slowly, but her brown eyes narrowed slightly. “Snape probably thought that a student wouldn’t even try to break into his office.”
“Maybe… but still… Even if we get it, what do we do with it?” he questioned.
“Get it to Harry.” Ginny said simply. She walked forward to the case to get a closer look. Neville moved to stand next to her, leaving Carter to stand by himself in the middle of the office. He glanced over his shoulder to make sure the office door was still closed, then quickly walked over to them.
“But what do we do with it until then?”
“We’ll hide it.” Neville said. “Here help us.” Even as he was speaking, he was pulling out his wand. Carter heard him mutter ‘Wingardium Leviosa’ under his breath, and as the glass case shuttered, Ginny whipped out her own wand and helped to steady the case as it floated into the air.
“Grab it.” Ginny hissed.
Carter took a deep breath before wrapping his hands around the jeweled hilt. The case set back down with a light ‘clang’, and the two Gryffindors turned to smile at Carter.
“Let’s go.” He murmured, offering the ancient artifact to Neville.

Was that ok?
