Alicia let her gaze return to the tryouts, hoping that she would be able to figure out where her two friends had gone. Soon, the thought had been totally shoved from her head as she watched Ron’s tryout- well, stared at Hermione throughout Ron’s tryout.
I can’t believe you!” she hissed as she caught up with Hermione while the others headed towards the castle. She braced her arm against the locker room exterior wall.
“What?” Hermione said defensively, suddenly jumpy and nervous.
I know what you did, remember? Mind- reader!” Alicia hissed through her teeth, her emerald eyes narrowed. “I can’t believe you actually Confunded McLaggen!
He deserved it!” Hermione hissed back as Jamie doubled back to see where they’d got to.
Girls? You still out here?” His voice travelled towards them with the wind.
ONE MINUTE, LOVE, I LEFT SOMETHING IN THE STAND!” Alicia shouted over her shoulder before returning to stare at Hermione. “Aren’t you the one who keeps ranting about not breaking rules?
Oh, shut up, Alicia, like you care about the rules! And don’t think you weren’t thinking about doing something to him!” Hermione snapped and Alicia’s straight face crumpled into a wide grin.
Okay... You win- this time,” Alicia said, making Hermione laugh. They ran to re-join the group as they headed for lunch. Hermione and Harry fell behind at the door as Alicia jumped onto Jamie’s back, nearly sending him into a face-plant. Lunch was the same as usual, apart from Ron rabbiting on about how he saved each goal.
Did you get what you were looking for?” Jamie asked as they stood up from the table. Alicia ignored him, staring out into the sea of faces. “Alicia?” Emily, Hermione, and Harry heard Jamie and turned back round. Emily was at her side immediately, Draco right behind her.
Sis? What is it?” She leaned forward on the table to see into Alicia’s face. “It’s a vision...” she said, slightly relieved. Jamie and Draco pulled her away from the table and out of the Hall. Alicia jumped and nearly crashed to the floor as the boys released her in shock. “What did you see?” Emily asked, without a pause to let her steady herself.
You. Me. Dorm. Now,” Alicia said in a deadly voice, glaring at Emily. Emily went to protest but Alicia’s glare turned black. “Now.” Emily glanced at Draco and Jamie before heading towards the Common Room. “And you,” Emily turned to see that Alicia had turned on Draco. “We’ve got words to exchange soon- don’t hide in the Slytherin Common Room, I can get in there.” Alicia’s words didn’t sound like she was joking, so Draco just nodded. “Walk. Now,” Alicia said, noticing Emily in the middle of the staircase.
The pair walked in silence right up until Alicia drew ahead to open the dormitory door for Emily.
Hey, guys, you couldn’t give us a minute, could you?” Emily said in a strained voice. Lavender and Parvati glanced at Alicia’s dark face before scuttling from the room. “Right... What did you see?
Why didn’t you tell me what today is?” Alicia’s words were full of emotion that Emily couldn’t place.
I- I- I don’t know...” she said finally, dropping onto her bed.
You don’t know?” Alicia repeated, moving towards her own bed and sitting cross- legged in the center. “Wanna know what I don’t know?
Not really- you know everything...” Emily mumbled and Alicia’s lip twitched slightly.
I don’t know what’s gotten into you, lately,” Alicia said in a calm voice, which hinted at anger. “First, you go crazy and run off, then you ‘don’t know’ why you didn’t tell your only sister about your father’s birthday and then you promise him that you’re going to revenge his death!
How do you know about that?” Emily said automatically, her voice a slap.
The future,” Alicia spat at her, jumping off the bed. “How would you like it when one minute you’re regretting letting Hermione Confund that McLaggen oaf and then you’re in the future, standing at the side of your sister’s grave- on the same date as her father’s birthday?” Alicia was pressing her fists into her temples so hard, the ring on her right hand was drawing blood. “I don’t even know when this was- whether it was one year, two years, ten years, twenty years- all I saw was your name on the tombstone... Here lies Emily James Remus Amelia Sirius... That was all I could read- how many more Emily James Remus Amelia Sirius’s do I know, exactly?” Alicia’s voice was suddenly sarcastic.
Alicia, I- ” Emily said in a strained voice but Alicia shook her head, the trickle of blood mixing with her tears.
There’s a song- A line in the chorus is I don’t care what you think as long it’s about me... Strangely, that’s what running through my head at the moment... Are you thinking about me? Or Draco? Or Harry? Or just Emily?” Alicia said, wiping her face on the hem of her jade green halter neck dress so that there was a small red mark there.
Don’t start with guilt trips, Alicia,” Emily said defensively, watching her carefully. “That’s why I’m going to do what I need to do- because I’m thinking about all of you-
Bull,” Alicia spat, turning and running for the door. “Just remember that I’ll love you no matter how you decide to destroy your future.” And with that, Alicia ran. She knew that it had been her idea to pull Emily away from the others- her that had lost her temper so easily- that it shouldn’t be her doing the escaping. But she had to. It didn’t matter where she went in the castle or its large grounds, there was always a memory to squeeze at her heart. Look, there was where Draco had first called her a Mudblood in first year. And behind that door was where she’d found out Sirius’s fate.
Alicia?!” Even Jamie’s panicked voice pulled at stitches on her heart- making her run faster. She didn’t even understand where all this emotion was coming from- just knew that it was too much. “ALICIA!” Jamie’s voice was mixed with footsteps as she vaulted the wall by the front steps. The solid barrier of cold air didn’t help clear her head so she continued to run. “HERMIONE, CHECK ON EMILY! SOMEONE GET FIRENZE!” Why was Firenze always getting roped into her problems?
Jamie? Is there a problem?” Firenze’s calm, serene voice made Alicia slow slightly. She felt several pairs of eyes on her back but didn’t turn to meet them. The footsteps continued, now accompanied by hooves on grass. “What is wrong with her?” Firenze’s voice washed over her and again, she slowed.
I don’t know! She had a vision and then practically ripped Emily’s head off to get her upstairs and then she just blasted past us.” Jamie’s voice didn’t have the same effect on her though, making her gain speed. Firenze noticed and sped up too, catching her up in a few seconds and pulling her to a stop. They were half way around the Lake.
What is it?” Firenze’s voice washed over her in a blaze of serenity, hatred, and pain. She felt like her usual self as Firenze held onto her but a flash of hatred burned through her skin at the touch. The pain seemed totally unrelated as it blasted into her head, making her scream.
You may not want to believe me but somewhere inside, you do. Alicia didn’t know what to do. It had been nearly a year since Voldemort had spoken in her head.
Leave us alone. We haven’t done anything to deserve being hunted! He just laughed at her reply and she saw the only explanation. You’ve been controlling my moods.
Clever girl... Every hint of anger you’ve felt, I put there. Can you see the way out of this yet?
Yes- I’ll do whatever you want... Just, please leave the others alone from now on!
Alicia, young one? Can you hear me?” Firenze’s voice was worried, a strange reaction. Alicia’s eyelids fluttered open and she heard someone- Jamie- sigh in relief. But it morphed into a shocked breath. “What have you done?” Firenze said in a low voice as he looked into her eyes. She focused on his thoughts and found the image of herself. Her eyes were a bright blue, stained with red flashes.
I took the easy option out,” Alicia whispered in guilt, her eyes on her hands.

Sorry for the long wait!

Emily stared at the door for a while as tears silently made their way down her cheeks and then she shook her head. Slowly at first, almost as if to rid the memory of what just happened, and then more violently, wishing it would all go away—the pain, the heartache, the deaths, everything. Emily stood swiftly as her tears were accompanied by sobs from deep in her throat. She grabbed everything in reach—throwing, launching, slamming, smashing, and breaking.

Thinking about myself? she repeated in her mind as she continued her rampage. Her hands were shaking so much that everything she tried to pick up slipped from her hands. She slid down the wall of the dormitory, her head back against the wall as she cried openly.

“Emily?” Hermione asked hesitantly, almost as if she was afraid of what Emily might throw at her next.

“Draco,” Emily whispered without bothering to open her eyes.

“No, it’s Hermione…” Hermione responded nervously.

“I. want. Draco.” Emily annunciated very slowly as her hands slid to the floor beside her legs. Her right hand hit something sharp and she picked it up slowly, seeing that it was a piece of glass, probably from the picture frame of her, Alicia, Draco, and Jamie that she had smattered. She glanced at the doorway once, only to see nobody, before glancing back down at the triangular shaped weapon in her hands.

It would be so simple, really. A quick little slice, and she'd feel something. Throwing and smashing things had felt good, but pain would feel better. It’s what she felt she deserved after hurting so many people; after killing her father. Nothing would be right ever again. Nothing would be painless from here on out; every choice will cost something or someone.

Emily closed her eyes more tightly as the conversations, the deaths, the memories flew through her mind. It hurt. It would be so simple to shut out the rest of the world and focus on the physical pain. Not the emotional pain from the memories, but the raw, physical pain caused by a single piece of glass. But she never got the chance.

"Don't you dare," Draco shouted in a raspy voice. She didn’t hear Hermione say the spell that caused the glass to disappear from her hand; Her now wide-open eyes were focused solely on Draco. He lifted her up and carried her out of the room while Hermione repaired Emily’s belongings.

“What were you thinking?” Draco repeated over and over again as he made his way down the stairs of her dormitory and into the Common Room. Everyone immediately started asking questions, but Draco ignored them and continued out of the Portrait Hole.

Emily’s hands tightened around his neck as her head buried in his neck. “I want the pain to go away,” she whispered against his skin.

“So you were going to inflict more?” he asked in confusion.

“Yes,” Emily replied simply.

Draco shook his head as he started walking back and forth in front of a wall. He stopped suddenly and shifted the girl in his arms so he could open the door. He immediately went to the bed in the middle of the room and set her down gently on the plush mattress. Her hands slid from his neck as he kissed her forehead. He went back and locked the door, making it so nobody else could get in before slowly walking back to Emily.

“I’m scared for you,” Draco whispered as he leaned against the bed post. Emily met his eyes briefly before they dropped back to her arm.

“Me too,” she confessed.

“So what do we do about it?” he asked quietly as he shoved his hands into his jean pockets.

“I don’t know anymore,” she whispered before thinking and then she flinched as Alicia’s words ran through her mind.

“Me either, Emily. I don’t know what to do or say! I don’t know why you keep doing these things, and anything I do say is obviously not helping! I don’t want to lose you, Emily, but I don’t know how I can keep you if you keep trying to hurt yourself!”

Emily sat up slowly in the bed, leaning back against the frame as they stared at each other. Emily barely lifted her hand in a motion to tell him to come closer before he hurled himself at her, wrapping her against his body, as he held her tightly.

“Draco,” she whispered as her fingers delved into his blonde locks. “I don’t know what to do, but I do know I’m not ready to let you go yet…or ever.”

“So, what are we going to do now?” he whispered, his hot breath washing over her face as her forehead met his forehead.

Emily shrugged slightly as he shifted in the bed and she curled up into his side. “I don’t feel safe anymore,” she whispered and Draco instantly tightened his arm around her. “But that’s not going to change until Voldemort and Bellatrix are dead,” she continued.

“I won’t let them hurt you,” Draco whispered as he kissed her temple.

“It’s not me I’m worried about,” Emily answered.

“I know… Which brings us to Alicia. What happened in the dormitory?” Draco asked hesitantly.

“Sh-she had a vi-vision,” Emily whispered as tears formed in her eyes. “She saw my gravestone.” Draco wiped at her tears, his adam's apple bobbing as he swallowed.

“When?” he whispered, his voice gruff.

Emily stayed quiet for a moment as she intertwined her and Draco’s fingers. “The date was the same as today… But she didn’t know what year,” Emily whispered, barely audible. Draco buried his face in her hair, his forehead resting on her shoulder. After a minute or so, Emily realized that there was liquid rolling over her shoulders and down her back—Draco was crying silently.

“Drake, don’t…It won’t happen; we won’t let it!” Emily cried as she turned in his arms and held him to her. “We’ll change it… We have to,” she whispered before she kissed him hard on the lips. He kissed her back instantly and urgently.

“We have to,” he repeated as they broke apart for air.

“We will.” Draco tugged her to him and held her tightly to him, burying his face in her hair and breathing in the scent that was purely her.

“We should find Alicia and Jamie,” Emily murmured after a bit. He nodded silently as they got up and made their way out of the Room of Requirement.

Wow! Awesome post!
Poor Em; but she can't do that; Draco loves her and so does everyone else! I'm so glad he's helping her and trying to comfort her.
That must be awful for him to hear. But I'm sure she's right; they'll make it through.
Great job! Can't wait for more!

First and foremost, I'd like to apologize for the incredibly long wait. We didn't mean for the fic to go inactive, but Abi and I just got so busy that it slipped our minds. Sorry, guys.

And now, to treat you: Two posts!

Enjoy!

Abi's post:
Jamie paced along the bank as Alicia tried to explain what she had done. He didn’t want to listen, but the words floated over to him on the wind, burning into his thoughts.

“I don’t know what happened… One minute I was just surprised that Emily kept the date to herself and then I was suddenly furious at her,” Alicia said in a small voice, refusing to look at anything but her hands because of her eyes.

“We caught the angry part,” Ron muttered as he sat beside Harry on the grass. Alicia let out a tiny sound, which could have been a laugh.

“When we went upstairs, the anger sort of vanished and I was totally upset with her because I saw her future and it scared the hell out of me and then I just ran off and came out here… All of a sudden, I hate the sound of Jamie’s voice and the only voice I would listen to was Firenze’s… Then I’ve got Voldemort in my head telling me that he’s controlling my moods and that there was only one way out- the way I took… I swapped my freedom for everyone else’s safety… But I don’t think I’ve done the right thing… It feels like I’ve just allowed Voldemort access into my head so that I can become some sort of spy for him but at the same time I still feel like me… It’s like a war inside me, one side trying to destroy the other…” She hid her face in her hands as Jamie paused in his pacing to look at the Castle. Draco and Emily were on the stone front steps, angling towards them.

“We’ll fix this, Alicia,” Harry said quietly and one of the mood swings flared up.

“No. I don’t want your help! I don’t need anyone’s help! Just leave me alone!” Alicia snapped, glaring up at him with her strange eyes.

Jamie turned his back on the small group to watch as the couple drew nearer, refusing to let any thought enter his head. It wasn’t that he was angry with her. He knew that after her family and Sirius, she’d do anything to keep everyone safe. It was that he was so shocked at the choice she’d made it unnerved him, made it almost painful to think about. He kicked a small pebble into the still water as a cold wind rushed round them. The sound of the water splashing seemed to shake Alicia out of her anger and her eyes returned to her hands as she mumbled an apology. Jamie ignored Harry saying she didn’t need to and went to meet them halfway.

“What’s going on?” Draco said immediately, catching the hurt and shock that seemed to ooze from his friend. Jamie’s eyes flickered towards Emily, who held onto Draco tightly. “Jamie?”

“Alicia’s done something…” he said in a voice that crackled with pain. Emily’s eyes shot over his shoulder before landing on his face.

“What? Tell us, mate,” Draco said, putting a hand on Jamie’s shoulder. “You know you can trust us…”

Jamie looked into Draco’s face, only slightly lower than his, and knew that he was right. He’d gone from hating him to trusting him with his life in only a short time. Because of the two girls.

“She’s joined Voldemort,” he whispered and they both froze. “To try and keep us from getting hurt.”

“She can’t of… She couldn’t- ” Draco whispered in a shocked voice.

“She has… Her eyes prove it… She told us what happened…” He started to retell everything Alicia had said and then stopped. “What was your future that she saw? I know that’s the main reason she’s done this,” he said in a calm voice, looking down at Emily, who gripped Draco’s arm tighter. Jamie glanced at the thin scar on her wrist.

“I wanted the pain to go away,” Emily whispered in a hoarse voice as she covered the mark. Draco tensed slightly but remained quiet. “She saw my grave… it had today’s date on it but she couldn’t see the year,” she said, her voice barely a breath. Jamie nodded to himself and then continued with Alicia’s explanation.

“What do we do?” Draco said after a moment of silence. Jamie just shrugged in a helpless way.

“Harry said that he’d help find a way to fix it and she snapped at him… He’s still controlling her moods… She said that she can feel part of her wanting to join him but the other part is trying to fight against it… Draco, I don’t know what to do anymore.” Jamie’s whispered truth seemed to hurt him more than anything else that had happened. Hermione appeared beside them, rather breathless then and released Draco from Emily’s grip, leading her towards the others. Draco motioned that they should walk further away before they spoke.

“What do you feel like doing?” he asked and Jamie hid his face.

“Crying… Screaming… Running…” Jamie said into his hands as he fell onto a rock beside the water. “I feel like I’ve just lost everything that I cared about… Like it was ripped out of my hands and replaced by a burning pain, just to make the loss worse. If it was Emily, what would you do?”

“I- ” Draco paused, thinking about it quickly. “I don’t know… But I know what I’d do if I were you,” Jamie looked up with bloodshot eyes. “I’d do nothing. I’d act as if nothing had happened and let her work it out herself. She’s smart, Jamie… She’ll work something out, you know she will…” Jamie hid his face again and Draco sat next to him. “When Emily told me what Alicia had seen, I broke down, too… She told me that she’d never let it happen- I think she meant that you and Alicia and the others won’t let it happen… That’s why I’d do nothing- Alicia’s got her reasons, just let them play out for a while.”

“What if something happens to her? What if she does something to hurt us that she can’t control?” Jamie said in a hard voice, looking up at him.

“Then we’ll step in and take control of things… We’ll look after her so that doesn’t happen,” Draco said in a sure voice. Jamie nodded slowly, getting to his feet.

“I’m sorry, Alicia,” Emily said in a small voice as Hermione folded her legs up under her and leaned against Ron.

“I know… me too,” Alicia replied, keeping her eyes on Emily’s knees. “For everything I said and for what I’ve done…”

“It’s okay… I know you did it to protect us… there’s nothing wrong about looking after your family,” Emily said as she lowered herself down to the ground. “Can I see?” she asked quietly. Alicia hesitated and then glanced up at her face. Emily remained silent for a while and then smiled slightly. “I’ll get used to them… They’re sort of pretty actually,” she said in a calm voice.

“Did you cutting your wrists affect your head or something?” Alicia snapped, glaring at her. Emily seemed shocked for a second, covering her wrist before shaking her head. “Sorry!” Alicia said quickly, ducking her face down again.

“Look at me.” Alicia obeyed and Emily gave her a small smile. “I know that wasn’t you, Ali… Don’t let him have so much control… See if you can control him,” Alicia gave a weak chuckle before sighing.

“We need to talk though…” she said in a sad voice and Emily’s smile melted slowly.

“I know… But didn’t you want to talk to Draco, too?” Emily’s reminder brought back the regret about her temper. “Don’t beat yourself up, Ali… I still love you.” Emily noticed how her sister’s face turned towards Jamie and Draco by the bank. “And so does Jamie… He can’t stop loving you- you’re soul-mates.”

“He hates me,” Alicia said quietly and Emily pulled her to her feet. At first, Alicia flinched at the contact but Emily refused to let go until they were halfway towards the forest.

“He doesn’t hate you… He just hates the choice you made… That’s all. If I can get used to it, so can he… You’re still you underneath the eyes, just a bit moodier.” That made Alicia laugh. She flung herself into Emily’s arms, begging for her to forgive her about earlier. “Stop apologizing! It’s irritating- and there’s nothing to forgive.”

“I mean it though… I really am sorry! I only did it to save you… But the future hasn’t changed… Yet.” Alicia’s last word was suddenly hard and when she stepped back, her face was livid. “I will save you, Emily, I’ll do anything to save you.”

“I guessed as much… Look at what you’ve already done.” Emily made it sound teasing to lighten the mood, which worked because Alicia grinned.

My Post:
“Good to know that I’m not the only one,” Draco murmured as he and Jamie met them halfway. He instantly went to Emily’s side and wrapped a protective arm around her waist. Emily smiled slightly at him as she kissed his cheek.

Jamie took Alicia’s hand as they started back toward the castle. Emily caught a moment of anger pass through Alicia’s eyes as Jamie had touched her, but then her eyes went back to normal—well, the new normal.

She wasn’t sure how this was going to work—what they were going to do now with Alicia; how they could keep her safe.

“Let’s just go eat dinner—unless you guys think I’ll choke on my food and endanger my life.” Emily muttered the last part, but she felt Draco tense slightly and Alicia looking at her.

“It was a joke—chill,” Emily said.

“It wasn’t funny,” Draco replied shortly and Emily sighed. She wasn’t going to like this overprotective thing.

“Tough crowd,” Emily said.

As they ate, everyone was basically silent. Draco made sure he kept in physical contact with Emily the entire time; almost as if he were afraid she would drop dead any second. And she couldn’t help but think what if. What if she did drop dead at any moment? She looked over at Draco to see him playing with his food.

When she squeezed his hand, he automatically looked over at her.

A B C D E F G… “We’re going to skip the rest of dinner,” Emily said quietly to Alicia and Jamie as she tried to focus on only the alphabet. H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V… “Come on!” she said hastily as she tugged on Draco to go faster. They ran up the steps until they reached the seventh floor. W X Y and Z… Emily changed to numbers then until Draco got the door to the Room of Requirement open and she pulled him inside.

“What the bloody hell was that for?” Draco asked as he caught his breath. He pulled Emily over to the couch after she shut and locked the door.

“I needed to hurry before Alicia found out anything I didn’t want her to. And it’s hard to think of only the alphabet, I’ll have you know.”

“And why were you thinking of only the alphabet?” Draco asked in amusement.

“Because I wanted to talk with you first before anybody else found out,” she whispered. Emily shifted so she was straddling Draco’s lap. “I don’t want to die.” She heard Draco choke slightly as he pulled her into a hug.

“You won’t. I won’t let you,” Draco said.

“When have Ali’s visions ever been wrong, Drake? Never… I’m going to die, but I don’t think it will be today,” she said quietly against his neck. She pulled back to look at him.

“Her vision has to be wrong.” Emily leaned her forehead against his as tears strolled down her cheeks.

“I wanted everything with you,” she whispered. Draco started shaking his head but Emily continued regardless. “I still do, but we’re not going to get to grow old together, and that’s something we need to accept.”

“No.”

“I know this is going to sound crazy, but I want all that I can get with you before…” she whispered, unable to finish her thought. Draco held her more closely to him as he wiped at her tears.

“Let’s get married,” she breathed and Draco froze.

“Wh-what?” Draco stammered.

“I want to marry you before I die, and since we don’t when that is…” She let it hang there as he thought about it. He stared at her for quite a while before he kissed her hard on the mouth.

“When?” he asked simply. Emily grinned largely as she hugged him, burying her face in his blonde locks.

“Tonight?” she asked as a joke.

“Okay, wait here,” he whispered as he laid her back on the couch and stood.

“Where are you going? Are we really doing this tonight?” Emily asked as she sat up.

“Yes, just wait here. I’ll be right back. There’s something in my dormitory I need to get, okay?” He kissed her forehead gently before running off.

Emily waited on the couch for Draco to come back, trying hard not to smile, but found it entirely impossible. It didn’t matter that Alicia had seen that she would die—all that mattered was that she and Draco were about to get married and she was completely giddy. Draco returned fifteen minutes later, his hair slightly disheveled and panting from his run.

“Got it!” he announced as he closed and locked the door.

“And what exactly did you get?” Emily asked with a large smile as Draco sauntered toward her.

“This,” he whispered as he knelt down in front of her and opened the tiny black velvet box that she now noticed was clutched in his palm. Emily gasped as she stared openly at it before meeting Draco’s intense gaze. “I love you,” he said simply.

“How did you…know?” she said as she looked back at the ring set. And yes, she did mean set—engagement ring, and both bride and groom wedding bands—all matching, too.

“I didn’t necessarily know it was going to be soon, but when I passed it, looking for a gift for you, I knew it was the one for when we were ready… And now we are,” he whispered as his thumb caressed her cheeks, wiping the tears she didn’t know she was shedding.

“I love you,” she whispered before jumping on him to his spot in front of her. Her legs circled his waist as she sat on his knee. She kissed his lips hungrily as he stumbled to put the right ring on the proper finger. He picked her up easily, going to the couch as he stroked her hair.

“Are we really doing this?” he whispered after they broke for breath. Emily nodded slowly before leaning into his chest. “Ali and Jamie will want to know… Be there. The others would probably like to know too, at least Harry. And Remus—what about him?” Draco asked, voicing both of their thoughts.

“Well, we start by telling Dumbledore, who can get a message to Remus quickly using their Order communication thingy, and I’m sure one of the paintings or something could go get the others… Or I could just tell them, because I do want to at least change. I mean…I don’t want to wear jeans and a plain old shirt to marry you…” she trailed off to see what he had to say but he took too long to respond for her liking.

“I wanted to give you a huge wedding,” he finally said. “I want you to have your dress and flowers and the whole nine yards. I wanted to give you everything, but now… I don’t have time to put it together in hours,” he emphasized. Emily smiled at him, taking his hand in hers and kissing his palm lightly.

“All I want is you…for as long as I can have you,” she whispered. Draco pulled her to him tightly, molding her to his body as he kissed her bare shoulder, where her shirt sleeve had slid off slightly.

“I’ll stop it, Ems. I swear I’ll stop it,” he said in a choked whisper.

“You won’t be able to, love,” she whispered evenly as she clung to him.

“I have to try,” Draco declared.

Okay, so you're going to get another apology! I'm sorry! So much stuff to do = Story gets pushed back and back and back until it gets deactivated!

A B C D E F G…

Alicia looked up, frowning, as the alphabet sounded round Emily’s head. She narrowed her eyes at her, trying to hear round the letters as she said something about skipping dinner. The letters made another appearance as Emily pulled Draco out of the room. She waited, thinking that Emily would drop the cover up but all she heard was numbers.

What the hell was that about?” Jamie said, his eyes still on the doors while he continued to shovel in baked potato.

I have no idea,” Alicia said, dropping her knife and fork and crossing her arms. The others stared at her. “She was keeping me out… Thinking about the alphabet and numbers,” she said, shaking her head. “I thought she was turning simple on me.

Well, try to find her,” Jamie said, pausing in his eating. Alicia raised an eyebrow at him while her hair flashed black.

I can’t find her,” she snapped angrily before she bit her lip. Jamie patted her leg with a small smile. “It’s like they’ve vanished.

Well, hopefully they’ll find us later and explain themselves,” Hermione said, lowering her glass. Ron shrugged, his mouth too full to say anything, making Harry start to laugh.

Shut up,” Alicia snapped, standing up. Harry choked to a stop under her glare. “I’m going to bed- don’t follow me, Hermione,” she ordered as she stepped away from the table.

Night,” Jamie said, catching her hand and kissing it. Anger flashed in Alicia’s eyes briefly as she ignored him and marched from the room.

As she reached the dorm, she locked the door with a flick of her fingers and another flick turned the lights off. She curled up in the middle of her bed, pulling the curtains shut tightly.

Why is it always me?” she whispered into the darkness. She summoned a candle and lit it with a finger. Its light spluttered and fell onto a silver photo frame which had ‘FAMILY <3’ engraved into the metalwork. The spaces for two photos were already filled- one with a Muggle photo of her family and the other was a Wizarding photo of Emily, Draco, Jamie, Firenze and her out by the Lake. She had jumped onto Emily’s back in an attempt to tickle her while Draco and Jamie cried with laughter and Firenze stood, shaking his head. She smiled slightly at the love seeping out of both images.

Pain shot through her head, making her gasp and bury her face into the pillows. She dropped the candle onto the floor and it went out with a quiet sizzle. The pain continued to burn through her head as a voice sounded in her ears.

They don’t love you anymore, Alicia, because of your choices... You saw how fast Firenze left earlier.

Go. Away,” she said through clenched teeth. “They. Still. Love. Me.” The pain lifted as her voice cut into the darkness. “It’s you they hate, not me! I know what you’re doing- I can feel the hatred for them burn through me by just thinking their names!” Her voice grew louder, more braver, as she continued. “And it won’t work- my love for them will always be here, it’s making me stronger day by day.

Only fools allow themselves to believe in love, Voldemort’s voice whispered.

Well, call me a fool then!” Alicia said angrily. “I know that love is the only way to beat you- so I’m never going to give up, no matter how hard you try!

I have seen your nightmare, Alicia- of the tombstone-

You stay away from her!” Alicia shouted, kneeling and glaring into the dark folds of the curtains. “I’m going to get rid of you and change that! Even if it has to change to my name- you won’t come near her.” Her voice had gone deadly. “Oh, and if you haven’t guessed, I want you out of my head- right now!” Alicia imagined pushing him away from her and felt pain rip through her head again. She screamed, gripping her black hair in her fists.

Alicia?” Emily’s voice sounded nervous as it followed a quiet tap. Alicia unclenched her teeth and screamed again, hearing the handle rattle. “Alicia! Alicia, open the door!” Alicia couldn’t move- the feeling of something trying to tear itself away from her getting worse. “Ali! I’m coming in!” Emily’s frantic words were followed by a bang and footsteps before her hand was on Alicia’s back as she rocked backwards and forwards, her arms over her head as her grey hair fell across her face, blocking her tears from view. “What is it? Whatever it is, it’ll be okay, I’m here... Come on, sis,” she said, trying to get her to talk. She repositioned herself on the bed and her foot nudged the fallen candle.

Alicia froze as she bent to pick it up, holding her breath. As Emily’s skin made contact with the sea foam green wax pillar, it sparked and relit. Alicia sniffed as the warmth of the flame washed over her.

Emily...” she whispered, her hair a light blue color.

I’m here... What happened?” Emily asked, setting the candle down in front of the photo frame and pulling Alicia’s arms down as she shook her head.

I knew it was his weakness- I knew how to change what I did... But I ignored it, too worried about you and Jamie and the others- but I had to... He was trying to change my feelings- it hurt,” Alicia barely breathed the last two words, reminding Emily of a vulnerable child for a short second before Alicia took a deep breath and continued in a stronger voice. “I used your love to take back what I did. I’d rather take the longer route than the easier option and lose you.

Look at me” Emily started, feeling slightly confused with her mumbling. As Alicia raised her head, she flicked her hand and they were both blinded by the sudden light. As Emily’s eyes adjusted, she gasped. “Your eyes,” she said, raising a hand as if to touch Alicia’s face. “They’re back to normal!

That candle... it won’t burn out or go out or whatever until- until we’re no longer classed as sisters... There’s a red one in my trunk- you need to light it and then blow it out,” Alicia said quickly, diverting the conversation from her eyes. Emily summoned it and did as she said, handing it to Alicia, making it relight like the other one. “Now you can watch over me.

Are these candles another way to see if one of us gets hurt?” Emily asked, placing the candle on her bedside table.

Sort of...” Alicia said, smiling impishly. “Anyway, didn’t you want to tell me why you decided to skip out on the food and show me a ring?

You know, sometimes I hate you... Why can’t I surprise you at least once?” Emily grumbled, making Alicia laugh as her hair turned scarlet.

One, you love me too much... Two, I’m a super cool mind reader,” Alicia said, receiving a pillow in the face.

It’s good to have you back to normal,” Emily said, hugging her tightly.

It’s good to be back to what is my normal,” Alicia laughed lightly, grabbing another pillow.

“Now, come on, and help me pick out a dress,” Emily said with a grin as she made her way to her wardrobe. She opened the door slowly as Alicia came to stand beside her.

“Why now?” Alicia asked quietly. Emily knew Alicia could read her thoughts, but answered anyway.

“You’re not going to be able to stop it from happening, Ali. Your visions are never wrong,” Emily said quietly. “And Draco and I want to have everything we can have together before it gets taken away.”

“Ems—”

“Don’t, Ali. You can’t change it—no matter what you do or try. It’s set in stone, and we all need to accept that, understood?” Emily said firmly as she tugged on a simple white dress that Draco had always loved on her. She made her way to the bathroom to get ready as Alicia stood there, slightly upset.

*

“Re-Remus!” Draco squeaked as he watched his ex-professor come through the entrance to the Headmaster’s office. He dreaded this part.

“Ah, Draco, I think we need to have a little chat,” Remus said with narrowed eyes. Draco quickly looked towards the Headmaster for help, but the man just sat there with a wistful smile and a twinkle in his eye. “Albus,” Remus said in acknowledgement as he inclined his head. “Thanks for contacting me.”

“Now, Draco… Why are you marrying my Goddaughter tonight?” Remus asked bluntly while trying to hold back his growl of anger. He had come to like Draco immensely, especially when it came to his Goddaughter, but, right now, he couldn’t help but not like the kid.

“We-well, I l-love her,” Draco stuttered.

"You're too young!"

The door to the office opened again to reveal Emily, Alicia, Jamie, and the others. Draco sighed in relief as Emily squealed.

“Rems!” she said as she jumped at him, hugging him tightly. “I missed you!”

“I missed you, too, Ems,” Remus chuckled. “Now, will you please explain to me why the two of you are not waiting?” he said pointedly as he looked between Emily and Draco.

Emily smiled impishly as she went to sit on top of Draco’s lap. Remus glared at the two of them as the others stayed quietly by the door while Dumbledore sat behind his desk in amusement.

Quietly, “You might want to sit down,” Emily said as she grabbed Draco’s hand. He squeezed her fingers reassuringly as she went to grab Remus’s hand with her other. “Ali had a vision,” she began.

“Of you getting married?” Remus interrupted angrily. Emily shook her head with a sad smile.

“If only,” she said as Draco went rigid beneath her. “She had a vision of my gravestone, Remus. The date on the headstone was today’s date, except we didn’t get to see the year… But as today is almost over, I assume it won’t be until next year or the year after. The point is that we know I’m going to die…” Emily held her breath as Remus just stared at her, his grip on her hand slackening.

“What?” Remus breathed. “No.”

“Remus, really, we all—” Emily began quickly.

“Don’t you dare tell me to accept it! To understand!” he yelled suddenly. “Alicia!” he shouted as he turned his glare on her. “Is she telling the truth? Did you really see…see…” Alicia nodded silently as tears slid down her cheeks.

“Damn it!” Remus threw his head in his hands as he started muttering about protecting her and promising Sirius and Amelia.

“Remus, you’ve done everything and more. There’s nothing you can do to stop it this time,” Emily whispered.

“M-maybe it’s not supposed to be for seventy years,” Remus said hopefully as he glanced back at Alicia.

“It’s doubtful, Rems… Besides, instead of wallowing from this…news, let’s be happy; live life as if nothing has happened, and make every second count.” Emily said this to everybody in the room as she glanced at Alicia and Draco before looking back at Remus. “And that’s what we’re doing, Remus. We’re making every second count.”

“So,” she continued, “if you haven’t put it together, Draco and I want to do everything we can together before it gets taken away.”

“Okay,” Remus whispered as he ran a hand through his shaggy hair. “Okay, so, let’s say I let you get married, what about school? Where will you stay?”

Emily and Draco glanced at each other for a moment before Draco answered. “We’d still go to school normally. As for where we’re staying, we hadn’t really thought about it,” he replied quietly.

“Oh, and I’d like to put in that even if you didn’t give us permission, we’d still do it,” Emily replied with a raised brow. Remus narrowed his eyes at her and she glared back.

Dumbledore coughed lightly to get their attention and everyone stared at him. “They can stay in one of the guests’ quarters.” Dumbledore smiled at them as Emily beamed.

“Albus, I don’t—” Remus started.

“Remus John Lupin, can I speak to you alone for a minute please?” Emily grabbed his arm and dragged him to the far corner of the room, away from the others.

“Stop acting like you’re going to die tomorrow!” he ordered.

“Stop acting like I’m living forever!” she countered.

Remus’s eyes widened as he rubbed a hand over his face. “What do you want me to say, Ems? That I’m okay with this? That I accept what’s supposed to happen? Because I can’t.”

“I just want you to be happy for me. And I want you to give me away,”
she whispered.

“Ems, I—”

“Just say yes, Daddy,” she said. He let out a gust of air as he pulled her into a hug.

“Yes.”

Emily hugged him tightly before pulling back and tugging him back toward the rest of the group. “So, now that that’s settled… Ali, Jamie, can Draco and I talk to the two of you for a second?” Emily asked innocently as Draco joined her side.

Alicia cracked a grin and Emily sighed. She never could surprise Alicia.

“You know, days like these are days I wish you weren’t a mind-reader, Ali,” Emily said bad moodily. Jamie and Draco chuckled as Alicia’s grin widened.

“Go ahead and ask Jamie, Draco; Alicia already knows, and I assume she accepts?” Emily said.

“Duh!” Alicia laughed as she threw her arms around Emily’s neck.

“Will you be the Best Man?” Draco asked Jamie somewhat awkwardly.

“Of course, mate,” Jamie smiled as he clapped Draco on the back.

“Shall we?” Emily whispered as they all broke apart.

“Yes,” Draco whispered back as he pulled her into a hug.

“Professor, do you think we could do this outside, down by the lake?” Emily asked timidly as she looked away from Draco. She felt him smile against her hair as she bit her bottom lip.

“Of course, Miss Black, I already had Miss Tonks and Professor McGonagall set up everything,” he answered with a smile.

“B-but, how did you know?” she asked as her smile faltered. Dumbledore just smiled at her, not bothering to answer and she sighed. As they got to the bottom of the stairs, Draco kissed her forehead and walked ahead of her with the rest of the males. The females and Remus lagged behind to give them a head start.

“So, why did you want to do it by the lake?” Remus asked as he threw his arm over her shoulders.

“It’s where Draco and I officially met,” she answered nonchalantly.

*

“C’mon, I want to dance,” Emily said as she pulled on Draco’s hand from where they sat by the lake. Everyone was talking quietly as they enjoyed the beautiful night, looking up at the bright stars, one brighter than all the others.

Draco sighed as he let her pull him under a tree. She encircled her arms around his neck as he pulled her closer.

“I’d follow you anywhere, you know,” he whispered as he lightly kissed her forehead. Emily smiled slightly as she blushed before she went completely rigid.

“No,” she choked out. “No, you can’t,” she said as tears welled up in her eyes.

“Shh, shh, don’t cry, love.” Draco kissed her lips lightly as he wiped at her cheeks. “You said the same to me, back at Alicia’s house,” he reminded her.

“Yeah, but—but, that was different,” she stuttered.

“How so?” he chuckled.

“It just was!”

“My life is nothing and was nothing without you in it. So, when you leave it, it will once again be nothing. It only makes sense to join you,” he said logically. Emily tucked her head into his shoulder as she clutched him closer to her.

“As much as I love you guys, it’s getting late, and I wanted to get some studying done,” Hermione announced as she went to hug the newly married couple.

Emily quickly wiped her eyes on Draco’s shirt before turning to face her friends. Draco and Emily agreed, so everyone trudged back up to the castle. Everyone went to their rooms, Emily and Draco to their new room. And though they were tired, they both knew the night was far from over on their part.

Emily and Draco are happy, right?” Harry asked as he changed behind the dark curtains round his bed. Alicia, still wearing her golden dress from earlier, sighed and leaned back against Jamie’s bed.

Yes- and if you ask me that one more time, I will knock your lights out,” she said, smiling innocently.

Ooh, a physical threat!” Jamie laughed as Harry pretended to lock his lips.

All right... What’s next on the list, then?” Ron said in a strange tone that was almost sarcastic. Alicia spun to glare at him.

What list?” Harry asked, frowning as Jamie glanced from Alicia to Ron.

The Emily’s going to die so let’s keep her happy list.” Ron’s voice had turned bitter, making Alicia rise slowly.

It’s not like that,” she whispered in a deadly voice. “And don’t say that- it won’t happen.

’Course it won’t, O’ Fearless One. So what is it like then?” Ron shot back at her and her eyes turned into dark red slits.

Ron,” Jamie said, his voice holding a warning, which he ignored.

We all know that your visions are never wrong! This time, you can’t stop it because you don’t know when it will happen exactly!” Ron stood up and met Alicia in the center of the room, his voice loud enough to draw Hermione up the stairs.

What is going on?” she said as she stepped into the room to see Alicia send Ron flying across the room, where he hit a wall and slid down it before scrambling to his feet, drawing his wand.

If you ever talk to me again, Weasley, I will kill you” Alicia threatened and Hermione’s jaw dropped.

Alicia! That’s not funny!” she said, running to Ron.

Do you see me laughing?” Alicia said in a deadly voice. “Tomorrow, I want you all to meet me in the Room of Requirement at seven. I’ll get word to Emily and Draco. Do not make me hunt you down.” She stormed out of the room and Hermione turned towards Jamie.

Don’t- I have no idea, either,” he said, shaking his head.

***

The next day, Alicia walked towards the guest quarters with a large white bag, ignoring the whistles and glances from the passing students.

I need to get inside, it’s important,” she said to the portrait guarding the entrance. He looked down his upturned nose at her as he starched his chin with his quill.

I’m afraid I cannot let you pass without permission,” he said in a nasal squeak of a voice.

Emily’s my sister! Look, it’s really important and it will only be this once,” Alicia said and he pursed his lips.

Only this once,” he repeated, waving with his quill and swinging forwards. She thanked him and walked into the living room, putting the bag onto the table in front of the fireplace.

EMILY JAME REMUS AMELIA SIRIUS MALFOY! GET YOUR BUTT DOWN THESE STAIRS THIS INSTANT!” she shouted up the stairs, grinning when she heard the startled squeak. “AND YOU CAN DRAG YOUR BUTT DOWN HERE TOO, DRACO!” She moved towards the kitchen and got a glass of water as the two newlyweds came down the stairs, both wrapped in robes.

Alicia? What are you doing here?” Draco asked, rubbing his eyes.

How did you get in is a better question.” Emily frowned, stifling a yawn. Alicia just laughed as she came out to meet them. “Wow,” Emily said, her eyes wide as she saw what Alicia was wearing.

What? Oh, right... The outfit,” Alicia said, glancing down. “Don’t worry, that’s for you,” she said, pointing towards the bag, which Emily eyed carefully.

Explain... This,” Emily said, sweeping a hand through the air at the tight black leather shorts and tight black leather tank top Alicia was wearing. Her legs were incased in tight black leather high heeled boots that came to her knees. Round her waist was a scarlet utility belt that was empty.

Well, I decided that since we’re going to fight, we may as well dress for the part,” Alicia grinned, dragging them both to the couch and pushing the bag into Emily’s arms.

Wait- fight?” Draco said as Emily peeked into the bag.

Oh yeah... See, I had a vision yesterday of us all fighting the bad guys, slightly hampered by what we were wearing. So, I’ve decided that we’re going to be ready for anything,” Alicia said, grinning at Emily as she pulled out something leather too.

And you didn’t say anything then because?” Emily asked as Draco smirked at the innocent smile on Alicia’s face.

I wasn’t really in the mood to totally freak out a wedding party... Especially after the vicar or whatever he was had just said if anyone has any objections, speak now or forever hold your peace... I wasn’t going to say I do... I can see the future and I’ve already seen the Bride’s tombstone and now I’ve just seen a great battle raging and we’re losing because of our clothes,” she said and Draco busted up into laughter.

Well, I’m glad you didn’t, then,” Emily said slowly. “So, do I have to wear this all the time?

No- just for today... I spoke to Dumbledore and he said that it was okay if it would help us in the future and I want you two to help me convince the others that this is a good thing.” Draco sobered up immediately as Alicia pulled several more white bags from thin air. “I didn’t know what size to get so I got every size...” she explained, shoving the bags towards Draco. “The two of you can wear these at seven at the Room of Requirement? I’ll love you forever and ever and ever!

Haha, in my defense it was Ali that had the vision, so murder Abi figuratively!

Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying it!

Draco glared at Alicia’s back as she left their quarters, and then he turned to Emily, who was fighting a smile and failing miserably at it.

“I am not wearing these skinny jeans,” he said defiantly.

“Alicia will kill you,” Emily sang in amusement.

“Are you saying I can’t defend myself properly?”

Well,”
she murmured teasingly from the fridge and he narrowed his eyes as he sidled up beside her.

“You didn’t have any complaints about my, er, skills last night,” he smirked and Emily choked on her grape juice.

Draco started laughing uproariously as he wiped the juice from her chin with his thumb.

“That’s not funny,” she frowned. “You did that on purpose, waiting until I had a good mouthful of juice,” she accused.

“Did not,” he countered.

“I don’t believe you,” she continued.

“And you’re still not denying my statement,” he answered with another smirk. Emily raised a brow in his direction as she took another tentative sip of her juice, watching him warily. She gulped it down, and when he started saying something, she quickly covered his mouth with her hand. When she finished her drink, she removed her hand and he chuckled.

“Since you don’t have much faith in my skills, how about a repeat performance to remind you?” he said suggestively with the waggle of his eyebrows.

Emily bit her bottom lip as she looked him over before shaking her head. “You need to have a conversation with Sir Edgar Stroulger, and tell him not to let anyone in unless we give him permission to let them in. And make sure you tell him who can come in—Just Alicia, Jamie, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, and Harry,” she told him. “Unless you want Parkinson to find you so you can show her your skills.” Emily smirked at his look of disgust. “Kidding, love. You’re mine. Now go,” she ushered him toward the portrait.

“And after I do that?” he asked suggestively and she shook her head with a grin.

“After that, I need a shower,” she said as she made her way back up the stairs to their room and connecting bathroom, throwing a wink over her shoulder to him.

*

“Stop fidgeting; you look great,” Emily chastised to a squirming Draco. He was wearing black skinny jeans and a black tank top. His blonde hair fell into his eyes messily and Emily had to fight the urge not to jump him where he sat. Alicia rolled her eyes in Emily’s direction and she blushed, knowing she could hear everything going through her head.

“You’re biased,” Draco muttered.

“That’s debatable, but regardless, Draco, you’re absolutely sexy right now,” Emily said seriously. Draco sent her an arched eyebrow and a smirk only Draco Malfoy could pull off. Emily blushed as she turned her attention back to her breakfast.

Draco reached across the table to where Emily’s hand sat and laced his right hand with her left, his thumb lightly brushing across her wedding band absently. Emily blushed a deeper shade of red as he kissed her palm.

“Honestly, you’re acting as if you just started dating. Why do you keep blushing?” Jamie asked in amusement, which only made Emily blush more.

“I assume it has something to do with last night,” Harry answered with his own little smirk. Emily avoided everyone’s gaze as she hastily drew her hand away from Draco’s, turning her full attention to her scrambled eggs and waffles. She chanced a glance at Draco, who was silently laughing at her, an amusing twinkle in his eye.

Emily huffed, glaring at the blonde in irritation. “We’ll see if you get any tonight,” she muttered, causing everyone around them to laugh except for the husband in question.

“Can’t wait until you see Remus; then we’ll see who’s blushing,” she said confidently and he shot her a horrified glare. She smiled devilishly as she threw her bag over her shoulder and stood from the table, making her way to their first class of the day, the others following behind her.

Draco watched after his wife, admiring the tightness of the leather pants she wore and the very nice, form fitting leather tank top that wrapped snugly around her upper half. Maybe these outfits aren’t so bad after all, he thought with a grin as he caught up with her, throwing his arm over her shoulder and a glare at any male who dared look her way.

“Maybe you should wear this outfit every day,” Draco whispered hopefully in her ear. Emily shivered before turning to look at him with a half grin.

“As much as jealousy is adorable on you, I don’t fancy having everybody stare at me every day,” Emily answered as she wrapped her arm around his waist.

“I am not jealous,” Draco cried incredulously.

Right, then you don’t care that I’ve had numerous males come up and ask me out, telling me to ditch my new husband?” She felt Draco’s hand clench around her shoulder and saw his jaw twitch.

“Who asked you out?” he asked.

“Doesn’t matter,” she replied airily.

“Then you won’t mind telling me,” he shot back.

“Why? So you can go hex them? I’d rather not.” Draco muttered something under his breath and Emily chuckled quietly.

“What are we doing tonight?” Emily asked Alicia as they entered the classroom and sat down in one of the rows, waiting for class to begin.

Tag, Abi!

Alicia skipped out of the room, ignoring the glare she could feel on her back, and waved at the portrait.

Thanks!” she called as she moved through the crowd that was heading towards breakfast. Several people double glanced as she past, the male population whistling, running their eyes over the leather and the female half glaring. Jamie was waiting outside the Hall, leaning against the wall. “I see you got my present, then,” she called as she drew closer, making him start and slide down the wall a little. Her eyes travelled over the black skinny jeans and black short sleeved shirt, a small smile appearing on her face.

What are you wearing?” Jamie asked as Alicia skipped up to him. He shot a glare over his shoulder at a seventh year Hufflepuff, who hurried into the Hall. She kissed his cheek and swept his hair to the right, letting her see his blue eyes.

You like it?” she asked, giggling as she spun. He pretended to think about it but she already knew his answer.

Like it? I think it’s amazing,” he said, pulling her closer. Her hair turned blonde as she smiled against his lips.

Wait till I tell Alicia you’re cheating,” Harry’s voice said from behind them and Alicia laughed, turning round. “Hey… Um, nice outfit.

Thank you… We can go inside, they won’t mind… We’ll save them seats,” Alicia said, linking her arm through Jamie’s and grabbing Hermione’s hand. “Oh, sorry about yesterday, Ron,” she said over her shoulder and the red head smiled as whistles filled the air.

I have a feeling that I don’t want to know the answer, but why are you wearing that?” Hermione said as they slid onto the benches. Alicia put her bag on the seat next to her and Jamie’s bag opposite it, saving them for Emily and Draco.

I’ll explain that tonight… Remember, seven, Room of Requirement,” she said, lowering her voice. “And, don’t worry; you’ve all got an outfit too.

Now, I’m scared,” Ron muttered and Alicia laughed.

There they are!” she said, waving a hand in the air. Whistles sounded again as Emily walked towards them, her hand interlaced with Draco’s, who shot Jamie a loaded look as he sat next to Alicia.

Stop fidgeting; you look great,” Emily said as Draco squirmed again. Alicia picked up on the thoughts running through her head and rolled her eyes, making Emily blush.

You’re biased,” Draco muttered, making Alicia chuckle.

That’s debatable, but regardless, Draco, you’re absolutely sexy right now,” Emily said seriously. Draco sent her an arched eyebrow and a smirk. Emily blushed as she turned her attention back to her breakfast.

Honestly, you’re acting as if you just started dating. Why do you keep blushing?” Jamie asked in amusement, which only made Emily blush more.

I assume it has something to do with last night,” Harry answered with his own little smirk, making Draco start laughing quietly as Emily pulled her hand away from his.

Emily huffed, glaring at the blonde in irritation. “We’ll see if you get any tonight,” she muttered, causing everyone around them to laugh except for Draco. “Can’t wait until you see Remus; then we’ll see who’s blushing,” she said confidently and he shot her a horrified glare. She smiled devilishly as she threw her bag over her shoulder and stood from the table, making her way to their first class of the day, the others following behind her.

Draco caught up with Emily, throwing his arm over her shoulder and a glare at any male who dared look her way. Alicia skipped forwards, getting in front of them and turning to walk backwards so that she could grin at them.

Maybe you should where this outfit every day,” Draco whispered hopefully in Emily’s ear, ignoring Alicia.

As much as jealousy is adorable on you, I don’t fancy having everybody stare at me every day,” Emily answered as she wrapped her arm around his waist.

I am not jealous,” Draco cried incredulously.

Right, then you don’t care that I’ve had numerous males come up and ask me out, telling me to ditch my new husband?” She felt Draco’s hand clench around her shoulder and saw his jaw twitch. Alicia laughed loudly at the look on his face.

Who asked you out?” he asked in irritation.

Doesn’t matter,” she replied airily, watching as Alicia walked through the doorway backwards.

Then you won’t mind telling me,” he shot back.

Why? So you can go hex them? I’d rather not.” Draco muttered something under his breath and Emily chuckled quietly. “What are we doing tonight?” Emily asked Alicia as they sat down in one of the rows, waiting for class to begin.

First, can I say that between the two of you, I know way too much than I should,” she said, turning her chair round so that her arms rested against the back. Emily blushed again and she ignored it. “Second, when we were in the DA, we only focused on mastering the spells- we need to be able to work together, as a team, otherwise we’ll end up hitting each other.

We’re going to get team work lessons?” Jamie asked, raising an eyebrow at her.

You have a problem with that?” she said absently, digging through her bag for something.

Sort of- where do the outfits come into it again?” he asked and Alicia shot him a blinding smile.

Well, first, they’re practical- won’t hinder us when we’re fighting… Second, I like you in skinny jeans.” She squeezed his knee affectionately.

Third, you like the attention the leather is giving you,” Emily said quietly, low enough that Jamie couldn’t hear.

Not with everyone, but from Jamie? Obviously,” she retorted and Emily laughed at the innocent look on her face. “Here comes McGonagall in three- two- one,” she said, her voice returning to its normal volume.

Sorry for the long wait, chaps!

The day continued normally, apart from the outfits and the whistling that surrounded the halls they walked through, but even then, the attention was normal for Emily and Draco. They were even used to the glares they received from half of the Hogwarts population, namely the females. Teachers quirked their eyebrows, but didn’t question it; they must have already talked to the Headmaster.

Draco and Emily were still in their post-newlywed bliss, though Draco was more forward about it. Emily decided to play shy when in front of everyone else, though Draco knew she was far from shy when they were alone. He found it amusing, nonetheless.

He took to pulling her behind tapestries during class change and thoroughly snogging her senseless until she couldn’t form a single, coherent thought.

They were in the middle of one of these said snogging sessions at the moment, deciding to be late to lunch in favor of being together.

Emily’s fingers ran up Draco’s chest, around his shoulders, and speared into his hair. Draco hiked her legs up and over his waist as his hands found purchase on her waist. Emily wrenched away from his mouth, gasping for breath as he buried his face in her messy curls.

“I’d ask you to marry me, but you already have,” he panted against her neck.

She chuckled breathlessly.

“I’d say yes, regardless,” she said as she nudged his cheek with her nose, obviously ready for round two.

He pulled back to rest his forehead heavily against hers, his eyes twinkling.

“Marry me,” he whispered.

“No,” she answered seriously.

He scowled while she giggled.

“Kidding,” she assured with another giggle and a chaste kiss to his lips.

“If you won’t marry me, will you at least join in on some debauchery before class?” he asked with a smirk, and her eyes lit up as his darkened to smoldering silver.

“I’ve already married you, but I do believe our bedroom is being neglected as we speak… Shall we do something about that?” she asked with a secret smile.

He growled adorably as he let her slide down his body and stand. He straightened her leather blouse and then grabbed her hand, dragging her quickly to their rooms with a possessive look in his eyes.

*

They arrived near the end of lunch, only just able to grab a bite to eat before hurrying out of the Great Hall to their next class. Everyone seemed to be laughing at them as Draco fixed one of her curls while she sported an innocent, sheepish expression.

Alicia wrinkled her nose at their less than innocent thoughts as Jamie and Harry snickered openly. Ron looked mildly disgusted as Hermione remained nonchalant, her nose stuck in a book.

Draco had seemingly been switched to all of Emily’s classes, and she had a feeling that Remus had intervened on Draco’s behalf when he became targeted by all Slytherins. So, when he had moved into the rooms with Emily, his schedule had changed, too.

“Why are we even showing up to this class?” Draco complained as they walked down the halls to Professor Binns’s classroom. “It’s not like he’ll notice or we’ll learn anything. Hey, I know what we could do,” Draco suddenly whispered in Emily's ear.

Emily shoved away from him.

“Not in front of people,” she hissed.

Draco chuckled as she glared at him, but she still allowed him to pull her closer into his side.

“They all know we did it anyway,” he purred as he nipped at her earlobe. Emily shivered as she turned to give him a look.

“We have to prepare for NEWTS, Draco, which requires our attendance to class,” she told him in a no nonsense manner.

“Merlin, you sound like ‘Mione,” he told her with the roll of his eyes.

“Hey!” the girl in question rounded on him and Draco sent her an innocent look.

“Be nice, or you’re sleeping on the couch,” Emily told him.

*

“Here you go, love,” Draco said with an affectionate smile as he placed a grilled chicken sandwich, a bowl of strawberries, and a glass of sweet tea on the desk in front of her.

They were in the Room of Requirement, waiting for the others to arrive. Draco had caused them to miss dinner because of his wandering hands and persuasive tone.

And Emily was exhausted, to say the least. Draco kissed her forehead as he stole a strawberry, and he knew that if she wasn’t so tired, she would have hexed him for even attempting to take a strawberry, much less succeed at it.

He moved behind her and massaged her shoulders as she ate.

“You’re going to be the death of me,” she muttered as he kissed the spot behind her ear.

“What a lovely way to go,” he whispered after a moment’s silence.

“Wrong choice of words,” she said apologetically when she noticed his silence.

“It’s okay,” he said quietly as he continued massaging her shoulders.

They hadn’t talked about the inevitable fate since their wedding, and Emily didn’t want to begin now.

She finished eating minutes later and Draco pulled her over to the couch that was on the far wall. He pulled her down to his lap and she frowned at him.

“You can’t be serious!” she said incredulously. “You have got to be as tired as me! We’ve been going at it like rabbits, Draco!” she told him in complaint.

He laughed as he kissed her temple and tugged her closer to his chest, her head falling under his chin. “Mm, and I’m surely not tired, love, but I’m also not going to start something when our friends could burst through the door at any minute,” Draco said.

Emily sighed as she closed her eyes, only for them to fly open when the door opened, revealing their friends.

“We weren’t sure if you’d make it!” Ron told them with a mischievous smile. “You did miss dinner, so we thought you’d might be too, er, busy to show,” he grinned and Draco chuckled while Emily blushed profusely.

“Yeah, well, we’re here,” she said in a small voice. “Shall we get started?” she asked Alicia.

It's just a filler post, but a post nonetheless. Tag, Abi!

I'll be defying gravity April 29th!!!

Very lovely posts you two!
Not as sad which I like and full of the teasing which I absolutely love!
The leather outfits seem really entertaining... if you show it, I can't wait for Hermione and Ron to see each other (or Harry and Gin).
Fun chapters Love!
And if she dies... I don't care who came up with the idea or who writes it... you both will die in the figurative world... literally.

Yeah, well, we’re here,” Emily said, her voice giving her away even if the blush didn’t. “Shall we get started?

I’m thinking that getting started is a good idea,” Alicia said, giving Ron a look, which plainly said shut up or get hexed. “So, I said this was going to be about teamwork, because some people seem to get snarky in the future and we can’t work together, which means that it could bring the future forward, and that-

Is a very bad thing,” Emily finished, her voice quiet. The room fell into a second of awkward silence.

Exactly,” Alicia said, her voice sharp. “So, teamwork… You’re all thinking this is a waste of time, but I’m not really bothered about what you think. We need to do this- we need to be a team. The concept of teamwork is extremely important to the success of any team. Hopefully, we can look at each other and not just see Emily or Ron, but see a part of us in that person- making us a team.” She glanced round, her gaze lingering on Jamie for half a second. “We have to work as a unit- one brain that can see every angle or answer in seven different ways. A good team can work together with a little amount of effort- a great team can put any selfishness in a cardboard box packed with polystyrene peanuts and leave it there. Teamwork and unselfishness are the core to a team, without them, we’d just be seven teenagers trying to fight. We’re some of the smartest students in our year.” Her eyes locked first on Hermione and then on Emily. “But if we can’t work together, we won’t be successful in our objective. I’ve done a minuscule amount of research into the matter and I know what to look for in a great team…” She turned and walked slowly away from them, across to the other side of the room.

Alicia…” Jamie began, his tone hard to read. She shook her head at him very slightly and he pulled a face. “Never mind.

Do we have a goal that we created as a team?” she said, carrying on as if Jamie hadn’t spoken.

We’ve got two,” Draco said immediately. “Keeping Emily safe and fighting whatever we’re going to up against.

Right… But, no offense, Emily should be the second thing on that list,” Alicia said, shooting Emily a quick smile. “We’re fighting to try and keep Emily safe, so the fight is our top priority… Do we openly support and encourage one another?

I’m going to say yes,” Jamie said and Alicia’s eyes flickered to Ron for a half second.

We’ll need to do it more often… We have open communication with each other, so that’s okay… Is there mutual respect between us?

I hope so… Otherwise we’d probably hate each other,” Harry said and Alicia nodded once, moving on as she paced along the far wall.

We speak like we’re a team, saying ‘we’ and that… A positive team image?

If that involves more leather, no thanks,” Emily said, making everyone except Alicia laugh. She was able to crack a smile but that was it. “Sorry- yes, we’ve got a happy team over here.

Lastly, in a team, everybody has their own role… We should figure out what they should be, but not right now- team building first,” she said, stopping with a slight sigh. “There are seven main skills to teamwork: listening, sacrifice, sharing, communication, language, hard work and persuasion. Fairly simple really…

And that’s how roughly four hours passed, Alicia talking and the others listening. They only left when Jamie pointed out that Emily and Draco weren’t staying in the tower with them.

*

Jamie knew something was wrong but Alicia was purposely avoiding the subject, no matter how many times he let the thought cross his mind. He also knew that all this time she was spending talking about teamwork was for another reason than just fighting. A week later, he was starting to lose his patience, so he went to the only other two people who understood Alicia as much as him- Emily and Firenze.

Yes?” Sir Edgar Stroulger said, looking down at him as he hesitated outside.

Um… Is Emily in? I need to talk to her about something,” he said, rubbing his neck. The man studied him for a second before leaving out the side of his frame. He returned a few minutes later, resuming what he was doing before Jamie appeared as he swung inwards, revealing Emily standing behind him, a smile on her face.

Jamie? Come on in,” she said, motioning him inside. He shook his head, biting his lip. “What’s wrong?” she asked, a frown appearing on her face.

Can you come with me for a bit? I need to talk to you, about- about Alicia,” he said and she immediately stepped beside him, the portrait swinging shut behind her. “Sorry if I’ve interrupted anything… I’m starting to go crazy.

I was just doing some homework… What’s happened? Is everything okay? Has something happened to her?” Emily said quickly, walking beside him as they set off down the corridor.

Let’s talk when we’re there…” he said, glancing about nervously.

Jamie, what is it? You’re making me nervous,” she said, copying him.

Sorry… We’re going to see Firenze,” he said, and Emily’s frown deepened. They moved through the school in silence after that, Jamie glancing around as if he was afraid to be seen and Emily becoming more and more nervous. Jamie didn’t knock on the door to Classroom Eleven, just walking in and calling out for the centaur.

What a surprise- I did not expect to have visitors today,” he said, emerging from his quarters. “But where is Alicia? I rarely see you both without her.

I need to talk to you both about Alicia… She’s driving me crazy,” Jamie said, plunking down onto the grass and covering his face with his hands. Emily stared at him before swapping a confused look with Firenze and sitting beside Jamie, putting a hand on his arm. He lowered his hands, his eyes darting from her to Firenze as he spoke. “I know something’s wrong with her- all these meetings about teamwork are a cover for something- and it isn’t just fighting to try and save you,” he said, his gaze falling on Emily. “When she saw your grave… You remember what she was like- then she done that deal…” Jamie flinched at the memory.

You think she will agree to another deal with the Dark Lord?” Firenze said, freezing as he lowered himself to their level.

I don’t know… I feel like I don’t know her anymore. She’s hiding something and I don’t want to repeat what happened last time. She won’t even comment on my thoughts about it,” he said, bringing a knee up and leaning his chin on it.

That’s not like Alicia,” Emily said quietly. “It is a bit strange, all these meetings on teamwork, when we were a perfect team in the first place…

Exactly. She’s using these as a distraction for something, I’m sure of it.

Or, she is trying to solve the problem before it arises,” Firenze said, making Jamie shrug.

That does sound like Alicia… The only problem is she won’t talk- at all,” he said and Firenze frowned.

Emily, can you please go and find Alicia? I think it about time she stopped hiding,” he said and Emily left, throwing a worried look at Jamie.

ALICIA! WHERE ARE YOU? FIRENZE WANTS TO SEE YOU! She let the words echo round her head as she stood at the bottom of the staircase.

I’m in the owlery with America… Tell him I’m on my way. There’s no need to shout, by the way, was the reply she got. She turned and walked back into the classroom, a small frown etched onto her face.

She’s on her way- she’s in the owlery,” she said, dropping beside Jamie and taking his hand. He’d moved position, sitting with his legs crossed and his hands in his lap, twisting his fingers. “You know, when you knocked, the way you were looking around I thought you were going to proclaim your undying love for me,” Emily said in his ear, trying to make him loosen up. It worked. He started laughing, nudging her shoulder lightly.

Shame Draco beat me to you, then,” he said and she laughed as he cut off, thinking hard.

What now?” Emily sighed, watching him. “You know, it’s annoying when Alicia does that with a vision, I don’t need you doing it too.

Doing what?” Alicia’s voice asked as she opened the door. “Hey, I thought you were with Ron and Harry today? Pretending to do homework.

You are more important, young one,” Firenze said, motioning for her to join them. “Jamie has been worried about you.

I know he has,” she said, her eyes narrowing slightly as she stood ram rod straight, refusing to sit. Her hands balled into fists and then un-balled as her hair turned a silvery grey.

Is there a reason why he should be?” Emily asked, yanking on her hand and forcing her to sit.

Nope,” she said, far too quickly and happy.

Try again,” Emily said, glaring at her. Alicia’s smile vanished from her face, leaving a dark look. “That look won’t work either,” Emily said absently and that look vanished too, being replaced by an anxious one.

Like I said- nothing is wrong,” she said, running a hand nervously through her hair. “And if there was, you know I’d come straight to you three.

Well, you see, the last time you were like this, you let Voldemort into your head, caused Emily to self harm herself and then we discovered that you’d seen Emily’s tombstone,” Jamie said, ticking things off with his fingers. Alicia sent a glare in his direction but he returned it.

Fine!” she said, throwing her hands up. “Fine- and you won’t like what you hear, either!” She glared between Emily and Jamie before turning to look at Firenze. “Dumbledore’s going to die- murdered, actually.” There was three stunned and shocked gasps. “Not finished… Harry’s a witness; Death Eaters get into the school; we’re fighting them; Bill’s scarred really bad… What else? Oh yeah… Blaise decides to take a more, active approach with Emily and me and I’m not sure on the date for this one, so don’t quote me on anything, but Draco turns on us.” Her dark glare focused on Emily’s vacant face.

Ems is too bust with her finals, so I'm filling in for her :3

You’re—you’re wrong!” Emily choked out, staring at Alicia with wide eyes. Alicia continued glaring at her as Emily stood from her position on the floor. She could feel Jamie’s and Firenze’s eyes on her, but she continued looking at Alicia.

I thought my visions were never wrong?” Alicia challenged.

We-well, you are this time!” she spluttered. “Maybe somebody Polyjuiced him or something. Or-or maybe it was Lucius; they do look alike,” Emily exclaimed exasperatedly as she pleaded with Alicia to tell her that it wasn’t true.

Alicia made no more proclamations to relieve Emily’s anxiousness and terror; she just kept glaring at her. Emily took in great breaths in quick pants as she turned on her heels and ran.

Emily quickly took to the halls, weaving in and out of corridors and up staircases until she got to her and Draco’s rooms. Sir Edgar Stroulger admitted her and she climbed through, already searching for her blonde-headed husband.

She climbed the stairs that reached their bedroom and quickly spotted him on the bed with one of his texts.

Draco glanced up with a smile, before it faded off his face from one look at hers.

What’s wrong?” he asked immediately, snapping his book shut and scooting off the bed.

It’s not true—it can’t be true,” she chanted over and over as she collapsed in his arms, tears sliding down her fair face.

What can’t be true, love? Tell me what happened,” he said in a soothing voice as he tugged her toward the bed and they curled up on the silver duvet.

Do you love me?” she asked, ignoring his question and looking him dead in the eye with the most vulnerable expression he had ever seen cross over her face.

Of course; why would ever ask such a thing?” he asked, his eyebrows scrunched together in confusion and concern.

And—and you’re happy, right?” she whispered.

Yes, love,” he assured her.

You’d never change back, would you? You’d never change who you are now?” she asked so quietly, it was just a breath.

Never, Ems. I’d never go back; why are you asking this?” he inquired as he rubbed the tears from her cheeks. She just shook her head, burying her face in his neck as she clung to him.

Promise me,” she whispered shakily.
I…promise,” he told her as he rubbed soothing circles into her back.
Where is all of this coming from?” Draco asked after minutes of silence.

Nowhere in particular,” she answered after hesitating. She kissed his jugular and Adam’s apple before relaxing against him. “I love you,” she professed quietly.

I love you, too, Ems,” he whispered against her hair, kissing her curls lingeringly.

Can we skip practice tonight and just stay here, like this?” she asked, the neediness in her voice apparent.

Yes, of course, if that’s what you want,” he told her.

*

Draco shifted in bed, his hand reflexively reaching out for the warm body he knew would be beside him. His hand, instead, found cold sheets and he groaned as his eyes opened groggily. He glanced at the clock beside the bed and saw the time to be 4:30 AM.

Not again, he thought as he rolled out of the four poster and made for the bathroom. A sliver of light bled through the room, growing larger as Draco pushed the door open. He rubbed a tired hand over his face to get the sleep from his eyes as he met the eyes of his wife, looking up at him from the tiled floor, her forearm resting on the edge of the toilet. Her hair looked like a red haystack and there were dark purple shadows under her eyes that told him she hadn’t slept very much that night.

This is the third time this week, Emily,” he said seriously.

I—” she began before doubling over, over the toilet and retching. Draco lunged and caught her messy curls, pulling them together and wrapping an elastic band around them, which he pulled from the cabinet drawer beside them. He went to dampen a wash cloth, which he glided over the skin of her neck and forehead. She sat back against the side wall as she held the towel to her forehead, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand. He filled a glass with water and handed it to her before he flushed the toilet.

It’s just a bug,” she finished in a raspy voice. She winced from the sound and took another sip of water.

I’m taking you to see Madam Pomfrey in the morning,” he told her sternly.

There’s no need; it will pass over,” she told him.

He picked her up, cradling her in his arms as he took her back to bed, tucking her in gently. “Humor me,” he whispered as he kissed her forehead and then climbed in next to her.

*

C’mon,” Draco drawled as he pulled her out of the Portrait Hole and towards the Infirmary.

I don’t wanna,” Emily whined as she tried to pull him backwards to the Great Hall.

Tough,” he told her with a wink.

She bit her lip nervously, turning quiet as they reached the Hospital Wing. Draco opened the door for her and ushered her inside. He led her over to an empty bed, treating her as a porcelain doll. She sat on the edge of the bed, her legs folded in front of her as she wrung her hands together in her lap.

What can I do for you, Mr. Malfoy?” Madame Pomfrey asked as she bustled out of her office and around the ward.

Emily’s been spending the nights in our bathroom, retching… She thinks it’s just a bug, but I’d like to be sure,” Draco informed her.

Very well, why don’t you wait outside while I run some tests?” she told the Slytherin.

Why can’t I stay?” Draco asked worriedly.

It will be easier and faster without interruptions, Mr. Malfoy,” the Healer notified him.

Just do it, Draco,” Emily interceded before Draco could retort to the witch. He sighed as he slipped out of the doors and into the hall.

Mrs. Malfoy, why don’t you make yourself comfortable? I’ll just run a few tests and see where it gets us,” the witch told Emily.

Emily shook her head slowly, her cheeks beginning to tinge pink.

You’ll find you’ll only need to use one test to find the problem, Madame Pomfrey,” Emily whispered as tears gathered in her eyes. She wasn’t sure if they were tears of terror, fright, or happiness, but they continued to fall and they alerted the Healer immediately.

Everyone was in the Great Hall, piling sausages and eggs onto their plates, all except for one. Alicia was sitting there, staring at the sun glinting off her empty gold plate, her thoughts on her last vision.

Let it go,” Jamie said quietly, fighting Ron over a plate of bacon as he sat opposite her.

How am I supposed to do that?” she retorted just as quietly. “If you’d seen it…” Her words trailed away into silent brooding.

What’s the matter with you two?” Ginny asked, dropping into the empty seat next to Alicia, watching Jamie and the purpled haired girl.

Nothing… Have you seen Emily and Draco?” Jamie asked, grinning at his cousin.

I know there’s something wrong,” Ginny said stubbornly. Jamie gave her a withering look. “Don’t look at me like that!” His lip twitched and he threw a sausage at her, effectively shutting her up.

Emily and Draco?” he asked again, reaching for another sausage.

I saw them on the way to the Hospital Wing.” Alicia’s hair turned pure white. “No, no, no- I don’t think it’s like, serious,” Ginny said immediately. Alicia turned to look at the red head, complete terror in her eyes. Ginny went to say something but fumbled on the words.

Ali, I’m sure Emily’s fine,” Jamie said, forgetting his mountain of breakfast. Her hair turned sky blue as she slowly got to her feet. Without a word, she walked away from the table slowly, drawing a few eyes due to the tight leather tank top and trousers she was wearing. Jamie sighed, threw Ginny an unreadable look and then followed her.

Go back in the Hall,” she whispered as Jamie caught up, walking beside her. Jamie froze mid stride, frowning at her. “I’ll be okay. Go back in the Hall.” She ran a hand down his arm before watching him turn back. She moved quietly, her wide, emerald eyes flickering over everything. She found Draco pacing outside the Infirmary.

Alicia!” he said, grabbing his throat as he spun and found her watching him. “How did you- wait, wrong question…” he said, sighing as he continued pacing. Alicia didn’t say anything to him for a while.

You love Emily, don’t you?” she said in a quiet voice. As she spoke, their small part of the corridor fell silent. Draco froze and turned to look at her, a frown on his face.

Of course, I do,” he said, watching as she stared at him, standing statue- like.

And you’re happier being a part of our small family instead of what you were before?

Absolutely,” Draco said immediately. “Can you explain what all the questions are -

If you had the chance to turn back the clocks, what would you change?” she said, cutting him off.

I’d change how I acted to you and Jamie and Harry and Ron and Hermione. I’d change what I done to you in fourth year. I’d try to change fifth year, for Emily. Explain the questions!” he said, stepping forwards.

Would you change falling out with your family? Blaise?” Alicia said, ignoring him.

Never!” he said, a hint of anger in his face and voice. “Alicia-

Prove how much you’ve changed, Draco. Prove it to me,” she said, her eyes narrowing at him slightly as her hair darkened a shade.

I haven’t killed you or Harry yet, have I? I haven’t handed you both over to Voldemort… You, more than anyone, Alicia, knows what runs through my head.

I know… I just needed to hear it,” she said, relaxing and stepping up to the wall, which she slid down. “I’m wrong… I have to be. Nobody can just change overnight- especially like that.” Draco came over and sat next to her and she took his hand. “Sorry about freaking you out.

I’m used to it, don’t worry,” he said as she laughed, her hair turning scarlet. “So, what are you wrong about?

You know, I actually have no idea,” she said, and he laughed. “What’s wrong with Emily?

She’s been sick- a lot. Hopefully it’s just some sort of bug,” he said, shrugging.

She’s been sick how long?” she asked, a small smile on her face.

About three days or so… Always during the night- or early morning- why are you grinning like a mad woman?” he asked, turning to see her face.

Madam Pomfrey is coming…” she said, ignoring him.

Mr. Malfoy? Ah, there you are,” the matron said, cracking the door and spotting them. “And Miss Daniels… You can come back in now.” They both stood. Alicia rushed in but Draco stood still.

What’s wrong with her?” he asked and the woman shook her head.

I’ll let your wife explain,” she said, walking away as the sound of Alicia squealing met his ears.

So I'm not sure what's happened to Emily, but I have a strange feeling she's been kidnapped by Fairies...

Why won’t you tell me?” Draco demanded as they walked through the halls, back towards their rooms. Draco was carrying two bottles of potions that would help with her…symptoms.

Draco, please, you’re attracting attention. I’ll tell you when we get back to our rooms,” she told him nervously as she glanced around. Alicia laughed from beside her and Emily sent her a glare before smiling shyly.

I guess I’ll leave you two to it,” Alicia told them in amusement before heading back to the Great Hall to meet with Jamie.

Why couldn’t you just tell me in the Hospital Wing?” he asked moodily.

You-you’ll see,” she whispered.

Emily,” he said desperately. “You’re driving me insane. Just tell me.” He pouted while Emily laughed nervously, panicking as they reached Sir Edgar Stroulger. He admitted them and Emily immediately headed for their rooms, without glancing back to see if Draco followed her. He placed the potions on the dresser before crossing the room and joining Emily in the middle of the bed.

Er, lay down,” she decided. She bit her lip as he looked at her in confusion before doing as he was told. She straddled his stomach and he raised an eyebrow.

This is so you can’t leave,” she explained in a whisper.

Why would I leave?” he asked in concern. His thumbs rubbed soothing circles on her thighs and she closed her eyes, sighing as she prepared herself for the talk they were about to have.

Emily raised her wand, summoning something. Draco watched in suspicion as she caught the zooming orange objects. He realized belatedly that they were carrots.

Do you know what these are called?” she asked timidly as she held up the smaller carrot.

A carrot?” he asked in amusement. “What does this have to do with anything?

I’m getting to that,” she snapped. “What kind of carrot is it, Draco?

A baby carrot?” he asked and she nodded enthusiastically at his revelation.

Now, what is this one called?” she asked, holding up the other carrot.

Just a regular carrot,” he answered.

Right. And if you were to subtract the regular carrot from the baby carrot, what would you get?” she whispered.

Er, I don’t know; a baby?” he guessed.

She nodded slowly, looking at him expectantly. Just when he was about to ask what any of this had to do with anything, she grabbed his hands and gently placed them against her stomach.

He stared at her stomach for the longest amount of time before his eyes flickered back to hers, silently asking her. She nodded, and his eyes dropped back to her stomach. He lifted her shirt to expose the skin of her belly, and his hands caressed the skin there.

A baby,” he breathed.

His hands slipped up her body and around her throat to tangle into the hair at the nape of her neck. He gently tugged her forward on the bed, and she fell on top of him, his lips immediately finding hers.

I…love…you,” he said between kisses and she giggled while she kissed him back in relief. She wasn’t sure how he was going to take the news. He rolled them around until his body was pressing hers into their bed. He kissed his way down her throat as he scrunched her shirt back up. He littered kisses all over her stomach as she ran her hands through his hair, the carrots having flown out of her hands when he pulled her down, tears falling from her closed eyelids.

Her legs maneuvered to accommodate to him and he lay nestled between her legs, the side of his head lying over her stomach as he listened to her stomach gurgle.

How far along?” he whispered awhile later, still in the same position as before.

A couple weeks… S-since our wedding night actually,” she added.

I thought we used protection,” he questioned.

We did…except for the first time… We got caught up in our emotions, I think, that we kinda forgot,” she whispered guiltily.

Ah, that blessed first time,” he chuckled softly. “Definitely caught up in the moment.

Do you know the sex yet?” he asked excitedly, looking up at her as he rested his chin over her belly button.

Nope, Madame Pomfrey said it’s too soon to tell. He or she is just a blob of goo right now,” she said with a grin.

What do you think it is?” he asked her curiously.

A boy,” she decided after a moment’s contemplation.

Hmm, I think it’s a girl,” he said with a dazed look on his face, no doubt thinking about their future child.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see, huh?

Mhmm, should we pick out names now?” he asked suddenly.

You do realize we have a little over eight months, right?” she asked in amusement.

Yeah, well, I, er, just want to be ready,” he finished as a pink tint spread over his cheeks.

Sure, let’s pick out names,” she said with a gentle smile as she laced their hands together.

Okay, if it’s a girl, how about Derica?” he asked hopefully.

Draco!” she laughed. “That’s like saying, how about Emmanuel for a boy! How about we stay away from names that are similar to our own?” She giggled as he pouted.

Fine,” he grumbled. “What about Ariel?

Emily scrunched up her nose, thinking about the Mermaid from the Muggle movie. “That reminds me of Mermaids.” At his confusion, she explained about the Muggle movie and he laughed. “What about Aria instead?

I actually like that. Aria Derica Malfoy.

Draco!” Emily laughed as she shoved him off of her. He slid up the bed, chuckling as they both lay on their sides, facing each other.

Kidding, kidding,” he chortled. “Now, what about a boy?” he mused.

John?” she asked.

John?” he scoffed. “My son’s name will not be bland and boring, love,” he informed her.

Our son,” she corrected with an affectionate smile, which he returned. “Well, then you come up with something,” she told him, biting her lip as a certain thought ran through her mind.

He caressed her cheek and tucked an errant curl behind her ear. “What about Sirius?” he asked her softly, watching as he gauged her reaction.

Another tear slid down her cheek as she nodded absented-mindedly.

Yeah,” she croaked. “Thank you,” she whispered as she scooted closer, her nose brushing his as he swiped at her tears.

No thanks necessary, love. It’s the perfect name—if it’s a boy,” he said with a cocky grin and she laughed.

You mean because it’s a boy,” she smirked.

Get used to the idea of Aria, sweetheart,” he said confidently.

Draco…are you sure you’re okay with this?” Emily whispered.

More than okay,” he answered. “I love you and I’ll love our baby. I know it wasn’t planned, but I think we’ll still be great parents,” he whispered as he kissed her forehead.

You’re going to be an amazing father,” she breathed as the back of her hand caressed his cheek.

I’m scared,” he admitted and she smiled knowingly.

I won’t let you turn out like him,” she whispered and he nodded slowly.

Emily?” he whispered and she hummed her reply. “I don’t know if I can do any of this without you.” Draco stared at her pleadingly and her eyes filled with tears.

You might have to, Drake. Promise me. Promise me you’ll be there for this little one, no matter what happens to me. Promise me you won’t try to kill yourself when I die. Promise me!” she hysterically exclaimed.

He wiped at her tears gently with his thumb before tilting her head to give her a sweet kiss. “I’ll try my best,” he promised. She nodded mutely, thinking that that would have to do for the time being.

I guess we—we need to tell Remus, huh?” she whispered. Draco’s eyes turned to saucers at he stared at her.

Oh, bugger,” he breathed.

*

Would you please calm down? You’re starting to freak me out even more than I already am!” Emily huffed to her fidgeting husband.

Well, if you knew you were about to be killed by your wife’s Godfather, how would you feel?” he snapped back.

Draco and Emily walked down the narrow path to Hogsmeade, the bitter cold wind ready to blow them over, if they ever lose their balance. Draco wrung his hands nervously, thinking about all of what Remus would do to him.

It won’t be that bad,” Emily told him, trying to sound convincing and confident, but he saw right through it. “Besides, afterwards, we can go to that baby shop, down by Pudifoot’s. We can look around and get ideas, if you want,” she suggested as she looped her hand around his elbow.

He smiled momentarily, nodding, before he saw the sandy haired man waiting for them at the door of the Three Broomsticks.

I think I’m going to be sick,” he said nauseously.

Don’t be a baby, I’ll protect you from the werewolf,” she said teasingly.

Hardy har har; hilarious, love,” Draco told her while gulping audibly.

Emily rolled her eyes before taking a deep breath and plunging forward.

You’ll tell me if he’s about to attack Draco, right? Emily thought. She watched Alicia giggle at her own table, but she didn’t answer her question. Alicia and Jamie were sitting far enough away to eavesdrop on them. Emily glared at her while she smiled innocently.

Just then, Remus came back to the table with three Butterbeers, and Emily prepared herself for what she was going to say.

Now I know this is sorta-kinda sudden, and definitely not planned, but—

If you say what you are about to say, Emily James Remus Amelia Sirius Black-Malfoy, then you are grounded for life!” Remus interrupted sternly and slightly panicked. He had noticed how nervous Draco was acting. The letter he had received from Emily said that they had big news to tell him, and he couldn’t help but be afraid of what they were about to say.

Are you even allowed to ground me now that I’m married?” she asked curiously, distracted by his statement.

You’re damn right I am! Now stop changing the subject, and tell me!” he demanded as he glared at the blonde wizard that sat beside her. Draco stared at his bottle that sat on the table, refusing to make eye contact with the older wizard.

I-I-I’m pre-pregnant,” she stuttered as she squeezed Draco’s knee painfully under the table.

Remus stared from one to the other silently before knocking back the rest of his drink and motioning for Rosmerta to bring him something stronger.

I knew it,” he said dryly, almost talking to himself as he thanked the barmaid and took a long swig of his Firewhiskey.

*

Well…It didn’t go so bad,” Emily commented as she, Draco, Alicia, and Jamie started walking back to the castle. They could see Harry, Hermione, and Ron walking ahead of them, but said nothing to get their attention and tell them to wait for them to catch up.

You didn’t have to endure that God-awful talk from Remus,” Draco muttered.

We at least got to look at some cute things in that shop,” she said, perking up to try and get him in a better mood.

*

The next month passed quickly with Emily and Draco conversing with Remus about plans for the baby. Remus was going to start moving things out of Emily’s bedroom and into Draco’s, so that Emily’s could be changed into a nursery. Though, he still wasn’t able to put many things in there since they weren’t aware of the sex of the baby yet. They had just gotten together in Hogsmeade to talk about how they would celebrate Christmas this year and what color to paint the room. They all decided on a lime green, deciding it could go with either female or male with the right accents.

I think our son will like the color green, don’t you?” Emily asked nonchalantly as they made their way back to the castle. Draco rolled his eyes as Jamie and Alicia laughed.

Our daughter will love the color,” Draco retorted. “We can use light purple for accents,” he added.

I think our son will like blues and teals mixed in with the green, don’t you guys?” Emily asked, ignoring him. Alicia snorted at the both of them as Jamie laughed heartily.

You know I could just tell you what the sex is,” Alicia smirked and Draco’s eyes lit up as Emily scowled.

Really—” Draco exclaimed before Emily cut him off.

You most certainly will not!

Alicia and Jamie snickered as Draco pouted, about to make a smart comment back, when they all froze in their tracks, watching as Katie Bell rose in the air, her hair whipping around her face before she let out an ear-splitting scream.

Alicia froze, her eyes turning as white as the snow, watching Katie scream at something only she could see. The boys ran forwards, trying to pull her down while Emily headed for her friend.

Are you kidding me?” she snapped, storming forwards as Katie fell to the ground, using Draco to break her fall. Harry appeared with Hagrid then, who quickly carried her away.

What?” Emily said, glancing at her, but Alicia just shook her head.

That necklace is cursed- do not touch it,” she ordered as Ron went to pick up the glittering object. “Leanne, where did Katie get that package?

S- she came b- back from the toilet w- with it,” the girl sobbed and Hermione led her away.

After a lot of arguments, Alicia and Draco remained quiet about the baby, the sex still secret after a lot of death threats from Emily. An invitation arrived for Alicia, Emily, Hermione, Ginny, Neville, and Harry, giving details about Slughorn’s festive party. Ron became sullen and moody, making him and Hermione fall out again. Alicia and Jamie waited for Emily and Draco before heading to Slughorn’s office to find Harry, Luna, Hermione, and Cormac.

Sighing, Alicia pushed the drink Jamie had gotten her across the table slightly, which Jamie noticed.

What is it? You haven’t touched any food, which is a dead giveaway that something’s not right,” he said, sliding the drink towards her again. She frowned, nudging it away again.

I’m fine, I just don’t want the drink or food, that’s all,” she said, shrugging. Draco shot her a warning look which she ignored. Jamie continued to stare at her, making her roll her eyes. “Seriously, I will curse you if you keep staring at me.

Can I talk to you for a minute?” Draco said, standing up. Alicia grimaced and followed his lead, moving to a corner where they couldn’t be seen. “What aren’t you telling him?

I’m hiding the fact that Emily is having a girl,” she said, crossing her arms.

Really?” Draco asked, forgetting the original conversation.

Yup.

Hey, that’s a dirty trick- what won’t you tell him?” Draco repeated, his face smooth and calm.

The fact that I’m having a little boy,” Alicia admitted eventually, looking down at her feet. Draco wrapped her in a brief hug.

You shouldn’t hide it from him, he’ll take it fine,” he said quietly, and she looked up, her dark blue eyes narrowed. “Don’t tell me, how do you know?” he asked and she cracked a grin. “I know because I’m a guy, and a dad, too.

Fine… You go get him, and then you can tell Emily.” She sighed, shooing him away. He grinned at her, disappearing into the crowd. A few minutes later, Jamie popped out into her corner, an odd look on his face.

You summoned me?” he asked, leaning against the wall and studying her carefully.

Funny,” she said, rolling her eyes. “I have to tell you something, but I don’t know how to,” she said, her eyes glancing at his face before falling on her feet.

You can tell me anything, you know that,” he said, reaching out to stroke her cheek lightly. She leant into his hand, sighing.

Before I do, promise that you won’t get angry at me?” she said, offering her pinkie finger. He wrapped his own round it, smiling.

I’m glad you haven’t grown out of that, it’s cute- and yes, I promise,” he said and Alicia giggled.

You can’t be mad at Draco, either,” she added, her laughter dying out quickly.

Promise,” Jamie said, frowning again. “Now, tell me what it is.” In response, she lowered their hands, still linked by their pinkies, to her stomach, pressing his palm to the crimson cotton of her dress. He waited, his eyes growing wider as they flickered from her face to his hand. “Seriously?

Three months serious,” she said, focusing on his face, waiting for the anger she deserved.

How? Well, I know how, but…” He trailed off, shaking his head. “How do you know?

Same as always… A vision.” She shrugged, relaxing as she studied his warm smile. “So you’re happy about this?

Of course I am!” He laughed, wrapping her in a hug and spinning her round. She laughed, kissing him quickly. “So, as it’s a vision, do you know what it is?

Yes, thank you very much,” she said happily, zipping her lips.

That’s not fair,” he whined, setting her down and frowning. “Tell me.

No.

Tell me!

Nope.

Alicia.

What do I get in return for this most important piece of information?” she said, narrowing her eyes.

It depends on how good the information is,” Jamie countered, making her smile.

Well, what would you consider good?

Hmm… A boy,” he said after a while, nodding. Alicia beamed and stifled a giggle. “That means I’m right, doesn’t it?” She nodded and he laughed, his eyes shining.

So, in return, I want you to tell Firenze,” Alicia said and Jamie froze, his face turning pale.

*

The first of March came around and Hermione was woken up by Alicia’s scream. “What?” she said, falling out of her bed and scrambling across the floor to Alicia’s.

There’s another attack- today,” she breathed, no color in her eyes again. “I have to find Harry... Have to tell him.” They dressed quickly, Hermione throwing on jeans and a t-shirt while Alicia pulled on her red sweater dress before hurrying downstairs and nearly crashing into Jamie, Ron, and Harry. “There’s going to be another attack.

Tell me while we walk, Ron’s got to see Slughorn,” Harry said, leading him out the portrait hole.

Hermione, you wanna come with me to see Emily?” Jamie said, glancing at Ron’s glazed face. They headed off while the others hurried through the castle.

I didn’t see much, only the curtains round a bed in the Hospital Wing and feeling the panic,” Alicia said as Slughorn finally let them in.

Are you sure it’s an attack?” he said as Slughorn put together the antidote to the love potion. She shrugged, watching as Ron slowly came round. As she accepted the glass of mead, her eyes flashed pink.

NO!” she shouted, throwing it into the fireplace so that it exploded. Ignoring the shocked looks she was receiving, she pushed the glasses out of Harry and the professor’s hands, letting them fall to the floor. “Ron! Don’t-” She turned to see Ron had already emptied his glass. “Drink it- Harry, it’s poisoned!

Posting for Emily, cause she's too busy, and we love her

Knock, knock!” Hermione sang out as she and Jamie walked through the portrait that admitted them into Emily and Draco’s rooms.

Hey,” Draco said glumly. He was sitting on the couch in the Common Room, drinking some pumpkin juice as he read the Daily Prophet.

What’s wrong with you?” Hermione asked as she took one of the arm chairs. Jamie took the other as he looked around the room for Emily.

Where’s the wifey?” Jamie teased.

Puking in the bathroom,” Draco answered. He looked towards the bushy-haired witch, and added, “She’s sour that Alicia told me the sex of the baby, and is taking it out on…well, the use of our bed, we’ll say.

Eloquent way of putting my morning sickness, Malfoy,” Emily remarked as she walked down the staircase. Her hair was up in a messy bun and she was donning a large t-shirt that looked like it belonged to Draco and a pair of his Slytherin green boxers. “And I told you I wanted to find out the normal way, not by my psychic sister.

How else would you like me to put it, Malfoy? She’s upstairs puking her brains out because she’s knocked up?” Draco bit back. “And just because you want to find out the normal way, doesn’t mean that I wanted to.

Hermione and Jamie glanced at each other, Hermione nervous and Jamie amused.

Maybe we should come back later,” Hermione said quietly as she started to stand.

No, please, do stay,” Emily told them quickly. “Fine, Draco. Fine, have it your way! Go shop for the baby since you know the gender! Go pick out the colors and the blankets, and everything else we should have been able to do together! Including finding out the sex together! But since you know, you won’t need me. I don’t care what you do anymore, and you obviously don’t care about my feelings on the subject, especially since all you did was knock me up!” she screamed at Draco.

It’s not like I’m going to go pick them out tomorrow! I’ll wait until you know. I’m not a complete prat, you know. And what was that you were talking about? Why are taking everything so seriously? You know that’s not how I had meant it!” Draco yelled back.

She’s hormonal,” Jamie coughed none-too-subtly.

I AM NOT HORMONAL!” Emily screeched at the wizard and Jamie chuckled a little before catching Draco’s warning look.

Ems, why don’t we just calm down a little?” Draco asked gently as he took a step toward his wife.

I am calm. I don’t need to calm down, Draco. You need to calm down,” she told him while she sniffled suddenly.

Are you sure you don’t want us to leave?” Hermione asked apprehensively as she fidgeted in her seat.

Yes,” Emily sniffled again. “Want some pumpkin juice?” she asked suddenly as she made her way toward the kitchen calmly, almost as if everything in the past twenty minutes hadn’t happened.

Emily busied herself in the kitchen for a while before Draco’s arms wrapped around her waist from behind and his chin settled in on her shoulder.

What’s really going on with you?” he whispered.

I told you, man! She’s horm—” Jamie started before Hermione slapped him upside the head to shut up.

What does it matter to you?” Emily asked coldly. “You just knocked me up anyway; nothing important,” she whimpered.

I did not knock you up,” he told her softly as he kissed the spot behind her ear that made her shiver. “I made love to you, and you’re now blessing me with a child. I’m sorry,” he whispered as his hands caressed her stomach over his Weird Sisters t-shirt.

Promise that’s how you see it?” she whispered as tears silently slid down her cheeks.

I promise,” he said as he kissed her temple. She turned in his arms and he held her tightly, wiping her tears away as he told her, “I’ll make it up to you tonight; show you what I’m talking about.” He grinned slyly at her and she smiled impishly.

Too much information,” Jamie muttered as he stared at them disgustedly. He saw Emily as his little sister and did not want to think about what she and her husband did in the bedroom.

How did you think this happened?” Emily laughed as she pointed towards her stomach.

Please don’t tell me that you believed all of the stories your parents told you growing up about the stork or how when two people love each other so much,” Draco drawled with a teasing tone.

Jamie glared at them. “No, I did not believe those stories, and yes, I know how…that happened. I just don’t need to hear about it,” he corrected.

Emily laughed lightly before turning back into Draco’s embrace.

If you promise not to buy everything we need or want, then I don’t have a problem with you shopping just a wee bit to get started. But I did want to do most of it together,” she whispered into his neck.

Really?” he asked excitedly. He wore a cat that got the canary grin as she nodded and he kissed her soundly on the lips.

Emily cheerfully sat on the love seat, Draco sitting next to her. He caressed her stomach as she cuddled up next to him, both looking at their guests.

Hermione and Jamie stared at the couple in amusement; one moment they’re biting each other’s heads off, the next they’re lovey dovey on the couch as if nothing had happened to begin with.

So, where’s everybody else?” Draco asked.

Ron ate something with a love potion in it, so Ali and Harry took him to Slughorn for an antidote,” Jamie supplied with a chuckle.

A love potion?” Emily asked, alarmed.

It was meant for Harry, from that Romilda Vane girl, but Ron thought the candies were for him, and he ate them,” Jamie explained.

That’s horrible,” Draco said, disgusted.

He’ll be all right. Slughorn will fix him right up,” Hermione remarked.

Oh, that, right, yes, of course he’ll be fine. I was talking about Vane. It’s pathetic that she’s had to resort to a love potion for a bloke to ask her out, isn’t it?” Draco asked.

Emily slapped his chest in response as Jamie snickered. Emily and Hermione exchanged a look before Emily gave a shocked squeal. Everyone looked at her in anticipation, but she hardly paid them attention.

Emily? Alicia’s voice sounded in her head.

Yes? she responded.

Ron’s been poisoned; I’ll explain in detail later, but we’re all in the Hospital Wing. Harry was able to shove a bezoar down his throat and save him, but he’s still unconscious.

Emily gasped and Draco looked at her in concern.

We’ll be right there, she thought as she jumped up from the couch and tugged on Draco’s arm.

Ron’s in the Hospital Wing. He was poisoned! C’mon!” she yelled at them urgently. Nobody moved for a breath as they stared at her, her outburst surprising.

Er, Emily?” Draco asked as he eyed her attire.

What?” she huffed.

Don’t you wanna put on some actual pants, rather than wear my boxers?” he asked with a smirk.

Emily glanced down at his boxers and blushed before running off up the stairs to change. She could hear Jamie, in the background, laughing heartily at her.

Just you wait, Jamsie! I can’t wait until Alicia gets hormonal, and then we’ll see who’s laughing!” she yelled at him as she disappeared into her bedroom. She threw on some sweatpants and bounded down the stairs to grin at them.

Jamie’s smile had disappeared and he was staring at the spot where Emily had disappeared to before when she came back down the stairs, smirking. “Do you think she’ll notice my disappearance when that happens?” he asked them seriously. Everyone started laughing as they made their way to the infirmary, sobering up quickly as their thoughts turned to Ron.

Hermione, you wanna come with me to see Emily?” Jamie said, glancing at Ron’s glazed voice.

Posting for Ems again, cause she's super busy

“And just because you want to find out the normal way, doesn’t mean that I wanted to.”

I think I've been gone far too long. Sorry about that. (And I'm sorry I left you alone, Abs! :tackle So, I shall post DOUBLE! (The first is Abi's and the second is mine.)

Alicia sat on the edge of Ron’s bed, twisting the edge of the blanket in her fingers while Fred patted her shoulder gently. The doors opened and Jamie moved straight to his cousin’s side, his face pinched with worry. Fred glanced at Emily, Draco, and Hermione quickly before his eyes were drawn back to Ron.

“Not how we imagined handing over our presents,” George muttered, flinging an arm round Jamie’s shoulders.

“I warned you the Hogsmeade trip was cancelled,” Alicia mumbled, her gaze on Jamie.

“We wanted to look at buying a shop,” Fred said defensively. Alicia shrugged, batting his hand away from her shoulder.

“Thank god you saw the drink was poisoned,” George said, nodding to her.

“I didn’t see it quick enough though, did I? Look at Ron.” She made a sad little gesture with her hand, now looking at the floor.

“We’ve told you, this isn’t your fault,” Fred said while George wrapped his arm round her waist, pulling her to her feet. “Harry saved Ron with that Bezoar, and you saved Harry by knocking that drink out his hand.” Alicia replied with a shrug, twisting away from George.

“Alicia?” Emily came to stand beside her, linking her fingers with hers. “The twins are right… Look at the positive side of it- Ron’s alive, Harry’s alive, Slughorn’s alive, and you’re alive.” She bumped her with her shoulder, making Alicia smile a little. “If you’d not had your vision, you’d all be dead right now, still in that office.”

“Fine… But stop calling me a hero,”
Alicia said, scowling at the twins, who crossed their hearts. “Oh, Emily’ll be the one laughing when I get hormonal, because I would bind you to my side permanently,” she added, making the others laugh.

“Do we want to know?” George said, swapping a horrified look with his twin.

“I don’t think we do,” Fred replied, glancing from his cousin to the purple haired girl beside him.

“I forgot, you don’t know, do you?” Jamie said suddenly, his cheeks turning pink.

“Didn’t we just say we didn’t want to know?” the twins said together, making Emily chuckle.

“Oh, okay then… You don’t care that you’re going to have a second cousin, then?” Alicia said innocently, her hair flashing scarlet.

“Okay, first, that’s good, right?” Fred said, frowning.

“Why would it be bad?” Jamie said sharply, glaring. Alicia laughed and grabbed his arm, tugging him into a chair.

“A little person who’s the perfect mix of Jamie and me is kinda scary, isn’t it?” She giggled.

“Exactly, and second- I didn’t need the mental images, thanks,” Fred continued, pretending to be sick.

“Oh, behave,” Jamie spat, rolling his eyes as Draco and Emily laughed.

“Are you going to tell what it is?” Draco said as he sobered up, glancing at the couple.

“Not yet… We’ll wait and let you find out the natural way, I think,” Alicia said, smirking. “It’s only fair- you know about yours,” she added, grinning at his frown. After that, the conversation moved towards the attack.

After they all discussed the attack, who the poison was meant for, and who sent it, Mr. and Mrs. Weasley arrived. Madame Pomfrey kept reminding them about the amount of visitors allowed at a time, and Emily and Draco took the hint, along with Harry and Hermione, and left the Hospital Wing.

Harry and Hermione headed off for Gryffindor Tower, while Emily and Draco went to their rooms.

“Ali already told you the sex, didn’t she?” Emily asked immediately, her curiosity eating up at her.

Draco smirked as he removed his shoes and climbed into their bed. “Why do you want to know?”

“Why don’t you want me to know?”
she challenged, changing into a pair of cotton shorts and a dark purple halter-top.

“Because I’m not allowed to tell you,” he told her smartly and she grimaced at him.

“Fine,” she scoffed. “I really didn’t want to know anyway,” she said as she sniffled mockingly.

“I promised; It’s not like I enjoy keeping things from you, you know,” he said as he kissed her lips.

“I thought that now that we’re married, we’re not supposed to keep secrets from each other,” Emily pouted and he chuckled.

“Mm, but we’re not a normal married couple, now, are we? Besides, you’ll find out soon enough, love. Now, subject change, what should our baby’s middle name be?” he asked. He grabbed her arm and pulled her into bed, kissing down her jaw and neck, slowly making his way to her stomach.

He lifted the material from her belly and laid his ear right over her bellybutton, like he’d done on many other occasions as of late.

“Let’s start with girl,” he added absentmindedly.

“Since you chose girl first, does that mean it’s a girl?” she asked with narrowed eyes.

“I’d be happy with any sex. So, no it does not mean it’s a girl. And, no, that does not mean it’s a boy either,” he added when she opened her mouth to interrupt. “It just means I’m happy we’re having a baby and I’d like to give it a full name,” he told her lovingly as he kissed her stomach.

“Well,” Emily hesitated. Draco stared at her with a raised eyebrow and she bit her lip.

“Spit it out then, what did you have in mind?”

“How about Aria Aleeza?”
Emily whispered. “It means joy,” she added.

“I like it,” he said thoughtfully as he nodded. “Aria Aleeza Malfoy,” he said while littering kisses all over her stomach. Emily beamed at him as her fingers played with the hair at the nape of his neck.

“And a boy?” she asked.

“Hmm, how about Sirius…Rigel? Sirius Rigel Malfoy?” Draco asked, his brow furrowed in thought.

“I love that! It’s a star, too, right?” Draco nodded in confirmation, his lips twitching upwards slightly. Emily narrowed her eyes, but he avoided them as he went back to listening to her stomach.

“Who do you think that poison was meant for?” asked Draco.

“I don’t know, but I think Hermione’s right—it wasn’t meant for Ron and that necklace wasn’t meant for Katie. Who do you think it’s for?”

“I don’t know…"

"Do you think Lucius is trying to get to us?”
she asked hesitantly.

He looked up at her sharply before sliding up so that his entire body covered hers. He framed her face with his hands, staring into her eyes intently.

“No, I don’t think it’s Lucius. Lucius would know what he’s doing. He wouldn’t make amateur mistakes. If that poison or necklace was meant for us, it would have gotten to us. Besides if the necklace was for us, then why didn’t Katie just turn around and hand it to one of us? No, I think it was meant for someone else. Someone else that somebody really wants dead. Almost as if it were a mission of sorts…to get inducted into something,” he muttered the last part, his brow crinkling in concentration.

You can’t honestly think what I think you’re thinking,” she said.

“I bet you can’t say that five times fast,” Draco smirked and she smacked his shoulder. “Fine, fine,” he shrugged. “I don’t know for sure who it is, but I do have my suspicions.”

“What’s going to happen, Draco?”
Emily whispered.

“What do you mean?”

“When it gets out that we’re pregnant. When Lucius and Bellatrix find out that we’re pregnant.”
Emily’s voice cracked.

“We’ll deal with it when it comes,” he soothed. “I won’t let anything happen to you; to either of you."

*

“We’re still going to see Madam Pomfrey before the Quidditch match, right?” Draco asked as he moved around their room, in search of his one pair of red socks.

“Yeah,” Emily mumbled with another yawn as she pulled on her flat-footed, golden shoes. She was wearing blue jeans with a red and gold Weasley Jumper from Molly.

Draco wrapped a Gryffindor scarf around her neck and kissed her chastely as he searched for his Slytherin scarf. The only thing he wore in spirit of the Gryffindor match were the red socks, which he made sure were completely covered and hidden from others.

“Let’s go before we’re late for the match,” he told her as he stuffed his wand in his back pocket. Emily nodded absentmindedly as they hurried down their stairs, but Emily halted to a stop and ran back up the stairs and into their bathroom, emptying the contents of her stomach into the toilet.

“Remind me to ask Madam Pomfrey for that potion that helps with morning sickness,” Emily rasped as she washed her mouth out in the sink and rubbed her protruding belly. She was about six months along, and she was about to learn the sex of their baby, and more importantly, of who won the bet with Draco. He refused to give her a clue, which she was thankful for because she wanted to wait until it was natural to find out, not because her sister was a psychic.

“You sure you’re okay to go the match?” Draco asked in concern as he pushed the hair out of her face and laid a hand on her stomach. He couldn’t think of anyone more beautiful in that moment than her, round with his child.

“Yep, peachy keen, let’s go,” Emily reassured him as she grabbed his hand and they went downstairs for the second time.

Alicia and Jamie were waiting for them on the couch, standing when Emily and Draco touched ground.

“Ready?” Alicia asked with a grin, which Draco met with one of his own.

“Lead the way,” Emily answered as she grabbed a coat and draped it over her arm.

This was the first weekend since her pregnancy started to show that she was actually going out. It was easy to hide the baby bump during classes and at meals because of her robes, plus a small concealment charm, but when wearing normal clothes, it was relatively hard to hide and the charms are a pain to keep up, so most weekends she stayed in her rooms.

“So, shall we put a little more into this ‘bet’?” Draco asked with a smirk.

“No way! You already know the sex; that’d be cheating!” Emily argued as she crossed her arms over her chest.

“Loser makes breakfast tomorrow?” he prompted, ignoring her outburst.

“No.”

Emily waved to Ron and Harry as she made her way to one of the beds at the far end of the room. Alicia and Jamie stopped at Ron’s bed for a minute to talk as Emily got comfortable in her bed, her hands nervously picking at the invisible lint on the bed sheets.

“Why are you nervous?” Draco asked with an affectionate smile.

“Reflex,” Emily shrugged as Madame Pomfrey made her way over.

“Hello, dears, we’re waiting for two others to arrive, and then we’ll get on with it,” she announced before returning to her office.

“Who are we waiting on? Do you know?” she asked, confused.

“Not a clue,” said Draco.

“Alicia!” Emily called out suddenly, causing Draco to jump in surprise.

“I’m not telling you, so don’t ask. It’s meant to be a surprise!” she answered the unspoken question. Emily grumbled to herself as the others chuckled.

“We’re not too late, are we?” Remus shouted as he burst through the door, out of breath and hair windswept.

“Remus! What are you doing here? Tonks!” Emily grinned while Remus went to her side, Tonks following closely.

“You honestly think I’d miss the appointment where I find out what sex my grandbaby is going to be?” he grinned.

“And my second-cousin?” Tonks added.

Alicia, Jamie, and Harry ambled over to Emily’s bed.

"You know, that's a bit... weird when you think about it. All the inbreeding. I mean, Draco and I are technically-" said Emily.

"It's best not to think too long on it," Draco interrupted.

"Besides, it's normal in the Wizarding World, especially among purebloods," Tonks shrugged.

"That's... That's messed up." Harry's face scrunched up in disgust.

Before anyone could say anything more on the matter, Pomfrey was back. “Ready to find out?” she asked. She poured a potion into a small cup and handed it to Emily.

“What will it do?” Emily asked curiously.

“About a minute after taking it, your stomach will either glow pink for a girl or blue for a boy; it’s quite simple,” Madame Pomfrey explained.

Emily chewed on her bottom lip as she took the proffered potion and looked over at Draco. He smiled encouragingly, one hand on her stomach and the other smoothing back her curls. She downed the drink in one, her gaze never wavering from his face. After about thirty seconds, Remus clamped his hand over her left one, which she hadn’t realized had been tapping impatiently against the bed.

“I hate waiting,” Emily muttered as her gaze shifted to her belly. It still remained glow-less for another twenty-five seconds, before it finally took on an orange like aura around her clothed stomach. The orange shifted to green before finally settling on a bright pink.

“Pink,” Emily breathed, still staring at her stomach even after the glow faded.

“A girl!” Remus crowed as he wrapped Emily in a one-armed hug and kissed her cheek.

Emily slowly sat up from the bed, in a sort of daze as she swung her feet over the side.

“Emily?” Draco asked worriedly as he cupped her face. “Are you okay?”

Her eyes lifted to his, immediately filling with tears, and his eyes widened quickly.

“What’s wr—” he began before being squeezed to the point of no breathing by his lunging wife. Her arms wrapped tightly around his neck, her legs lifting to tangle around his waist as she cried into his neck. Her baby bump made it a bit more difficult, but they somehow managed the awkward hug.

And before he had time to even register what had just transpired, she started kissing his neck and jaw before claiming his lips in a desperate, intense, happy ritual that was as old as time.

They heard their family and friends laughing in the background, one even coughing slightly in hopes of breaking it up. But they paid them no mind as Draco’s fingers curled around her red locks and he nipped at her bottom lip.

“A girl,” she whispered between kisses with a little sigh as one of her hands moved to his face to trace his jaw line and cheek bone.

“Mm, I win,” he whispered in response. She giggled lightly before kissing him again chastely.

“I love you, you know,” she mumbled as she rested her forehead against his.

“Mm, I’d hope so, since you’re my wife and all, and pregnant with my daughter,” he whispered.

“Aria,” she breathed, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears.

“Aria,” he echoed with a grin as he gently let her feet connect with the floor before kneeling in front of her and pushing her sweater up and over her bump. He littered kisses along her skin, whispering Aria repeatedly as Emily’s hand fingered through his platinum hair.

“Ahem! Care to spread the joy?” Remus asked impatiently, though his eyes were twinkling. Draco stood from his position on the floor, his cheeks a light pink color as Emily grinned at the other occupants of the room.

Remus engulfed her in a hug, kissing the top of her head as he questioned, “Aria?”

Emily nodded happily as she pulled back from him. “We’re naming her Aria,” she announced as she glanced back at Draco. He grinned before kissing her chastely on the cheek while he and Remus shared one of their ‘man hugs’.

“Merlin, you have no idea how much I’ve been dying to tell you,” he confessed.

“Serves you right for being impatient.”

*

“C’mon, we’re late as it is! Everyone else has gone down to the match and I’m perfectly fine, Draco,” Emily whined.

“You’re sure?” he asked uncertainly with one hand on her cheek and one on her stomach.

“Draco Malfoy, you will be the one that isn’t okay if you ask me that one more time,” she threatened.

“All right, let’s go… If you’re su—” he started before cutting off immediately when Emily took out her wand and raised her eyebrow challengingly. Draco swallowed his words before flying across the room and opening the door for her.

She smirked as she crossed the threshold and waited for him to follow into the hallway.

Draco grabbed her hand in his and kissed her temple as they walked through the deserted castle on their way to the Quidditch Pitch.

She leaned into his side and closed her eyes with a sleepy smile. Draco tensed suddenly and she frowned as she peeled her eyes open to look at him curiously.

“What’s the—” she started before a movement out of the corner of her eye caught her attention. “Oh,” she muttered as a hand went protectively to her pregnancy bump.

“Well, well, well,” Blaise cackled and the two smaller girls that flanked him grimaced more than they had been doing before.

Draco positioned himself to be slightly in front of Emily as her hand clutched tightly to his shirt, begging him to not do anything rash.

“What do you want, Zabini?” Draco asked loudly. Blaise studied him before his gaze turned to Emily, sliding down her body before his eyes landed on her stomach. They widened an infinite amount and he smirked.

“Oh, Lucius will love this,” Blaise said sarcastically.

“Lucius has nothing to do with this, nor do you,” Draco spat. “Now if you’ll excuse us…” Draco put a warm hand on Emily’s lower back, to lead her away from the scene, but Blaise’s next words caused him pause.

“Do you really think he’d allow that to take his name? My guess would be a no, so I don’t think he’ll have any problem with me…doing…this,” he said triumphantly as he sent a curse at Emily.

Draco pushed her out of the way, causing her to trip over her feet and fall on her side. At the same moment, Draco was thrown backwards by an invisible force and Emily called out to him, wishing immediately after that she had kept quiet, because it caused Blaise and the two little girls to turn their attention to her. She whimpered when she saw that her wand had dropped somewhere within the fall and now was on the other side of the hallway, out of her reach.

Blaise walked up to her slowly before bending down to her level. “And he definitely won’t derive me of doing this,” he whispered before he stood back up and braced himself to kick her in the gut, where Aria was currently kicking in annoyance at being awoken so harshly.

Emily closed her eyes and curled her body into a ball, trying to protect her stomach with her arms and knees.

She cringed through the anxiety of waiting for his kick, but after a girly scream and a thump, accompanied without a kick to her body, she peeked one eye open, and started crying at the sight of Jamie squatting down next her, reaching out a hand, and asking if she was all right.

She glanced around and saw that Blaise and the two girls were nowhere in sight, having fled at being outnumbered. Alicia was enervating Draco and helping him stand. Emily let out a shuddering breath as Jamie helped her up from the ground and started firing off questions about what happened.

Emily shook her head and nodded at the appropriate times as Jamie and Alicia led her and Draco back to the Infirmary. Emily looked to Draco to make sure he was okay, but he stared determinedly at the floor, both hands deep in his pocket. Emily’s eyes filled with tears as she realized that he was ignoring her.

Merlin, I hate hormones, she thought as she swiped at her tears.

Emily barely listened to the Healer as she fussed over her body while she performed diagnostic spells and administered the correct potions to help with her fall and her anxiety. She just stared at her husband as he looked at his lap.

Madame Pomfrey demanded that she be put on bed rest for the remainder of the weekend, and so after Jamie and Alicia helped her get settled back into her bedroom, she had to convince them repeatedly that she’d be fine and they should return to the Quidditch Pitch.

When they had finally left, Emily wandered down the stairs and into their Common Room in search of Draco. He was sipping at a smuggled-in-Firewhiskey as he stared moodily at the wall.

“Are you—are you mad at me?” Emily whispered as she stood at the other end of the couch. He shook his head without saying a word and she sat down timidly.

“You haven’t so much as looked at me, much less talked to me, Draco. I don’t understand what I did wrong.” Her voice cracked at the end and she berated herself for her stupid emotions.

“It’s not you… It’s me,” was his answer. Any other circumstance and she probably would have laughed at the Muggle cliché, but right now she felt like bawling.

“Is it—is it what he said? Did you change your mind?” she whispered.

“No, Emily, it isn’t what he said. It’s what I did,” he snapped and her eyes widened in understanding. She sighed in relief as she crawled down the length of the couch and sat right next to him. He buried his face in his hands as her hand gently squeezed his thigh.

“You didn’t hurt me, Draco, or Aria,” she said softly.

“Don’t lie. I pushed you!” He quickly pushed her hand off and jumped up, pacing.

“To protect me! Draco, if you hadn’t done that, Madame Pomfrey said we could have lost her!” she cried.

“You’re on bed rest because of what I did, Emily! Tell me that’s not my fault.”

“I’m on bed rest because of Zabini, not you. Please hear me when I tell you this, Draco. I love you more than anything. And this is anything but your fault. Please don’t push us away,”
she whispered, and at that, he looked at her. His eyes shone with a look she hadn’t seen on him before and before she knew what was happening, he attacked her.

He rained kisses all over her face and neck and she laughed at the absurdity of what they’d been through within the past two hours.

Merlin, I love you! I’m so sorry, Ems. I didn’t mean to,” he whispered as he moved to kiss her stomach, too.

“Nonsense, nothing to be sorry for,” she said.

“He knows now,” Draco whispered as he kissed her forehead and pulled her into his lap.

She snuggled up to him and yawned. “We’ll deal with it when it comes,” she echoed.
