Kevin Rudd, not a big surprise there. Good, though. Or at least acceptable.

I suppose centre-left or left-leaning candidates will have to make do until there are people willing to vote for Green or leftist party candidates.

Left-leaning parties in Germany are a joke. The Greens have a decent-enough agenda most of the time, so they get my vote.

Anyway, gotta run. Train back to Hamburg due in an hour (I went home for the weekend), and I haven't even packed yet.

I bought a new... cap? Hat? Bonnet? No idea what the English word is, and I'm definitely too lazy to look it up. Anyway, you put it on your head and it keeps your brain warm.
I'm told I look cute with it, but probably the reason for that is that it's actually meant for girls. Not that I have a problem with that (obviously, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it); the main thing is that it keeps my ears warm. Which is something the "male" versions don't do.

Actually, Kevin Rudd is more than acceptable, i wear my Kevin 07 shirt with pride everyday (excluding school days and days ts dirty which is only really once a week at most).

Greens are good too, only i liked the labors policies much more than greens this time. but greens have gotten better! two more seats than last time! (which they didn't get any seats last time so thats pretty good )

I have to say I'm very impressed. For your age, you certainly show a lot of interest and passion about politics. Which is a good thing, obviously. I wish more people over here were like that.
There's so much apathy when it comes to, for example, fighting Nazism or racism. People simply don't care. And that's why I was roughed up by some of them once and no-one helped, and that's why a couple of weeks ago, a 17-year-old girl had a swastika carved into her skin with a knife and no-one helped.
Can you actually believe that? There were several people watching from their balconies!

Although I would probably never wear a shirt of a political party. Germany's Green party is, as I've said, acceptable, but there's still a lot of things that bother me about them - one of the reasons why I'm not a member of them or one of their affiliated organisations. I'm too independent to sacrifice even a bit of my political integrity to them.

It's not so much about parties rather than messages and idea(l)s. I'm a member of both amnesty international and Greenpeace, but no party.

oh my god, that is terrible! I honestly thought all of that was over, but obviousely i am wrong, gosh, one day, Germany will find someone decent to lead the country and hopefully become a great prime minister too, hopefully, soon.

I am a swinger (in voting ) but i can't vote so i guess if i could vote, i would be. I took me a about 6 months to decide who i would pute my non-exsitent vote to, between greens and labor. but i felt as if i knew Kevin Rudd, and i knew that if i ever met him, he would be just some normal guy apart from he wears a suit. So thats why i had kevin in my window as a poster.

And thankyou The only reason i am really interested in politics is because i am extreemly interested in Australia's future, like people don't really care, but they will when the wrong guy is elected and makes a bad choice which will make them lose their job or live next to a highway or something like that.

It's not that national socialism is that big of a problem in Germany. Obviously, because of our history, there is much more press coverage of such events, but in general, and I would say that of every country, there are racist or intolerant people. That of course is a problem in itself, but since we can't really outlaw such opinions, we deal with them differently - demonstrating, and so on.
I personally think it's terrible (which is why I'm so involved in a lot of this stuff), but there are just some people whose minds can't be changed. I regret it frequently, but all you can do is try to keep their ludicrous opinions as quiet as possible.

And maybe I gave the wrong impression - Germany's leading parties and politicians are neither idiots nor fascists. I simply would like things to be run differently, and by other people.

Anyhow, to speak of more pleasant things:
Tomorrow, I finally get to see The Weakerthans in concert again. You should definitely check them out, they are amazing! If are into indie rock, that is. They've got songs on their MySpace page and on YouTube ^_°

Yes, that is what i thought about our previous political leaders, like John Howard and Tony Abbott etc. But, our world can't be perfect, but we should try our hardest to make as perfect as possible.
