What about if Luna's mother had never died? How would her life be different? How would it be the same?

I think that if Luna's mother had never died, she would have had a slightly more normal upbringing. Even though her parents would still be as unique as they are now, Luna would have had the influence of two parents instead of just one. I also think that Xenophilius changed a lot after his wife died; I think he became more withdrawn and less supportive of Luna. If she had had all that growing up, maybe at school she wouldn't have been bullied so much.

As for what would stay the same: her passions. I think she'd still end up loving crazy creatures and reading the Quibbler and wearing her unique jewlery.

I belive if Lunas mum was still alive that for a start we would know her name.lol, But seriously i do think that she would still be the quirky ravenclaw we all know and love, I however think that with her mums influence at home she would maybe have a more settled home life as like alanna just said i also think that after her mum died Xeno wasnt the same as when she was alive, Its because of some of her dads ways that Luna gets called Looney and if her mum was still alive he may not have done some of the strange things that he did so it wouldnt have reflected so bad on Luna.
Maybe Luna would be better in potions too what with her mums experimenting and of course they would have all gone right as she didnt die in the accident with her potion.

Awe poor Luna. Obviously, if her mother was alive then Luna would be a different person. Perhaps not a different personality, but still-- its her mother. The woman that gave birth to her! And I agree completely with the people above me. Xeno is probably a different person. But can we blame him? The love of his life died, of corse he's going to be different! Luna would be a more well rounded person if she was raised by both of her parents.

Yet we all still love Luna, whether she was raised by one parent, two parents, or 943276896 parents

I wonder how much Xeno had to act like a mother. Or maybe he was just a doubly strong father figure.

I think would be a different person if she had a mother to raise her. I think her father thinking has influenced her too much... Especially these talks about legendary creatures or stupid stuff done by the ministry. But I don't think she would be too different as well, she would still have this thing that would make us wonder why she acts like that.

I think she would be less..actually, not shy but..idk. i think she would fit in better..
She would be less lonely. She could've learned a lot more things from her mother.

But, her Mom was just the same, she died from experimenting with potions.

I think Luna would be less strange than she now, but much of her plot would have been different. As in, she would have had more oppurtunities to get to know people, and she would be looked at differently.

I picture her mother as Luna's confidante, her best friend.

There isn't exactly a good amount of Luna and her relationship with her Mum, but just like everyone else, she would of been happier i suppose, and less distracted(or mental).

Really difficult question.

erm... If Luna's mom hadn't died, I personally think she'd act way more differently than she does now. I think she DID in fact have a real good relationship with her mom, because it did say in the books she would miss her from time to time and all. Definitely less insane I think (who would want... NORMAL Luna?!) and she wouldn't have been able to see Thestrals and all that.

And yeah, I don't think most of her insanity came from her mother really, more from Xeno really because of his... well.. Quibblerness. I think if her mom was still alive right now, she'd influence her more than her father I think.

I think her death made Luna a stronger and a more confident person.
