"Welcome to your final Divination lesson of the term. So far we've covered tea leaves and crystal ball readings, both of which require a tremendous amount of concentration," he explained. "I wanted to introduce you to a type of Divination that many of you have been doing for years and probably didn't even realize! It's actually one of my favorite types, since it doesn't involve sitting in a dark, humid room where one is likely to fall asleep," he added, his blue eyes glancing at a few particular students that he'd caught napping once or twice during his classes.
"Can anyone explain to me what Aeromancy is?" Nolan asked the class.
"Aeromancy..Aeromancy..I've heard about them.."
Noir raised her hand "Umm..Aeromancy is the art of foretelling the future by the observation of atmospheric, air or sky phenomena, sir" she said

Keefer, as usual, raised both hands into the air, eager to answer this question. "Professor, Aeromancy is a branch of divination that observes atmospheric phenomena. So it's foretelling events by studying wind currents, comets, and of course cloud formations. The cloud shapes are my favorite part, I'd say."

Other than being sorry, she felt extremely happy, she needed to see him. Still with her eyes not leaving him she tried to not go with her first idea of tackle-hug...... Didn't work. Even if she was sitting, tackle-hug was still possible.... Though it wouldn't be much of a tackle when he was a lot stronger than him. She flung her arms around his neck. So what if she got in trouble for not paying attention for one second. She didn't make any sound anyways, and it was only a hug. A big hug.
He paused and wrinkled his eyebrows at the Slytherin girl, Rae, if Nolan remembered correctly. What on Earth was she doing? "Miss Rae...eyes up here please," he said with a smile. He wasn't sure WHY she was suddenly hugging the boy next to her. Hmmm. Oh well, Nolan wasn't going to take points off for showing affection!

Oh she knew it! Aeromancy. It was either that or the one have to do with sleep and dreams which, she forgot the name of. Meh, didn't matter though, because that was not the question! "Aeromancy is pretty much divination, or seeing the future, through the air or sky. Meaning wind currents, clouds, or in short... weather conditions and other such related things."
Seemed more likely they would be studying the clouds however with the way things were set up.

Most people think it is has to do with the immediate weather, but that's actually a pretty limited view of the subject. Aeromancy goes beyond the clime - it focuses not only wind currents and clouds, but on shooting stars, spectral formations, and so on."
Then she added, "It actually has quite a few branches, such as Ceraunoscopy, the divination of thunder; and Meteormancy, that of meteors and falling stars. They're branches of Divination that stand on their own, but are also categorized as types of Aeromancy."

Nolan smiled and nodded at all the students as they answered. Some got a bit too specific, but that was ok. It was close enough. "Correct, points to everyone for attempting...Aeromancy is the study of Divination through weather and atmospheric conditions. There are many different types of Aeromancy though, and the one we'll be studying today is Nephomancy, or the study of cloud divination."
"Now, many people instantly think that cloud divination only requires looking at the shape of the cloud to get a reading. While that is true and clouds can certainly represent the symbols we've been studying all term, there are other physical features of the clouds that can add additional info to the reading. Can anyone think of an example of what I'm talking about?" he asked.

Fallon smiled. She liked participating in lessons. Participation equalled house points which was always a good thing. So her suggestion was a specific type. Nephomancy. Well whatever it was called, it was going to be a great lesson.
Fallon thought about it for a moment. Divination wasn't her best subject, but she always tried to do good in the lessons. She remembered something she'd read and raised her hand. "Nephomancy doesn't only depend on the shape, but it depends on the color of the cloud and the position that it holds in the sky as well." Wow. That was a formal answer.
Ling's hand shot up into the air and he waved it around desperately, hoping the Divination teacher would spot him. He knew he would have gotten on the professor's good side if he came up with something plausible and maybe he wouldn't be as suspicious about his truant habits. There must have been something intelligent he could say about the clouds, something that would add a little insight with the reply. As it stood, he mind was as hollow as a coconut and it didn't help it that he was drawing attention to himself either.
"Uhhhh...that--that cloud looks like a leprechaun!" the daydreamer blurted out at once, pointing to the sky and giving an anxious smile. That statement in itself was pretty much a total fail and he felt his face begin to burn with humiliation.

Score!
Hmm, Nephomancy. Abby thought, eyes gazing up at the clouds. Sky-gazing was a soothing way to relax. And think at the same time. The clouds were moving slowly around, morphing into new shapes, for there was little wind. Coming up with an answer, she raised her hand again. "I believe that the movement of the clouds across the sky also plays a part in the divination," she said.

She had dozed off again... and who could BLAME her, these blankets were comfy and she could sleep here outside AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALL DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY. Hehe.
But yes, cloud reading. Uh-huh.
Ummmmmmmmmm... Hearing the Professor talk, and the question, Miranda decided to raised her hand and answer said question. Just to let Mr Reynolds know she had not fallen asleep...much. "Sir, could the dark areas of the cloud have any significance? Like... a dark and grey cloud might be a bit more...''bad'' than a entirely white cloud?" Bad? She couldn't come up with a better worrrd. "Maybe if a white cloud with some spots of dark shades could mean something else?" Erm, maybe?

Nolan nodded at all the students who mentioned color in their answer. "Yes, very good! The color can indeed change the meaning of a reading. Usually if the cloud is darker in color, it holds a negative meaning, and depending on the time of day and the weather conditions, you may see all sorts of colors in the clouds!" he expained. He'd heard of people who saw yellow and green clouds right before an intense storm--WHY they'd be out staring at clouds during that time was beyond him, but whatever. To each his own.
"For simplicity's sake, however, we won't be studying colors during this lesson. I have a feeling that the weather conditions today will be providing us with typical, white clouds, so color will not be a factor during your readings," he added.

Symbols that are closer to each other in the sky are probably linked in some way. Speed is a bit harder to try and understand...if a cloud is moving quickly, that may mean that it will pass you by in life and you may miss it, or it may mean that it'll influence you in the very near future. It's all up to you and what you think it means in regards to your reading," he explained. Cloud reading was tricky sometimes. Yup.

Partners? Why did everything have to be with partners?
Glancing nervously at Destiny, and wringing her hands in her lap, Evelyn took a deep breathe and was aboooouuuut to ask if she wanted to be partners when...
SAVIOR!
Clearing her throat quietly, the Slytherin looked around as if she didn't see Destiny before...scrambling up and moving to where a certain Gryffindor sat. Plopping herself down next to Patroclus, Evelyn smiled. "Hey lemur boy."

Patroclus could not deny, he was rather chuffed with himself at this very moment, his early guesses had been right, and now his answer was correct! There was something written in the clouds, and Patroclus could read it; "Go Patroclus!"
Laying down onto the soft blanket Patroclus starred at the cumulus clouds, wondering if they could tell him, who his partner should be!

Glancing back down for the sky, Mina looked around. What was it with all this partnering up this term? She understood that two minds worked better than one, but it was like every lesson always ended up in partners or groups.
Shaking her head, she shrugged and scanned the area for a partner. There had to me someone around that was looking for a partner and wasn't terrible. Maybe she's find an awesome third year to partner up with.

Righto!
Gold would have asked Xylon [it was starting to become the norm], but she could see he was already wrapped up in a hug. Rae. Of course. She hadn't seen those two together for a while, so it figured that, now that she did, they seemed quite taken up by each other. Half smiling at them, she turned round to look who else she could partner up with.
"Does anyone need a partner?" She asked everyone in general cheerfully, textbook in lap, blanket by her side.

"Hey, are you still free?" she asked.

Such a nice day, to be outside. Gold, whose green gaze was still scanning the area around the awesomely blue lake to spot anyone she knew, had to say she was pleased that Professor Reynolds had led them out here, for the last Divination lesson of the term.
She was jerked out of her thoughts when she heard a familiar voice. Dianna. "Yep," Gold said cheerfully, accompanying the word with a simple nod of her red head. She paused, and then asked, "Does this mean we're partners for this class, then?"

She half smiled at her own statement.
Dianna sat down beside Gold.
"Yeah.. I guess so." she smiled.
