Bellatrix stormed through the castle, upset that she had to escort Snape there like she was a pack mule or something. She hated him almost as much as she did her wretch of a family! She was walking down the stairs toward the Great Hall headed toward the Slytherin common room when she heard voices, and it sounded like Professor Dumbledoor. She ducked into a dark corner and tapped her ears so she could listen in.

"Yes Professor I told Tom Riddle what I had done," Came a wasy sad voice, and Bella couldn't place who it was.

"It is alright, but I fear that was a grave mistake. It seems Voledmort has a purpose for your mother's diadem." Dumbledoor said.

Bella gripped her wand so tight in her hand that one of her knuckles burst open at the seam. He would dare speak his name! That filthy mudblood lover! She wished she knew enough magic to take on Dumbledoor himself and bring his lifeless body to her Dark Lord's feet, the dark mark on her arm prickly painfully at the thought. Her warm blood trickled down her hand and splashed on the floor. She looked down enjoying the pain in her hand and not bothering to heal herself. Bellatrix's brow furrowed as she listened further, who was he talking to? A diadem, what was that. She wished she had some parchment to write all this done so she wouldn't forget. Why was he talking about her Dark Lord and Tom Riddle, who in the bloody hell was that?

"T-tom, is he who must not be named?" Came the female's voice again.

Bellatrix's heart jumped into her throat, she didn't even believe that the Dark Lord had been human, and now she knew his name. She felt like she was going to faint as she held onto the wall for support.

"I would ask that you keep this conversation between us. These are trying times and we do not need a bigger panic on our hands." He asked. "I will bide you goodnight." She heard movement, and she wait a few beats before she moved form her hiding place. She peeked out and saw the Grey Lady floating away! They were talking about Rowena Ravenclaw! Bellatrix raced down to the Slytherin common room as fast as she could. She had to think about somethings.

Bellatrix made it back to the common room in record time. Tom Riddle, she kept repeating her head. The name bouncing around in her head like the happiest memory in her life. Even more so when she got her wand. She sat down in the arm chair in front of the fireplace, though the fire had long gone out. "Incendio" She said lazily directed the flames to the fireplace. The fire crackled to life as one of the logs broke in half. She finally relaxed into the arm chair, her usual grimace softly falling away. He was Tom Riddle. Her Dark Master had a name, and he was after Ravenclaw's diadem. She had heard some silly claws talking about it a few years ago but she never paid that much attention to it. Well she would get to the library straight away and find out everything about that stupid crown.

She wanted to find out more about Tom Riddle as well. She would need to get into the restricted section for that. She had a blessed smile on her face and she drifted off to sleep.

She awoke with a start. She heard chatting and it bothered. She jumped out her chair with her wand drawn. It scattered a group of girls how had been standing by the common room door. She stalked up to the bathrooms to wash herself up before she went down to breakfast. It was the weekend and she was grateful that she could spend all day int he library without having to worry about classes or anything. Plus there was a quidditch game and there wouldn't be anyone there to bother her.

She passed her sister in the hallway to the bathroom and Narcissa wouldn't look at her. Bellatrix puffed her chest out and glared at her. If she didn't understand the sacrifices that had to be made to serve the Dark Lord then she was a bigger fool than Bella thought and she wasn't about to explain her actions to her either. She threw her head back and continued on her way to the bathroom. She checked to make sure she was in there alone and she locked to door. She sat down on the green divan and rolled the sleeve of her robe up to examine her dark mark. The area around the enchanted tattoo was inflamed and bright red. She touched her cool finger to it and she yelped in pain. She rolled her sleeve back down and stood up to fix herself up a little bit. She looked in the mirror and she was a mess. She looked as she had been drug through the gutter. She had dried blood caked into her hair and on her cheek from her little duel with Severus last night. She sighed and stripped out of her clothes and walked over and stepped into the shower.

She hot water hitting her body made her shutter slightly. She felt the grim washing away down the drain as she soaped up and scrubbed every inch of her body. She hated feeling dirty, and this shower was what she needed right now. After she was down she brushed her long dark hair till it shined and she dressed quickly.

She could hear cheering and whooping coming from the pitch as she finally made it down to breakfast. Only a handful of students were still there. None of the Slytherins were there as they were playing Gryffindor today. If they won this game they would win the Quidditch cup, they were already so far head in the points that they were going to win the House Cup as well. She sat down at her usual spot and reached for some eggs and bacon. She hadn't eaten yesterday because she had been so nervous about meeting her master. Now she was utterly famished. She dove into her plate with gusto. Making a total pig of herself that she wouldn't have normally done, but she was just so hungry. She glanced up at the Ravenclaw table. The Grey Lady was sitting there along side another student with long blond hair that was tucked behind her ears with her wand behind one of her ears. Bellatrix's blood boiled looking at the total lock of respect for one's wand, but she repressed her rage. The girl was talking to that ghost that she overhead Dumbledore speaking to. She was going to go talk to that girl.

She watched as the girl continued chatting with the ghost. Bellatrix was done eating, but she didn't want to talk to that claw in the Great Hall. She drummed her fingers on the table waiting for her to finish. The girl obviously didn't watch Quidditch, the game had been going on for at least an hour. She almost gave up waiting for the girl when she finally stood up and skipped out of the Great Hall. Bellatrix jumped up and raced after her. That silly, skipping claw was fast! She caught up with her on the second floor she had her arms around another strange looking Hufflepuff. Bellatrix rolled her eyes, losers or a feather flocked together, she thought as she came up on the pair. They were hugging and whispering things in each other's ear. The girl had long flowing blond hair that went well past her waist. If she were a muggle she would have been a ballerina she seemed to graceful as she was twirled around th corridor listening to the music in her head. The girl had some strange flower pinned in a clip holding her hair back out of her face. The boy was wearing the thickest glasses Bella had ever seen.

He had dipped her and was leaning in to kiss her when she looked over and saw Bellatrix. "Stop it Xeno we have an audience." The girl's lyrical voice said as she giggled and blushed when she noticed Bellatrix was staring. The girl peered at Bellatrix with big blue eyes. "I do believe this is the first time I have had the pleasure to speak to a Slytherin." She continued babbling with a bright smile on her face. "I am Capella Boot and this is Xeno Lovegood." She introduced as if Bellatrix really cared. She held out her hand for Bellatrix to shake and Bella just stared at her hand as if it were covered in dragon dung. She withdrew her hand still with a smile on her face.

Bellatrix didn't have time to waste trying to get know either of them she frankly did not care. "Who as that ghost you were talking to in the Great Hall?" She asked abrutly.

"That was the Grey Lady of course," Capella answered as if she couldn't hear the harsh tone Bellatrix had taken with her.

"She is Rowena's daughter?" She asked again

"Oh bravo!" She clapped happily. "You know your Hogwarts history. Most people think she is Rowena herself. It is so lovely you have taken an interest in Madame Ravenclaw."

"I was wondering if you know what Rowena's diadem is?" She asked dropping her voice so it wouldn't carry down the corridor.

It was the boy Xeno who answered this time. "Have you never seen a painting of Rowena Ravenclaw?" He asked.

"Never had a reason to badger," Bellatrix spat with dangerous venom in her voice. She was losing her patience with the both of them.

"It is her tiara that she wears on her head that bestows the wearer with wit beyond measure." The girl said in a sing song voice. She skipped around the corridor a few times before she returned back to Xeno's side. "It has been lost for centuries though." She explained.

"Thank you," Bellatrix manged to get out before she turned on her heels and hurried away from the pair and headed toward the Slytherin common room to pick up her bag so she could take notes on the family trees when she went to the library to study. She had a lot of things to mull over and think about. Why on earth would Voldemort have cared about anything that a claw owned.

New reader! - I just found this, and it's so good! You've really captured the character of Bella. I love reading about her when she was younger, there aren't enough fics about her. PAMS!
