Hello there! This is Katie speaking, with another D/Hr fanfic! I haven't started a new on in awhile, so I figured I'd better stir up some drama! Takes place at Hogwarts, no specific year, blah blah blah....you know the drill. But what you don't know is...it's HERMIONE pining for Draco, not vise versa! So we'll see how it goes darlings!

It was a new school year...that meant new students, new classes....sometimes even new teachers. But Hermione didn't see it that way. School was an escape from the muggle world...and into her own.

So who could blame her when she woke at 8 am for the 11am train to Hogwarts? Not even her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Granger were setting up breakfast for the young witch when she entered the kitchen.

"Sleep well hon?" Her father asked her.

"Yes Dad. I'm so excited!" She sat down and scared down her breakfast. "I'm going to go do my hair."

"You can't fix that mop kitten." Her father called to her over a cup of coffee. Hermione rolled her eyes.

"Witch Dad...magic." And she flounced out. She stood in front of her mirror, wand in hand. She waved her wand once...twice...three times. Her hair straightened and shortened, leaving her with hair a little below the shoulder.

"Can't fix that mop kitten..." Hermione repeated her fathers words with a smile, and sat. She took out Hogwarts, A History and began to read, waiting for 10 so she could leave to go home.

In another hour, Hermione found herself standing in front of the barrier of Platform 9 and 3/4. She looked at her parents.

"Well....see you at Christmas." She gave her mother a hug.

"Write to us, we'll miss you." Her mother replied, and stifled some tears.

"Mom! We go through this every year!" Hermione said, exasperated.

"I know...doesn't mean it gets any easier." Hermione's father rolled his eyes.

"Just don't get into a lot of trouble kitten. And write if you get in trouble, so we can help." He hugged her as well, and rolled the trolley over to her. "Good luck."

"Bye Dad, bye Mum." She pushed the trolley and escaped the muggle world. Suddenly, the large Hogwarts Express loomed ahead of her. She kept walking, her smile broadening with every step. She was home.

"Hey Hermione, how was your vacation?" Ginny Weasley pushed her trolley next to her.

"It was alright. Got my summer assignments done. What about you?"

"Dean and I haven't stopped seeing each other. It's amazing." Ginny sighed. "He's really amazing. We went on a fishing trip, and despite what you may think, we had alot of fun."

"Sounds cool. How about that car?" Hermione led the way to a rather empty looking car. On the way, she bumped into another student.

"Oh, pardon me....oh, hello there." Hermione bumped into a rather tall, muscular student. His black hair was worn a little long, past his ears, almost to his shoulders. His black eyes were deep, and looked as if you could get lost in them. Suddenly, Hermione wanted to try.

"He-hello." Hermione stammered. "I'm sorry, I wasn't-I mean-"

He laughed. "That's alright. It's my fault. I was looking at something else. My name's Jordan." He held out his hand.

"Hermione." They shook hands. Ginny coughed. "And this is Ginny."

"Pleased." Ginny grasped his hand. "Hermione, we should get going, shouldn't we?"

"Right. Nice to have met you...Jordan." They left him, and found a compartment. Hermione heaved a sigh and sat down after putting her luggage away.

"So! Hermione does give the eye occasionally." Ginny teased and took the seat across from her.

"Leave it alone. He's just a guy." Hermione turned her head and looked out the window. "Where are Ron and Harry?"

"Oh, didn't you hear? Ron broke his leg. He's going to be a little late." Ginny said airily.

"I'd think you'd be rather more sympathetic for your brother." Hermione said rather shortly.

"Not really. Once you've heard one sob-story, you've heard them all. He's really been milking it, especially to Kit." Ginny made a face. Kit was Ron's new girlfriend, and they didn't exactly see eye-to-eye.

"Oh, just leave her alone Gin. She's nice." Hermione defended Kit. Ginny rolled her eyes.

"Whatever." The train jerked, and Hermione took out her book. They were off!

I'll finish later, I'm busy!

A little into the train ride, Hermione and Ginny were joined by none other than Harry, Ron....and Kit. Ron was thumping around on a pair of muggle crutches, and Kit was carrying both their luggage.

"Oof! There...Ron sit by the window, so you can stretch out your leg." Kit instructed. Ron eased himself down and put his leg up on the corrosponding seat.

"Hello to you too Kit." Ginny said sharpyl, moving so Ron's leg could get up. Kit turned around after putting up their luggage.

"Oh, hi Gin. How are you?"

"Been Better. Excuse me, but I think I have...somewhere else to be right now." She said icily, and left with a huff. Kit looked at Hermione.

"Was she like this before....or until I walked in?"

"A little of both. How's your summer been?" Hermione moved over to make room for Kit. She sat with a sigh.

"Running around for this oaf, what else? Seriously though, not that bad all in all. How was yours?"

"Dad took Mum and me to Paris again. It's getting more and more beautiful, as usual. How did you break your leg Ron?" Ron took a deep breath.

"Ah, my dearest Hermione....that is a tragic tale-"

"Can we get some wine to go with that cheese? Geez Ronald. He fell off the roof of their house." Kit said airily. Ron tried to glare at her, but ended up smiling.

"Guilty as charged." He threw up his hands. Hermione gave him a questioning look.

"What in the world were you doing on the roof of your house Ronald?"

"Fred and George have invented a pwoder that if you rub it on you, it'll give you ability to levitate for a short while. Well, I got it mixed up with my...erm, other powder." Ron's ears grew bright red. "Well, the rest is obvious."

"But...what were you doing on the roof in the first place?" Hermione asked again.

"Fixing a leak in the roof. Mum's been badgered me to do it for weeks. I tripped. At first I thought I was going to die, but then I kinda stopped falling. It was pretty good. I started to fly down, then it stopped working. Good thing I was only 10 feet from the ground." Ron mimed wiping sweat from his forehead.

"And Mrs. Weasley's wand was broken at the time, so she couldn' fix it." Harry said.

"Even if it weren't, she's not very good at fixing broken bones. She probably would have gone straight to one of her Lockhart books, and we all know what a genius he is." Kit said rolling her eyes. Harry raised his arm and pretended it had no bones.

"Yes, we're all aware of his failings." Hermione said. "Are we almost there? Can you see the castle?" She looked out the window.

"Trying to change the subject, are we? Could we still love Lockhart, deep down?" Ron started to bat his eyelashes. "Oh Gilderoy!"

Hermione glared at him and took out her wand. Ron stopped mocking her and making kissing noises at once.

"LOOK! Hogwarts!" Harry pointed out the window in relief. Hermione put away her wand. Ron let out a breath of relief. Kit stood up and took their robes out of their trunks.

"C'mon people, another year to be had!" Hermione pulled her robes over her head, and quick stepped out to use the train rest room. Sudenly, she bumped into someone.

"Oof! Excuse me....Granger?" Drat. Draco Malfoy. Hermione started to glare, then stopped. When did he get so muscular? What happened to the snivelling coward last year? She spent a whole minute lookeing at him, not even listening to his rant about mudbloods.

".....I'm ready to have you expelled, you filthly....what on earth are you staring at?" Hermione jerked her eyes up to meet his grey ones....could she detect a hint of blue in there?

"Do you have flecks of blue in your eyes?" Hermione interrupted him.

"Yes....wait, why are you asking me this? Just get out of my way." He gave her a curious look before he left. Hermione stared after him...then slapped herself.

"OW!" She yelped, then shook her head. She walked back to her compartment still wondering about his eyes.

Hermione managed to keep herself under control for the rest of the train ride, and the beginning of the feast. She was able to manage a conversation with several people, and didn't spill her food. At the end of the feast, she conducted herself well, bringing her body to her dorm, and sliding into bed. Only then did she allow herself to think about what happened with Draco and the train.

Wait....did she just think of Malfoy as Draco?

"I did...." She murmed to herself. "Just now, I called him Draco."

"Wha....'Mione, get to sleep." Ginny groaned, rolling over in her bed. Hermione turned and lay on her back, looking at the ceiling.

"Draco....Draco Malfoy....Malfoy Draco....Mraco Dalfoy....." She muttered, and fell asleep reciting different ways of saying his name.

She met Ginny downstairsin the Great Hall, Ginny munching on a muffin.

"Done talking in your sleep? You never used to do it." Ginny commented. Hermione gave a start.

"I don't talk in my sleep." She denied, and reached for the bacon. Ginny rolled her eyes.

"Of course! How silly of me. The house-elves had a party in our dorm, and they invited Draco Malfoy. How silly! Disregard." Ginny grinned at Hermione.

"Why would they invite Draco? I mean Malfoy? Gin, you're being ridiculous."
Hermione snapped at Ginny. The grin on her face was gone, and a raised eyebrow replaced the rolled eyes.

"Hermione, I'm just asking you to quit talking in your sleep. It's very unnerving. And while your at it, stop thinking about Malfoy." Ginny got up and walked over to the Ravenclaw table before Hermione could retort.

"Tough night sleeping?" Kit came over and snagged some toast off Hermione's plate. Hermione put her hand on her head.

"I'm not sleeping funny! Why does everyone think that?"

"Words gets round fast. Also heard you were dreaming about Malfoy? Is that a lie too?" Kit asked seriously. Hermione gave her a Look. "Just asking."

"Kit, I'm NOT having trouble sleeping, and if I am, it's because Malfoy IS in my dreams, ok?" Kit laughed.

"Alright, you convinced me. Now, hurry up. We've got to get to Potions."

"Potions?" Hermione gagged into her orange juice.

"Did I say we have to go to Potions? Silly me, maybe I'm not sleeping properly." Kit teased. Hermione threw a muffin at her.

Things were going pretty smoothly until the lights went out. After the classes had let out, Peeves had taken it upon himself to put out all the candles in the castle, resulting in a massive blackout. At that time, Malfoy was serving detention, and so was Hermione.

It appears, my dear readers, that Hermione and Malfoy were arguing about the proper way to recite a spell. Very trivial, is it not? However, it was severe enough to land both of them in detention...in the dungeons. McGonagal had had enough.

"I can't believe the two of you! Miss Granger, you're the Top Student! I expect better of you! And you, Mr. Malfoy, contain yourself otherwise, you shall find yourself looking for another school to go to."

That was the speech McGonagal gave them. That was 20 minutes ago. 10 minutes later, they were cleaning Snape's dungeons for classes tomorrow. 5 minutes later, they were arguing. 4 minutes and 40 seconds later, they were close to blows.

"I hate you Malfoy!" Hermione yelled at him.

"Well, you're no basket of roses either!" Malfoy shouted at her. "You filthy mudblood, how DARE you talk to me that way! You ought to be put in your place!"

"And what IS my place, dare I ask?" Hermione scoffed at him, eyes blazing. "Working like a house elf for a pureblood like yourself?"

"I wouldn't accept your services even if they were free!" Draco's face was turning red. "And as for-"

Just then, the lights went out.
