Chapter 8: Baby, baby
Two hours later at 10:30 the two lovers got their cloaks and walked into the nearest village town.
“That song you were singing, where‘s it from?” he asked as they made their way into the town.
“Dirty Dancing.” she said simply.
“Huh?”
“A Muggle film. Honestly, it‘s one of the best films you‘ll ever see.” she said.
She spotted a baby shop and dragged him inside.
“Hey, careful Mione.” he said, avoiding a young mum and dad with a baby in
the pram exiting the shop.
She picked out different coloured baby grows, clothes and winter wear for the twins.
She moved over to the dresses and summer wear.
“Mione, be calm.” Cedric said, moving to the bottles, pacifiers etc.
“I‘m sorry.” she pouted.
After four excruciating hours and what seems to be two million bags to
Cedric, they both apparated home.
“Mione, why do we need so much stuff?” Cedric whined.
“They are coming in four months time. We need to decorate their room,
assemble the furniture.” she said.
“We’ll get it done. Don‘t worry.” he said and hugged her.
“Majesty. Mrs Molly Weasley, Mr and Mrs Malfoy and Mr Harry Potter are here
to see you.” Jaime said, and led the couple into the sitting room.
“Ginny!” Hermione squealed.
“Mione!” Ginny squealed back and both girls ran to each other and hugged each other.
Harry and Cedric glared at each other.
Draco looked on as his wife and her friend caught up.
“What happened?” Ginny asked.
“Everything.” Hermione said.
“Elaborate?”
Hermione explained everything of the Princess lessons, the people and her day to day life. She left out her illness.
As she had finished explaining, Ginny’s mouth hung open.
“All this is what you’re subjected to? Gosh they must be like vultures!” Ginny giggled.
“You learn to deal with it.” Hermione laughed.
“Heard from Viktor yet?” Ginny asked.

Hermione shook her head. “I still can‘t get over the fact that I snogged, felt romantic feelings and wanted to bed him in fourth year! He‘s my cousin!”
The pair giggled.
“So how‘s your life been?” Hermione asked.
“Good, kind of.” Ginny said.
“How do you mean?”
“Having children doesn‘t seem to be on mine and Draco‘s side. We‘re able to have them, but we put our child to bed, we wake up the next morning and they‘re dead.” Ginny said, looking to the floor. “We’re having twins in four months, but what if they die like their sister did last year?”
“How did she die?”
“Cot death.” Ginny said.
“Try them lying on their backs.” Hermione suggested. “And Cedric and I are expecting twins in four months too.”
“Congratulations.” Ginny smiled.
“Likewise.” Hermione smirked. Both girls hugged and walked back to Cedric, Harry, Draco and Molly.

Chapter 9: Months go on
A few months later, Hermione and Ginny were walking through the palace grounds.
During the three months, Ginny and Draco had moved into the small family cottage next to the palace, much to Molly’s objections.

The Floo Network was linked to the Burrow from the palace and the cottage.
‘One month to go…’ Hermione thought.
She coughed furiously into her periwinkle handkerchief, glad that no blood had come up yet. But she had begrudgingly remembered it would later.

“Hermione!” she heard Cedric call.
“In the garden with Ginny!” she called back.
“Tell her that her mum‘s shouting- no- SCREECHING for her through the Floo Network!” his voice sounded in laughter.
“Be right there!” Ginny laughed.
“I‘ll wait here.” Hermione said.
Ginny nodded and ran back to the palace as fast as her swollen feet and heavily pregnant stomach would allow her.
About fifteen minutes later, Ginny waddled back to Hermione.
“What did she want?” Hermione asked.
“Checking if the babies are alright. They aren‘t even here yet and she‘s asking.”
Hermione giggled. “Merlin help you when they DO come.”
“Yeah.” Ginny laughed. “Careful, she‘ll come after you too.”
Hermione’s mouth hung open in mock, sarcastic shock. “She wouldn‘t.”
“She would.” Ginny giggled.
Hermione was about to retort, but a sharp pain stabbed her in the stomach like a six inch knife, and she fell to the floor clutching her stomach where her twins lay.
Ginny shrieked in shock. “Hermione!!”
Cedric and Draco heard Ginny shriek and ran to her.
Cedric held on to Hermione. She screamed in pain, gripping on to Cedric’s shirt.
As if in sync with Hermione, pain ripped through Ginny, she too collapsed to the floor, out of Draco’s arms.
He knelt on the floor to her and held her whilst Cedric still held on to Hermione.
Jaime rushed to their aid after hearing both women scream. She paled whiter than Draco had been in his youth.
She rushed back to the palace to Floo a Healer, within moments she reappeared near the group of four with both womens’ Healers.
Hermione and Ginny were rushed to the Bulgarian St Mungo’s to the Maternity Ward.
Cedric and Draco followed soon after.
Hermione was rendered unconscious because of the pain.
Ginny just gripped on to Draco’s hand, almost crushing every bone in his hand.
His hand had gone numb after a while.
Cedric watched over Hermione’s twitching body.
Her body twitched with every contraction she had.
The healers felt they had to perform an emergency Muggle Caeserian Section on Hermione for fear there may be complications with the twins.
Ginny was going to go through a natural birth.
Draco was dreading every second of it, Ginny’s screams may leave him slightly deaf.
Cedric was worrying if his love and his children were going to make it.

Hours passed until the healers were able to allow Ginny to begin the birthing process, and the healers were having to rush Hermione to an operating theatre to perform a Caesarian Section on her.
When the healers discovered the twins inside Hermione, they were about to lift them from her, but a young apprentice Healer, no older that sixteen spotted the cord wrapped twice around one of the child's necks. | |

She cautiously lifted the other baby from Hermione, and called for another Healer to help her release the baby from the cord.
Cedric, stuck behind the door as he wasn't permitted to be with Hermione, he looked through the glass window, worried.
The Healers crowded around Hermione and the young Healer.
They proceeded to cut at the cord slowly and carefully without cutting the baby.
"She's going!" the young Healer called out in distress as she heard the life machine beep to show that Hermione's life was indeed slipping away.
The Healers managed to cut away the cord from the baby's neck, a couple of them took the child to a seperate table to resusitate it.
The rest of the Healers tried to regain Hermione's deteriating health.
Cedric looked on, worried through the window, but he couldn't hear a thing as they had sound proofed the room.
He looked around, helpless, looking for that friendly face that he knew would never show.
He saw a Healer look sadly down at Hermione.
"No..." Cedric whispered. "She has to live..."
The Healers continued to regain her heartbeat, while the young Healer began to stitch up the wound they had to make for the babies.
No sooner had she finished had Hermione jolted back to life.
The Healers looked on astonished.
An hour later, once they were sure she was perfectly fine, they took her back to the maternity ward, to a room where all the new mothers had been taken.
Hermine noticed Ginny's place next to her bed was empty, and grew worried for her friend.
Cedric came running through to her her and hugged her tightly, and she returned it.
A Healer, Healer Shelley walked in, carrying two bundles of blankets in her arms and handed them to Hermione.
"The birth went well, but due to a small complication, your little boy will need to have his breathing monitored for a few months up to a year, maybe more." Healer Shelley said.
"Why?" Hermione asked.
"He had the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck twice, almost certainly strangling him."
"No!" Hermione gasped. She looked over to Cedric, who was equally shocked and scared.
Suddenly, Ginny was wheeled in, though she was still being resussitated.
Draco looked helpless as he was subjected to watch the woman that was his life fighting for her own.
"Ginny..." Hermione whispered.
After a further ten minutes the Healers gave up.
Draco looked on, tears began to fall from his eyes.
All of a sudden, Ginny started breathing, small gasps for breath escaping her lips. Her eyes fluttered open, but those brown orbs looked at Draco without a glimmer or a diamond sparking in her eyes. The dead look in her eyes scared him.
Healer Shelley quickly walked out and hurried back with a potion, murky green in colour, and she sliped it into Ginny's open mouth.
Five excruciating minutes later, Ginny turned on her side, curled up and started coughing and throwing up.
Draco moved to her instantly.
"Mrs Malfoy." Healer Shelley said.
When Ginny had finished, she lay back on the bed and looked at her.
"Like Miss Granger's baby boy, your little girl had been caught with the cord wrapped around her, only instead of the neck, she nearly lost her foot." Healer Shelley said.
"B...but she's fine?" Ginny asked.
Healer Shelley nodded.
"Thank Merlin..." Ginny breathed with relief. "What about my other baby?"
"He's fine too." Healer Shelley said.
Draco didn't loosen his grip on Ginny.
Ginny put her arm out, Hermione grasped her friend's hand and smiled at her as Ginny's twins were handed to her.
