Hi, this is my first fan fic. So I hope you guys like it! Tell me what you think when you've read it!

Give IN and Give Up.

The whole setup was fake. The cucumber sandwiches and strawberry and vanilla cupcakes were over the top and the whole time everyone sat smiling, crossed leg and almost peeling in the summer heat. I smiled, even the flibbergibit was sitting pretty, although his tie was loose and his shoes weren’t shined. My parents mingled with the crowd totally unaware to my utter discomfort, not that they usually noticed it.

The Black House wasn’t one for entertainment being a lanky shack in Upper London, so they had rented a large country house in Scotland to allow for a larger crowd. The house didn’t really keep with the Dark Lord ties instead being a warm cream colored home with several polite and unwary muggle servants and housekeepers.

Regulus glanced my way and I returned the look with a cold glare which he returned smugly. Oh-did he think he was smart? Wow, clap clap for the handicap. He made a half decent comeback. Let’s give him a medal eh? I rolled my eyes. My dress clung to my skin like plastic cling wrap, although I consented myself a little appraisal at not wearing makeup in the one clear day Scotland ever had.

I walked over to the table where little Tonks was playing with the vinegrette. She dunked her hand all the way to her wrist into the dark substance swirling it around, laughing gleefully. I felt jealous, here she was totally unaware and childish her hair changing colours imitating her expressions. Her mother, Adromeda swooped up and picked up her daughter laughing into her hair muttering into her ear making Tonks giggle. Adromeda winked at me before returning to the crowd of people she had been talking to.

Behind me, I felt a hand slide across my back and I didn’t even have to ask when I realised it was Sirius. The sleek black hair and gold ear ring clipped to his right ear was an easy target for swooning 16 year olds which he thoroughly publicized mind you. Try as he might I was not going to fall under his gaze which by the way didn’t last long. He took a plate and chucked on a couple of sandwiches and pieces of fruit. He tried not to look like he was hovering, but it was obvious he was bored and had no one to talk to. I felt sympathetic because it wasn’t like I was exactly having a ball of a time at this Slytherin-fest.

“So, Kinnon how’s it going, found yourself a boyfriend yet?” I sighed. It’s like he still didn’t get it.
“Look Sirius, so we’ll pretend to be all happy-friendly, but never assume you can ask about my romantic life, yeah?” He looked a little hurt and I felt mean. It wasn’t like he was as insufferable as Peter who was constantly trying to not be third wheel and randomly disappeared at times, or as totally strange as Remus who made it look like men had PMS but it was his cocky comments and his hovering around me that annoyed me.

I suddenly realised that the whole assembly was looking at us, smiling and whispering. It was common knowledge the Black’s wanted their son to marry a pureblood girl but I hadn’t considered that our futile friendship at these wretched events would count for anything. Every time the pureblood aristocrats threw these tedious events my parents were invited as if they were trying to tell the world that they did socialize with normal un-deatheater people.

Sirius looked around and grimaced; all of a sudden he grabbed my hand and started sprinting towards the house. He almost yanked my shoulder out of its socket. I felt my face go red and the crowd started to talk and mingle again. I expected him to pull me up the stairs but instead he yanked me towards the large paddocks out to the left. The rolling hills and deep dark green grass just made me want to slip of my shoes and roll down…..so I did. Sirius stopped and looked out onto the villages towards the east but I slipped off my moccasins and undid my hat clasp letting my wavy hair free. Sirius laughed, it was more of a bark and shook his head.

It was easy just to let go and have fun. Sirius walked down slowly breathing in the fresh country air. I stopped halfway down the hill and sat down falling like a sack of potatoes onto the hot ground. He soon joined me and we just sat, watching the land. It was a moment before I realised that I was sitting next to Sirius Black and it had happened all over again. I sighed. It was so difficult. Every single time Walburga threw these parties it was usually so Narcissa and Lucius could flaunt there proposed marriage or so Bellatrix and Rodolphus could thoroughly publicise their everlasting romance. I turned to look back at the party with a look of disgust.

Sirius noticed my movement and turned too.
“Same old, same old.” I smirked. He knew me too well-or as well as he thought he did…
“I swear the day they graduate my mother will throw the biggest little engagement for her little nieces. She adores Bella and Cissi, they’re her angels” I smiled.
“Your brother seems to be melting the butter too.” He smirked.
“I’ve been compelled from birth to just ignore it, it’s better for them.” I looked to the floor. Sirius wasn’t exactly family pet. I knew that his family thoroughly abused him but he kept that to himself, but it didn’t take a genius to figure that his family didn’t like him. But then what was to like? He was the first Gryffindor in a pureblood purist family. He associated with half-bloods, pures and people like me, as they called “blood traitors”.

This is great Aleks!!! I love Sirius and believe me I would not just be sitting there talking to him!!! Your girl has a lot of self control!!!!

Hello Again, I need some new readers. So here you go!

Sirius looked longingly out at the hills across which Scottish Hills.
“I want to go” he said suddenly. I didn’t need to ask.
“Where are you going to go, I don’t think your parents will give you a little ‘goodbye and good luck’ package with a little bit of money for “a rainy day.” Sirius smiled and I half-smiled.
“You know I have my own account at Gringotts. As soon as I come of age I can access it. “
“Sirius, you’re not of age for another…..9 months.” I calculated and he shrugged.

The silence passed and we just sat watching the blue skies and gorgeous rolling hills. I was actually a little surprised, he seemed all most mature and…normal. After a while he said;
“I could go to James’, his parents don’t mind me being around” His face was tense and downcast.
“You ‘kay?”
“Yeah just thinking” I laughed and couldn’t resist.
“Well don’t hurt yourself” He shook his head and smiled.
“You just couldn’t help yourself could you? Cliché much?”
“Aw, love is a cliché” Sirius looked a little stunned at that remark but refrained from sayng anything

We sat for what seemed like an eternity before Sirius had to ruin it with his annoying personality, just when I thought he was becoming more mature.
“M’Kinnon, have you ever been in a relationship” His eyes glinting with humour. It didn’t surprise me, his personality was as rude and as in-your-face as ever. I just rolled my eyes.
“Yes. But I didn’t make it my personal mission to have one with the entire male population of Hogwarts” I got up without looking back and started walking back to the party. I felt a little saddened. It was always like this. Our relationship was merely due to the fact that our families entertained together. My parents always felt like the third-wheel at these events but they went because they thought it “extremely impolite” if they didn’t go.

Sirius jogged up to me a smile playing at his lips.
“Oh come on Marra! Get off your high heel and have some fun! Were in our last year at Hogwarts and seriously you need to get out more.”
I grinned evily.
“And how did you know I’m not getting out?” Sirius mock chocked.
“Sorry? Miss Perfectionist-pretty-smart-tall-auror to be-geek you’re getting out?”
“I’ve been in more relationships than you Mr. Black”
“Frigid relationships..” I looked at him wide eyed but curiously enjoying another of our fights.
“Just because I don’t date several people at once and get into his pants the first minute we meet”
Sirius tried to look serious but couldn’t help laughing.
“Is that what you think? That I’m school player?” He was almost keeling over he was laughing so hard. I was trying not to laugh since I was trying to keep my cool but it wasn’t working.
“Well aren’t you? There’s like all these um…rumours going around that you have actually slept with 75% of the Hogwarts female population and have a running tally of how many you’ve slept with James” Sirius eye’s widened for a second before he said:
“That’s funny because apparently you did it with Benjamin Brown” I stood shocked.
“He walked me to class ONCE!!!!” Sirius shrugged and ran up the steps to the house.
“Last ones there’s a rotten kneazle” I shook my head and sprinted up after him. It amazed me still how quickly he changed from subject to subject.
