"Mione, I'm sorry I ignored you." Harry said and hugged her.

"It's fine." Hermione said, hugging him. She broke apart from him and leaned over to her daughter who was lying in her basket.

"Thought of a name yet?" Harry asked.

'I still can't believe I dated my cousin! Ew!! Incest!' she thought.

"No, we have to though. Can't keep calling her baby all her life can I?" she giggled.

Harry laughed. "No."

"Why isn't Ron here?" she asked.

"Still brainwashed by the two girls. I stopped listening to them when I saw you in pain a few days ago." he said.

Hermione nodded and looked distant.

Cedric walked into the Hospital Wing and straight to Hermione.

"Hey, Mione." He said, ignoring Harry.

She grinned and hugged him. She kissed his neck gently.

"Thought of a few names yet?" he asked, sitting up and running his fingers through her hair.

"Kirsten?" she suggested. "Just thought of it."

Cedric shrugged.

"Amethyst?"

"How about both?" he asked.

"Kirsten Amethyst or Amethyst Kirsten?"

"Amethyst Kirsten sounds good." he said and smiled. He looked down at Amethyst and gently tickled her. He received giggles from her.

She looked up at her parents and blew tiny spit bubbles.

"She's so adorable." Hermione said. "I want her to have your name, Cedric."

"Only if you're sure." he told her.

"I am."

Madame Pomfrey walked over to them. "Have a name for her yet?" she asked.

"Amethyst Kirsten Diggory." Hermione said proudly.

Chapter 6: Cedric's offer and Hermione's recovery.

"Are you sure you want to do this, Mr Diggory? It could be risky." Pomfrey asked, setting out the operating equipment for the two St Mungo's healers/surgeons.

"Risky or not. I want to save the girl I love." he said determinedly.

Chapter 6: Cedric's offer, Hermione's recovery

Over the past month, Hermione came to depend on dialysis a little less at a time. and was eating a little bit more, but it still looked as thought she'd hardly eaten.

"Have you seen Cedric?" Hermione asked Blaise. "He's got a day off today and was supposed to take Amethyst to his parents."

"No, I haven't, sorry 'Mione." Blaise lied.

*In the Hospital Wing*

"Are you sure you want to do this, Mr Diggory? It could be risky." Pomfrey asked, setting out the operating equipment for the two St Mungo's healers/surgeons.

"Risky or not. I want to save the girl I love." he said determinedly.

*Back to Hermione, Blaise and baby*

"I'll just have to take her with me to Astronomy. Don't get me wrong, I trust everyone in our group including you, but I don't want to leave her with anyone but Cedric because -"

"For protection reasons I know." Blaise said, smiling.

Hermione smiled back. "I haven't offended you have I?" she added, worried.

"No. Baby's number one priority." He told her. "Come on. Arithmancy has been moved with Astronomy Tower, I'll walk you there."

“You’ve done too much already for Cedric and I.” she said.

“Rubbish. You can never do too much for a friend.” He told her.

She smiled and walked to the Astronomy/Arithmancy Tower with Blaise.

“I’ll see you later.” Hermione said.

Blaise nodded and they parted to their classes.

Hermione settled Amethyst in her arms.

The hour went by slowly, Amy crying most of the time.

She walked out of the room and walked to the Great Hall with Blaise.

Even then Cedric wasn't there.

"Cedric!" Hermione muttered exasperatedly.

Amy looked up at her mother, her soft grayish hazel eyes looking directly at her.

"Daddy's not here again, love. I wonder if he's had a lot to catch up on with school work ... and that's why he hasn't been." she whispered to the little girl and walked to the Slytherin Table, ignoring Harry as he approached.

Harry walked to the Slytherin Table to Hermione.

"Hermione what are you doing?" he asked.

No response. Only Amy cooing and giggling as Pansy tickled her.

"Hermione, what are you doing?" he asked again.

Pretending she didn't hear him she turned to him. "Sorry?"

"What are you doing?!" he asked, getting annoyed.

"Ignoring you like you ignored me when I needed you!!" Hermione said, conjuring a bottle of milk and started to feed Amy.

"I said sorry!! What else do you want me to do!? Isn't it enough!!" Harry asked, raising his voice.

Hermione put a silencing charm on Amy's ears so she didn't get scared.

"Don't raise your voice in front of my baby or to me, Harry!!! You left! You cast me aside like something broken and no use!! You HAD THE CHOICE to back away from the two leeches but you and Ron took them! Them over your best friend of five years- your DYING best friend might I add? Where were you when Cedric left? Where were you when I got pregnant and needed someone?! Too busy in a dark corner with Lavendar bloody Brown!" Hermione shouted.

The majority of the Hall turned to watch conflict happen between the two ex-best friends.

Hermione glared at him and turned her back on him once again and took the charm from Amy's ears.

"Pansy." Hermione said, having calmed down.

Pansy looked up to her. "What is it?" she asked.

"Will you be Amy's godmother and protector if anything -Merlin forbid- should happen to Cedric and I?" she asked.


"Yeah of course I will! Who wouldn't want to?" she grinned.


"I want to be her auntie! Seeing as you said I was the sister you never had." Ginny pouted.


Hermione giggled. "Yes ok. Draco can be her uncle too if he wants."


"Yay! Thank you!" she said and hugged Hermione.


Both girls laughed and Hermione set the empty bottle on the table. She lay Amy on her front, resting her head on her shoulder and started rubbing her back to bring up trapped wind.


Cedric walked in and walked to the Slytherin Table and covered Hermione's eyes with his hands.

"Diggory!" she called out and tured to see him.

"Hey baby." he grinned sweetly.

Hermione smiled and lay Amy back in her arms when she brought up wind and shuffled over for Cedric.

"Where've you been? I've been looking everywhere for you to take Amy." she said.

"I had to do something. Sorry, love." he apologized hugging her.

"Do what?" she asked.

"That's a surprise." he said and winked at Pansy, but Hermione caught him.

"Pleaaaase!" she pouted.

"No, you'll have to wait and see." he told her as Madame Pomfrey walked over to them.

"Miss Granger?" she said.

Hermione looked up to her. "Yes?"

"We've found doners for you."

"Who are they?" Hermione asked.

"There's only one. And that's Mr Diggory." she told the teenager.

"Cedric?" she turned back at him.

"Surprise." he grinned sheepishly at her.

"C-Ced... I can't accept this... I-it's too much ..." she said, tears coming to her eyes. She blinked furiously.

"You can. I don't want you to die, and neither does Amy." he told her gently.

He took her in his arms as two tears made a graceful train down her face.

"This is great. You'd get a longer time to live." Pansy said.

"Yeah, more time with Amy and Ced." Ginny and Draco said.

"But Cedric's life is reduced now ... It's not fair." she whispered.

"I'll have loads of time left. So will you." he said.

She thought for a moment.

"Ok ... I'll do it." she said finally.

Her group of friends, the nurse and Cedric all breathed a sigh of relief, and he and Hermione follwed Madame Pomfrey to the Hospital Wing where the St Mungo's surgeons were waiting to perform the operation.
