Hermione Discussion #6: Trio

Everyone knows of the trio: Harry, Ron and our beloved book-loving Hermione. Discuss here your theories on the relationships of these three characters and how they winded up together. All SS rules apply of course.

I love this topic. (tried right now so won't go overboard just yet)

I think that Hermione is the only girl in the trio because she can handle so much, and the major things that happened in the SS's begginging she was a part of. The midnight duel, troll/bathroom, etc.

I think they are friends because they all went through a lot in their first year. And if you watch the movie, you kinda notice that no one seems to want to be their friends. So they became each others friends. And its lasted for 6 years (soon to be 7!).

With Hermione in the trio, it usally brings perspecive to the group. If it was just boys, they all would think that same and there would be no new ideas.

Like in the OotP Hermione is the one who the insight on girls where as Ron and Harry are like Duh..........what next?

She also being smarter beings something sence into things, like Ron is ready to blame Krum for everything (GoF) but Hermione brings common sence into the picture (that and she liked Krum).

She is what keeps the trio together at times. and when they fought in the PoA, I think had she not gotten that cat, then they (trio) would have figured out things sooner. Like Harry and Ron would know that Lupin was a werewolf when Hermione was like "Off." or something like that.

I think with trio the three of them are perfect of friends and they would do anything to help each other.The trio is like unbreakable!lol, but anyway it just great for all three to be the close of friends.

I think they are friend because Harry and Ron became friends and Harry started being her friend but Ron either didn't like her or had a crush on her and that's why they helped her in the bathroom, and once that has happend and the three headed dog, you kinda become friends

they are great friends!!! And now they have become closer friends with Luna, Ginny & Neville.

It seems to me that Hermione, Harry, and Ron were sort of just drawn together. I mean, Harry and Ron met almost right off the bat at Platform 9 3/4, and hit it off pretty well. But then comes Hermione, I can really think of no other reason why she would grace herself with those two dolts, except for the fact that she must have saw some hidden potential in them.

^ That and she probably thought that being with them would help Gryffindor to not get in trouble much

Harry, Ron & Hermione ended up friends because they all balance each other out so well. Since Hermione is so friggin' smart, she balances out the slackers that the other two boys are. Plus, even though the boys didn't like her at first, after what they went through together with the troll, they were bound to be besties! She is the only girl mature enough to handle all of the things Harry was bound to have to go through. She is a loyal, trustworthy friend. That is the role that Hermione plays in the golden trio.

Agreed with above - they do balance each other out well.

Also, owing to Hermione's brains and lack of interest in typical girly things (fasion, make-up, boys etc., things discussed by Lavender and Parvati, really), it seems alsmot natural for her to get along with boys better.

Although her brains and know-it-all manner are intimidating and annoying at the beginning, the adventure with the troll allows the Harry and Ron to see the real Hermione, courage and loyalty, hiding under all her bookiness.

I think that the boys learn to admire her qite fast, and greatly appreciate her intelligence. Throughout the series, as they go through more perilous adventures together, her loyalty, honesty and courage rivals their own, and so the Trio grows closer.

Hermione is the one who keeps them all together. I mean, look at what happened in GoF - they boys fell out, but she wouldn't give up on their friendship, and tried as hard as she could to have them put aside thier differences.

She helped them through all the difficult tasks and in fighitng Voldemort, and, as dancerbook mentioned, stopped them from getting into as much trouble as they otherwise would have (think about CoS; they got caught with the car when they were alone, without Hermione. I'm sure that were she there, she would have found a better solution to thier problem at Platform 9 3/4). She's the one who stopped Harry and Ron from getting expelled from Hogwarts on many occasions, too.

All in all - she's Hermione Granger, one of the Golden Trio

Truly agree with you. Hermione is a very essential and prominent of the other two, even if the story mainly focused on Harry it was Hermione who helped him a lot of times before. Right from the first part to the seventh Hermione could be found on the pages were Ron's name was missing. Though I don't want to say Ron's useless or something, he is also a good one, the fun in the trio mainly comes from him, thats what he is liked for. Hermione being one of the trio makes the story and adventures wonderful the the trio. Hermione shows true signs of solidarity and loyality. The trio rock!

If we take a bird's view and look at the books,we can understand that all the three were curious about what was going around them.I think it is this curiousity which brought them together...
