Hermione Discussion #5: Hogwarts

We all know Hermione is muggle-born and was brought up this way. Why then would she choose to give up her ordinary muggle-life to become a witch? A life she could never tell any of her muggle-friends or relatives? Discuss your theories here.

I think hermione kinda never fitted in when she was in muggle shcool, so something different was welcomed

I think Hermione did this because when she got her letter, she learned that she had powers. And maybe she wasnt accepted by muggles her age. So she went to Hogwarts hoping to make friends, learn how to use her magic, and fit in with people like herself.

well,i think tht hermione knew her future was never 2 be in d muggle world..
so tht's why,she wanted 2 go 2 hogwarts...
she had a choice 2 accept d letter fr dumbledore or not..
also,D sent d letter 2 a muggle family like hers n lily evans as D knew these 2 witches had great potential..v powerful despite their backgrounds..
in fact,hermione is way more powerful than any in her yr even if she's muggleborn..maybe even more powerful than those fr other yrs n hses.

so,she knew a secret like this had 2 b kept n she's ready 2 do so..of cuz,she has Harry...but,why hermione would do so much 4 him..is something only ms rowling can answer...she's putting her life etc all in risk...aren't her parents sayin anything..do they know??

i believe hermione made d right choice to go 2 hogwarts..n to be a witch..
only d death of harry may make her leave tht life..

I think Hermione follows her heart and welcome her fate as a witch. I think she is keeping things from her parents and they must be worried about her. Hermione is a unique lady that, in my opinion, did the right thing.

I also think that she was kinda an outcaste at normal school (if she went) and to go to a school where she would be "welcomed" was a nice thought.

Hermione was proabaly a really smart person, and most of the time if you are extra smart and there aren't any other "nerds" then you are an outcaste. When she got her letter, she probably way like: "Yes!!!!!!!!!!"

I think it was because she porobably didn't fit in with muggles as she was so smart and maybe she was teased and a muggle school before going to Hogwarts and thought that maybe Hogwarts would get her away from that not relizing some people (nameingly the Malfoys) think muggle-borns shouldn't be allowd, that then relates to why she is so smart.....

Im glad muggle borns are allowed at Hogwarts, if not there might have been no muggle born hermione

I don't think Hermione was going to pass up an opportunity to discover an entire new world out there. I mean, think of all the new book possibilites. haha. I also think that she may not have fit in very well in the muggle world, but here she could get a fresh start.

I thought that Hermione would actually end up working at Hogwarts

I think that maybe Hermione never really fit in in the non-magical world, being such a bookworm, and she probably was a little like Harry, being able to do certain things but not knowing why you could, or how it was even possible, when an explanation came, it wouldn't be something I would want to miss! But I like to think that she was an opportunist, when she saw a great opportunity, she took it, even if she had to leave behind friends and family for a while, she knew that it would be such a great opportunity to come to Hogwarts.

I think that possibly she had some type of powers showing, you know like Colion. So when she was offered to go to Hogwarts she took it right away

Throughout the series we notice Hermione's natural curiosity to everything around her, the dozens of questions she has proves this theory. When she recieved the letter from Hogwarts, she was given the chance to see a whole new world, learn about it, live in it. I think that her natural curiosity would not have allowed her to throw such an opportunity away.

She knew that she would be taken as someone who is unusual in the muggle world.So people would prefer to stay away from a 'witch'.She knew that her life would ve been lonely if she had preffered to live in the muggle world..I think so..
