Hermione as a Muggle?!

We all know Hermione recieved her Hogwarts letter and jumped at the chance to become a witch. But how would life be different for our lovable Gryffindor girl if she had chosen to stay normal? What would Hermione be doing if she had decided to remain a muggle and not attend Hogwarts? Post your thoughts and ideas here.

No doubt she would of got into all the best Muggle school on a full scholarship and I believe she would of made a great Doctor but I do not think she would of been happy to be a muggle, look at all the fun she would of missed out on and I also don't think she would of found friends anywhere else like Ron and Harry.

I agree, I think she would've gotten all A* on her GCSEs followed by all As on her A levels. Then she would've been accepted into any universtiy she wanted including Cambridge and Oxford. It wouldn't surprise me though if she didn't come across magic when she was older though, since magic was in her blood, I think she would've had at least one child with magic inside them. She would've made a really good teacher, she has patience and the knowledge to be one.

She'd certainly retain her position as top of the class, I think. She would score tops on all her exams... but she'd be considered a know-it-all, a nerd. somehow, I doubt she'd find the sort of friends she did at Hogwarts - she'd be the outcast, the different one.

Without magic, I think our Hermione would have been rather unhappy, even without knowing what she's missing.

Like mentioned above, Hermione would have probably be the top student in her class. Though I am quite sure she would have noticed that there was something about her that was a bit different (for the lack of a better word. xD) I'm sure she'd have had a pretty happy life as 'muggle'. She's a smart girl, not to mention that she's tough as well, so I think she would've made it.

When it comes to careers... I picture her more as a lawyer than a doctor, to be honest. But that's only my opinion, of course. =)

I totally have to agree with everyone here. I mean no matter what she would have chose she still will have her basic character which means a thirst for knowledge and a strong attitude toward the obstacle that will come before her.

Not only what all of what everyone said above is quite true, but onto something that Angie mentioned, "Though I am quite sure she would have noticed that there was something about her that was a bit different" ... Of course something would have been different, but more someone would have been missing from her life. That someone was briefly touched upon, but is IMPORTANT.

Without ever knowing Ron, not only would Hermione's life have changed for one, there would be no Hugo or Rose, but also, Ron's life. Who would he have to pick on? Who would pick on him? Where would the "bookworm" be in their little group of Gryffindors. Hermione was essential to not only Hogwarts, but the link to the trio as well. The "owl" when the two boys fought, though she wouldn't admit it, nor liked it.

Aww...that's so true, Jess. Hermione was the 'owl' for Harry and Ron, she completed them, she was their link to each other. I always think about when they became friends, where would Harry be without his best friends, and where would Harry and Ron be without Hermione? Nowhere. The two of them were always the reason Harry resisted when Voldemort possessed him. And, Hermione always made them realise how stupid they were when they fought with each other.

Yeah,of cource she would have graduated from school and college with excellent grades.But the muggles would have seen her as someone who is unusual and would have always preferred to stay away from her.She would have been very lonely if she had chosen to live life as a muggle..

Well technically she is a muggle, just with the advantage of magic on her side.

If she decided not to go((although that would be very against her "loving a challange" ways)) she would have exceeded everyone, possibly graduated early, found a very good college of her choice and moved on to a job involving medicine of somesorts.

Although I agree with everyone else, it would have been a little lonely. With Ron and Harry, she loosened up a bit and had fun. With out them i think she would have been viewed as stuck up.

I think she would have found other friends at a muggle school. She seems very intelligent so I think she would have gone on to study a law practice or something along those lines. I don't think she would have been lonely. She would have known she was magic from getting the letter at age 11 so it would have been a regret not to see what it was all about I think.
