Hermione Discussion #13: Hermione & Bella

We've all [hopefully ] read Deathly Hallows. In this thread we are discussing the chapter where Bellatrix tortures Hermione to find out where they had gotten Godric's sword. Post your thoughts on what it must have felt like for Hermione, what was running through her head [thoughts of Ron? her parents? Ginny and Harry?] and how she could have ever found the strength to come up with the lie that the sword was fake during all that pain.

I bet that she was thinking of Ron, her parents, and HArry in that order

This chapter, to me, showed exactly how both strong and smart Hermione is. It was one of my favorite times with her because it showed that she was a very strong woman, and not a little girl. She was probably thinking of her parents, her love for Ron, and her great friendship with Harry, about how she wanted to live to grow up and be something because she is the greatest witch of her age.

I cried when I read that chapter, I mean, Hermoine being tortured is horrible. (Any of them being tortured is, but this is Hermoine's Fan Club) I think when Bella tortured her, Hermoine thought about her parents, and how she had to get back to them; she thought about Ron and how he would never know that she loved him; and she thought about Harry and all the times that they had spent together as Hogwart's Golden Trio.

I think that her love for her friends and family was what kept her going, and made her tell that lie. She may not like lying generally, but if it meant keeping her friends and family alive, then I think she could tell a convinicing one.

I think it shows how brave she was. I mean, she was screaming her bushy head off the whole time, but she wasn't screaming for Bella to stop. She was just screaming. I think she knew that if she asked Bella to stop, then Bella would just kill her faster. Not to mention she was able to lie convincingly. She's got a strong heart, that woman.

I really believe that JKR wanted to give us all an idea of exactly what Hermione is made of, that she's a lot more than just a bookworm who knows a thing or two but is actually as strong as you could imagine, able to take so much and not break. It just goes to show what a truly awesome character Hermione is and why she is loved by so many!

Yeah, it seemed like all the Gryffindors got a chance to show that they were truly brave underneath, even if it didn't seem like they were at first. Neville got to prove that he could stand up for himself, and Hermione got to prove that she wasn't just a bookworm. This was why she wasn't put into Ravenclaw, because she actually is very brave. Yay!

Before reading D.H, I was wondering why Hermione was not put in Ravenclaw.Now I've got the answer.That was because she was not only intelligent but also brave.

I believe that Hermione was trying to stay mentally strong through her whole torture experience. She was thinking of the people she cared about most, and doing what she had to do to get the job they set out on finished.
