I bet she was raised like any other kid. I wonder if she went to a muggle school before Hogwarts?

I think that she was probably raised like a normal kid, a muggle. It was probably a surprise when she got her letter. However, if she went to muggle school earlier, she would've been pretty smart.

I'm suprised her parents would let her go to a school they knew nothing of because I know if I had a kid, I would NEVER let them go to some random school like Hermione's parents did!

I think that Hermione did go to muggle school, like Harry. Possiblily the letters for muggles would be different than the ones for alreays widarzing families. Maybe Hermione was already kinda weird for a muggle and her aprents suspected something

The first part of Hermione's life was definately all Muggle. Her parents were surprised when she got her letter for Hogwarts! This upbringing probably cost Hermione some self-esteem due to her being able to do certain things others could not...making her an outsider at school. She may have even been teased badly, hense her seeking solice in books. I do not think, due that both her parents were dentists and that job requires mostly daytime hours, that Hermione was home schooled. She probably doesn't talk about it because it is painful to her.

Not a clue, but yeah, her parents ar eprobably very well off. I mean with all the things that she can get, and the places she's been, they have to have some money!

Hermione strikes me as the kind of child who doesn't know how to make friends, and thus the only thing she could find solitude in was books. That's probably why she also became so smart, because as a child she just always had her head in a book. I'm sure she could do other things then the other children, and thus was shunned from them and forced further into her books.
For all we know, Hermione could have even had a learning disability - perhaps something like Aspergers, which is a mild form of autism, and the child is generally very smart, but lacks social skills.

I am sorry, but I must dissagree on the Aspergers. I know some who have it and they do not fit in with Hermione. She certainly is not attenion deficit either. I believe that she is exceptionally intelligent, which can put young kids at a disadvantage right from the start. Add the ability to do things you don't understand that you later (At 11) find out is magic and you are just labled plain weird by those who see these small hints at the ability that the child just naturally does...well. There you go!

I think Hermione is the exact oppioste of Ron because she must have came from a weathly background (all travelings she had done!) and only child of the family.
I have to admit i do think she was rather a loner before but I dont think she was abused in muggle schools (many fanfictions suggest that). Just loner and the smart one.

I agree with most saying she went to a muggle school, i also tink that she maybe got away from being teased, maybe about her 'buck' teeth or how she was a 'bookworm' and so she read and study and that's why she has trouble making friends at the beginning of SS. And she probably was home alot on her own as her parents are dentists and had to work alot so yeah

I think most likely she was raised as any ordinary muggle would be. I mean, her parents didn't know she was a witch, so they wouldn't have thought to raise her any other way. Personally, I think it would have sucked to be the kid of 2 dentists. I mean, come on, no candy.
