Zoë Wannamaker, who played Madame Hooch in ' Philosopher's Stone', was recently interviewed by Broadway.com. Most of the interview is about her role as Bessie Berger in Awake and Sing!, a play currently showing on Broadway but toward the end there is a small mention of Harry Potter. Quote: There are four or five British actors on Broadway right now—including you—that have been in one or more Harry Potter movies.
[Laughs.] Somebody had good taste. I was in the very first one [as Madame Hooch]. I read the book because the boy who plays my younger son in the TV series I do called My Family was avidly reading it and told me I had to read it. I love that kind of thing. My whole childhood I read nothing but fairy stories. For me, it was fabulous. So when they asked me to do it, I was in heaven. It definitely gave me street cred with the kids.

She was so good, I wish she'd come back. And weirdly, I think the boy who played her younger son would have made a good Harry actually. He really looks like him (as in the books, not the film)

Not many of the adult actors read the books before they got the part so it's kind of weird to have that has. It's still cool though. She was great as Madam Hooch. | |
