Post Xpose feature on fanfiction

Xpose magazine has run a feature on the topic of Harry Potter Fanfiction entitled 'Harry Potter and the Extra Adventures.'

The followuing are some interesting excerpts from it.

Quote:
While Rowling's lawyers reportedly primed their muskets, ready for a fight on their hands, JK herself was charmed and flattered by the desire of so many to turn their hand to creative writing using her characters, and gave the fans her blessing to continue publishing their work on the Web ... with the appropriate legal disclaimers applied of course!
Quote:
Many fans, recognising that Harry is far more worldly since his first day at Hogwarts, have taken it upon themselves to give the young wizard a realised outlet for his teenage hormones, having him romance Hermione Granger, Luna Lovegood, Ginny Weasley and even Draco Malfoy.
Quote:
Do writers and administrators know that one of the only conditions issued by Rowling and her lawyers was that stories based on her books was that it be free of 'obscene' content ... and do they care?
Quote:
So, through her own literary milestone, has J.K.Rowling also helped sew seeds that will blossom into future writers of Fantasy in years to come? Some of the early attempts that shine like hidden jewels in hay are an enchanting indication of things to come.
The article touches on some very mature themes and therefore it may not be suitable for some of our younger members.

I read the article, it was very intresting. I was really surprised to see 'Firefawns' name mentioned. She is an absolutely brilliant authoress. She deserves to know she was mentioned.

Fan fiction really does help you in English. As i have written about 5, now i think...In the space of a few months i have gone up about 5 grades in the subject. This is because i got responce from the readers who told me how to improve if they liked it or hated it, it boosts your esteem and i think the article was right in saying J.K.R has allowed a new breed of authors to come out from the rocks!

some of those stories are absolutely sick! why would anyone turn a story meant for people from the age of 10 up into a twisted perverted fantasy?! it definetely saddens me that there are people out there like that...

I don't think the article was a slam on fan fiction, but an eye-opener to those who just don't know what is out there in the way of HP stories. I do, however, think that these questionalbe writers do as J.K. and her attorneys ask and keep it appropiate. If they really want to write about such topics, do so in their own world setting with their own characters. Let's not ruin what Harry means to so many impressionalble readers. Not to metion those adults who just want there Harry the way it was given to us in the first place.

i like readin fan fic and i think it's great that people like writing them . . . as long as it doesn't get out of hand (romance stuff, 'mature' content, etc.)
