Wow. Just wow, that's amazing. I wonder how they judge that kind of thing, to make sure she isn't just skimming. Do they have to take some kind of 'quiz' on what they've read?

Lolz. I love my fandom.

When I read this headline, I was like, "NO WAY!!!!! I wanted to break that record!"

But then, after reading the article, I realized that she broke the speed-reading record. And that's totally different.

So she skimmed a really long book really quickly? So what! I can do it too!

No of course I'm not jealous..... Anyways, now I have a new goal in life: break her record.

WOW! I wish I could read that fast.

She did say in the interview that she sat back and enjoyed the novel...I wonder how they measure it too, and where I can sign up for one of these classes

What's the pleasure of reading like that?

Wonder how they judge the reality of the reading...

That's impossible!! No one can read that fast!!....How you are sure she is actually reading I say, I may just turn pages and say I was reading and I can tell you what it is about because maybe I'd read it before!!....

welll I think I say all this because I think is impossible to read that fast!! And I was proud because I read it in one day and a half Good for her!! Super reader...hahaha

and i thoght I had read it fast in 6 hours.. granted, it was 1am when I started, since I had to drive home from the midnight release @ B&N

But how do people even know this is true? I could pretend to read that fast.

But yeah, that brings up the question of how does anyone know she's actually reading and not just skimming like every other sentence/paragraph or not? I mean honestly it would be a hard thing to judge.

I mean, my dad told me all about his speed-reading class, where they were taught NOT to read and how to just skim down the middle of the page, pulling in words from the sides to create their own sentences and figuring out the plot from there.

apparently, in that class, they were told the point of speed-reading was not to understand, but simply to finish.

Speed reading consists of your eyes flitting and registering the main words in a sentence
For example: The cat sat on the mat!
If you speed read that sentence your eyes would only register cat, sat, and mat
You would be able to understand the gist of the sentence and then the words flow easier. You basically miss the one/two letter words and those little joining words that aren't really important.

I read it in an hour and understood the entire book. It is definately possible!

This is ridiculous! But amazing, too.
