| | |  Wizarding World of Harry Potter to open spring 2010?
An extensive piece in License! magazine details the future of the Harry Potter franchise, mentioning along the way that the Wizarding World park, which is currently in the middle of construction at Universal Studios, Orlando, Florida, is due to open in spring 2010. Quote:
The strategy and timeline includes the following:
* April 30: Harry Potter: The Exhibition launched at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago and is a brand extension indicative of the widespread popularity of the franchise.
* July 15: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince releases in theaters worldwide and could exceed the highest weekend (Nov. 18, 2005) box office gross of film four (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix), at $102 million.
* July: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince videogame, from Electronic Arts, releases for multiple platforms and will coincide with the film's release.
* Spring 2010: The theme park attraction, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, will open at Universal Orlando Resort, Orlando, Fla.
* Holiday 2010: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1, based on the final novel, is scheduled for theatrical release.
* Summer 2011: The final movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2, will be released.
The article goes on to talk about what lies ahead for the series, beyond the films, and though it doesn't go into specifics, it does indicate that the Harry Potter brand isn't ending anytime soon. Quote:
In addition to the movies and extensive licensing and merchandising programs, the expansion of live events will help strengthen the Harry Potter brand's popularity worldwide.

I think I'm going to wait until the initial wave of fans/tourists passes through, then go. Hopefully it will be less crowded and my fam and I will enjoy ourselves more. I don't think we'd like having to wait hours in the hot sun just to get in...LOL

woaw...they are actually working for a greater and longer spell of harry potter and want it to sort of stay in minds of people for quite a long time...hope it all works out well...i think this is gonna be WB's the most favorite film series it has ever made...simply great...i dont knw if the HP park ever conitinues to stay open forever sort then maybe i will go some time to Orlando...rght now it is impossible....

Opening in the Spring would be awesome! I get three weeks vacation then!
I thought it was Nov. too but that wouldn't be good, it's cold and most schools are in session then. Not to mentiom it's hard to get time off that time of year.

I'm still placing my bets on soft opening September/early October and grand opening the halloween weekend of 2010. Diabolica (deatheater24601) and I were backstage the other day looking at it and construction is going well, but it's got a loooong way to go.
