Dainsie has made this summary of some of the most prevelant theories for Book 7.

Book 7 Plot Theories

Harry will return to the Dursley’s, keeping his promise to Dumbledore. The duration of his stay will be short, only remaining long enough to renew the charm upon him for the final time. He will tell the Dursley’s that he will never see them again. Uncle Vernon will be ecstatic, but Aunt Petunia may possibly reveal a side of her that we have never seen before, maybe showing that she knows far more than she lets on, and possibly reveals something important about Lily.

He will then travel to the Burrow along with Hermione, and meet all of the Weasley family that are there for Bill and Fleur’s wedding. It will be in the garden of the house and a simple family affair. Harry will find it hard being around Ginny who clearly still wants to be with him, but she does understand what his reasons are and respects and admires him for that, as does Mrs. Weasley. Harry definitely wants to be with her too, but his worry that she will come to harm because of him assures him of his decision.

Hogwarts will re-open but the number of students that return is smaller than most years. Some parents will be to afraid to separate their families, especially now that Dumbledore is gone. Professor McGonagall will become Headmistress of the school. Professor Slughorn will stay on as potions master and become Slytherin Head of House. He may become slightly less selective and elitist, after being so wrong about two of his ‘favourites’. Hagrid will become the Gryffindor Head of House, and Grawp will play a part in the story line. The post of Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher will be taken by an Auror and will teach the class much more practical defence.

Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny will all return to school, along with Neville and Luna. The trio will use all the resources that the school has to offer to try and track down the Horcruxes, not really interested in finishing their education, though McGonagall will try and make the school run as normal as possible. Harry will visit Dumbledore’s painting for advice and possibly find clues and help that Dumbledore left behind to aid him. Ginny, Neville and Luna will try to help but Harry won’t let them, fearing for their safety, though they protest vehemently and still try. Harry is still slightly uneasy even about Ron and Hermione’s help, though he realises he needs their talents to help him and that they are stronger together. In the holidays they use that time to try and hunt down the Horcruxes, as they are now of age and can use magic freely. They possibly travel to Grimmauld place (remember there was a locket there) maybe left by Regulus, and maybe Godric’s Hollow.

The final battle between Harry and Voldemort will take place at Hogwarts. Voldemort will be defeated at the hands of Harry, though a lot of people will fight. Snape will play an integral role in the whole of this, but as to what side he will end up on we are not sure of until the very end. Harry’s scar will disappear, severing his link with Voldemort forever. Ron and Hermione will get together, as will Harry and Ginny.

The final chapter of the book will be like an epilogue, or will at least answer all the lingering questions that we have. We find out about what happens to all the characters, more about Harry’s family throughout the book, and what happens to them all after they leave Hogwarts.

Then we all cry because it’s over…

well thats seriously optimistic. im slowly but surely preparin myself for harry's eventual death(hears ppl swearin at her for even imagining that this might happen) though i can not stomach the thought that any of the others may die. and i'd rather see luna get together with fred weasley what an amazin couple they will make!!!!!!!!

hey everyone i have my own theori but it's about how many books there are going to be J.K said that she will onlny write 7 books when he is in school but he is not going to be in school anymore sooo maybe they will have more books and we won't cry after all...

i've heard some silly theories like harry and fleur's sister?? ultimately, i think its possible for harry to die because he has to kill voldermort but because of the prophesy, which claims that either one has to kill the other, he may be revived after he kills voldermort...he will live on...well i wonder if im making sense here

i'm really looking 4ward to book 7 but then i realise it's the last book of harry!!!!!!!!

Voldemort and Harry will put aside their differences and be friends!

Maybe Luna and Neville will get together. Maybe Kreacher will fall in a volcano. Maybe Dobby and Winky will have a baby.

Awww...maybe cheese will takeover the world. So many maybes, there is so many to choose!

A friend of mine got with the theorie that Dumbledore will revive somehow, and that Snape had to kill Dumbledore as an order from Dumbledore himself.. remember they had a fight(heard by Hagrid) and Snape said: I don't wanna do it... that could lead to the kill of Dumbledore...

And he thinks that the trio will go together with Neville,Luna and even Ginny.. but I doubt if mrs. Weasley will allow that....

I really can't wait.... I think I'm going to write stories of Harry after the 7the book came out... when he's an Auror... I would like it to post some here

Well, you just never can tell with J.K. Rowling. Maybe Ron and Hermione will fall in love. But that will only happen if J.K. doesn't take my blackmailing seriously.

Wow, some of these theories sound really believable, but you never know what JKR might be planning for book 7. Towards the end of book 6, when Harry tells Ron and Hermione his plans for the next year, i think some of those are going to be a part of the plot for sure. And i'm pretty sure that Harry is going to go to visit his parents graves at least once, because he knows so much about their deaths and everything but i think JKR might be planning for him to go to his real home(Godric's hollow) and also go and pay his respects/find some peace by visiting his parents graves. I know that he's going to go about looking for the horcruxes for sure, and i think that Harry will, reluctantly, allow Neville,Luna and Ginny to help him and the other two out. I know Harry, Ron and Hermione are the original trio but I think that in book 5, JKR sort of pointed out another odd trio(Neville, Luna & Ginny). Out of the trio Harry seems like the third wheel when it comes to love because JKR has been hinting heavily and it's become very obvious that Ron and Hermione have strong feelings for one another, and between Neville,Luna and Ginny, Ginny seems to be in the same position as Harry, because although Neville and Luna seem like an unlikely couple i think they might get together. So, in this way when it's the six of them, Harry,Ron,Neville,Ginny,Hermione, and Luna you can sort of see that Harry and Ginny are meant to be. I think the theory abou Harry dying is probably likely because of all the deaths that have happened so far. But i think lot's of people are bound to die during the final battle. We'll see what JKR's ingenious mind come up with though.

Some of my friends and I have come up with a slightly ridiculus theory that Harry and Ginny might somehow have magically bonded at birth or something so that they would have to marry by a certain age and that they'll have a baby and when Harry goes to into the final battle with Voldy, he'll at least have someone to carry on the Potter name if he dies. I know it sounds crazy because they'd only be 16-17 but they're legal by 17 in the wizarding world so it'd work.

Interesting theorie but how can you think Harry's going to die??
I mean if he doesn't dies he will have plenty of time before marrying and dying of becoming to old(dunno what;s that called in English)
Harry is not very strong if you compare him to voldemort but I guess they will find some way of killing him slowly... first taking all the hurcroxes and maybe weakening him by a potion or something... I would know but it's obvious that he won't face voldemort immediatly.. he's just not strong enough.. even with Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Neville and Luna by his side.. I think they will someway bond(what's that called in english?) there powers.....

It could also be that Voldemort goes public... starting a public war.... into the Muggle world and just using his Dementors, Giant's and Deadeaters to kill anyonein his path.... He killed the most powerfull wizard now so he doesn't need to fear him anymore....

I love to think forward this way^^

sorry to tell but i swear to god that JK said Harry was going to DIE!!!!
I was screaming at the top of my lungs cuz i couldn't believe she would do that!!!
I'll be so sad when i read the book! and u know what! cedric and harry both died when they were 17. creepy huh

I don't know, in a way I think Harry won't return to school. But then again, how much bigger does Rowling want to expand her wizarding world. As to the ending it will depend on Rowling, either way it ends people will still buy the book and if it truly is the last then it may be the end of Harry as well. Lol I just thought of my one friend's theory I found interesting. He thinks that maybe Draco had taken polyjuice potion to look like Dumbledore while Dumbledore disguised as him is going to be led by Snape into Voldemort's lair. What good that would do Dumbledore though I wouldn't know, seeing as there are still the Horcruxes. Question though for any of you to answer, how is it that Harry is the only one that can kill Voldemort. Wouldn't anyone be able to after all the Horcruxes were destroyed? Or is Harry possibly the last unknown Horcrux?

i agree with both of H/G and R/HG getting together. i really hope harry doesn't die but i have a feeling he will cuz then J.K. Rowling wouldn't have to write anymore about Harry Potter. I am going to be so sad when the 7th book comes out!

Hey everyone as many of you think that Harry will die i dont think he will after listening to J.K Rowlings sotry on CNN last night she said it wont continure but had said on national TV the something dredful is gonna ahppen which means someone is gonna die but i dont think it will be harry... I have ai completely different theory as many as most of you i think we all will have to look foreard of more thrilling action for book 7, more romantic scenes maybe..but i think harry will be able also to find sirius even though of his past and think he will be able to talk to him i also dont think harry will go back to Hogwarts.. as he said in book 6.. i just have a complete theory.. will just have to keep checking out whats in play for the next book.. but as an epilouge H/G and R/H they will have kids of the own learning magic and going to another school but as for Hogwarts school may be gone by the time when they have kids of their own.. as someone had said Harry could be the last Horcruxes and to defend Voldie i think he will get everyone from the D.A and plus mr and mrs weasley..Percy..Bill. Charlie..lupin..moody..all teachers. and tonks to help defend voldie and find his other horcruxes...

that would make sense, after all its belived he is the only one who can kill him.
