Well, you're right about the two possiblities there. But then again, that was pretty obvious.

When we started that thread, it was like 2 months before Chamber of Secrets movie came out. And I remember thinking: Why bother? There's no possible way we're going to get a million posts in 2 months!
Of course, we didn't get that many before CoS, so they changes the title of the thread to "1 million before PoA" instead - which was a slightly more realistic goal.
There's no question in my mind: They copied the idea frm us.
But, who really cares? I don't even consider them to be compitition. Our site is simply a better and tighter community. :flowersmile:

i agree
the official site is okay, but you can tell it was made by people who are paid to do it and really dont give a stuff about HP
SS is the best site- so much cooler
and yeah, thats waht i thought when i read it was 'hey, we even had a 1 million before CoS'
and logically, they wouldnt have started it months before CoS came out
so i think its safe to say that we had it first
they probably just didnt know consiously that we had it first.

Well, after a little investigating, I found the facts:
Their thread was started on November 15th, 2002 (The day Chamber of Secrets opened). It was started by a member named, theclubhogwarts.
Ours was started before that, but I'm not 100% certain when the name was changed to "PoA" from "CoS" but I'm pretty sure it was before CoS came out. I think it was the week before when we noticed that there was no hope for us to make so many posts by CoS' release-date.
I guess it may just be a coincidence. Or maybe this "theclubhogwarts" person saw it here, and then made his own copy over there.
No matter. It's just interesting.

That is correct. It used to be before CoS. And I think it was a coupple of months rather than 2 weeks
Right. It was 2 months or so I believe. Which means ours started in September 2002.

We like to conserve space whenever possible here at SS.
Who started it? I don't remember, but it was someone who was new at the time (Sept. 2002).
