Time Warner, owner of WB and other major film companies, is going to let you download movies from the Internet and burn them onto DVDs starting next year. On Tuesday, a top executive announced they may even offer films for download on the same day that DVDs go on sale in stores.
According to Richard Parsons, CEO and chairman of Time Warner:

I expect we will be in a download-to-burn mode in 2007 -- It will be a part of next year's offerings.
o_0 I don't know if the industry knows what its doing... its the closest to legalizing piracy.
I mean if I have the equipment, I will invest on downloading a copy even if its quite expensive to download, because if I'm a twisted business person, I would think if reproducing 20,000 copies or more and selling them at a price waaaay cheaper than the cost of the original DVDs they're selling officially
Wow, and yes. It's great for people who can't be bothered to go into the store. I could never live without the DVD though, need all the special features.
