I wonder when it will be...probably not for a couple of years yet...

If you have to pay for it, does that mean only Americans will be able to join because you have to use dollars? I never understood how these websites worked for people in other countries, because the currencies are different...

As a player of LOTRO, who is here after your conversation was linked on our boards, I'd welcome an HP MMO.

I think you'll find LOTRO to be much more mature, with a much higher average player age. Plus, on some servers of the game such as Landroval, you will find a very rich RP community.

The LOTRO game is being rolled out in "Volumes" and "Books." Presently Volume 1 is coming to its end, following the basic flow of Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring. Within Volume 1, we have had 13 "Books" which are large scale story arcs. Book 14 will setup the game for its first paid expansion.

The game is very very strongly based in the lore of the books. Indeed, you only get the fullest experience if you have read Tolkiens books. There is a goodly amount of combat, which would be different from how it will work with an HP MMO. Yet crafting, RP, hobbies, and other activities are all there.

You can actually get a free week of play if you visit the games site. At least, presently you can in the U.S. I'm not sure how the European market is setup.

Those of us playing LOTRO are curious, as Time Warner owns the movies, and with a recent investment in our games company, we wonder if they might get the HP game as well.

Oh, that sounds like so much fun! I hope they make more progress on this soon

anyone heard any new news on this? as for me im waiting for diablo 3, and star wars old republic, but if this comes out anytime soon i might have to push them to the back burner. That's if it's made by a good mmo developer. EA Games hasn't ever made a game that in depth. Blizzard, gPotato, Bioware, KingsIsle are companies that have experience in this field. EA could team up with one of them and share their ideas and blueprints of the castle and grounds to make a pretty impressive game i'm sure. But there would have to be so many servers if the game was based out of just full scale sized castle alone.

Ooh! Interesting! I want to join and play. Although, if we have to pay, i don't think my mum will be too happy! Ah well...
