Video: J.K. Rowling confesses she almost killed Ron Weasley off mid-series
A new short clip from Daniel Radcliffe and J.K. Rowling's chat, which will be featured on the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 Blu-ray set, was released by Cine Premiere, where the author of the Harry Potter books revealed that of the trio, she truly considered killing Ron Weasley off mid-series. That can be viewed below.
Daniel Radcliffe: Here’s another thing, ‘cause there’s … was there ever a chance that one of the main – ‘cause I was convinced that one of the main three had to buy it eventually … one of them was gonna.
JK Rowling: Well, funnily enough, I planned from the start that none of them would die. Then midway through, which I think is a reflection of the fact that I wasn’t in a very happy place, I started thinking I might push one of them off out of sheer spite. “Now you definitely can’t have him anymore.”
Dan Radcliffe: Midway through the book or midway through the series?
Jo: Midway through the series. But I think in my absolute heart of hearts, although I did seriously consider killing Ron …
Dan: Really?
Jo: Anyway, I can tell you it’s a real relief to be able to talk about it all. It’s fantastic.
Dan: It must lovely.
Jo: It’s lovely.
Note: While SnitchSeeker did initially report this on Friday, Warner Bros asked for the story to be pulled at first. When the video became 'viral' over the weekend, Warner Bros then gave permission to repost, which is why it is here now.

Aww. I always thought Ginny, Draco, Neville or Luna would have died. I didn't think she would touch the trio - but I did wonder if one of the other "Top 7" would be killed. I'm glad they didn't though. <3
It was very very good move of her to keep him alive. It would be horrible reading these books without Ron. Midway through the series? That means book four. Imagibe reading OOP without Ron.
I was bored once Ron left in Deathly Hallows so for her to kill him off mid-series would have been the end of it for me. And my favorite character is Harry! Just wouldn't have been the same without him!
Ph my gosh! What? That would mean that... that... Hermione would grow to be an old maid!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No, that could not happen! She'd be like Umbridge or somebody nasty when she'd get older then! (If you've seen a Very Potter Sequel you'd know what I'm talking about!)
Omg !!! I wouldn't even take a glance at any of the following films/books if she'd killed off Ron. But it would've been a good idea to have killed him near the end of the last book. I mean, if she'd have had him die to save hermione (maybe bellatrix was about to kill her and he pushed her out of the way and got killed himself or something). I think that would have been interesting. Because then rupert would stay on til the end. Anyone else think that that would've made a good way to kill off Ron (if he ever was killed off that is)?
