| | | Video of Emma & David at the BAFTA's
A video of the acceptance speech featuring David Heyman and Emma Watson, has now emerged. The actress and producer attended the BAFTA's to collect the award for PoA for the Orange Film of the Year.
The Scotsman has the following on the event: Quote:
Fourteen-year-old Emma Watson collected the Orange Film of the Year award for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
The actress, who plays Hermione Grainger, said: “I’ve never been to the Baftas before, so just to be turning up is exciting, to have a nomination on top of that is great, and to win the award voted by the people is brilliant.”
Her co-star, Daniel Radcliffe, who plays Harry, couldn’t make the ceremony because he was at home studying for his GCSEs.
The video can be downloaded from here (right click, save target as) courtesy of Ciaran. You need WinZip to view this file.
The video can also be downloaded from here courtesy of EW.net (right click, save target as). You only need to have Windows Media to view this one. Quote:
David Heyman thanked Peter Jackson for being absent that year. (To which there was loads of laughter) He thanked the producers, the crew, the actors, Steve Kloves, Alfonso, WB and Jo Rowling.
Emma said, "Thanks David, you've left me with pretty much nothing else to say!" She thanked Dan personally saying he finally got his priorities right and is home studying for his GCSE's. She said she was so excited to be there to receive an award for something she is so proud of. She said she wished other people could be there to collect the award with them and thanked Alfonso.
When it was first announced she looked so excited and hesistantly waited for David and they then hugged. Both were beaming!
Pictures from the event can be seen here. EDIT: Alternatively you can download this video (which also requires you to have WinZip) but features Emma on the red carpet, Emma presenting an award, and David Heyman & Emma's acceptance speech.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Marcella Riddle Graduated | Kaplinski Rival Sorting Hat Machine She didn't mention him. I couldn't work out why he didn't go. He has no exams. Maybe he's still filming or maybe he didn't want to go because it might or probably would make the British tabloids have a field day - you know, they'd assume they were together most likely or something silly like that.
Mind you he is in negotiations to be in "Driving Lessons" a new film with Julie Walters so he could be busy with something to do with that.
But it is weird that she didn't mention him.
He could also have been busy viewing/judging films for the First Light Film awards for which he is a judge this year.
Personally, I don't think studying really is an excuse. The exams don't start until Mid-May and filming ends pretty soon so Dan has got plenty of time - it's not as if he's filming in between exams or anything.
Besides that, it is only one night, everyone needs a break from revising, even the exam boards advise that. It's not as if going would've made him fail his GCSE's!
Oh well!

| Awesome video clip! *pets dan* Thats good he was studying though, studying and passing major tests like that is very important and it's good for other kids to see that, so they know where there priorities are... education is always there well acting may not always be. I think it's great that he did stay home to study even though he missed out. *stops rambling* |

| | | I can imagine that she feels bad over forgetting Rupert. If I were in front of a large audience or on the tele, I would probally forget my own name and stand there with my mouth half open!! | |

| Maybe Emma didn't remember Rupoert, I think it was cute that she mention Dan and Alfosno.
I am proud of Dan, I think when Emma said "priorities", I think that means that she already knows what he is going to do after school (I think he is going to the University) (Like we already knoe many of the HP kids are not going to continue a higher education after school.)
Let's remember that this are kids and their parents are the ones who decide if they are going or not, also let's not forget that he still filming, so maybe he doesn't have too much time to study, and since to me it looks like he is very into getting good grades on this exams, I think he is really devoted to his studies.
Wish him luck and I hope he continues working on HP |

Oh well! Too true, it was such an obvious NO MENTION for rupert and if you watch closely she had a card which she was looking at when she was doing thanks so forgetfulness doesnt really count. I got shouted at by my sis for saying this, but everytime i see emma on screen i like her less, she's so got 'child star and its all going to my head' in neon lights above her head. Sorry, but she has. Plus what was with Dan and GCSE's, i know he wants to be a good student, but really! The exams are months away and no one really studies for them anyway ! Sounds like bog standard no show celeb excuse to me though to be fair not many are sitting GCSE's - "film commitments" "pre-production" "Hair emergency" they were all present last night BAFTAs are a big deal, i think they all should have gone, but then i also think they should all come to my house....for tea...and stuff... |

Oh well! Yeah, I`m absolutely agree. I`ve got five exams recently, and was studying the whole night before each of them. Or maybe that`s a special feature of our Ukrainian students? |

| I glad they had that circulating. I was going to watch it last night but my cousin (whose parents are totally anti-potter and anit-everything I think) came over and he isn't allowed to watch the television, so that that screwed up my plans.
thanks for that |

You do GCSE's 8-10 subjects in your last year of highschool - year 11 when you're 15/16. They then allow you to do either get a job or go on to do A Levels which then allow you to go to University. Quote:

They both had speeches written, they were looking downward at them. I think it's the whole thing Emma and Dan seem to have that was showing; I don't think it was about forgetting Rupert but about mentioning someone she's extremely close to. Quote:

He leaves school this year and you need to stay on and do A Levels to go to Uni, which he won't have time for because of HP. Believe me, I'm in my final year of A Levels and I struggle and I'm no film star so I can't imagine the amount of stress it'd put him under. Quote:

That's a good point. No 15 year decides for themsleves to stay in and study on a Saturday night, he was probably told he couldn't go. Quote:

I've done my GCSE's two years ago; you do not need to study for months. Besides the BAFTA's was just one night. I studied for perhaps a month before hand and received outstanding grades, got great grades in my A Levels and have been accepted to my first choice Uni.
My point, you don't need to sacrifice fun or spend months studying to do well in these exams. He's probably got the finest tutors in the world teaching him aswell. Quote:
no one really studies for them anyway
That is so true for normal kids, but Dan is private and has very high-flying parents who I'll bet, are pushing him all the way to succeed.
I studied but not to the point where I missed out on things. GCSE's, mainly are common sense, especially the English exams. It sounds cheeky or maybe odd, but although I revised for a month I didn't study hard to the point where I got stressed and passed and found the GCSE's, if anything, easy. It's the A Levels that are hard. Quote:

That works for some people. if you've got a short-term memory, it is best to study last minute. Quote:
they showed richard gere!!!
I noticed that too, for like 5 whole seconds. Why was that? Could he have a cameo in GoF/OotP? LOL Having said that, I have read he's a Potter fan |

But let's not forget that none of us so far has his schedule, none of us are filming almost every day, and then back to regular school and study for this tests or exams.
These are special kids, since their lifes are different from us, we don't need to learn scripts and school work at the same time. |
