Video: Daniel Radcliffe on Deathly Hallows: Part 2 most emotional, enjoyable scenes
In a rare interview to promote the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, Daniel Radcliffe opened up the scenes he most filming in the final installment, as well as the most emotional. Dan admitted he loved being beaten up by Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort, riding on the Gringotts trolley with his fellow cast members, and getting to work with Gary Oldman, Geraldine Somerville, and Adrian Rawlins one last time as his on-screen godfather and parents. That can be viewed here.
What did you enjoy most about making Part 2?
Daniel Radcliffe: I have to say, being beaten up by Ralph Fiennes was pretty fun. It wasn’t always comfortable, but it was fun. I enjoy scenes like that, where I get slapped around a bit. It’s quite fun. That was good. That was definitely a highlight. Being on the underground cart - which takes us inside Gringotts – being on that cart with Rupert, a guy called John, Warwick Davis and Helena Bonham Carter, and then Emma, was great fun because we were all soaking wet, we were all making jokes – it was just hilarious. It was really, really good. It was a fun few days.
What was the most emotional part of the film for you?
Dan: Weirdly enough, the most emotional shot of the film was probably the last one, which was not an emotional scene. It was literally a shot of me jumping into a fireplace at the end of the Ministry of Magic chase scene. That was our last shot of the film. That was how we ended it.
I think the other emotional scene in this film, and the one that I’d been most looking forward to as well, was the scene where I walk into the forest and suddenly I see my parents and Sirius and Lupin standing in front of me. That was an emotional scene also because Gary came back for it. And also because Adrian and Geraldine, who play my parents, are wonderful, and personally I’m sad they died because I would’ve loved to have acted more with them. Also the character of Lupin died, [which] for me was one of the most upsetting in the books because I loved that character. So that scene was pretty emotional, I think. It should be anyway.
What's the key theme for this last movie?
Dan: Fight for your life, I suppose, would be one of the main themes. It's a battle to save Hogwarts, it's a battle to survive. It's a battle to see the next morning. That's kind of the thrust of most of the film. And also, it has all the Harry Potter themes of friendship and all those things, and how tested that could be. And in this even more extreme situation, how much these three, four, five, you know, the whole school relies on each other, and that's what I love about it. It's about a communal spirit, and surviving.
Also, Warner Bros via Apple released a high-definition version of their feature on the last days of Harry Potter film for many principle cast members, including Dan, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Robbie Coltrane, David Bradley, Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman, and David Thewlis. That can be viewed here (hi-def screencaps can be found in our galleries).
Dan did such an excellent job in this film - he blew me away! I think he took all of that emotion from the series ending and just channeled it. He really just did an amazing job - as did the others.
I have to add - I really like the extended fight scene at the end between Harry and Voldemort. I always felt like the end of the book was a bit anti-climatic. I think the physical brawl between the two was cathartic - so I'm not surprised Dan liked that part.
I LOOOOOOOOOVED the movie!I'm going tomorrow again The kiss was really my fav scene.
Also Alan Rickman gave the performance of his life seriously I sobbed like a 5 year old in the movie...
And....I saw the vid again..And I cried..Again..Jesus I can't believe it's over!
Seeing videos like these really stresses the fact that it's over. The entire production of Harry Potter is really over. True, the series will always be around for those who remain loyal to it, but things don't get more real and emotional than this.
The end of my childhood as I know it. ♥
But maybe there will be a documentary in a few months, years... Then maybe Pottermore will be a success. Or there will be a prehistory about the film someday. I don´t know if it´s over and I don´t know if not, but the one thing I have to say is that the hope dies last!(for me). I hope there will be something to do with Harry Potter. OMG - so emotional!

When I first saw that "wrap up" video I kept a strong face. But now seeing the movie and thinking back on these past 10 years for me and how I went about it,well hearing Dan's speech and seeing Rupert,Emma and Dan-mostly Rupert cry, well he made me tear up so bad my cheeks got wet.
Great answers, wonderful interviews from the main cast
This just brings me to tears again... I just can't believe this is the end.. I don't want it to be.. is not right.. JK should write more books!! I'm just gonna go ahead and cry my eyes out.. my heart feels so sad..
I've seen movie yesterday and it was amazing and emotional, absolutely perfect... and the kiss between ron and hermione is gorgeous!
Seeing this video I just cried like a baby... it makes me realize that it's really over. The extraordinary thing is that I dont remember a time when I didnt know Harry... He will be in my heart forever.
its time to choose between what is right and what is easy
dan's interviews are great! i love all of them!
-as for the clip of the actors last days on set, i LOVE these behind the scenes videos. i really hope this one especially is added on the extras of the DH2 dvd or in the big set which will eventually be released
I can't believe it's all over. I'm just thinking about when I first read the book in 5th grade and loved it all ever since. When the movie ended I was kind of disappointed with the producers and directors for not following the book. That mixed with the feeling of a piece of my life ending just like that. Harry Potter was always something to look forward to, and now that it's over I'm terribly depressed. Now I have to read the books over again (for about the 10th time) to keep the dream alive...
Watching that video made me choke up (again). I love their friendship, it mirrors Harry, Ron and Hermione's so much. All the cast seemed so involved. I love this cast.
Did you just lose something? The GAME? Sorry... 'Justin Bieber, he is the man!' U mad, Felton!?
Y'know I'm in tears now, about Dan's speech at the end, and how all the cast seem to love each other like a massive family, how they've had laughs together all of these years, and how friendships broke out where they wouldn't have before...
This interview was awesome! Daniel is so lucky to be working with the people he does. I wish I could work with Daniel myself (though I'm not much of actor, but there you go!). I would kill to be able to work with Gary Oldman! (He's one of my favorite actors).
Alan Rickman certainly did give an absolutely mind blowing performance. The bit i cried the hardest in was Snape cradling Lily's body and crying. That scene broke me.
