| | |  Universal Studios seeking a deal with Rowling?
The Scotsman claims that Universal Studios is seeking a deal with J.K.Rowling to build a $500m Harry Potter mini theme park in Florida. They say that negotiations are thought to have been going on since 2005, in regards to potential sites and the park's contents. Negotiations with Disney for a similar park fell through because the corporation wanted total control of the project. It is thought the new Potter park would be situated in Universal's existing Islands of Adventure attraction. Quote:
Alexander, a former vice president of Universal Studios and founder of a theme park design consultancy, said: "The property [Harry Potter] has legs - he is not going to be less popular in years to come. What is good about it is that it has family appeal and if they put some good rides in to the theme park there will be teenage and young adult appeal too."
Quote:
"Universal did not ask [Rowling] for permission to do the park, they just came to her with a pitch," he explained. "Probably she did not like their designs and they had to start over."
It is thought that if an agreement reached, the feature could be built in as little as 18 months.
Universal Studios, Warner Bros and Rowling all declined to comment.
This news follows on from previous reports about theme park negotiations, however, nothing has yet been made official.  | |

Ohh I hope they get to build one because that would be the coolest thing ever. Plus I live in Florida and only about 4 hrs from orlando so I would be able to go there alot if I wanted too. I really hope Jo agrees to do this.
